This was my first time trying Breadless after hearing so many good things, and overall, my experience was just okay. I ordered the Southwest Bowl, which was decent but a bit under-seasoned and not particularly memorable. However, I also tried the Jerk Chicken Sandwich, and that one was definitely the highlight. It was flavorful, nicely seasoned, and spicier than I expected. The staff were friendly, though not especially helpful when it came to making recommendations. I did mention it was my first time, so I was hoping for a bit more guidance on what to try. It's mainly a takeout spot, but they do have a few tables inside and some nice outdoor seating, which would be great on a nice day. I plan to give them another try soon because I think it might've just been the menu item I chose. For now, I'd give them a solid three stars, but I'll update my review after my next visit. read more

My food was ready shortly after I pulled up, much appreciated for a lunch run. The food was so fresh, flavorful, and large portion. I love the no bread options. The food is so fresh and tasty. They also have bowls and chips to complement the entrees.

Best part is there is parking in an adjoined lot. The food is fresh. I've enjoyed the braised collard greens in a bowl with an abundance of veggies and chicken. Staff is pleasant. Service has been consistent. They have outdoor seating if you don't want to do the standard carryout. I visited during the warm weather season. I have been back twice. I am a huge fan of Breadless. One of my favorite lunch spots in all of Detroit. The quality of the sandwich here is unmatched. To call it a lettuce wrap is really underselling it. It's a full on, tightly wrapped sandwich that utilizes its wrap perfectly. They use Swiss Chard and it works extremely well. They're not just stuffing meat in iceberg lettuce (cough *Jimmy Johns* cough). It's an incredibly well crafted sandwich using high quality wraps. No one else does the unwich like them. Literally, it isn't close. Secondly, the quality of their lunch meat is awesome, particularly their pastrami. I like my pastrami marbled (a little fatty) and with tons of flavor. I don't want glorified roast beef. Breadless's pastrami is incredible and is one of the few restaurants who serve it at a value (Hygrade Deli would be the only other one I can think of, I believe Frank's has stopped carrying it). The pastrami on Breadless's Pastrami Classic would normally garner an $18 price tag. They don't price it anywhere close to that. That's why it's become my go to for lunch. The value is incredible! I have never had a bad experience with a sandwich being poorly wrapped, which is surprising because it's a fairly difficult process. Everyone who works there is great at their job and take what could be a difficult concept and execute it beautifully. Breadless is Rivertown on Joesph Campau and I love the location, as I love Rivertown. It's got a nice parking lot, though it can be a bit hidden so keep your eyes out when going over there read more

Really nice alternative to less-healthy, readily available sandwiches. I enjoyed the menu choices and settled on the Detroit Oyster Club with mushrooms, avocado, arugula, onion, and tomatoes wrapped in Swiss chard. It was really good, fresh and flavorful. I felt good eating it. It's priced just right, IMO, at $10+. My only complaint was that the chard was a little cumbersome, but I think that could be resolved by wrapping in a more pliable leaf or wrapping tighter. There are lots of drinks available as well as treats. I'll be rooting for this restaurant. It's a great concept. The parking lot is huge. Phenomenal sandwich ! Great service. The counter person was patient with me as it was my first experience trying out Breadless. She thoroughly answered each of my questions and once I made my selection she affirmed my choice by giving me a thumbs up and merely stating, "that's one of our best sellers." I ordered the jerk chicken & mango sandwich and it did not disappoint . The chicken was moist and well seasoned... it was jerkin'! The mango and (bbq?) sauce were the perfect counter balance. The fact that it was breadless (wrapped in swiss chard leaves) made it light enough to prevent a food coma yet surprisingly very filling. So filling, in fact, that I couldn't even try the empanada spot next door (Emapchio - on my list for next visit). Loved the few tables out front. Today, we ordered "build your own" bowls for the office - honestly, I thought people would be able to assemble their own bowls, but they came as individual bowls with the items I had chosen. It all ended up working out because the ingredients they use are all so fresh and delicious. Their meats are very high quality, and I appreciate that their chicken is halal. We ordered 2 kinds of bowls - one with braised beef and one with chicken - they were delicious and all the toppings were vibrant. The salad was also nice and fresh, and all the sauces are homemade. I think the bowls are the way to go for catering - they're so easy to grab and go and not as messy as the lettuce wraps. What a great concept! Fresh meats and veggies served contentiously without bread. The most flavorful bowls, salads and veggie wraps. Most wraps are some type of green; turnip, collard while the bowls are riced cauliflower. The riced cauliflower still has small bite size pieces making it more of a rough chop providing a satisfying texture as well. I tried the Jerk Chicken sandwich, it was so succulent and chocked full of delicious veggies, cheese and sauce. I wanted to try the sorbet, maybe next time. I ate here last fall/winter. It's hard to find a dedicated salad shop in Detroit that's open during "none work hours". Anyway, had the Buckwild bowl. I ordered take out instead of driving into the city because it was cold outside. I wasn't super impressed with this item. It didn't really transport well- I definitely should have ate inside instead. I recently went back and this time I ordered and ate at the restaurant. Nice outdoor patio. I ordered the Southx313 rice bowl. It was amazing. Reminds me of a chipotle bowl but better.... I don't know why it's taken me so long to try this place. Easily the best convenience food in Detroit. The quality of ingredients is amazing. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get a lettuce wrap from anywhere else, it was made so well. AND the prices were pretty good for the quality of food. 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks, and 2 sides for $24. A much better deal than any of the chain sandwich places. I also want to mention their hours. This is the most reasonable sandwich/salad/bowl place in the city. Came here for a workday lunch and the food was okay! Created a build your own bowl, didn't love the guac as it didn't taste very fresh, and the potatoes were giant slices so can be difficult to eat. I had high hopes, but unfortunately, I found Breadless mediocre. I had the buckwild lunch box, the whole wrap was soggy and leaky. I expect some of that, sure, but this was almost mush. The bacon was overly sweet and completely limp, I picked it out. I think the Swiss chard was too intense of a flavor for me. I should have substituted it, but the basic beech in me would have wanted iceberg lettuce and that wasn't available. The roasted chicken was tender and flavorful. Skip the coleslaw, flavor was not good, lacked the bright tanginess you want with your crunchy bite. The pickle it came with was soggy, no crisp to that thing, it may as well have been a spaghetti noodle. It was mostly sweet and on the cusp of sour. I also tried the halal jerk chicken and falafel. The chicken had good flavor, but was on the verge of dry. I ordered bbq to dip, but they forgot it, I needed it. The falafel had no crunchy exterior, was dry, and lacked the savory herb flavors you want. I'd say, give it a try. Don't order what I did though. read more
