Really great old school ambience, this restaurant is family owns, which is always great to support also! The food came out really fast and everything was great.

Old Fashioned

I would love to give Andrew's more stars. Well, I'm actually adding a star for the wonderful waitress. I can't recall her name, but she was very warm and hospitable. We sat outside for appetizers and drinks before a concert down the block. In fact, we paid to park in their lot for the show. It was super convenient and only $10. I didn't have a chance to go inside. Therefore, I can't offer any review on the interior. The drink that I ordered, an Old Fashioned, was ok. What I didn't care for at all were the pretzels with cheese. They reminded me of something one would order at a block party or small fair. The "cheese" was that bright yellowish orange stuff one would find in a can. It tasted like metal and was overall a complete turn-off. The table we sat at was next to a sewer grate. The smell made it a super short visit.

Yelp to the rescue! Nate and I were in the area looking for some food and drinks before a show at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre down the street. I hopped on Yelp and this place came up. I gave them a call to confirm they were open (highly recommend for small family owned spots like this) and indeed they were - score. I asked if they had on street parking and the bartender told me they have their own private lot - double score! We pulled in to the private lot and the owner was out there letting people know they couldn't park there for the concert. No worries for us, and we appreciated the heads up. We walked in through the back and got seated right away - it wasn't too busy yet around 5 pm on a Tuesday. It got quite a bit busier as we were leaving with lots of concertgoers. The tap list was more extensive than I was expecting, which was nice for Nate. The food menu was pretty basic bar fare; wings, sandwiches, burgers, and fried food baskets. No complaints here, it was just what we were looking for. The whole place gives a very Birch Lodge vibe, for any Grand Rapidians reading this. I ordered the chicken tenders and Nate got the corner club. Our food came out super quickly which was appreciated, as we were both pretty hungry. The chicken tenders were not quite what I was expecting; they looked like long chicken nuggets that you'd get at a school cafeteria. And that's basically what they were. But I am being 100% honest when I say I loved them! Probably a bit of a nostalgia factor there. They were super hot and fresh, and the fries were too. The club was stacked and had fresh lettuce and tomato and perfectly crispy bacon. We couldn't complain about these simple bar meals. Our bartender was super slammed at this point but was doing a great job keeping up. The owner also stopped by our table to chat with us and was greeting everyone as they came in. This is a great spot for a pre-game meal or post-game drink. They do have some outdoor seating on the sidewalk in front which is nice. I'd come back!

"Famous" lake Erie perch sandwhich
Pat E.

A friend from out of town recommended this pub. Right by the river. Bar food was very good & would recommend their "famous" lake Erie perch sandwhich. Stick to beer and wine when ordering alcoholic beverages, so to minimize chances of being disappointed with a cocktail that may not be your liking. The service was good, but Staff can be overwhelmed if it gets too busy. (Expected during these times.) Met friendly owner who said business had been in the family over 100 years!!! Now that's saying something.

Buffalo wings
Jennifer W.

We were hanging out in the area when I said, "hey Andrews is on my list. Let's have lunch there". The customer service is phenomenal. The owner came to our table, and we had a conversation with him for a while. We had the buffalo wings as an appetizer. They were your regular buffalo wings. I also had the Cajun fish and chips and loved that catfish. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. My friend had the classic Reuben with fries and said that was very good also. I also had the Tequila Mockingbird cocktail and loved it. I'm definitely keeping Andrews on my list.

Went here on a trip to Detroit on the recommendation of a local. It was a great spot. Everyone was friendly, the drinks were well made and the location is right off the river walk. Hit up this long time family owned joint when you get a chance

It's always a challenge getting a few people to agree on what to do for lunch so when my neighbor…read morein the cube farm suggested getting a salad today, the "lunch bunch" walked to 7 Greens today. We arrived smack in the middle of the lunch rush with a queue out to the door but it did move quickly. The menu board has some suggestions for their pre-designed salads, bowls, burritos and smoothies. Or you can "build your own" on the fly and like Subway and Chipotle (but way better!), they add the ingredients as it goes down the line. I decided to stick with the "Kare Bear" - Romaine base with BBQ chicken, hard-boiled egg, bacon, avocado, cheddar cheese, tomatoes and red onion with their ranch sauce. It sounds like a Cobb Salad to me. I watched the young lady assemble the ingredients and toss it together then pour it into a cardboard bowl. $15.25 plus tax. Remember to grab a fork if you don't already have one at your desk. It was a bit too busy to eat in today and it was a bit too warm to sit outside. So we brought it back to the office where I demolished this huge and delicious salad. It's not cheap but it is fresh and it feels healthy. I would absolutely choose 7 Greens again for lunch. Kitchen is an open concept in the back right of the restaurant. Big bar in the middle and tables/booths throughout. Went with some friends, so we ordered a fair amount of food to try. We ordered the hummus with lamb, the crispy potatoes, falafel, and the mixed grill. Before getting into the food, quick shout out to our waitress. She was amazing. Very attentive without being too much. Walked us through the menu. Was patient with us. I would have gone back for that alone. The food rocked. The hummus with lamb was my friends' favorite. I thought it was very good. Ample serving as well. That goes for everything. No skimpy servings. Almost $20 for hummus with lamb seems a bit pricy but well worth it. The crispy potatoes were very good. The jalapeño added a little kick which opened up the sinuses. Would order again. The falafel was the best I've had. Perfectly fried. Very nice flavor. Could have just eaten those all night and been extremely happy. Finally, the mixed grill was great. It came with chicken, ribeye, kofta, some veggies, rice, and pita. My one complaint would be that the pita was so soggy when it came because it was under the meat and some sauces which was a little unfortunate. Still a good pita though. The chicken was good. Nothing mind blowing. Nice char. My friends really liked it, so different strokes I guess. The ribeye chunks were nice. Solid medium rare-medium cook on them. Solid marinade/seasoning. Not chewy or fatty which was a bonus cause you never know with steak. Finally, the star of the show which was the kofta. If I go back, I only need kofta as my main. I'm not a huge kofta guy but this might have converted me. Grilled to perfection. The lamb was not too overpowering which can sometimes be the case. Very good portion as well (2 big pieces). Rice and veggies were standard. Nothing special; by no means bad. Highly recommend. Can't go wrong here. Curious how similar it is to Phoenicia in Bham (need to try that). 5 big stars.

We shared each appetizer and entree. I'll add pictures to show the yumminess. And the warm most hand towels after the meal add a great final touch. Possibly the only downside is it was crowded downtown and valet was $20 as a result. But besides that, I highly recommend!!

Seating is limited, service is bad. They open at 12pm on a Sunday and I had called at 12.05 to check if they have a waiting , they first refused to put us on wait list on the phone which is ok, next they mention (at 12.05pm) they already had a waiting of 45 min. While we did place the order on the phone to pick up in 20-25 min, when we arrived we did find a couple seats empty and for some reason they were discouraging us to get a seat when we had mentioned multiple times that we would like to dine in and only take togo if there is a long waiting. There were people waiting outside on the picnic style tables they have which they call "outdoor seating". They were not waiting to be seated as well and just waiting for their pizza to go when we asked. While taking the pizza we asked if we can get some water they refused they don't have water for to go! I already had placed a cola for togo so it was hard to imagine that they have colas but no water?!?!? Service is exceptionally bad for our experience and this will highly discourage us to even try this place again anytime soon
