Ordered three shawarma sandwiches, two beef, one chicken. Large plate of hashweh (rice/meat) for the kids and order of fries. Service was great as usual. Watched the game. It wasn't too busy for a Friday afternoon but everyone seemed to be happy with their food and clean environment read more

The food at Hamido is absolutely delicious; we tried both the regular and spicy chicken shawarma, and they were perfect. Juicy, flavorful, and served with fresh, pillowy bread and incredible toum (garlic sauce). Honestly, one of the best shawarma experiences we've had. The only downside was the bathroom, it was unfortunately dirty, looked like it was being used for storage, and had an empty drink bottle on the sink and a pretty gross situation with the toilet. Definitely took away from the overall experience. That said, the food is fantastic and totally worth a visit. Just maybe skip the restroom if you can. read more

In Motown for the dream cruise, it's time to get some authentic and this is where the gang decided to snack! This is the spot in metro Detroit where you want to score your Baba Ghanouj. Most anything Lebanese is better here. They also make an unbelievable Tabbouli salad. I think it's the mint. Their Hummous is favourable. Remember plenty of pita bread. My absolute go to it's the lamb shawarma. A clean carve of savory prime meat and fresh bread make the difference. The spices on the rotisserie chicken make it a must try. Always show in larger groups and use the community food method. It's nice to share. The staff is super friendly. The atmosphere is genuine Hamido busy and very welcoming! 08/24 read more

If you're looking for excellent Lebanese food in Dearborn, look no further. Seriously, stop reading this review and just go to Hamido already! The food is fantastic and there's no shortage of excellent food on the menu. My friends and I went to visit recently and had a great time. It can be difficult to find a table during peak hours, so just be flexible when you arrive or plan to order takeout in advance. I'd also recommend the combos - lots of variety at a very reasonable price (especially when you consider that you'll get a few other meals out of the combo!). All things considered... why are you still reading this review? Go to Hamido already! read more

Family-owned authentic Lebanese food, Hamido is the place to go in Dearborn, Michigan. They make their pita and everything off of their menu themselves. My Uber driver was the one who actually recommended this place to me and offered to take me here if I added it to my route. Ordered: - Grape Leaves (these are one of my faves and a must try at any new place I go to for comparison. I liked the flavor of these, but I wish they were bigger in size. I kind of wish I had ordered two of these cause they were my favorite out of everything I had). - Falafel (1/2 dozen - these are big falafels and they come with lettuce, pickled veggies, and tomatoes - there is a sauce I used that paired well). - Shawarma Combo (part chicken, part beef with your choice of rice, fries, or hommous - I chose hommous with mine. The meat portion was huge! I liked the chicken more). - Tabbouleh (glad I got this to have with the rest of my food). - a bag of Pita - garlic and tzatziki sauce The wait was not that long. I received my food in a timely manner and couldn't wait to dig in once I got to my Airbnb. It was a great idea to stop by here so I wouldn't have to go back out again that night. The place is brightly lit, clean, small, but had booths and tables if people wanted to eat there. It definitely kind of felt more like a grab n' go - so plan to order ahead or stop by to order if you don't mind waiting. The guy who took my order was the son - the guy's dad is the one who started the restaurant and it was really nice to see his son being so involved in the family business. As I was waiting, I could tell that this place was popular as more and more people walked in to either pick-up or place an order. The food lasted me a good 2-3 days (received at night the first interaction). read more

This spot pumps out Middle Eastern food like nobodies business! All the dishes here were fresh and made to order. The meat is constantly cooking, and the menu is simple. You can have a sandwich, a dish of meats, sharing options, etc... After experiencing the food here I loved it all, BUT, I liked their beef shawarma overall. I would stick the tastiest menu item and load up on it. You will thank me... enjoy! read more

We dined here recently as a party of three, and while the food itself was fine, we left feeling very frustrated and misled. When the check came, the restaurant had automatically added a 20% tip without mentioning it to us beforehand. For a table of three, this is highly unusual -- most places that add gratuity only do so for large groups, and even then, they clearly disclose it on the menu. What felt unethical and sneaky was that nothing was said by our server, nor was it clearly marked in advance. Guests deserve to know when a tip is being pre-added so they're not unknowingly double-tipping or pressured into paying more than expected. A tip is supposed to reflect service and be left at the guest's discretion, not buried in the fine print or added without transparency. Practices like this erode trust and make customers feel taken advantage of. Even if automatic gratuities are technically legal, doing so without upfront disclosure feels dishonest and underhanded. I would encourage management to be more transparent -- post it clearly on menus, have servers let people know, and don't surprise diners with hidden charges at the end. Until then, I can't recommend this place in good faith. read more

I've been coming to this place since I was a kid and it is still exactly the same....perfect. It's really special coming here now with my husband and being able to share this place with him. The staff are incredibly kind! Sure, it gets busy and hectic and if you're eating when there's a mad rush of pick up orders, it might be louder than usual. But, that's what makes this place special. It's good food, and a passionate kitchen! It's funny because each time we go here, it always seems busy but there's also always a place to sit. The ambiance is good, consistently clean, and sort of a no frills set up. The centerpiece is always the food when you come here, as it should be. When I was a kid, I used to always order a chicken shawarma, cup of lentil soup and a bottle of orange crush soda. Now, with my husband, we always do either a chicken shawarma or chicken sub (split in half to share), and either soup (their lentil soup is creamy and smooth), fries (they have the best!), hummus (they're extremely generous with portions), and fattoush (dressing is extremely fresh and tangy how I like it!) If I were to ever move away from south east Michigan, I'd miss my family most, but Hamido's second. Can't wait to hopefully take my future kids here to enjoy the food, too! It's really that lovely. read more

I'm dining in alone at Hamido. While waiting for my order, there was a man yelling from the dining area into the kitchen at another guy in the back of the kitchen. Clearly, that was disturbing. Not great for the ambiance. Then there was a television in the corner of the dining area with news of the war in Gaza and Israel. I don't think that's appropriate for digesting your meal. I can't complain about the food though. I had a small lentil soup, chicken shawarma and fattoush salad. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. I almost ate the spoon with soup on it. Delicious!! There were a lot of people getting takeout. I'll be back for some more soup. read more

This place was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! It's in a more rundown area. We ordered the Hamido's Special Plate ($49.99), large Lentil soup ($4.99?), and small/medium (unsure) Baba Ghanouj ($4.99) for 5 people. Veryyy inexpensive and worthwhile meal. Takeout took ~25 minutes. Wow the serving size was amazing, they gave us a bag of pita too (usually ~$3-5 each in California). We had leftovers enough for 2 people! Chicken shawarma was so tender and loved the fluffy rice, salad, onion, tomato, and hummus combination. I also really enjoyed the Falafel, which was light and tasted "meaty" but the best I've had in general. I'm not a huge fan of grape leaves and lentil soup, so don't have a huge opinion on those. Definitely stop by here for a filling, flavorful meal! read more

This place is delicious! First time trying Halal food and I'm very impressed. The interior of the restaurant is quaint and cozy with a small dining area for guests to eat inside. Parking can be a bit tricky as the lot is really small. While the dining room and parking lot maybe small, the food has plenty of flavor and spices that will keep your tastebuds happy throughout the entire meal! I order the Kabob Plate that had a mixture of chicken kabob, beef kefta, and steak kabob along with hummus and fattoush (both included) and rice (brown) and gluten-free! The flavors were delicious, the service was great, and the overall price was inline with similar restaurants. I would definitely recommend Hamido for authentic Middle Eastern Cuisine. If you're in the area looking for home cooked food - this is it. I'll be back! read more

Best Middle Eastern food that I have had in some time. Why is all of the best food so far from me? So Dearborn is the place to go for the most delicious food, probably any food. The flavors are complex and deep! They obviously babysit their food prior to throwing it on the grill. They are cooking with passion and it shows up in the layers of flavor. I got a Combo Tray for 2, which me and hubby will have food for days. There was a sauce that came with it, didn't catch the name but light maybe yogurt and parsley. It is delectable and I want to curse here...but I will keep it PG! Great quality meats because it was soft with the right amount of juicy. So good, going back soon! Oh yeah, the young lady gave me a compliment and I so needed it! Thanks so much whatever your name is! read more

Beyond disappointed and disgusted. We've been eating at this place since childhood and the past few years, this place has been terrible. I was hesitant to leave this review, but this was unacceptable. We ordered 2 whole boneless grilled chicken. Came with a side of humus and baba ganoush for $60. What we ended up with was fatty thick skinned chicken thighs and no breast meat. The chicken meat was pink and the skin was so thick we were too disgusted to even attempt to eat it. On top of that they dumped an entire can of wholesale mushrooms as "garnish" I'm assuming. The baba ganoush is NOT fresh eggplant its straight out of the can and tasted metallic like. This will be my last time ever eating here. People work too hard to just throw their money into the trash like this. read more

We got one of the 3-4ppl platters. I have no idea what meat is in there except chicken shawarma and beef. The chicken was pretty good though i liked the beef kebab(?) better. They went really well with the rice and pita bread. The pita bread was different from what i usually have - its a lot thinner! Which i liked. The falafels had great flavor. I think this was probably the best tasting falafels ive had. The texture is ok, I've had crispier and lighter falafels so this doesn't top that. The salad on the side was very refreshing, balances out the meat in the platter. At the bottom it did get pretty vinegar-y though. read more

Unassuming place in the Dearborn area. We came around dinner time and realized that the parking lot was full. We figured that must be a good sign. The entrance was busy, mostly with takeout orders, but we were sat rather quickly. All of the other tables were full, and we were surprised since the place is kind of dingy and run down. There were stacks of pita bread laying at the table next to our and otherwise people with very good looking meals. There is a good selection of items on the menu. We were hungry so we picked something that could be shared. We ended up sharing the platter because of the variety we could get with it. It's amazing! First you will get the hummus and pita bread. Then the salad with a refreshing and zingy dressing. Both of these "appetizer" plates are fantastic. Incredibly fresh and flavorful. The main meal comes on a shareable platter with the most tender and flavorful beef and chicken kabobs and shawarma. The sauces they they come with are a perfect complement to the meats. Everything is fantastic on its own and all together in one bite ( if you're feeling adventurous try some salad and meat in a pita wrap, like a Lebanese taco). The platter is big enough for 3-4 people because we had plenty of leftovers and we happily ate those over a few days. They heated up beautifully. This restaurant has fine service. Not amazing but nothing to really complain about. The incredible food makes up for any issues and the outdated interior. Already thinking of my return trip! One of the best restaurants I have been to in some time. A must visit! read more

Since 1995 #1 in Dearborn doesn't pay for fake reviews and photos, thought of regular customers. I've been a customer since opening always a fabulous meal at great prices . Look in the kitchen dozens of rotteserie Chickens rolling and two mega spits of Meat, Chicken and Beef Shawarma . Place full house everyday all day for a very good reason, we only non Arabic folks in the place. All seats filled and dozens lined up for take out while we ate. Ordered the Whole Chicken totally blown away, the juices flowing from inside when cutting open OMG . Ordered a small Fatoush Salad, Hummus and Lentils Soup. Came with Pickles, Toum Garlic Sauce and Bread. A mega deal folks all this 34 bucks with leftover's for the trip home. The Chicken is 50 percent larger than most other places. Hands down the MOST CONSISTENT place for food. I often order Meat or Chicken shawarma sandwiches from here, they easily have one of the best sandwiches, but their consistency makes them the best. I don't think that there's a better meat shawarma sandwich in Dearborn. I groan (seriously) with every bite. Good thing I generally eat alone. I get carry out and can't even make it home before that sandwich is totally gone. The tabbouleh was pretty good, but a bit on the salty side. The garlic is a little weak in comparison to some of my other favorite places, but overall still delicious. The parking lot is a little ick: small, stinky, and hard to get in and out of. Otherwise, I love this place. I definitely wanted to come in again after I saw the article about the fact that ICE hit this place. Want to give business to ANY place that suffers this ridiculousness! The food is always delicious. I love going here because the portions are hugh and food is great and the service is wonderful.

Two of my family members have gluten allergies. I ordered 2 large and 1 small fattoush salad all with bread chips and dressing on the side. Each one had the chips on the salad which prevented those family members from eating them. Ordered an open face Beef Shawarma due to gluten allergies (all the Shawarma ingredients except the bread). They put the bread on top of the Shawarma ingredients when packaging making it useless. Half of my family couldn't eat the food due too this. When picking the food up my wife asked them if they made sure the pita chips where not on the salads and open face beef shawarma, they said they where not. We live over 10 miles away so returning and complaining was not an option at the time. With tip the order was close to a $100. Also ordered 2 chicken shawarma and 1 beef shawarma along with hummus and large order of seasoned fries. They tasted good but only half of the family could eat these. read more

One of the better places to get authentic, Middle Eastern food. Depending on your hunger level, you'll find your appropriate medium. While I've had overall good experiences with the menu, my go-to item on the menu is the chicken shawarma. Its everything that a shawarma should be - simple, flavorful, & delicious. No one ingredient or component overwhelms the other and it stays true to its roots. Service is excellent and the staff are very professional. Great customer service and the food is cooked to order. On a separate note - water was only available via bottled water for purchase, which I found a bit perplexing. read more
