Mixed Grill
Robin M

Food was amazing. We had a reservation and were seated immediately; the place was not completely full so you probably do a walk in for a Friday night but it was an early dinner so I would recommend a reservation. We had the Hummus with chicken and the crispy potatoes, so flavorful and excellent appetizers. The hummus was some of the best I've had. The table also got the tawook (chicken) and the mixed grill. Next time I'll get the kebab since the steak/ribeye was soooo good. Generous portions and excellent patio location right in the middle of downtown but not close to the street. Tarek was our server and he was great - funny and kind. Highly recommend

Fantastic food, friendly service, great ambiance. I was in town for a conference and my Lebanese Uber driver recommended this spot to me, so I had to try it out. Leila did not disappoint! I had babaganoush to start, followed by Lamb chops and a side of broccolini. Everything was sooo delicious! 10/10. So rare to find a place where all the food is on point. Next time I'm in Detroit, I'll be back at Leila!

I love this restaurant so much! It is my go to for upscale Lebanese food. You really can't go wrong, but I do love the ribs, the mixed grill, the meat "cigars", the fattoush salad, the wings, and the fair floss dessert to name a handful of items. The fairy floss sundae was on the 2024 NYT list of best things we ate and is a magical combination of ice cream, rose water fairy floss and pistachios. Service is about average or average plus but the vibe is incredible and the food itself is to die for. There's also a very wide selection of Middle Eastern spirits not available many other places and some creative cocktails made with them.

We'd been meaning to try Leila for quite some time and decided to make a reservation for a birthday dinner. We were seated immediately upon arrival, and we were pleased to find a hand-written card for the birthday celebrant. Our server was lovely, and we were impressed with the table sweep and refresh between our salad and dinner course. That's something you don't see much of anymore. Most everything we tried was delicious- olives, fattoush salad, shish tawook, beef kebob. The olives were earthy and tender. The fattoush salad was dressed and seasoned well. The chicken was tender and not at all dry and the steak was devoured before I got to try it. Two things I didn't love - The rice was way too greasy for my personal taste, but my dining partner loved it. And I found the toum to be a little too strong, especially as a "getting older" person who then will have trouble with heartburn all night, lol. The restaurant is gorgeous, the seating is comfortable and the table for two was big enough to not feel crowded while eating.

Salmon - cooked to perfection!

One of my top 2 favorite restaurants in the city! Have ate my way nearly through the entire menu and everything is amazing. Some of my top favorite dishes include: Baba Ghanouj, Muhammara, Chicken Wings, and the Salmon...but truly you can't go wrong ordering anything on the menu. The bread here is made fresh and delicious - careful not to fill up on the bread (it's easy to)! The cocktails here are also great. My favorite is Fresno Farewell (a mezcal forward drink). Overall: great food + great service. Intimate dining inside or the perfect patio to enjoy on a summer evening.

From the moment you walk into Leila, you're greeted by a breathtaking blend of modern elegance and laid‑back comfort. The space, anchored by a massive central bar and topped with a dramatic circular chandelier, features plush brown leather banquettes, rose‑toned seating, black tile accents, and soaring ceilings framed by floor‑to‑ceiling windows overlooking Capitol Park. The open kitchen in the back hums with energy, with wood‑fired pita baking continuously... a vibrant, urban backdrop to your meal . Our appetizers were a great preview that our night was going to be awesome. Chicken Wings, encrusted with za'atar and served alongside tangy toum garlic sauce... they arrive piping hot, crisp-skinned, and deeply savory. Lentil Soup, warm and aromatic, offering comforting depth...the spices whisper of homestyle Sunday dinners. Falafel, impeccably fried: golden-crisp exteriors give way to tender, spiced interiors. Accompanied by tahini and pickled turnips, it's a mezze staple done right . Finally, Sujuk, spicy Armenian-style sausage simmered in tomato sauce... bold, hearty, and satisfying. We literally couldn't wait to get our hands on the entrees. Branzino, a filet of Mediterranean sea bass served over a bed of chickpeas, tomatoes, garlic, jalapeño, and cilantro. Light yet lively, with delicate fish balanced by bright, spicy, garden-fresh components. The Chicken in Markouk, a standout dish: voile‑soft, sumac‑y chicken and pine‑nut marinated dark and white meat, expertly wrapped in Lebanese flatbread. Textural and aromatic, one of Leila's signature mains, praised for its smoky-sumac depth and rich texture. Finally, to pretend to be sort of healthy, Mjaddara, often described as a spicy lentil cracked‑wheat salad, danced with jalapeños, tomatoes, onions, and caramelized onions, earthy and spice-laced.It was so good. The vibe at Leila is upscale yet effortlessly convivial. The dim lighting with black tables, banquettes, and napkins illuminated by ornate chandeliers and daylight streaming through massive windows. The service is top notch, attentive without being smothering and always on point. Like I said, Leila feels like Detroit's best-kept secret--a place where each dish is imbued with familial warmth and cosmopolitan polish. Whether you're craving mezze‑driven sharing plates or fragrant, chef-driven mains, this restaurant delivers an experience that's visually stunning, emotionally resonant, and gastronomically unforgettable. Bottom Line: Go hungry, gather friends, and order widely. Leila's refined ambiance, impeccable service, and soulful flavors make it not just one of Detroit's top dining destinations--but a place you'll keep returning to, again and again.

What an amazing experience at Leila's and a must when in downtown Detroit! This is a Lebanese and Mediterranean restaurant that will not disappoint. A beautiful restaurant! We were served by Abraham and he was outstanding! Aside from his amazing hospitality skills, he had a deep knowledge of the menu and explained how everything was prepared. The Haloumi and Hummus with Hashwi were so delicious and these come in generous portions to share. We also had the sticky date cake which paired with the Lebanese sundae, it was a match made in heaven. I highly recommend to try this place and if you can ask for Abraham, you will not be disappointed.

I went here with my friend for my birthday and it was such a great experience. The staff were so friendly and the service was quick even for a busy night. The food was absolutely delicious and I would definitely want to go back to try more of their dishes. Everything we got was a hit. The cocktails were great as well. We will definitely be going back to Leila

We celebrated my mom's birthday at Leila and had such a great experience! We tried the lentil soup, hummus, beets, the meat platter, fish, and potatoes--everything was delicious and super flavorful. We finished with dessert and it was the perfect birthday treat. The whole table enjoyed the food and we had a wonderful time celebrating. The beautiful interior makes it a perfect place for an occasion. Such a lovely spot in Detroit!

I went here for someone's birthday! It had a nice ambience. The restaurant is tucked around the corner but you can always park in the garage or street parking. I think when I came here there was a wedding reception downstairs. They can store cake and cut it for you as well (with a lil charge). The food was so good and the dip was worth. I would come here again. They have a cute bar seating and good for groups as well. I would recommend family style and share your entrees.

It's nice to be hosted when we come to town. Aaliyah is part of the Midwest office and an authority on Lebanese cuisine. This means a phenomenal experience ahead for us! Leila is a gorgeous, stylish restaurant with a romantic ambiance that really prepares you for the authentic meal that awaits. At first I was concerned about the smaller portion size. Since we love to share, would there be enough? Aaliyah recognized this and put all fears to rest by ordering six openers. Soups and Salads. All of which were the perfect combination of texture, flavour and temperature. My vegetarian cousin will love this place. My new found favourite is Beetroot & Feta. Priceless. For those in the know, Leila puts a unique spin on some of the more common Lebanese dishes. All I can say is they were all delicious and I could easily see myself here a lot. The servers and staff were wonderful and provided top-notch service. Of course I didn't get a look at the final bill and it's extremely inappropriate to ask, but I don't think the costs are terribly out of line. It truly was a memorable experience. Next we visit the motor city, we have a definite go-to in Leila! 02/25

I just love it here. Food is so fresh, priced right, and the service is lovely. I started with the cucumber yogurt. The pita was freshly made, hot and the perfect pocket for the salad. Guys, it's so fresh and light. It's simple but really beautifully made. Highly recommend. I did get the cauliflower. It was super fresh and tasty. Perfectly seasoned. Really yummy and the broccolini. Both were great. Tab was 61 dollars with the wine I had. Parking. Nope. You have to vallet or street park.

Likes this kabob place that came highly recommended by so workers and YELP. Myself and two other chefs are away from home on assignment. Wanted something different to eat. I did enter through the rear of the establishment since I parked there. The menu is pretty extensive. Ended up getting the half order of hummus. A basket of warm pita and two sauces came out. I initially thought that was the pita. This was complimentary I believe. The garlic sauce is solid. The other one is a spicy sauce of some sort. This spicy one was super good. The hummus came out. Very smooth and flavorful. For my entree, I got the Shish Kafta. You can choose between lamb or chicken. I went with the chicken with a side of rice and my choice of soup or salad. I opted for the lentil soup. That came out piping hot. This was delicious. Flavorful and good texture. My entree came out and wow. The portion is way more than what you pay for. Came with 4 very huge blocks of chicken kefta. Nicely seasoned and grilled to perfection. Had a nice char on the outside, but still juicy on the inside. I used the two sauces from earlier to give it an extra kick. I washed it all down with a mint lemonade. This was absolutely refreshing. Clean place, very good food and the customer service was solid.

The first restaurant that popped up was Leila's Lebanese kitchen and it had a 5 star rating! I didn't bother to keep looking, and told my husband we're getting Mediterranean food! All of the reviews praise the food, as well as the service. My husband is super picky and hard to please when it comes to garlic spread on chicken shawarma sandwiches. I ordered 5 chicken shawarma pita sandwiches, a slim chicken shawarma, and tzatziki sauce with pita over the phone for a carry out and was told about 25 minutes, which is completely normal. We arrived much sooner than we anticipated, but upon arrival we were greeted with a smile, told our order was on the grill, and offered some cups for tea/water/pop which was very nice. The homemade tea was delicious! The food was ready shortly after and my husband couldn't wait to get home to try one of the shawarmas. He devoured the sandwich on the way home, praising the garlic spread! I had the slim shawarma and it's delicious! The pita is nicely toasted to give it a little texture, the chicken has great flavor and is not at all dry, the garlic spread is not a pungent garlic flavor or gritty texture, but a nice creamy spread with great flavor! The tzatziki has such great flavor, I couldn't stop eating it. We are so thrilled this place is close to home, as we've certainly found a new favorite restaurant!!
