Heard good things about this place. We decided to split a shrimp po boy and get bowls of gumbo. Place is beautiful. Ate at the bar. Service was great and so was the food. Recommend the Ya Ya gumbo.

This location is a bit hard to get to. There is construction all around it and some roads are closed off on the side of the restaurant. Once inside, it has a nostalgic feel but also is big and open with plenty of seating. The service was lovely for our group of 4, our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the coconut shrimp and you get a lot of small shrimp which was nice. I tried the jambalaya was good but could have been a bit more spicy.

This place is HUGE! I was a bit weary, due to some other reviews but I am so glad we went. Jessica was our server and she was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful! I got the braised short rib and it was perfect. A nice portion too, giving me leftovers. Pricey, but SO worth it. My husband got, étouffée, seafood gumbo and jambalaya. He loved the jambalaya the most, and the others were not too bad, he said he wished he would've gotten a larger jambalaya portion since it was so tasty. We would absolutely come here again if we ever make our way back to Detroit.

Went here opening day 4/4/25. It was an average experience. The management should've been better. All the food was cool. Drinks were fine. I loved my deep eddys lemon drop. Was disappointed that they didn't have the chicken & sausage gumbo. Especially after I had sat there waiting once ordered it. Thats the only reason i went there in the first place. The catfish poboy was pretty nice. The staff was polite. Drinks, silverware & Food took a lil long to come out. The waitress messed up the bills twice. Was surprised that they started yelling we are closed when 11pm marked the clock. They rushed their tables to exit. That was not ok! Is this a restaurant or a club? We are all adults... It was Very unprofessional & uncomfortable.

Noted: All guests in your group must be present for your party to be seated.

Fishbones Rhythm Kitchen Cafe (West) was the recent dinner destination in Southfield. It had been a long time since I dined here. Probably not since the national pandemic shutdown. It is great to see they survived the storm when many restaurants closed their businesses. My book club gathered in their French Quarter private dining room. Everything was nicely setup for us to dine and discuss our book selection. The mounted television also played soft music for us. Our book club host hand everything prepared for us in advance. Our food selection for the evening was chosen and setup by our server. She was excellent! She was also very accommodating for two members that were doing the Daniel Fast by bringing them baked potatoes and veggies. Our spread was excellent and plentiful! We had catfish beignets with remoulade sauce, chicken, Orleans pasta, garden salad, and bread followed by chocolate cake. Our beverage options were in our room and anyone wanting a cocktail could go order one at the bar in the restaurant. The surprise of the evening was the live music which is there every Saturday night. The music was great! Just note the private room is not sound proof so you are definitely going to hear the band. I would love to comeback to really enjoy the band! PSA (posted signs): 18% gratuity is added to all guest checks and 20% for parties of 10 or more; No separate checks for parties of 6 or more. All guests in your party must be present before being seated.

The food was good quality and surprisingly the rolls were decent prices. The waitress was really nice and made sure we had everything we needed. They had a live performer singing on stage in the main dining area and a cool looking atrium.

This is the third time I got scammed from this restaurant. I used to consider this my little slice of New Orleans in Detroit... my favorite spot to end a night out. One of my favorite things to do is order a plate of oysters on my walk home after a night out. Typically it's $20 or so. Tonight it was $60. I had no idea I would be charged that. I come here so often, I was sure it was just going to be $20 or so... so I didn't even ask to see a menu, and I got charged $60. So when I got home I looked up the menu just to check the price... a plate of oysters is still $20 or so according to the menu, but I got charged $60 tonight. I just ordered plain oysters with lemon, not the oysters Rockefeller like the screenshot shows. But the fact the fancy oysters are $20 on this menu, and I was charged $60 for plain oysters with a lemon... I will never be back again, this restaurant is dishonest.

Half rack smoked ribs with spicy bbq

Food and drink were pretty mediocre. Spicy bbq smoked rack of ribs were tough and the sauce was very ketchup-heavy taste and low on spice. Steamed broccoli were cold. Margarita made from cheap mix that tasted of sour Gatorade. Only positives were the music and the service from Patrick who was friendly and responsive.

Nice place to eat or just have drinks with friends. We sat at the bar and got some great martinis. Very clean place and friendly staff

This is one of my brother and sister-in-law's favorite restaurants when they're in the area! They definitely have a wide range of New Orleans inspired foods and a whole sushi menu! I thought our server was absolutely amazing and very helpful! All of our food was absolutely amazing, my husband orders a fillet everywhere we go and he said the sear on the outside was perfect!

As others have mentioned, seating is somewhat limited, but that only adds to the excellent service and intimate experience. I wish I remembered the names of our server and the manager because they were incredibly kind, accommodating, and helpful throughout the evening. One example of the thoughtful service: I was torn between two white wines, and since my partner ordered one of them, our server offered to bring a small sample of the other so I could compare and choose what I liked best. We also mentioned that we had never tried caviar before but didn't want to commit to a larger portion. They suggested a "bump" for $5 each, walked us through how to enjoy it properly (on the hand, letting it warm slightly), and made the experience feel fun and approachable. We were seated at the bar, which gave us the opportunity to chat more with the server and manager and watch the team prepare dishes for other tables. It genuinely felt like sitting at the chef's table. We both opted for the tasting menu, which changes from time to time, and we were very happy with the selection. We also added the lobster roll, and our server thoughtfully timed it so we could enjoy it alongside the warmer course. The meal began with two different oysters, one topped with caviar, giving us another chance to enjoy it. Next was the shrimp cocktail, which included wasabi--but not in an overpowering way. The flavor was present yet balanced, allowing everything else to shine. The escargot course was especially creative and delicious, paired with basil oil, pepper jelly, and hints of balsamic. While it might sound unusual, the flavors blended beautifully. I expected the pepper jelly to dominate, but it was surprisingly subtle. Next was the potato pavé served with a scallop. The textures were remarkably similar, and the scallop was cooked perfectly. The lobster roll was very good, though I personally found the bread a bit denser than I prefer--I usually like a more buttery, Texas-toast style--but my partner loved it. The turbot followed, accompanied by a chestnut beurre blanc that was incredibly silky and flavorful. It paired wonderfully with the king trumpet mushrooms, black truffle and the fish. The final tasting course was the petit fours: three small cakes--matcha, red velvet, and ginger molasses. They were slightly dense, but still a nice way to end the meal. We also added the house-made basil ice cream (because the basil oil earlier was so good), and that was an excellent decision. Although my birthday had been a few months earlier, once the staff heard we were using a birthday gift card, they surprised me with vanilla ice cream, sprinkles, and a candle--such a thoughtful and unexpected touch. They also treated us to a small glass of dessert wine. By the end of the night, we knew we had found our new favorite place to celebrate. The overall experience is absolutely worth the price point, and I only wish more places were like Mink. We can't wait to return.

If everything is as good as what we ordered this time, I can't wait to try more! Firstly, the natural lighting in here is just fantastic, and I really like the layout - you have a bit more space than some of the other downtown restaurants, and it's fairly quiet. Nice cozy booth seating as well as chairs. The gated parking lot is also a huge plus downtown and service was absolutely excellent. We came on a Sunday to try their all day happy hour, and it did not disappoint. $2 oysters meant that we ordered 2 dozen, and while the east coast varieties tend to be our favorite, their west coast selection was also top notch. Just lovely, salty, briny fresh oysters with a great mignonette. We also both ordered dirty martinis, and they're perfect for $8. We also had the focaccia which comes with this amazing tomato pesto - it tasted like pizza concentrated into a sauce. Yum! And the focaccia is perfect - the kind of bread that makes you remember why bread is so good. Pillowy and soft inside, toasted crispy outside; an amazing app. For dinner, we had the squid ink and seafood pasta, the wild striped bass and the lamb. Everything was absolutely so delicious and perfectly cooked. They split the pasta for us, which was very nice, and I just can't get over the delicious unique flavor of that dish. Outstanding. This pasta is the kind of pasta you want to order when you go out. Lots of yummy seafood, perfectly seasoned al dente pasta, savory sauce. The bass was the most perfectly cooked piece of fish I've had in a long time - crispy skin, tender moist flesh, buttery sauce. And lastly, I was super impressed with the lamb - it was tender yet crispy on the edges, savory and satisfying. If a seafood restaurant is doing lamb this well, I've got to see what else they have to offer. Can't wait to try the tasting menu. Even hubby was impressed and had zero complaints about anything, and he's tough to please. What a gem of a restaurant.

My first impression: Noisy! Lots of hard surfaces. Difficult to hear the hostess, server and my wife. The tables were appropriately spaced for diners and servers to work with no bump & grind. We started by sharing a dozen oysters and the pear/walnuts salad. The oysters were a bit small-ish; but otherwise, excellent. Server took a drink order from my wife, but skipped me. Eh? I flagged down another server to order a Pino. It took a surprisingly long time to arrive. On the plus side, I was offered a taste to insure it was satisfactory - it was. The pear salad w/walnuts was excellent. The pears were sliced paper-thin. One of the joys of eating a properly ripened pear is the juicy explosion and thinly sliced pears defeat the juicy explosion. If the pears were fully ripe, perhaps cube them? Weirdly; the two sides (mushrooms, potatoes) were served before the entrees. The server noticed, seemed surprised and withdrew the sides, returning with our entrees (lamb shoulder, steak). Then the side returned. Both entrees were warm-ish and the sides were hot. The 14-day, dry-aged steak was ordered medium-rare and was seasoned and prepared as ordered. Again; warm-ish, not hot. I expected better beefy flavor for a dry-aged steak. One end was a bit chewy. Tenderness improved as I got to the other end of the steak. I ordered it with horseradish. I will admit to being a weirdo who loves spicy horseradish (and wasabi) that will clean the sinuses - this was "Ohio-spice'd" horseradish ... not creamy, but less spicy than Arby's Horsey sauce. The mushroom and the potato sides were served hot from the kitchen. Both were excellent, no complaints. The presentation of the steak needs improvement. It was a properly prepared, lonely lump of brown, served on a white plate with cracked ceramic glaze. The lamb shoulder was the better entree. For some reason, my wife was expecting Middle Eastern seasoning. The menu did not mention Middle Eastern seasoning and she did not ask, so that's on her, not the kitchen. I thought it was excellent. Gripe: After the entrees arrived, our server did not return to ask if the entrees were satisfactory. She did return later to ask if we wanted a second round of drinks. We did ... We were offered dessert and ordered, but never asked if we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. Both desserts were excellent. Will we return? Probably ... not. With tip; dinner for two was $286. At this price point I expect better: Less noise, better beef and flawless service.

Starting with the maître D, carried over to both the waitress and our table server, everyone was polite, courteous, and very attentive. Looking over the list of appetizers, we went with the calamari. About 10 minutes later, it showed up and as it turned out, the portion was good for the four of us. The calamari was not rubbery, but prepared exactly how you would want it. It has a bit of a kick to it, but not so much as to be overwhelming. Before the calamari they brought us a bread basket with four types of breads for us to dip into a bowl of delicious tasting sauce. Because this was a pregaming event, we had to include a cocktail with our dinner. Two of us went with a Woodford reserve old-fashion made to perfection. There's quite a few choices of entrées to choose from and being this is a seafood restaurant I went with the servers recommendation and chose the "Dover". As part of the experience, they fillet the fish right in front of you. A nice touch. The fish was out of this world good. Flaky white meat, with enough there to fill you up. Even with the filleting experience, they did miss a bone. But that happens. No problem. With a choice of sides I went with the steamed spinach. A rather small portion, but it was very good. For the price you would've expected more. Beautiful view of the water looking over towards Canada. If ever in town again, this is a place I would return to.

We had tried to use them in 2022, but were told the restaurant was small and could not accommodate our party of 8, even early on a Sunday. Fast forward 4 years! We made a reservation for a party of 4. It would've been nice to know the restaurant was on the second floor with no elevator, but perhaps that is my lack of inquiry. We were warmly greeted. Our server was absolutely fantastic! She made wonderful recommendations, and our meal was delicious! We had the crab dip, cornbread muffins, fried chicken and catfish entrees with yams and collard greens. Our family is from the South (KY, NC, TN, VA, MS, & AL) and we cook southern food on a regular basis. The yams were perfectly cooked and sweetened. The collard greens had just enough density, not runny or too salty. YUM!!! The chicken was tasty and moist. Catfish was seasoned and prepared perfectly and absolutely delicious also. Served with Frank's! We finished it off with the skillet cookie dessert, shared by all. A great way to end a really wonderful meal. The restaurant wasn't busy, so food service could've been a little faster, but we enjoyed a leisurely early dinner. My only other comment is that with glass top tables, you almost have to use Windex when tables turn over. The water streaks on all the glass top just make it look more like a greasy spoon or diner and does not do justice to the great service or the quality of the food. I don't usually do catfish at home, so we will be back for more!
