This place is so damn good, we've had it every week for the last month or so. The shawarma burger and the build your own bowl both slap. Their french fry seasoning is appreciated as plain fries are boring. Their portion sizes are great, too. Fast service, amazing food - what more can I ask for? 5 stars, no complaints. read more

The service is superb from a warm welcoming as soon as you enter. The staff listens intensely on what you would like. They offer suggestions if it's your first time. I normally grab the chicken shawarma bowl and the strawberry banana smoothie. Instantly full And content. I think I'm addicted because I go too often now lol read more

Ordered through Uber Eats. It's not very clear but when you order a bowl, it comes with ONLY what you select. That would make sense, I guess, but there is no "base". You order chicken, with your up to 4 items (like cabbage, spinach, onions, feta) and that's it. No rice or pita or anything. It seems weird that it costs extra than a wrap, when it has less food. That being said, the flavors were amazing. The beets were canned, the chickpeas were canned, but the chicken shawarma was good and the garlic sauce was yummy. I just wish it were more clear when ordering online. I got a promo, buy one get one (sort of) free. You still have to pay the extra $4. The portions are small and without the base, I would have been extremely disappointed paying full price. All in all, order in person so you can see what you're getting. read more

Stopped in very late after a night out because we weren't feeling coneys or Taco Bell...the place is nothing spectacular to look at but they made the best shawarma wrap I've ever had! Served fast and piping hot, I will definitely be back! read more

Small spot with huge flavors. Their chicken kabob lunch was perfect. The rice is absolutely delicious here & their tahini is spot on. I really enjoyed the food and the kind service made it even better. The place is small, only 2 tables inside with a small patio outside. Definitely worth a try!! read more

Place was good under previous owners. Now quality of food is not so good. Went there few times and probably will stop going there - dirty kitchen and bathroom, employee are not friendly and act like they're doing you a favor read more

Quick hot food! Everything was so good and In the budget for some tastebud dances! Definitely will go back if I'm around and everything else is closed. It was extra good also because everything was closed. There definitely needs to be more seating that's one thing I wasn't liking. The woman up front was very nice and answered all questions swiftly. THANK YOU FOR THE FOOD! read more

Got into Detroit late evening and was pretty hungry. None of the airport food was appealing so we decided to grab some late night eats. Didn't want anything too heavy but wanted something good, fresh and more on the healthier side. Joe's fit the bill as they were open til 1am on a Sunday and was about 10-15 outside of downtown ! It's pretty much a takeout spot but they have a few tables for dining in and some seating outside. We were famished so we ordered a veggie combo w/ salad - comes with domas, hummus, baba ganoush and tabbouleh, rice and falafel and a chicken cream chop bowl - spiced brown rice, beets, onions, hummus, tabbouleh, garlic sauce, pickled radish and baba ganoush, a side of lentil soup and some flat bread. Lastly I ordered a watermelon juice to wash it down. The guy at the counter swore by the chicken cream chop which I had never had before. It could be described as a lightly fried chicken. To sum it up all I could say was WOW ! Everything was super fresh and so good. Maybe it's because we were starving I don't know but will go back and see if the dream was real . Service was great and the vibes were super cool ! read more

I work 2 jobs and barely ever have time to cook. My guys here at Joe's take care of me every time. Later hours are so convenient for someone who works night shift. Love the shawarma bowl read more

Order a farmhouse burger and receive a burger and white bread instead of a bun. Update: they responded and said there was a mix up and they don't offer a Farmhouse burger on white bread . They do offer a farmhouse burger but it's not supposed to be on bread. That was my problem, I wanted it on a bun. I work 2 blocks from this place and have been there several times. More often than not my order is wrong. read more

We always order from here when we need a good late night snack. The shawarmas are great and always fresh. They are fast and convenient with service. They also don't mind you hanging around and eating no matter how late it is! PS - try the fresh juices, they are lovely! read more

Food has not been ready at the time promised, nor has even been close. A 15 minute promise time has been closer to 50 minutes. Also, the order is not accurate to the request half of the time. Staff is unwilling to accommodate, sighting repercussions from ownership. Shame on the ownership. The was food was mostly decent quality (not all of it by a long shot), but was considerably late, which lowered the overall experience. read more

I love this place. The food is so good, I could eat here every week. Perfect for a quick meal, I always get the bowl. Very generous portions. Friendly service as well. Will continue to enjoy eating here! read more

Joe's Grill - Chicken Shawarma Bowl and meat grape leaves - Mediterranean Near Me - Royal Oak, Michigan

Fast service and quality food! This place is located in downtown royal oak, proximate to occ and a tap house near by also. There are parallel parking spots in front (3-4 spots) but there is a little parking lot right next to it that I was able to park in and hop in and out of. I did almost trip going into the restaurant as there's a step I didn't see so be careful. Aside from that I really enjoy their "create your own bowl" special. I did order online and just a heads up there is a special discount for local orders I think for a first visit if you create an account! I got the chicken shawarma bowl and it was really delicious with the seasoned rice (0.50 up charge) and spicy hummus. The bowl is hearty, filling and has tasty and quality ingredients. It is a great portion size for the money! The only ingredient I did not like is the beets in my bowl as they were not sliced they were really big and I'm not sure if they were from a can? Either way it was a very tasty bowl that I'd come back for! read more

Going to keep this one simple & to the point. Go to this spot order the Mediterranean burger. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! I came back two nights in a row to order it to-go. Essentially it's a lamb patty cooked to your desired temperature, tandoori paster, feta cheese, tabbouleh, mint vinaigrette. I ordered it medium-rare and it came out perfect BOTH times! It was flavorful as well having the perfect savory combos of toppings that really complimented each other. I'm going to be thinking about this burger probably for a long time. Especially because I haven't had a lamb burger quite like it. As well as the fact that I'm visiting from NJ. I'll be back for sure ! **Unfortunately I did not get a chance to take a photo either time I ordered it because it was QUICKLY devoured ** read more

Parking isn't great since there's only 4 spots out front and they are all shared parking as well for the Credit union, Thai and the hookah lounge, but isn't Joe still part of the Hookah? I decided to give this place a try, since my aim is to try out all eateries in the downtown area. Isn't that everyone's goal in life, here on yelp? ;) Parked across the street by Oakland community college. It's close enough. I ordered two chicken bowls. I ordered the chicken breast or grilled chicken with rice and the other one as a salad. There's a guy in the back and he was grilling up my chicken breast. There was another guy cutting up all the chicken breast. The woman working the front assembled my salad and rice dish. They have a salad bar that you can pick any toppings for your bowl. I did two of the build your own bowls. They were running low on the spinach and the Romaine lettuce looked a little brown. She grabbed more spinach and fresh Romaine from the back. Their cabbage was looking a little worn as well as some of the other vegetables. The veggies (both cabbages, cucumber, carrots) probably need to be checked more often for freshness. Many looked rather weathered. I don't feel very warm welcome from the front counter woman and cashier. She wasn't rude, but not super friendly or warm. Did politely ask if I could take pictures before starting to click away. She said it was OK. I put the spicy hummus on the rice bowl as well as the salad. I added the Fattoush dressing to my salad, but it would've been nice to have some creamy type sauce or dressing for the rice, besides ranch dressing. Maybe a chipotle mayo or Sriracha mayo, something. To give 10% discounts for Oakland community college students. I think it would be great if they gave the same discount for Royal Oak residence, to keep us coming. ;) I get that they fill the bowl completely, but it makes it very difficult to eat, on the go. You can only eat one thing at a time, as there's no room to mix the ball at all. I think it would be better to put in a bigger container and fill it about 2/3 of the way with the same content. It's reasonably priced here for their build your own bowls. build your own bowls were good overall. I like the chicken breast best. The seasoning is flavorful and it's moist. The spicy hummus has some good kick to it too. read more

One of my new favorite Mediterranean places!! I've ordered pick up, and delivery from them and will definitely be back for more. Their inside is tiny but can definitely accommodate for dine in orders. My husband and I have both only gotten the make your own bowls. They have been amazing every time! Always enough for a second meal which is really saying something. I get the chicken shawarma and my husband gets the beef. Both are delicious. We have also ordered their side of fries and their pita chips. I don't really care for their pita chips, but their fries are good. One of these days I will be brave enough to try something other than making my own bowl and I'm sure it will be delicious! I wish I could give them zero stars on all levels. Customer service being the worst. I ordered thru DoorDash and my order came incomplete. When I called the restaurant they told me they were out of all the ingredients and I paid for the rice. No accountability and not one apology offered. The chicken was dry. The garlic sauce was watery. No pita bread and we ordered two dinners and a bowl. I will never order from here again. read more

Do not order the lamb chops from here if you want any value for your money, the chops cost about 16 bucks and comes with no rice as pictured and were small and half of them did not have a full bone.
