Huge restaurant right in the middle of downtown Detroit, and close to the stadium. We went in for dinner on a Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised how big this restaurant was. From the outside it certainly doesn't look like it could be two restaurants. We were seated on the side where live music is offered, however it was a little empty too. But I was not complaining because the waitstaff was on top of their game. We ordered a seafood pasta and salad. The food wasn't a 10, but I could come back for a visit and recommend the restaurant. Huge and beautiful restaurant right in greektown, unfortunately the waitstaff and management are absolutely horrible. This should be a great establishment but it's a joke. The food isn't good (which is a shame) because I love Cajun food normally. Also they randomly now serve sushi too which I also don't recommend. The real problem with fishbones is the amazing potential of a beautiful restaurant isn't utilized due to a terrible waitstaff, overpriced food, no draft or good drink options, and an obviously incompetent management team. Met some out of state friends who remembered fishbones from years back and wanted to dine there before going to a concert at ford field. It did not disappoint. Catfish was delicious and the pasta Orleans was amazing and full of seafood. The crab stuffed mushrooms appetizer was also delicious. Service was great and they offered individual checks without us even having to ask. Went to Fishbone on a suggestion. The establishment is really nice and historic, but man the service is SHIT. Grabbed some fish and chips (cod and fries) that was, how can I say this, I've had way better. This is one of those spots that is making it on the name. One more thing, they had a trio band that was really good and made the evening much more enjoyable. read more

This location is a bit hard to get to. There is construction all around it and some roads are closed off on the side of the restaurant. Once inside, it has a nostalgic feel but also is big and open with plenty of seating. The service was lovely for our group of 4, our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the coconut shrimp and you get a lot of small shrimp which was nice. I tried the jambalaya was good but could have been a bit more spicy. read more

This place is HUGE! I was a bit weary, due to some other reviews but I am so glad we went. Jessica was our server and she was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful! I got the braised short rib and it was perfect. A nice portion too, giving me leftovers. Pricey, but SO worth it. My husband got, étouffée, seafood gumbo and jambalaya. He loved the jambalaya the most, and the others were not too bad, he said he wished he would've gotten a larger jambalaya portion since it was so tasty. Went here opening day 4/4/25. It was an average experience. The management should've been better. All the food was cool. Drinks were fine. I loved my deep eddys lemon drop. Was disappointed that they didn't have the chicken & sausage gumbo. Especially after I had sat there waiting once ordered it. Thats the only reason i went there in the first place. The catfish poboy was pretty nice. The staff was polite. Drinks, silverware & Food took a lil long to come out. The waitress messed up the bills twice. Was surprised that they started yelling we are closed when 11pm marked the clock. They rushed their tables to exit. That was not ok! Is this a restaurant or a club? We are all adults... Fishbones Rhythm Kitchen Cafe (West) was the recent dinner destination in Southfield. It had been a long time since I dined here. Probably not since the national pandemic shutdown. It is great to see they survived the storm when many restaurants closed their businesses. My book club gathered in their French Quarter private dining room. Everything was nicely setup for us to dine and discuss our book selection. The mounted television also played soft music for us. Our book club host hand everything prepared for us in advance. Our food selection for the evening was chosen and setup by our server. She was excellent! She was also very accommodating for two members that were doing the Daniel Fast by bringing them baked potatoes and veggies. Our spread was excellent and plentiful! We had catfish beignets with remoulade sauce, chicken, Orleans pasta, garden salad, and bread followed by chocolate cake. Our beverage options were in our room and anyone wanting a cocktail could go order one at the bar in the restaurant. The surprise of the evening was the live music which is there every Saturday night. The music was great! Just note the private room is not sound proof so you are definitely going to hear the band. I would love to comeback to really enjoy the band! PSA (posted signs): 18% gratuity is added to all guest checks and 20% for parties of 10 or more; No separate checks for parties of 6 or more. I used to love this restaurant. It was my go to, however, my last couple of visits have been very disappointing. The one item I enjoyed was not available but listed on the menu. The salad that I paid $25 for was on a plate that was too small with baby shrimp and not good at all. The bread was hard and just getting into the restaurant was horrible due to construction that has been going on for a year. The waitress tried to help, but all of management was in a meeting. We had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience here. Our group of 12 waited over an hour and a half for food, only to be given inconsistent explanations by the manager--first claiming there were multiple fights, then changing the story to a medical emergency. We were initially told we wouldn't be charged for the food we never received, but that quickly changed. The manager then attempted to charge us $60 for a single drink, along with a 12% service fee and an automatic 20% gratuity--despite the fact that our waitress only came to the table once to bring water and never followed up. I personally informed our server about a food allergy and asked for guidance on safe options, but she never returned to confirm my order or provide any information. Communication was essentially nonexistent. After we raised concerns about the delay, we were told they would no longer be bringing out the rest of our food because we complained. As a result, 8 people in our party had to leave and find food elsewhere. The few dishes that did come out were incorrect and underwhelming. Overall, the service was disorganized, unprofessional, and disrespectful. We will not be returning. read more

This is the third time I got scammed from this restaurant. I used to consider this my little slice of New Orleans in Detroit... my favorite spot to end a night out. One of my favorite things to do is order a plate of oysters on my walk home after a night out. Typically it's $20 or so. Tonight it was $60. I had no idea I would be charged that. I come here so often, I was sure it was just going to be $20 or so... so I didn't even ask to see a menu, and I got charged $60. So when I got home I looked up the menu just to check the price... a plate of oysters is still $20 or so according to the menu, but I got charged $60 tonight. I just ordered plain oysters with lemon, not the oysters Rockefeller like the screenshot shows. But the fact the fancy oysters are $20 on this menu, and I was charged $60 for plain oysters with a lemon... I will never be back again, this restaurant is dishonest. read more

We had a wonderful time there last evening! I was with my boyfriend, who had a serious craving for catfish, and Fishbones delivered. The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, and our server was amazing, attentive, friendly and made us feel welcome. While I couldn't indulge in the seafood (I'm allergic), I was impressed by how careful they were with my allergy and how many flavorful options were still available. I ended up ordering the short rib, and it was fantastic, tender, rich, and full of flavor. My boyfriend loved his catfish, and we both left happy and full. Hadn't been to location in over a decade and my has the quality of the food changed sadly. Cleanliness was also an issue. Entered the women's restroom to wash our hands before dinner an awful odor hit us. The bathroom had napkins and other trash on the floor, trash on the floor in 1 of the stalls and what looked to be urine on the floor as well. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been attended to or freshened up all day. The seafood gumbo which I loved since being a young girl, stopping by the restaurant after a day of shopping with my grandmother who was originally from New Orleans, LA now resembles a gravy flavor as if it's no longer made fresh. It was very sad. The gumbo was bland and had no flavor. The shrimp were very few. My southern fried cat fish came out hot and fresh. The red beans and rice were ok. My husband ordered the burger well done but it came out very medium rare with having quite a bit of pink inside. Our waitress saw this error and apologized. She then took it back for a remake which took some time. My children burger/slider plates came out with very few French fries and with salt on them, which we asked for no salt on any of the fry orders, so the waitress offered to bring out more fries for each of them. Upon receiving our bill, we were charged a 20% auto service charge but the menu listed an 18% service charge for all parties of 6 or more so we were charged more than advertised. Our waitress had the manager come over to speak woth us about the error and he made claims that the hostess should have informed us about the service fee and the fee was also listed on the website but we found no evidence of this. 18 or 20% are HEFTY SERVICE CHARGE FEE amounts. BEWARE if you have a larger party. Not a very good visit since my husband and I were there last time. Saddened & disappointed as this visit did not resemble the memories I had in years past of Fishbones. read more

I was taking a customer there and didn't pay much attention when i got the bill, I thought it seemed a little high but certainly i was not going to make a fuss about it in front of a customer. So i just paid it and added normal 25% tip to the bill. Later added it up in my head and realized the water ended up getting a total $33 tip on a $62 bill. This in my mind was dishonest of him and the establishment to not be more clear on the gratuity procedures there. We went here on a Friday night around 745. It wasn't too busy at all. Our server dropped off our food and NEVER came back. I never saw her again. My sushi roll looked like it came out of the fridge and had been sitting in there for days. The jalapeño was so nasty looking on it, I don't know what cook thought it looked okay to send out. My fiancés filet was ordered medium and it was insanely tough but again no server to be found to bring this to their attention. Finally we see a worker walking around with air pods in and we asked if he could get our server because we wanted to pay and leave. We get the bill and it automatically had gratuity which would normally be fine but since tip was included the server knew she was getting paid either way and chose to neglect us. Alligator Voodoo, which was one of my main reason for going to this place was meh. A couple pieces of the alligator was like chewing rubber. $20 is too expensive for the quality. Jambalaya was the same at $22 for chicken and sausage to $25 for the shrimp and sausage it seemed like they just scooped it out of a big vat. The portion did not even fill the plate. On top of that the main course came out while we were still trying to chew our app. With the poor timing and mid service I understood why as they force a 15% tip to the tab. Fishbones is in greektown. This place is way bigger on the inside! There is parking right across the street and they have bar seating and table seating. The service is fast and friendly. Most of the staff seems very friendly and knowledgeable. The food is expensive but delicious. Fishbones is a staple in the city if you want some southern style seafood or pasta. My go to order is always the catfish with red beans and rice which is always cooked to perfection. The sushi was excellent as usual as well. This particular time was directly after a funeral for a loved one so it was a very large group and they did accommodate all of us for seating because it's a very large space. The 4 stars is only due to the fact that they could not split up our bill nor could we use multiple cards which ended up in the chaos of everyone having to figure out how much to send to one person. Swordfish was cooked perfectly in butter but not oversaturated served on fresh spinach. A perfect meal. Potatoes on side with beans.
