My super nice waiter is Ahmad. He sat me down and brought me garlic butter and some tomato for the pita bread, which came out a bit later. I started off with a carrot and OJ, raw. A turkey fatoosh, no pita. That's so cool they offer turkey with some of their dishes. Also ordered a chicken gallaba with hummus, no rice, extra veggies and a lentil soup to go, one lentil for here too. The bread is hot and smells so good. It's not a pocket, but it still tastes quite good. The garlic butter and the tomato sauce are nice with the bread. The lentil soup is piping hot, lemon juice makes it better. It's quite thick and no rice as filler here. It's best with 3 lemon wedges for me. The carrot orange juice looks red, must have some beet juice that I didn't ask for during my order. It still tastes decent. Maybe inform the patrons that beet juice is added to the carrot and OJ? My fatoosh salad came out, it was deli or sandwich turkey, not the more fresh oven roasted I was hoping for or had imagined in my head at all. The turkey as expected was salty, too salty for the salad. I guess that's why and how they offer turkey with the sandwiches and salads then. In future for full disclosure I think it would be better to let the customer know it's not oven roasted but rather deli slices of turkey. Ahmad wasn't sure where the deli turkey meat was from. I don't eat deli meats, so off to the side it went. Additionally, the red onions need to be cut more consistently. I have half moon chunks to big slices to medium slices. I like my red onions either small diced or thinly sliced, it was neither. The dressing wasn't bad. Some of the tomatoes tasted a bit off. The hummus came in a separate container, that's good, the chicken gallaba still came with rice and no extra veggies. Some grilled veggies would have been better for sure. I was in town for training and excited to try some authentic Mediterranean food. Shish Palace did not disappoint! I ordered yakeout and got the crushed lentil soup with the large fattoush salad with chicken swarma. It came with complimentary pita bread (not pita flats like most places). The bread and garlic sauce (toum) were a great start as the pita was warm and "pillowy". The salad came with a very generous amount of chicken and the lentil soup has just the right amount of spices including black pepper which was pronounced but not overpowering. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area and next time I'm in town, I'll probably try one of the entrees. I rarely give out 5 stars, but if I ate in the restaurant instead of getting takeout, it may have made it a 5! read more

Not my first time here. Thought I'd leave a review because the last Middle Eastern food place I went to was not a pleasant experience (see last post). I orders my usual deboned dark meat chicken with rice and lentil soup. Soup was hot, meat was hot and cooked thoroughly. I think the rice could have been more hot as it was room temperature. I think the person doing the platings maybe scooping the rice before cooking the chicken causing it to sit and loose temperature. Overall I am giving this location 5 stars due to the server who remembered me from previous visiting and the flavor and portions of the entree. This is one of only 2 places I will order middle eastern food from due to service and quality issues. Good job Mike and staff. read more

Spent a night at a hotel ordered door dash. The restaurant was less than a mile away. I ordered all the sauces on the side(food tends to get mushy when I get it) Great delivery driver. No utensils(luckily hotel had some) there was no sauce on the side. Ordered tuboulli on side for mine, and marinade on side for boyfriend. My hummus deluxe falafel wrap was dry which Probably wouldn't be the case if I had the tubouli. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. Called about the mixup and was told the cooks had left for the night? (You need cooks for a sides of sauces?) Boyfriend got the Shish Tawook with rice and the crushed lentil soup. He said the chicken was a 6/7, Rice was a 2 and the lentil soup was a 5. The garlic sauce was decent. read more

I stopped in for lunch, accompanied by a colleague visiting from France, on our way to a business meeting nearby. My colleague was hoping for an American steakhouse. I convinced him that any visit in the general vicinity of Dearborn would be incomplete without trying at least one Middle Eastern restaurant. In honesty, I would have chosen Al Ameer or Hamido but Shish Palace was more convenient given our location. Anyway, the food was great and the service was superb. I had a lamb shawarma salad. The shawarma was perfection: crisp on the surface and still moist on the inside. My colleague chose grilled salmon and rice. I was about to suggest something a bit more adventurous but... his salmon looked excellent and he certainly cleaned the plate. There wasn't a morsel of food left. I stopped in for a vegetarian lunch and couldn't help but notice a line of take out orders waiting for the customers. Usually that's a good sign the food is good. I had a potassium raw juice that was mostly carrot. I saw the parsely but did not taste celery or spinach. I also had a cup of crushed lental soup and a house salad. The thick consistency of the soup was fabulous however it wasn't flavorful like other Middle Eastern restaurants. The salad was good and the bread was spectacular served with both fresh salsa and garlic. The service was good and the food is inexpensive. Was pleasantly surprised to have it come within 30 minutes. Portions were exceptionally large, as in enough for 2 - 3 meals. Ordered babaganouj app portion and I cannot describe how impressive everything about this was! Extremely large portion - there is no way i could ever eat this much, as much as i may try. Incredible flavor, fresh, fire charred eggplant flavor. Just perfection. The entree - shish kafta was also a very generous portion and flavor on point. This was a wonderful end to a very long, hard day and I would strongly suggest that if you live in the area - well worth the trip. Little hole-in-the-wall Lebanese restaurants are everywhere in this area, so I didn't have huge expectations of Shish Palace. I can safely say my expectations were blown away! Their kibbe nayee and tomato kibbe are both tasty, depending on whether you are feeling carnivorous. The deboned chicken is juicy and delicious -- order it on french fries instead of rice for an extra treat. They make their own bread, you probably want to order extra. read more

There's a new favorite in town folks! I am seriously in love with this new discovery. This little place is near my sister's church and they introduced us to it. Mind you, I live in Canton and that's about a 25 minute drive here and we have done that drive multiple times, that's how good it is! It's so simple but executed so well! I love that they make the bread and it's hot and fresh and delicious. The hummus is silky smooth and creamy. Our favorite is the deboned chicken with the almond rice and the grilled veggies. Oh, and make sure to get some garlic sauce...it's soooo garlicky, it has a bite to it. And trust me, that's a good thing. I've had the shawarma, the kafta and the salmon and they are all good but my favorite will always be that delicious perfectly charred chicken. This is a solid restaurant in Allen Park for Arabic food. Everything that we tried as really good. Our service was good and we didn't notice any condescending attitude toward women, just timely, polite service. Salad and soups were nice, as was the entree of Shwarma. Go ahead try that Vault dinner cost about $250 family of four or eat here only 50 bucks to feed 4 hungry folks. Always starts with Hummus, Toum that be Garlic Sauce and Yemeni Spicy Red Sauce along with Hot Puffy Bread straight outta the oven. We had great Lentils Soup with Fatoush Salad a favorite of mine Tomato Kibbie outstanding Delicious. Also platter of Chicken Tawook tender juicy Char Grilled Chicken Wow with Sauteed Veggies. We shared another favorite David Basha be mini Lamb Kafta Balls in diced tomatoes absolutely Wonderful. Easy to find next to Allen Park Police station n Ace hardware on Southfield road. I'm starting to like this place more and more. Lately the ingredients seem fresher and the seasonings seem more balanced than other places in the area. I almost always get carry out and almost always order the fattoush salad. I have never had wilted lettuce or old cucumbers and the dressing is always the right balance of savory and tart. Also, whatever they put on their chicken should be bottled and sold by the case. They've got the good, fresh, brick oven baked, pita that they give with carry out too, which is a huge bonus! I still wish they'd figure out Malek's lamb kebob marinade because that (and fixing their dismal salad portion for dining in) would hit all the points on my Middle Eastern Restaurant preference list and make me happy to give them 5 stars. read more

Decided to take the family here and upon walking in, the ambiance and decor was lovely, felt like you were in a middle eastern bazaar. The big fish tank was a source of entertainment for my seven-year-old son. Our server was tentative from beginning to end. I ordered the schwarma combo of chicken and lamb with lentil soup to start. Of course the fresh naan and toomb (garlic dip) was delicious! The food was flavorful, the chicken schwarma was really tender and delicious. My beau ordered the chicken schwarma with hummus and rice and he was short of licking the plate. Our server was really warm and friendly, and brought us out rice pudding at the end of the meal. We ordered some delivery and were very pleased with our meal. The hummus was delicious, as was the bread that came with it. It was a large portion so I was snacking on it the next day too. We also got spinach pies which were tasty. I got grape leaves which were super flavorful and the meat inside was nice and tender. Both meals came with a large side of rice and choice of soup or salad. We both opted for salads which were fresh and crisp with a nice dressing. Wow! I tend to be a bit of a picky eater, so stepped way outside of my comfort zone trying middle eastern food. I went for lunch a few weeks ago, with a friend that knew the owner. I got a chance to try about half of the menu through samplers and the like. The food was amazing, I even tried the raw (meat) kibby. It's "cooked" with spices rather than flames, and while it wasn't my favorite dish, it was really good. The chicken dishes were all fabulous, the hummus was great. I didn't try anything that I didn't this was at least ok. Most of the food was simply fantastic. The lighting is a bit dark, even at lunch time, but that's about my only complaint. Pricing seemed fair, but with no knowledge of other middle eastern restaurants, I don't have a baseline for that. It was fair compared to other places I eat in general though. Service was courteous, and a tad slow, but I understand that's because everything is prepared fresh. For fresh food, I'll wait the extra couple of minutes. It wasn't unreasonable. read more

I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant after finding a PNC ATM on Southfield Rd in Allen Park, lol! The restaurant was right behind the bank, so I figured I would try this place as I was in the mood for a Fattoush Salad. The inside/interior of the restaurant was nice! And there was a short wait time for my to-go order. The staff were cool. And although I did think the prices were a little higher than what I have paid at other Mediterranean restaurants (lunch specials), the portions were plenty, and the food was overall good! Overall, this is a good place to get middle eastern food outside of Dearborn. My main complaint is that the food I received (in terms of portion and even missing items. See my pics) looks nothing like the picture in the menu! I should have said something to the waiter so it's partially on me, but it's so awkward to do so. I felt ripped off based on the price ($28). Pickles and pickled radish: they did not give us any Vegetables: 1/5. The picture shows a big plate of carrots, celery, radish, and green pepper. We received like 3 pieces of carrot and 3 celery. -_- They also give you bread and garlic sauce and tomato sauce for your bread. These all tasted excellent! We ordered the flan dessert, but they didn't have any, so they gave us baklava for free, which was nice of them. The baklava also tasted great. It wasn't too sweet. The waiter was friendly and the ambience was fine. Also, used to be a bank since a couple of tables are in an old vault! Haha. I think it's really cool though. I'm not a Mediterranean expert, but the food is really good. Baba Ghanooj app is a nice alternative to hummus and has a nice Smokey flavor. Lunch specials decently priced with enough food to satisfy a big appetite. The lamb combo was ok, but probably would have gone with a lamb wrap. I don't know if Shish Palace is really a 5-star choice, or a 4-star one, but when I was traveling to the area for work every week, it became the one place my colleagues and I kept coming back to again and again, so I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt. We tried a variety of dishes while we were there, but among my favorites was the zesty ghallaba. Add in the salad it comes with and the fantastic bread with salsa + garlic sauce, and it was guaranteed to have leftovers. The ghallaba itself was pretty flavorful, and the bread and salsa/garlic sauce was strangely addictive. They'll bring more bread, too, so we sometimes had to be careful to make sure we didn't fill up with bread and salad before the main course arrived. After awhile I branched out and tried more dishes, such as the arayes, which were also worth trying. The smoothies were refreshing as well. You know they're made fresh by the volume of fruits and veggies visible in the kitchen and the whirring of the blender. You can customize them if you want; I'd always make sure to specify no beets for mine. The atmosphere inside is rather dark, with the lights and latticework casting odd shadows in some places. There's a nice fish tank about halfway back, but it isn't a place that you go to for the atmosphere. Service was good; we often had the same waitress, who came to know us as three regulars from Iowa and Ohio arriving about every other Wednesday night. Occasionally I'd have a hankering for the food and swing by myself on another night when she wasn't working, and the service was good then too. read more

Really good garlic sauce. Really good hummus and the bread is phenomenal! Grape leaves or good but not great. Got the sauteed lamb and mushrooms with rice, tried to minus the mushrooms and it seemed like they put even more on. Next time I'll call to order instead of using this app for delivery, so I can double the lamb and make sure there are no mushrooms. That is the only reason it's getting 4 stars and not 5.
