This store has a great selection of live plants and freshwater fish. There are tons of fish tanks from almost floor to ceiling as soon as you walk in. I have recently started putting together a new, small planted tank so I decided to stop by and see what they have. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide number of freshwater fish and especially their aquatic plant selection. All of the plants were reasonably priced and looked healthy. The same was true of the fish. They were all kept in proper tank sizes for their species and looked healthy and active. Some had even recently bred and had fry in the tank with them. So cool! I ended up walking out with some Flourish substrate and a few live plants. I expect I'll be back for any additional plants or fish I may want to add down the road. I stopped in to check out their betta selection and found my new buddy boy: Jean-Claude. They have the most beautiful bettas around Denver (I looked from Aurora to Westminster looking for the right one, trust me, I know). The colors are were all stunning, their little box's are over light to really show off their shimmery scales. I'm not a fan of bettas' undersized living conditions until they are bought but all of the fish were in clean little box tanks. Although in various states of lethargy they were upright and healthy looking which is more than I can say for other fish stores. I wandered in here on a Thursday afternoon to check out their selection. When I walked in, it was like a breath of fresh air. The tanks were immaculate, the selection was beautiful, and the fish looked very healthy. The tanks are a great size, and they have bettas in community tanks instead of little cups. I walked around for nearly a half hour, taking in every possible choice I could make. Overwhelmed, I consulted an employee. We chatted for a while, about tetras versus a betta versus dwarf rainbow fish (never seen those before!) Finally, I found a beyond gorgeous betta that I could not turn down. The prices are very fair and they have a lot of sales often. They also have saltwater, cichilds, plants, and freshwater. The only thing I would hope to see improve would be more plants to choose from and more hardware available. Either way, I'll never set foot in another chain pet store again. The store does have a good variety or rare and unique marine and fresh water fish/invert. I bought 3 small arowanas but immediately knew one of them was very sluggish. I have my concerns and told the salesperson. But he continue to say we would replace it in 7 days if your water was good. They were proper acclimated into a 180 established community planted tank. So over the weekend, the one that was sluggish stopped eating and started to just lay down at the bottom of the tank. I knew he was on his last leg and then returned him back to the store. Needless to say I got worst customer service from Al. He was a total jerk and thought he knew everything. Continued to blame me for the demise of the fish. I've have kept fish for over 30 years and managed a large fish store in Atlanta. I believe I'm qualified to say that the fish he sold me was not well. I do agree they have a good inventory selection but be careful because some of the sales people there are rude and the return policy comes with prejudice and arrogance. read more

No, not a seafood restaurant. This is a great aquarium shop - knowledgeable, friendly, and they live their work. The shop is pretty typical as it's lined with aquariums front to back, bottom to top. What makes it different is the quality of the tanks, the variety of fish, and the really unique Betta display they have at the back of the shop. I came in one morning to take a look at their fish. The person who was working, I think his name was Dan, was very helpful and answered questions I had. There are several tanks in here, with a ton carrying fish I'd never seen before. The tanks looked clean and well cared-for and I didn't see any dead fish. That's always a positive sign. Dan also let me know of discounts I could get if I ordered parts from him, with the only downside was having to wait until they came in. Bought an arowana drop it in my tank and noticed he was sluggish in the morning. I tried to return the fish and they said they wouldn't take him even though manager told me he would him if I brought him back next day. I don't remember name of employee but he sent me away after an hour drive. I went to store on 4/26/16 at 10:09 am. He said manger wasn't in for another 2 hr and refuse to let drop fish off in one of his tanks and said manager has no cellphone to call him. So piss off. read more

Found out about this place a couple years back and found their prices to be the best in town. I bought 3 Amano shrimp for 9 dollars. I've never had any issues with their fish. Very good quality fresh and salt water fish, I highly recommend. The owner is not always there and sometimes has his friends watch the pace for him, but they are knowledgable as well. They have really good quality frozen food for fish and it is decently priced. I have tended to get my first from there recently since some of the big box stores don't have the quality of fish that will last. wow, what a great selection of africans and mbunas in particular. I wish i'd known about this place before I stocked my all mbuna tank. Still, staff was great and knew a ton about cichlids, I was in cichlid heaven in this place. Definitely coming back here when I need some more mbunas. Tanks are all super clean, like really, pristine, though the fact they're all mostly bare-bottom tanks probably doesn't hurt. It's definitely quite the sight. Not as many supplies here, but they have food and some of the other typical stuff. Including bulk food, sold by the scoop, which was kind of cool.
