We ended uo back at Ol Faithful after looking for somewhere else to go. Honestly the customer service is always top notch here as well as the food. Quick, efficient and courteous. We were given some complimentary chai tea as well that was delicious. Started off with appetizer combo and then Al Ameer platter for the 2 of us. A lot of food but we anticipated leftovers- which we did. Fattoush came anf was seasoned well, combo followed with delicious grape leaves and soft falafel. Still the creamiesy humus I've ever found. Baba ganoush is always hit or miss and today is was kind of in the middle. The platter has delish tawook, kafta, kabobs and beef and chicken shwarma. Wow is this place great! When you walk in you be met with aromas that will make you happy. The service was so friendly. We were quickly seated and handed a menu. I went with a lentil soup to start with. It was flavorful and seasoned. The portion size was good too. They also brought out some freshly made bread. It was still warm and delicious! In town on a work trip and did my homework before picking a spot, and this place absolutely delivered. Al Ameer isn't just another Middle Eastern restaurant, it's a cornerstone of Dearborn's food scene and a James Beard America's Classics Award winner, which already sets expectations high. I returned to Al-Ameer recently with my wife, for a far too delayed second visit. My first meal there was maybe about 10 years ago, and it was transcendent. Five stars, to be sure. I recall the hot fresh pita being a revelation, especially when dragged through the cool tart labneh. Why the drop to four stars? It may sound silly and petulant, but my biggest complaint and the thing that may keep me from returning, was the harsh chemical smell from the spray used to clean all the tables. The food itself smells amazing! The table adjacent to ours got a platter of grilled kabobs and the charred meat aroma was indeed able to cut through the industrial cleaner that hung in the air. But fundamentally the dining room is entirely unappetizing thanks to the restaurant's choice in cleaning products. Which is a shame, because the fresh fried falafel served still warm, crisp, and tender, were the best my wife has ever had. The hummus is great. The stuffed lamb was tender and aromatic. Prices are fair, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food. Portions are quite large, but this is intended to be family style, so order appropriately. Service was fine. Our waiter forgot to bring my wife's tea, but once we were able to flag them down, she got her drink. And the server took it off the bill without us mentioning the error. N.B. there is a 3% surcharge for using a credit card. I get why restaurants do this, but that does not make it any less annoying. read more

There was far too much bread in relation to the meat provided, and at nearly $30 I felt like it was overall very overpriced. This location is going through renovations so it was a bit difficult to find the entrance (at the back) for my pickup order. The cashier was not the friendliest. There are options for meat eaters as well as vegetarians and vegans. We've either eaten there or had them cater our holiday lunches for years. The hospitality is top-notch. Zaki always provides excellent service and so does the dedicated staff. The portions are generous. We always have enough to eat and leftovers for some people to take home. The menu is expansive with fresh delicious Lebanese/Middle Eastern fare. They have all of your favorites such as kebob, which the flame broiled chicken is absolutely delicious. My other highlights are the fresh crisp salads and the potatoes. The fresh juices are also yummy, as is the baklava. The value of the food is reasonable and well worth the amount charged. This restaurant is one that I frequent much less in recent years. My family has been coming here for 30+ years, my Dad would often talk to Khalil, the owner way back when. Last I heard, his son is running the restaurant, but I'm not sure. Anyway, the quality of food has gone down over the years. We took a few friends today for them to try Al-Ameer for their first time. We ordered a few things to give them a sampling of the menu. We ordered a whole boneless chicken with rice and fattoush, also the Al-Ameer Platter with rice and spinach cabbage salad. Plus, we ordered hummus and 2 skewers of shish kabob. Our favorite dishes here were always the boneless chicken and the fattoush, both were underwhelming today. The chicken was cut so thin and seemed dry, the sauce wasn't as flavorful as it used to be. The fattoush was pretty bland and I'm not sure it even had the pita chips in it. Another thing I noticed was how small the salads were, the salad size seemed like something for 1 person, not shareable really. We enjoyed the meat shawarma, kafta, and kabob. The chicken Shawarma and shish tawook were also dry. We were happy to see that they are still making fresh pita. The hummus was very good. I forgot to find out our servers name, she was very sweet and attentive. The restaurant ambiance used to have such character back in the day, there were personal pieces/ travel souvenirs decorating the walls. They have remodeled the place, which looks nice, clean and modern, but lacking in charm. I'd like to give this 3.5 stars, as the food doesn't live up to what it used to be. Weekday lunches out came to a screeching halt in 2020 when the work from home era began. As life continues to try to return to pre pandemic, we were glad to see Al Ameer survives! A group of us stopped in for lunch recently and Mary was our server. She provided wonderful service and the food was every bit as good as we had remembered. We ended up getting the meat platter, lentil soup, bread with garlic sauce, meat pastries, white rice and "brown rice" ( it's not American brown rice, just white rice cooked with meat and seasoning -it's good).
