I expected a fine-dining experience at MotorCity Casino, and while the decor delivered--chic, upscale, and visually impressive--the overall experience fell short. The dining room is large and stylish, with private booths reserved for VIPs. That aspect was frustrating, as several tables sat empty yet were unavailable to regular guests, which felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. The food itself was decent. I ordered a burger, and my friend had a very large New York strip steak. Both were fine, but nothing memorable. The fries, however, were a disappointment--tasted like basic frozen fries (Ore-Ida or similar), bland and not what you'd expect from a restaurant positioned as upscale. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the service. Our waitress was rude, curt, and sharp-tongued. Her responses were short and unpleasant to the point that we nearly left. We considered asking for a different server but felt uncomfortable doing so, worried it might negatively affect our food. We endured the interaction, but it completely overshadowed the meal. Management needs to know about this waitress. I'm sure they know who has a bad attitude and who was working on last Saturday's evening shift! She also brought me a Caesar salad with no dressing on it, none! Because of the service--and the overall mismatch between the price, atmosphere, and experience--I would not return. A beautiful space can't compensate for poor hospitality.

Cowboy ribeye

Honestly, this place was great. Firstly, free parking was nice, as opposed to every other steak place in the city w valet. The food here was amazing, I got the cowboy ribeye, it was cooked perfectly, my wife and son got the filet and it was delicious. We all got zip sauce w our steaks. Our appetizers were candied bacon and the braised beef w whipped feta, both were outstanding. And our bill was a few hundred less than sexy steak, prime & proper, parc, etc. my one critique is I wish they had a better liquor selection.

Recently had a pleasure to eat at this restaurant. The place is very elegant, and the staff makes you feel you're on that level too. Very professional at every level. I've had a couple of things to try, and even as vegan I've not left this place hungry. The cauliflower bites were super crispy and delicious, the vegan curry although strange at first glance with beans, it was surprisingly good, and if you remove cheese from the michigan salad, it becomes vegan too. My other companions had chicken, steak and lamb chops and they all enjoyed their food. Amazing place and I highly recommend to try it for an upscale dinner experience.

What I received when ordering "Medium well" :(
Kristin M.

Service is spot-on with some very wise and helpful servers. Sides were incredibleeee and with a table, a great way to try different things on the menu. (Seriously the best mashed potatoes I've ever had... ever.) My only knock was that my steak, which I ordered medium well, came out fully done, and was nearly too chewy to eat. The same thing happened to my friend who ordered medium and she received a well done steak also. Once they sort out the steak temperature issue, it will be impossible to get in to this spot.

Thank you for such a beautiful time & amazing experience! Everything tasted amazing & looked wonderful! From the entrance to the exit, i was all smiles. The staff was polite, very helpful & moved with urgency. The food... oh God. It was so much & so good. Luckily they let us take carryout boxes & not waste any leftovers. It was my 1st time at Revel & they did not disappoint at all! I liked every tasting item. My moscato wine was delicious also. I think my favorite thing from the night was those racked lamb chops. They were beautiful and had an exquisite taste. I'm obsessed with the yukon gold mashed potatoes here. BURRATA AND TOMATOES & the CAULIFLOWER BITES app are my favorites! The lemon cello cheesecake, oh my! I will definitely be back.

Pretty decent steakhouse with reasonable prices for quality food. The lamb chops were a little undercooked but really high quality. Unfortunately there was a little too much sauce in the dish I prefer drizzled on top with a little bit not swimming. The tomahawk was cooked the perfection and was tasty. For sides we had mac & cheese which was average but good. The scalloped potatoes were really tasty and I recommend those as well as the brussels sprouts. Our waiter was very friendly and took care of us even though it took a while for food to come out, but we can't blame him for that. The restaurant was clean and comfortable.

It had to have been excellent if we came here two days in a row. The first night we didn't have reservations so we ate at the bar which turned out to be pretty fantastic. I think our waitress was Alison and she was very friendly and helpful. I got the filet mignon and the crab cake. Both were flavorful and delicious. My husband got the New York strip and we split the brussels sprouts and the mashed potatoes. I also ended the meal with a crème brûlée. We couldn't stop talking about how much we were enjoying the meal. It was so good that we came here and had the same thing the next day, but ate in the main dining area with a reservation and came with my sister and my brother-in-law. I will say as a heads up that they do have a tendency to overcook so I would say request it a little less done than you normally would.

Tomahawk Steak 36oz, roasted asparagus & four cheese potatoes
Lou B.

Outstanding experience from start to finish. The server was incredibly attentive without being overbearing. Our server checked in at all the right moments and made us feel genuinely taken care of throughout the meal. The tomahawk steak was cooked absolutely perfect, "just right." Juicy, flavorful, and expertly prepared, it was everything a steak lover hopes for and more. Every bite delivered. The sides were just as impressive. The roasted asparagus was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the four-cheese potatoes were rich, creamy, and downright addictive. Every dish was a hit. Revel Steak delivered on both service and execution, making this a memorable dining experience. I'll definitely be back.

We came here after a concert at the Soundboard on a Sunday evening. The hostesses said the dining room itself was closed but they we could sit at the bar with a limited menu available. We managed to snag the last two seats at the bar and were pleasantly surprised to find the full menu was available! Our waitress was the bomb, very attentive and took or orders quickly. I ordered the Cadillac margarita, colossal crab cake and Caesar salad. My honey ordered the New York strip with scalloped potatoes. The crab cake was indeed colossal! Huge and packed with crab, my Caesar salad was very good as well I just wish the croutons came broken up, it was hard doing so myself. My honey did not like his food, he said his steak had no seasoning, despite also ordering compound butter to accompany it and the scalloped potatoes were just ok. He told the waitress he didn't enjoy his steak and she offered us a complimentary dessert. He was full so I opted for the passionfruit mousse, it was divine. So silky, creamy and the passionfruit flavor came through so well! I enjoyed everything and my honey said he is willing to come back and try some other menu items to see if the steak was a one off.

Had a beautiful experience at the recent 20th anniversary Yelp event. Revel Steak has a sophisticated decoration, great ambiance, and beautiful food. Service was top notch, with experienced servers. I might not come to the casino (or maybe I will now!), but feels like a great date restaurant for a special night or a lively dinner for an elevated family event. Free parking at the Motor City garage for the win!

A-mazing! This is my second time at Revel steakhouse and we had the same waiter as last time! He remembered us from a year ago and made the meal extra enjoyable. We ordered like crazy IMO but it was all so good. My husband had the French onion soup. I got the lobster bisque. Mine was better. I could have done without the crostini but it looked nice for the presentation. It was very hard though. The bread has an everything but the bagel type of seasoning. My husband got the ribeye and it came on the bone. He said it was great. I got the surf and turf and we split the lobster. We also had the mashed potatoes and the brussel sprouts. And for dessert? The chocolate chip cookie sundae thing! Such a great meal!

This was an excellent experience. The. Craft cocktails are incredible. We drank about 6 different ones off the menu and they were all great. Our food came out very fast! We ordered mostly appetizers but we were able to get bread right after ordering, and our food just a few minutes after the bread. The tuna tartar was one of the best I've ever had. The oysters were so incredibly fresh! This place is always buzzing and busy. When 5 o'clock hits, the bar starts getting full and many people have reservations. We enjoyed our experience so much that we came back the second night. 10/10 if you're in the area, this is a great spot for a romantic dinner.

We had another incredible dinner at Selden Standard, which will always be our number one restaurant…read morein Detroit. We even got married here this summer!! So it holds a special place for us. Lauren took great care of us and encouraged us to order whatever we were craving. Dangerous advice, but we happily accepted . Warning - the ratings are real. They're not a mistake. We started with our usual cocktail, the Instant Karma (5/5). It is the perfect balance of citrus and salt with a light cucumber note. Clean, refreshing, and it pairs well with everything. The roasted sweet potato (6/5) is one of the best vegetable dishes in the city. The caramelized exterior gives way to a soft interior, and the crispy quinoa adds a subtle light crunch that plays against the creamy texture. The salsa macha brings a smoky, nutty depth without the heat, and the crema ties it all together. I had to physically stop myself from scraping the plate (actually they had to take it away ). The tagliatelle (5/5) with beef bolognese and parmesan was flawless. The pasta has that ideal handmade chew, and the bolognese is rich without being heavy. The parmesan blends perfectly into the sauce and stands out in every bite. The potato pierogi (10/5) were the star of the night. Soft potato-filled pillows with horseradish crema, apple, and crispy shallot pieces create this perfect sweet, tangy, creamy, and crunchy bite. Each forkful felt intentional and balanced. I felt guilty, because in my head, I didn't want to share with my wife, but I did anyways . The cruelty of having to split an odd number of pierogis...well played...we should have just ordered another one. We also ordered the smoked potatoes and the pan roasted half chicken with sauce au poivre (always 5/5 for both) The smoked potatoes, with raclette, and crème fraîche, are always a must. These winter variation was just as good! The chicken remains one of the most consistently well-executed mains in the city. I have tried recreating it at home with the cold pan method and it never comes close. Every time we dine here, it feels like four or five different dinner experiences in one evening. Selden Standard continues to set the bar for us in Detroit. We love the staff, the food, and the memories tied to this place. Cheers to many more amazing years to come!

My husband surprised me with a birthday dinner here, and I'm glad that we got to experience it. We arrived in advance of our reservation and grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender brought us a glass of wine while we waited. It took about a half hour, but we were shown to our table for the night and promptly greeted by our server. All of the food looked amazing, both on the menu and with what people were ordering at other tables. We chose a variety of dishes - cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, squid ink orecchiette, octopus, mushrooms, and scallops. I would recommend all of them, but the standouts for me were the Brussels sprouts and the scallops. Flavors were unique and textures were especially on point with those dishes. Service was good, but we both felt like it was slow. There was a slight glitch in the beginning of the night where the host stand didn't mark that we had checked in when we actually had, which probably contributed to the half hour wait at the bar. Aside from those points, it was an impeccable night!

Atmosphere is nice, decor is very cool, and the setting is intimate, but when it fills up, it is quite loud. Regarding accommodations, for our teen daughter, the chef went WELL beyond normal accommodations to modify the Steelhead Trout dish to allow her to enjoy what she called "the best fish I've ever had". He absolutely made her night. We all shared the Brussel Sprouts (w/ honey, lime, & chicken skin) and Octopus appetizers. The Brussels were heavenly and the octopus was flavorful and tender (very nicely prepared). Aside from the Steelhead entrée, my wife and son both had the Ribeye Cap w/ yaji, peanut, & kiwi. They couldn't stop raving about it. The pairing of kiwi with steak was delicious and creative! I ordered the Lobster dish and honestly, it was better than many top tier seafood restaurants I've visited. It featured tail & claw meat atop a crab cake with a citrus beurre blanc and crispy wontons. I'd go back just for this dish. For dessert, we tried the PB&J Napoleon, and found the berry sorbet to be ridiculously fresh and bursting with flavor. Portion sizes were just right. Everyone left well satiated, but not overly full. We had a reservation, and I'd highly recommend if you're thinking of going, you get one as well. It was a full house the entire time we were there, and it was only midweek.

We ended up being placed on the "veranda" which was an enclosed space with about 4-5 tables. They had heaters, but fortunately, it was warm enough that they were not needed. SERVICE - my friend made it well known that we were there for my birthday, but I'd like to think even without the birthday drop, we would have gotten great service. Our server was friendly, attentive and made a number of recommendations to help guide our dining experience. MENU - Grey ghost has a rotating menu, with a few items that our consistently featured (I'll talk about my burger later). An interesting array of starters including brussel sprouts and coconut shrimp as well as a great variety of main entrees. I feel like there was something for all tastes at this place. They also had a good variety of cocktails and mocktails. FOOD - We started off with shrimp tempura which had a tropical salad of some sort served with it. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the tropical salad really complimented it very well. We also decided to try their home made Rock and Rye (their take on Faygo's marquee drink of the same name). The Rock and Rye was decent, but if you want rock and rye, nothing beats the original. For our main dishes, a number of things caught our eye. including the lamb and ribeye, but we ended up going with their burger and a side of fries and their wild boar pappardelle. I've heard Grey Ghost has one of the best burgers in Detroit, and it did not disappoint. And you know we had put an egg on it and it was rocking. I don't know what the burger sauce they put on it was, but it seemed like a much, MUCH better executed big mac. The fries were great as well. The pappardelle was good, nothing mind blowing, but a solid entree in it's own right. I was curious how the burger here compares to the one at their sister restaurant (Little Ghost) and the host said the quality of meat used in the patty is better at Grey Ghost than little ghost. Guess I'm going to have to go there as well. OVERALL - definitely worth a visit. I'd say a good spot for a first date, or some other sort of special occasion. I won't wait as long to make a trip back to this place, that's for sure. CELEBRITY RATING - Collin Jost

Between the two of us we had the beet salad, burger and steak tartare. Burger was good, but not the best smash burger that I've had. Beet salad was fine, however the cream cheese was a bit overpowering against the orange oil. It was dying for some citrus. Steak tartare was a bit dry, meaning that a small dab of olive oil would have added to the richness and overall mouth feel. I did not really taste the egg although I did see a dab of yolk on the tartare. Needed a bit of salt also to enhance the taste Menu was small, but it did cover a cross section of French bistro dishes. All in all, I thought it was a bit overpriced.
