First time trying Cava and I was super excited to try it, since hearing so many good things about it. However, this location was not the best first time experience. The restaurant was not fully clean, some the tables were cleaned off but the chairs and the floors were still dirty. Who wants to sit in trash? Also, they ran out of items to add in our bowl. When we ask if they could check to see if they were out for the day or just the moment, the girl did not. Very lackluster service, not welcoming. And that jasmine green tea, purely disgusting! The steak for the bowls were not seasoned well & tasted poorly cleaned. Only thing good was the braised lamb. I'm not sure if I would return. I was not really impressed at all. I ordered a salad based bowl. Hardly any salad....As if you don't order rice then you can't have salad. Online ordering reflected "no grilled vegetables and no pita bread" but when I picked up my order there were vegetables on the line and pita bread. I've ordered from this location twice, with both times being a pick-up order and, for the most part, things have gone well. My favorite item is the Garlicky chicken shawarma bowl. I don't modify anything and I just keep with everything that already comes with it, and it tasted great each time. My one gripe is that as big as the bowl is, you would think they could fill it a little more, but I guess that is their way of perhaps getting customers to order a double scoop next time. The total cost of the bowl with no modifications will run you about $13. I can't speak much about the service since I am in and out so quickly as I pick up my carry-out order, but it does seem like for the most part everyone is in good spirits. I'm curious about trying their falafel bowl, so I think when ordering again that would be my next choice. read more

I've been here a couple times already and I've always enjoyed each meal. I suggest ordering online at least 2 hours in advanced if you don't want to wait in line. It's still really busy even though they've been open for a few months now. You can build your own bowl or pick from the options on the menu. I can't remember the bowls I've had but no bowl has been bad that I've eaten. I absolutely love the cinnamon pita chips that come with the honey to dip in. I get it every time I go. They have a few different fruit drinks/lemonades you can try but I've never had any of them yet. This is now one of my favorite places to go. The bowls are huge and the staff is always friendly. Service can take some time but I won't say they are slow, it's just busy. Get here soon! read more

I went to CAVA today for the first time, and was met with a level of customer service that I've never had in the city before. The entire staff: Chaniya, MK, Alex, Tela, and Elliya were so kind, approachable, helpful and happy! I didn't have to wait for my order at all, and when I left, - before even tasting the food, I let them know that I'd be back - just off the customer service alone. So to whomever the supervisor is, please know that you have an amazing crew, and as a customer, city employee and resident of the city of Detroit, I will happily continue to patronize. Visiting Detroit for the weekend. I was super excited to visit CAVA but was very disappointed with my visit. I waited 10 minutes (yes I timed it) from the moment one person started making my bowl, walked away, then waited for another person to come finish making it. Then they barely put anything inside my bowl. When I asked for a little more, I was told I would be charged extra. I took a photo... it looks like a kids bowl. Not work $12... it was a $5 bowl. My good friend and I went to the grand opening of this Cava location in downtown Detroit. It was a party! They had a DJ outside, free icecream, free dips, and the wait in line actually went by so fast considering how many people were there. Between food and garbage. My salad was great except for the dry pieces of beef jerky they call steak. Tiny inedible peas size pieces of dry garbage mixed in with my salad that I had to pick out to avoid ingesting them. Avoid at all costs. They should not be allowed to serve this as food for humans. The staff was amazing! Ambiance 10/10! Very clean, very peaceful for a Downtown location with all the noise and madness outside. Parking is in front of the store, literally but be careful they might give out tickets depending on the day. So keep an eye out on your car or have someone wait in the car if possible The food was even better! 10/10 I got Steak + Harissa with their spicy chicken to add into the bowl. Tomatoes, Corn, Feta Cheese and I got Garlic Dressing and Spicy Harissa Dressing on the side S/O to Carhissa (I believe that's how you spell her name, sorry if I misspelled it) -- I didn't know what to drink, so she told me to mix Blueberry Soda with Mexican Cola and it was soooooooo good! This is the second time I went to this location. They never have the potatoes. They never have all the proteins the employees have a terrible attitude. They honestly look like they have poor training and never wanna be at work poor management. One of the employees was making it to go order and he took a chocolate chip cookie and threw it across the kitchen like it was a basketball trying to make it into the bag and he missed and it fell on the floor and he picked it up and threw it back on the counter. read more

The other was in the back watching and one was eating at the register. The employee building bowls had a frown on his face and was not friendly to talk to. When living temporarily in Cali, Cava was my go-to. I was excited for Detroit to have one. But the food is NOT GOOD. Pita chips are never fresh & taste kinda stale, the meatballs literally taste artificial and freezer burned, and the food lacks freshness all around. & Multiple people I know (including myself) are getting food poisoning from this place!! I've been waiting to try this location,, but Can't rate the food because we never got it. Went in on a Saturday night, one couple ahead of us. There were 4 people working. No one wanted to wait on us, the girl at the cashier area literally walked away from 2 couples without speaking or helping. this is unfortunate because I really wanted them to be good. I stay downtown so I've tried them now four times since they've opened a couple weeks ago. They have been out of items every single day besides today. I just ordered a chicken garlic bowl and got home and I left off the chicken completely. When I called down to thel restaurant they gave me two options and we're very rude about it. First, they said I could go on the app and request a refund. Or, I could go all the way back to their restaurant downtown and they would make me a new bowl and still charge me full price. I ask, why would they not refund and she question me asking why do I think I deserve it. Why should I not get a refund if I come back and to get a bowl I already paid for it and that it was their fault for messing up. The customer service is not good, they're out of ingredients on a regular, seems like Chipotle next-door. I would definitely avoid both. I called down to the store and the manager told me to come down, and they would give me a refund. I went all the way back downtown to the store, and they refused to give me a refund. They said since I ordered their app they could not do it. They would only give me my receipt, told me to take a picture of it, and send an email and I would hear back within a week or so. The worst chicken Shawarma I've ever had!!! I placed an online order at 1:41pm, online said order will be ready at 2:45pm, I arrived at 2:51pm (food wasn't ready, which was fine). I work in the First National building so I didn't have far to go. I take my Shawarma out the bag, the wrapping is drenched, in what I don't know... open it it, the pita is soaking wet, soggy, and cold!!!!!!!! WTF... I'm so upset, but also starving...
