This is by far the best place to supply all your aquarium needs. Large selection, knowledgeable staff and always willing to guide you in the right direction. I would not go anywhere else. read more

I can see this store being helpful if you are an expert in the hobby but if you're a beginner do not come here expecting any tips or advice getting started. I came in asking about reef water and she responded they have roi water I could buy but offered little guidance on how to treat the water or get started. I can't ask what I don't know so I was expecting to be offered information from the experts. read more

THE AQUARIUM UTOPIA: About Fish Is the Legend Made Real! Hold the siphon--I'm logging off the forums just long enough to write this. About Fish isn't merely a local fish store; it is the absolute holy grail of the aquatic hobby. Walking in is less like entering a retail space and more like stepping into a private, meticulously curated gallery. Whether you're nursing a single Betta or masterminding a massive, professional-grade system, your search for excellence ends right here. This store doesn't just meet the gold standard; it invented it. The Staff: Certified Aquatic Gurus, Not Just Employees The people at About Fish are nothing short of aquatic philosophers. Their passion isn't just deep--it's Mariana Trench deep. On my most recent, panicked visit, I cornered a staff member (shout-out to Asher, the Water Chemistry Guru) to discuss my devastating bout with Hexamita (Hole-in-the-Head disease) in my Discus tank. Instead of a vague anecdote, I received a detailed, clinical-grade protocol--complete with a timeline, specific chemical ratios, and best practices for surgical isolation. Their collective expertise spans the entire aquatic spectrum, from the finest nuances of Amazon biotope setups to the dark arts of tuning highly complex \text{CO}_2 injection systems. This level of professional, hands-on dedication is simply priceless. The Livestock: Surgical-Suite Clean and Mythically Healthy! If I could award a sixth star for livestock health alone, I absolutely would. The display tanks at About Fish are hospital-grade clean--you could practically perform surgery on the substrate. There are no signs of ich, no clamped fins, and absolutely zero evidence of the stress and disease commonly found elsewhere. Their stringent quarantine process results in livestock that transitions into home tanks with a near-flawless success rate. Aquatic Jewels & Plant Nirvana: They stock specimens I thought only existed in online wishlists: Mythical Red Arowanas, intensely colored F1 Wild-Caught Discus that look like living canvases, and L-Series Plecos that truly defy belief. The planted section is a hydroponic metropolis, lush, diverse, and miraculously, completely free of pest snails or algae blooms. Their selection includes everything from rare carpeting plants and massive Anubias specimens to difficult-to-culture Eriocaulon species. The Inventory: A Secret Weapon Cache for the Dedicated Hobbyist About Fish doesn't stock junk. Their dry goods area is a perfectly curated arsenal of the industry's elite equipment. They consistently carry the niche, high-performance gear you usually have to wait weeks for online: the latest pumps, titanium heaters, professional-grade testing consumables, and hard-to-find supplements. They are experts at matching the right tool to your tank's exact needs, and their pricing is unbeatably fair, providing incredible value for such premium quality. Final Verdict: Your Aquatic Manifest Destiny! About Fish transcends the concept of a store. It's an immersion center, a learning lab, and a genuine anchor for the fish-keeping community. If your aquatic journey demands the healthiest livestock, expert, surgical advice, and equipment built to last a decade, look no further. This isn't just a five-star store that Marc Sherman has created; it's the hobbyist's manifest destiny! I've been a dedicated shopper to the big box pet stores. And they have served me well I have nothing negative to say about the big box stores. I've had a freshwater aquarium for about four years now. And it was time to upgrade to a bigger size With new plants and new fish and a new aquarium. I found about fish, which is actually pretty close to my house. I went there to look and they were so helpful. A little locally owned place with a couple of young employees who had a lot of good energy. I spent about an hour talking with them and looking through their inventory. Great looking plants and fish. My new store! read more

I went in on a Sunday and the place was moderately busy. The first two guys completely ignored me, didn't even say hi. Finally a 3rd guy asked me what I wanted. I explained what I was looking for and without a word he turned around and grabbed the most expensive thing on the shelf that had NONE of what I was looking for and all of the things I said I didn't want. Then he walked away without saying anything. Awesome customer service. read more

Super helpful and knowledgeable. Got 2 betas 1 for our house and 1 for school. Their prices and selection were fantastic. Will absolutely shop here for fish in the future. read more

This store has a great selection of live plants and freshwater fish. There are tons of fish tanks from almost floor to ceiling as soon as you walk in. I have recently started putting together a new, small planted tank so I decided to stop by and see what they have. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide number of freshwater fish and especially their aquatic plant selection. All of the plants were reasonably priced and looked healthy. The same was true of the fish. They were all kept in proper tank sizes for their species and looked healthy and active. Some had even recently bred and had fry in the tank with them. So cool! I ended up walking out with some Flourish substrate and a few live plants. I expect I'll be back for any additional plants or fish I may want to add down the road. All in all, a nice little shop with friendly staff. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the hobby and need something new. read more

Great quality and fair prices. Unique selection of fish and really good customer service. Ed

Great selection of fish, super friendly and knowledgeable staff - I really appreciate their advice and feel appreciated as a customer.

I stopped in to check out their betta selection and found my new buddy boy: Jean-Claude. They have the most beautiful bettas around Denver (I looked from Aurora to Westminster looking for the right one, trust me, I know). The colors are were all stunning, their little box's are over light to really show off their shimmery scales. I'm not a fan of bettas' undersized living conditions until they are bought but all of the fish were in clean little box tanks. Although in various states of lethargy they were upright and healthy looking which is more than I can say for other fish stores. If you're looking for a fishy friend I recommend About Fish for some polite and direct fish guidance. read more

I have been looking for a local fish store- although it is 45 minutes from me- this place is it! I can't wait to get back to get my fish. I bought some much-needed supplies for my tank and some extra plants because who doesn't need extra plants? Everyone working in the store was nice and approachable. The gentleman feeding the fish at the end of the day (not to call him out by distinguishable features) was impressive in his knowledge and very entertaining with his education. My son got a kick out of the sharks squawking at him. read more

Really helpful walked in the store to browse and soak up some time before kids get outta school which was close by were greeted and asked if we can be helped not by one employee but multiples didnt just look at us like some others.. seen some tanks i will be back to purchase soon read more

I wandered in here on a Thursday afternoon to check out their selection. When I walked in, it was like a breath of fresh air. The tanks were immaculate, the selection was beautiful, and the fish looked very healthy. The tanks are a great size, and they have bettas in community tanks instead of little cups. I walked around for nearly a half hour, taking in every possible choice I could make. Overwhelmed, I consulted an employee. We chatted for a while, about tetras versus a betta versus dwarf rainbow fish (never seen those before!) Finally, I found a beyond gorgeous betta that I could not turn down. The prices are very fair and they have a lot of sales often. They also have saltwater, cichilds, plants, and freshwater. The only thing I would hope to see improve would be more plants to choose from and more hardware available. Either way, I'll never set foot in another chain pet store again. I understand older people have their own way of doing business but man, customer service is really bad. I was just trying to help and see if he wanted to bring people in because the previous customer walking out told us we could just go in. So I kindly poked in and asked if he wanted the next person in and he straight up looked at me and mumbled something and looked away. Well thanks to his attitude I found a fish shop 5 minutes away called elite reef. At least they appreciate your business. And don't act like you NEED them. Good luck to others. read more

If it wasn't for Matt, this fish store would get 2 stars. He took extra time he didn't need to take to help me. Same goes for the girl that was working, I just didn't catch her name. However, If you're greeted by the a-hole, then I am sorry, your experience with this store will probably suck. They do have a nice display of fish though, so ask for any other employee to help you. This review should actually act as a recommendation for a job. I'd hire you cause you treat people with respect. read more

My wife and I have gotten back into the hobby this spring and have purchased many fish and supplies from About Fish. Of the dozens of freshwater fish we have purchased only one passed away in the first few days. Not only did they replace it but gave us advice on helping that fish acclimate better to my tanks. The About Fish team has also been very mindful of safety precautions throughout this time period which can be hard in a small space like a fish store. I recommend them to any hobbyists in the area. About Fish - L200A High Fin Green Phantom - Aquarium Services Near Me - Westminster, Colorado

The store does have a good variety or rare and unique marine and fresh water fish/invert. I bought 3 small arowanas but immediately knew one of them was very sluggish. I have my concerns and told the salesperson. But he continue to say we would replace it in 7 days if your water was good. They were proper acclimated into a 180 established community planted tank. So over the weekend, the one that was sluggish stopped eating and started to just lay down at the bottom of the tank. I knew he was on his last leg and then returned him back to the store. Needless to say I got worst customer service from Al. He was a total jerk and thought he knew everything. Continued to blame me for the demise of the fish. I've have kept fish for over 30 years and managed a large fish store in Atlanta. I believe I'm qualified to say that the fish he sold me was not well. I do agree they have a good inventory selection but be careful because some of the sales people there are rude and the return policy comes with prejudice and arrogance. read more

This place is terrible. Today marked the fourth time I've walked out of this store for being ignored by staff. I will never be returning. Shame on me for not learning my lesson sooner. Take your business to another store instead. read more

No, not a seafood restaurant. This is a great aquarium shop - knowledgeable, friendly, and they live their work. The shop is pretty typical as it's lined with aquariums front to back, bottom to top. What makes it different is the quality of the tanks, the variety of fish, and the really unique Betta display they have at the back of the shop. I can't wait to go back to select fish for my new tank next week! read more

This place is awesome! I only have a koi pond, but they know everything I've needed! Every time I go in they are doing things with the tanks to make the fish comfy. I came in one morning to take a look at their fish. The person who was working, I think his name was Dan, was very helpful and answered questions I had. There are several tanks in here, with a ton carrying fish I'd never seen before. The tanks looked clean and well cared-for and I didn't see any dead fish. That's always a positive sign. Dan also let me know of discounts I could get if I ordered parts from him, with the only downside was having to wait until they came in. I definitely plan on coming back once my tank has cycled. read more

Very good quality fresh and salt water fish, I highly recommend. The owner is not always there and sometimes has his friends watch the pace for him, but they are knowledgable as well. They have really good quality frozen food for fish and it is decently priced. You may be paying a few extra bucks here but you know it is well spent. read more
