The plant I bought came with snails. Maybe they consider those 'extra' and that's why the tiny bit of product you're given is crazy overpriced. The employees weren't blowing sunshine, but they weren't rude either. I'll check out other stores in the area or look online before going back. read more

They have a variety of different kinds of fish, their goldfish are mostly high quality. They have many different types of products to take care of ponds and tanks. They have a lot of merchandise but it is pretty expensive, you can ask the professional questions. The only cons are their prices and when I call them, I ask questions and a certain employee has an attitude, but other than that, fish den is awesome! read more

The Fish Den is now my shop for fish, snails and supplies, I'm so glad I found them! The customer service is great, the store is well stocked with just about anything an aquarist of either type (salt or fresh water) could need, and all the various fish and snail tanks are super clean. They've been in business since 1970 and it's my very sincere hope they'll be able to continue supplying people in the fish-keeping hobby, whether already knowledgeable or brand new, for many many more years. I think that anyone who posts a negative review might be speaking for the competition or doesn't know how to correctly acclimate a fish or cycle a tank. I've been in other pet/fish shops and here they were just as involved with my not so expensive selections as they would be for someone spending a lot more. Every fish/snail (7 fish, 6 snails) I bought here died. The 6 neon tetras were so weak they ALL got sucked into my 20 gal hang-on-back filter and died. They tried to sell me a dead snail but I caught this and they got me another (live) one. No matter, all snails were dead after a few weeks. The single clown pleco did survive through quarantine but, alas, he is nowhere to be found and I assume he's a goner as well. Also they're way overpriced. A single tank decoration cost $40+. Granted my cory's love it, but I'm going elsewhere. PS- I replaced the dead neons with neons from Aquatic Imports (Boulder) and NONE of them were sucked into the filter, all made it through quarantine, and are doing fine today. read more

Fish Den has always taken awesome care of me. I've purchased a betta, numerous freshwater shrimp (cherry reds, blue velvets, and yellow), snails, and an African dwarf frog from them + aquarium plants, decor, fish food, and tank supplies. Everyone comes home happy and healthy. One employee, Travis, has helped us a couple times. He's extremely knowledgeable, patient, and helpful; ready to help troubleshoot why my live plants are struggling and to pick out compatable tank mates. The fish aquariums are fun to look at- what an amazing variety they have! Prices seem a little high for the decor and tank supplies, I bought a gravel cleaner for half the price online, but generally I like to support a local shop and I appreciate their high quality. read more

I hadn't bought fish in months for my tank. Bought a couple of neons and some zebras From fish den. Within days one neon had died, then one of my older neons, followed by 4 penguins, and two swordtails. It wasn't ich but whatever the heck it is, I don't want it again. read more

Going to Fish Den is an underwater adventure every time. I recently became an aquarium owner, and I have been learning as I go. After shopping around at lots of stores in the Denver area, I finally found my way here. Looking like a typical strip-mall type shop from the outside, inside you will find yourself in a wondrous maze of beautiful tanks filled with a plethora of creatures, large and small. The staff are attentive and very knowledgeable, and have helped answer so many questions for me, including how to remedy a scary case of ich in my tank that came from fish I got from the internet. Their advice saved all my little finned friends, and they are now happy, healthy, and loving life. Fish Den is a fun place to go even if you're just looking at the animals. I wonder if the staff is getting the message from the previous reviews? Or perhaps attitude breeds more attitude? I found them to be helpful and courteous. I was in and out quickly with the live food I needed. The blackworms (yeah, I know...) lived over a week in our fridge and made our African dwarf frogs *very* happy. The shop is kind of grungy, but I can't imagine there is a lot of profit in the fish business to allow for modern decor. But hey, they have fish and stuff, so that works for me. read more

Fish Den has been around forever, staff is knowledgeable and friendly. However, store appearance is old and dirty. Dry good Prices are higher then most stores & products are out of date. Livestock appears healthy. Selection is mostly freshwater. Limited saltwater selection. read more

While service is generally okay the place is old and cluttered. Have returned a few times. After picking up a fish they recommended and finiding it to be incompatible we came to return it. Hours posted are 11-7. We show up at 5:04 and the owner looks at us and rushes inside. When we confront him he flips me off and runs to his car. Good stuff dude read more

Great resource for fish keepers. I had fish when I was young, and recently decided to have a tank again. Unfortunately things went very wrong! I visited Fish den and they were wonderful. Explained what I had probably done wrong and what to do to fix it. After I followed their advice and the right amount of time had elapsed, I went back with a water sample and they tested it for free. The fish room is awesome. I have never seen such clean tanks! They have a good variety. Their hours are very accommodating: they are even open on Sunday. I have visited the big box pet stores, as well as another local small store, and I cannot see myself buying fish or supplies anywhere but Fish den. read more

I'd like to give a lower rating but can't. Don't buy a tank here, return policy doesn't exist. They sold us a tank which almost killed our fish and wouldn't take it back. They shouldn't have sold it to us to begin with. Good thing we learned this before buying more here but it still stings when return policy isn't customer friendly. read more

Went over to Aquamart and those people are knowledgeable and don't just sell you stuff. they ask questions and recommend the proper fish/ equipment and support. the staff at fish den are uneducated and don't know what they are doing. read more

Congratulations, Fish Den! You just lost a customer who spent a lot of money there! This place sucks. The staff is uneducated and their fish are often diseased. Furthermore, their return policy, even for credit for healthy fish is horrible. They will give you 1/3 what you paid for the fish in credit, even if it's only been a few days and the fish are completely healthy. Ever heard of an isolation tank??? Dirty, disorganized, and a trashy staff who don't seem to care or know much about fish and their needs. Take a little pride folks, your lack of caring is evident. read more

Tied for my favorite fish store in the area. It's not the prettiest of venues, but they usually have a great selection of saltwater fish. It can sometimes be hard to find someone to help, but if you go up to the front desk and ask, they're very friendly. It may not be the place to go if you're looking for a wide selection of corals, but otherwise it's a great place to shop. read more

The customer service is outstanding, I have not had one fish or snail die out of the probably 20 or so I have bought from there (and I have been going there for about a year), the tanks are immaculate, and the variety is diverse and plentiful. My family loves coming here to get fish. We go and check out all the tanks before getting what we came to buy. A majority of the fish we buy live for a good amount of time... much better than the big box pet stores which die pretty quickly after being taken home.
