Our server, Daci, was super knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some great suggestions. It was a perfect night, and they had the windows that faced the street up so we could enjoy the spectacular weather. Shout out to Brie, too, who kept our water glasses full! Let's start with the adult libations: I loved this and want to remember it so I could have it again: $19 La Sacre [Juicy, Floral, Crisp] Botanical gin, hibiscus, peach, strawberry Oh yeah, the food was great, too!! We had: $13 Tabbouleh Parsley, mint, cracked wheat, tomato $24 Chicken Wings Eight wings, za'atar, lemon, toum, black pepper These wings were outstanding!! I'd go back for these again!! $14 Baba Ghanouj Eggplant puree (ours also included pomegranate seeds and some kind of sauce over top) There was a perfect amount of smoke to this. It's a large portion so be prepared to share! The pita that came with our meal was piping hot and so yummy and stayed tender even as it cooled. We also had a seasonal cauliflower with za'atar and other ingredients. Sadly the menu isn't updated online to refresh my memory on all ingredients. While I liked this, I really loved the wings and the baba ganouj. Our meal was perfectly paced, and we had plenty of time to drop our leftovers in the car on our way to Little Caesar's. I'd love to come back as it was overall a great experience! read more

Met friends for dinner and downtown was the most central point. One of my friends suggested this restaurant because it was open on a Monday and we all thought Mediterranean was a good choice. Parking is tricky in this area of downtown so I parked further away and walked. The exterior of the restaurant is what draws your eye first - it's very welcoming. Once inside, you are surrounded by high ceilings, beautiful decor, and spacious seating. We were seated at a table next to the open wall-window so it felt like outside (they do have outside seating as well). Our server was highly knowledgeable about both the drink and food offerings. She made lots of suggestions and helped us to make our choices. For a drink, they made me a Mule - it didn't have as much ginger beer as a typical Mule but that was okay - it was very refreshing. We started with hummus as an appetizer for the table. They offer different toppings with it but we went with the basic that came with pita and a small side of tuom. They make fresh pita all night long so it was hot when it arrived. Their hummus is the most fluffy and creamy I've ever had. It was a taste delight! I chose the Shish Tawook for my entree. The chicken was grilled and smelled amazing! It came with a few vegetables, rice, and a small side of tuom. It was so good! Due to the freshness of all the food, I did not feel weighed down or listless after eating, which is a good sign of healthy prepared food. Now that I know of another great choice in Detroit, I'll be bringing family and friends to this place in the future. The ambience was warm and welcoming, service was top notch, and the food was amazing! read more

The service, food, and vibes were all amazing here. I had heard great things and am so glad we got to check it out. The food all tasted great and we would definitely go back. The only thing I didn't like was that they boxed my food for me, but she didn't pack my whole plate. She left out the pita that was on my dish. I also would have loved to take home the rest of our hummus appetizer, but she took it without asking if we wanted it. We asked our server for more pita and she brought it to us no problem. However, we were a group of three and she brought out three slices of pita all in one tinfoil pack... they also brought out all of our leftovers in one bag. It just felt odd that at a high end restaurant they didn't double check. I would rather box up my own food than have you waste the food I was eating. And my own bag is helpful if I need to bring home a random slice of pita because there isn't enough tinfoil to go around ... read more

Leila is modern, boujee Lebanese food, and it's not reinventing the wheel, but they nail the execution. The falafel was perfect. Crispy outside, soft inside, and balanced, not one of those where one flavor stands out. The meat pie was kind of like a stone-fire pizza but with ground meat on top. Sounds weird, tastes amazing. And the hummus with ground lamb and pomegranate on it, so good!! Staff were really sweet. Only thing, they box up your leftovers for you and take the pita with it! I asked for more and they brought it out no problem. Drinks were delish but pricy. The ambiance is next level. It was gorgeous in there. If you want Lebanese food with a fancy twist and don't mind spending $$$, go to Leila. read more

The service was excellent. The staff was attentive and never let our water cups run dry. They were kind and helpful in offering menu suggestions. We really enjoyed the fried potatoe dish-Batata Harra the most and the roasted cauliflower. The plating was beautifully done for all dishes. We also enjoyed the eggplant dish- moutable and the rice. The dessert sticky date cake was tasty. I really enjoyed the drink: soft landing Unfortunately, The sea bass dish was salty to taste and the lamb chops were not tender. I would still go back to try more food, especially since we didn't try the hummus yet. read more

Dined here on a Monday night and it was very busy. I understand why. I ordered the Lamb Ribs. Yes. Never had before and these were great. Not to heavy and the dry rub was perfect. Not overpowering and the meat was able to be the star of the dish. I also ordered a side of the Broccolini. It was also very good. They gave me an order of pita bread with the garlic sauce. Garlic Sauce was a 10/10. The pita bread was just okay. It was very hot and fresh however it tasted like the flour it was rolled in. If you have ever been to Palm Palace ( I am dating myself), the pita bread tasted like soft pillows of dough heaven. Overall I give Leila Staff was great and the ambiance is very nice. Extra star for the playlist too. read more

I've had Leila on my list for ages and finally got the chance to stop in! It was still packed on a Sunday evening, but I got a table no problem and service was great! This place is amazing. The windows open to the outdoors overlooking the downtown streets - the incredible menu, and the excellent service are all why we love it. Loved all the items we got. We shared each appetizer and entree. I'll add pictures to show the yumminess. And the warm most hand towels after the meal add a great final touch. Possibly the only downside is it was crowded downtown and valet was $20 as a result. But besides that, I highly recommend!! read more

Had a great experience at Leila! The server was very friendly and definitely knew the menu- we took her recommendations for most of our choices and they did not disappoint. Wish I had taken more photos, but we really enjoyed the warm wood fired pita with all of our apps - including the hummus and tomato kibbeh. Cocktails (& mocktails!) were refreshing. The Lebanese sundae with the 'fairy floss' had great flavor but very strange texture! read more

I've been wanting to visit Leila for a while and finally got the chance to visit. The interior of the place is Beautiful... extremely impressive! The food is good but too simple to me for the price. I tried a few items including baba ghanouj, arayes and the shish tawook. All good but I do feel like in the Lebanese heavy area that is SW Michigan, you can find the same food for less. The drink I had was amazing though (i believe it was the Lebanita) and the chocolate crème brûlée was awesome as well... honestly I'd come back just for those two. I made a 6pm reservation on OpenTable for a Thursday. It wasn't too busy and we decided to sit outside, but the inside is very pretty and chic! The service was overall really good, although there was confusion over our main dish order, which was supposed to be the mixed grill and an order of shish kebab, but shish tawook came instead. However, the waiter quickly fixed this and we did not have to pay for the extra shish tawook. The beetroot salad was our favorite! It had a very clean taste. The hummus was good except a little too much "extra stuff" with the red peppers, pine nuts, etc -- it was too saucy in the middle with all of the extras in it. The pita was really good though. No GF alternatives for the bread. The mixed grill was also overall good, but maybe I'd try something else next time. We really enjoyed the meal overall! read more

Fantastic food, friendly service, great ambiance. I was in town for a conference and my Lebanese Uber driver recommended this spot to me, so I had to try it out. Leila did not disappoint! I had babaganoush to start, followed by Lamb chops and a side of broccolini. Everything was sooo delicious! 10/10. So rare to find a place where all the food is on point. I love this restaurant so much! It is my go to for upscale Lebanese food. You really can't go wrong, but I do love the ribs, the mixed grill, the meat "cigars", the fattoush salad, the wings, and the fair floss dessert to name a handful of items. The fairy floss sundae was on the 2024 NYT list of best things we ate and is a magical combination of ice cream, rose water fairy floss and pistachios. Service is about average or average plus but the vibe is incredible and the food itself is to die for. There's also a very wide selection of Middle Eastern spirits not available many other places and some creative cocktails made with them. read more

We'd been meaning to try Leila for quite some time and decided to make a reservation for a birthday dinner. We were seated immediately upon arrival, and we were pleased to find a hand-written card for the birthday celebrant. Our server was lovely, and we were impressed with the table sweep and refresh between our salad and dinner course. That's something you don't see much of anymore. Most everything we tried was delicious- olives, fattoush salad, shish tawook, beef kebob. The olives were earthy and tender. The fattoush salad was dressed and seasoned well. The chicken was tender and not at all dry and the steak was devoured before I got to try it. Two things I didn't love - The rice was way too greasy for my personal taste, but my dining partner loved it. And I found the toum to be a little too strong, especially as a "getting older" person who then will have trouble with heartburn all night, lol. The restaurant is gorgeous, the seating is comfortable and the table for two was big enough to not feel crowded while eating. read more

One of my top 2 favorite restaurants in the city! Have ate my way nearly through the entire menu and everything is amazing. Some of my top favorite dishes include: Baba Ghanouj, Muhammara, Chicken Wings, and the Salmon...but truly you can't go wrong ordering anything on the menu. The bread here is made fresh and delicious - careful not to fill up on the bread (it's easy to)! The cocktails here are also great. My favorite is Fresno Farewell (a mezcal forward drink). We came here for dinner recently - and wow! So so good. My single and only qualm was that I ordered the Baby Spice cocktail, which is listed as mezcal (I swapped for tequila), fig gin, raspberry, lime. It came as a very spicy drink. The server seemed confused when I questioned this, given the name. There is absolutely nothing listed in the ingredients that would suggest any spice, however. But anyway, beetroot and feta - delicious. The eggplant fettah - incredible. The depth of flavor and all the context in it was so good. The batata harra might have been the star of the night though. These potatoes were incredible. I need to learn how to make this. Then we shared the mixed grille. Everything was amazing. Excited to come back and try some other items! read more

From the moment you walk into Leila, you're greeted by a breathtaking blend of modern elegance and laid‑back comfort. The space, anchored by a massive central bar and topped with a dramatic circular chandelier, features plush brown leather banquettes, rose‑toned seating, black tile accents, and soaring ceilings framed by floor‑to‑ceiling windows overlooking Capitol Park. The open kitchen in the back hums with energy, with wood‑fired pita baking continuously... a vibrant, urban backdrop to your meal . Our appetizers were a great preview that our night was going to be awesome. Chicken Wings, encrusted with za'atar and served alongside tangy toum garlic sauce... they arrive piping hot, crisp-skinned, and deeply savory. Lentil Soup, warm and aromatic, offering comforting depth...the spices whisper of homestyle Sunday dinners. Falafel, impeccably fried: golden-crisp exteriors give way to tender, spiced interiors. Accompanied by tahini and pickled turnips, it's a mezze staple done right . Finally, Sujuk, spicy Armenian-style sausage simmered in tomato sauce... bold, hearty, and satisfying. We literally couldn't wait to get our hands on the entrees. Branzino, a filet of Mediterranean sea bass served over a bed of chickpeas, tomatoes, garlic, jalapeño, and cilantro. Light yet lively, with delicate fish balanced by bright, spicy, garden-fresh components. The Chicken in Markouk, a standout dish: voile‑soft, sumac‑y chicken and pine‑nut marinated dark and white meat, expertly wrapped in Lebanese flatbread. Textural and aromatic, one of Leila's signature mains, praised for its smoky-sumac depth and rich texture. Finally, to pretend to be sort of healthy, Mjaddara, often described as a spicy lentil cracked‑wheat salad, danced with jalapeños, tomatoes, onions, and caramelized onions, earthy and spice-laced.It was so good. The vibe at Leila is upscale yet effortlessly convivial. The dim lighting with black tables, banquettes, and napkins illuminated by ornate chandeliers and daylight streaming through massive windows. The service is top notch, attentive without being smothering and always on point. Like I said, Leila feels like Detroit's best-kept secret--a place where each dish is imbued with familial warmth and cosmopolitan polish. Whether you're craving mezze‑driven sharing plates or fragrant, chef-driven mains, this restaurant delivers an experience that's visually stunning, emotionally resonant, and gastronomically unforgettable. Bottom Line: Go hungry, gather friends, and order widely. Leila's refined ambiance, impeccable service, and soulful flavors make it not just one of Detroit's top dining destinations--but a place you'll keep returning to, again and again. read more

What an amazing experience at Leila's and a must when in downtown Detroit! This is a Lebanese and Mediterranean restaurant that will not disappoint. A beautiful restaurant! We were served by Abraham and he was outstanding! Aside from his amazing hospitality skills, he had a deep knowledge of the menu and explained how everything was prepared. The Haloumi and Hummus with Hashwi were so delicious and these come in generous portions to share. I went here for someone's birthday! It had a nice ambience. The restaurant is tucked around the corner but you can always park in the garage or street parking. Stopped in for dinner and was very pleased with the whole experience. Made a reservation (maybe not necessary) but it filled up so I would recommend. Cool spot that they have. Kitchen is an open concept in the back right of the restaurant. Big bar in the middle and tables/booths throughout. Went with some friends, so we ordered a fair amount of food to try. We ordered the hummus with lamb, the crispy potatoes, falafel, and the mixed grill. Before getting into the food, quick shout out to our waitress. She was amazing. Very attentive without being too much. Walked us through the menu. Was patient with us. I would have gone back for that alone. The food rocked. The hummus with lamb was my friends' favorite. I thought it was very good. Ample serving as well. That goes for everything. No skimpy servings. Almost $20 for hummus with lamb seems a bit pricy but well worth it. The crispy potatoes were very good. The jalapeño added a little kick which opened up the sinuses. Would order again. The falafel was the best I've had. Perfectly fried. Very nice flavor. Could have just eaten those all night and been extremely happy. Finally, the mixed grill was great. It came with chicken, ribeye, kofta, some veggies, rice, and pita. My one complaint would be that the pita was so soggy when it came because it was under the meat and some sauces which was a little unfortunate. Still a good pita though. The chicken was good. Nothing mind blowing. Nice char. My friends really liked it, so different strokes I guess. The ribeye chunks were nice. Solid medium rare-medium cook on them. Solid marinade/seasoning. Not chewy or fatty which was a bonus cause you never know with steak. Finally, the star of the show which was the kofta. If I go back, I only need kofta as my main. I'm not a huge kofta guy but this might have converted me. Grilled to perfection. The lamb was not too overpowering which can sometimes be the case. Very good portion as well (2 big pieces). Rice and veggies were standard. Nothing special; by no means bad. Highly recommend. Can't go wrong here. Curious how similar it is to Phoenicia in Bham (need to try that). 5 big stars. read more

Food was amazing. We had a reservation and were seated immediately; the place was not completely full so you probably do a walk in for a Friday night but it was an early dinner so I would recommend a reservation. We had the Hummus with chicken and the crispy potatoes, so flavorful and excellent appetizers. The hummus was some of the best I've had. The table also got the tawook (chicken) and the mixed grill. Next time I'll get the kebab since the steak/ribeye was soooo good. Generous portions and excellent patio location right in the middle of downtown but not close to the street. Tarek was our server and he was great - funny and kind. Highly recommend read more

Great place. First time at Leila. We got seated outside which was very relaxing and comfortable. Nice summer warm breeze. All was good. Service was top notch. Very attentive and helpful. I will say more later on service. The food. We ended up not ordering a main entre as we had started with a few mezze or appetizers which ended up being enough. We started with hummus and a Lebanese salad. Served with the freshest pita bread. Literally from the oven piping hot. As my niece would say, So so good! Two of us tried the lentil soup. Delicious. So tasty. By the time we got through those dishes we were debating what else to try. Those dishes had us satisfied so we were not hungry for much more. We opted to try the spiced potatoes with jalapeño. Very good!! Amazing tasty food. So much so we want to go back and try some other dishes. Okay, I said I mention more about service. We ended having some of the potato dish left over and one pita. We asked to have them boxed up. Just as we were about to leave I realized we didn't get the pita. We asked the server if he can grab it for us as we saw it was over on their work station. He said no no. I will get you some fresh pita to take. Omg. That was awesome. That's how you run a restaurant!! Overall we enjoyed the time at Leila. Food, ambiance and service were great. Will be coming back!! read more

It's nice to be hosted when we come to town. Aaliyah is part of the Midwest office and an authority on Lebanese cuisine. This means a phenomenal experience ahead for us! Leila is a gorgeous, stylish restaurant with a romantic ambiance that really prepares you for the authentic meal that awaits. At first I was concerned about the smaller portion size. Since we love to share, would there be enough? Aaliyah recognized this and put all fears to rest by ordering six openers. Soups and Salads. All of which were the perfect combination of texture, flavour and temperature. My vegetarian cousin will love this place. My new found favourite is Beetroot & Feta. Priceless. For those in the know, Leila puts a unique spin on some of the more common Lebanese dishes. All I can say is they were all delicious and I could easily see myself here a lot. The servers and staff were wonderful and provided top-notch service. Of course I didn't get a look at the final bill and it's extremely inappropriate to ask, but I don't think the costs are terribly out of line. It truly was a memorable experience. Next we visit the motor city, we have a definite go-to in Leila! 02/25 read more

Finally visited Leila after having it on my list for a while, and though I had a decent overall experience, there were definitely a few misses. The place is beautiful. Love the bar lighting and the huge, wall-length wine cellar. Definitely feels upscale yet inviting. Food was mostly good. My wife and I split the Shish Tawook, Shish Kebab, and lentil soup. The chicken and steak dishes were delicious, though tbh a bit overpriced (there's so much great Mediterranean food around for less). The soup was disappointing... watery and lacking flavor (could've improved with a bit of lemon and salt, but neither were on the table nor offered). As a certified wine nerd, one of the things that made me want to try this place was its wine list. However, our server knew absolutely nothing about wine -- he seemed genuinely confused by simple questions, and when I ordered a bottle, he had no idea what I was asking for so he had me point on the list and then he TOOK OUR WINE LIST so he could go find the wine, then never brought it back. A bit nitpicky, but he was also not great at pouring and kept spilling a bit on the sides of the glass and bottle. There's also one glaring mistake -- a bottle from a very famous producer is mislabeled as the top wine from that producer, when it is in fact the second label they make. I asked the server if there was a Somm there so I could point it out, but apparently no one who knew wine was around... on a Friday night! So weird for a place with a solid list. Otherwise, the server was friendly enough, albeit a bit slow to come back to take our food orders after the wine ordeal. Food came out quickly, though, so the kitchen was moving. I'd consider coming back as I did enjoy the vibe, most of the food, and the wine list (even if no one seems to know anything about it), but it's nowhere near the top of my list. read more

Randomly chose this, and I'm glad I did - it turned out to be a great experience. Sat at the bar and ordered four mezzes and some wine. The service was welcoming and attentive. Started with the grape leaves - they were too cold, otherwise well done, not too mushy or stringy. Next were the falafel, which were large balls that came with some lightly pickled cauliflower and jalapeno slices in a tahini-yogurt-y type sauce. The falafel had an interesting flavor, the cauliflower was perfect, and it was a substantial dish. The sujuk Armenian sausage was zesty and served in a light tomato stew. The haloumi, which was rather expensive at $23 for fried cheese, was nonetheless tasty and in the end worth the price; the pomegranates provided a nice texture, juice and sweetness contrast. The Lebanese blend red wine from the Bekka Valley was a good accompaniment; light and slightly fruity, like a gamay. read more
