First watch is a great breakfast/brunch place. The food is delicious, but I havent been impressed with the take out service. Their time estimates are wildly off- once we were told it would be ready in 20 minutes and ended up waiting for another 20 minutes once we got there (45 min total!). I love that they have allergy and food info posted online for those of us who have to avoid certain things. I really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. The sausage gravy was creamy and delicious. The biscuit was good, but not amazing, but when covered with gravy it was just fine. Hubs has been enjoying the chimichanga, and I like that you can order through the buff commercial delivery places or direct through the website. I try for through the website, as I think it generates more profit for the restaurant. The juices are delicious too. Treat yourself to breakfast and order from them! read more

Stopped by here for the 2nd time in the past week because we were very pleased with how everything tasted. This time I am treating my youngest son before he has to go to school in an hour and a half! To drink I get the Spring Clean which is a nice healthy juice blend of those fruits and veggies that aid in cleaning you out including cucumber, celery, and granny smith apples to add a tad of fresh sweetness. This time I ordered the belgian waffle, bit again ordered the VERY delicious Million Dollar Bacon! So freaking delish! My oldest ordered the trifecta (again!) with sunny side up eggs, belgian waffle, and side of Million Dollar Bacon as well. My youngest ordered french toast with a side of bacon. Even though the weather is nice out my boys decided on their hot chocolate which their picky selves loved (2nd time order for my oldest). Unfortunately, they are only open for breakfast and lunch so I don't think I'll be able to bring my hubby to try out this tasty food until the weekend, but he isn't really a breakfast person. But, that may be the true test as to how great the food here is! read more

Absolutely great fresh food as well as terrific service. It's been a long time since I've experienced such excellence in a dining establishment. Brunch for us was simply a most pleasant experience. More importantly, the fresh pot of coffee is made by someone who knows what Java should taste like. read more

Pretty long wait but that's to be expected on a Saturday morning, prime time ~11am. Free coffee while you wait. Hint: use the call ahead app to get your name on the list. Lesson learned this go around. Our table ordered sweet tea, a hot tea, and a cold brew. The cold brew wasn't great, too sweet for my liking. I got the healthy turkey. It was a decent portion, definitely health conscious choice (low cal but still tasty). You could always sub fruit or greens for the toast. Our table also got the trifecta (worlds biggest, fluffiest pancake!!!), and the morning market veggie omelet. Everyone leaving a happy camper ... Service was average at best, but with a busy time frame, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt! Would recommend and will return. read more

Ok, it's Mother's Day and this place should be busy. We waited two hours for our table, I don't ever wait two hours for any place but as I said it's Mother's Day. Finally get seated and order, another delay. Our waitress was wonderful and thought she was going to cry. Finally got our food and sent replacement meals because they ran out of their specials. My simple omelette came cold with cold cheese. They have seen that last of this table of seven We gave it another shot. The manager invited us back to see if our previous visit was just a fluke. The wait was 40 minutes this time and waited another 40 minutes after we ordered for our food to get here. This time there was no problem with the quality of the food. Yet for an omelette..... I really don't want to wait for it. Also, you have to enjoy a lot of noise. read more

This was my first visit here and I was pleasantly surprised with the extremely friendly service and for a group of nine, that called as we were headed there to see if they could seat us together. The staff was incredible and explained the menu and quickly got us coffee and juices as we looked through the menu. The food came quickly and we was very high quality. I have to admit I didn't get the reference with the name and decor but after I googled first watch it made a lot more sense. I would highly recommend this place. I wish a took pictures of the food but it was gone to quickly. read more

First Watch is hit or miss in my book. We've eaten here 4 times since they opened. The first time we went we enjoyed mostly everything about our breakfast. The one thing that I'd absolutely pass on - the 'seasoned' potatoes. They were the worst potatoes we had ever eaten. Cold, hard, undercooked, and not really seasoned on half and overly seasoned on the other half. The breakfast sandwiches on brioche are delicious! I substituted chicken sausage for the bacon and it was soooo good. The chicken chimichangas is...weird? It sounded SO good but rubbery/overcooked eggs can be pretty off putting I honestly think this place COULD be great, but the execution of the dishes needs some tweaking and attention to detail. read more

The best new spot in Midlothian for breakfast. If you go on Sunday, use the wait-list. Wait staff is always very personable. Have not eaten a bad thing in the menu!! read more

This cute breakfast spot is filled with character. It's like walking inside of an industrial farmhouse. Exposed pipes on the ceiling and distinctive light fixtures at each table brings out the theme of this lovely restaurant. To top it all, the exposed kitchen makes it feel like it's one of a kind. The service was friendly and quick. I waited at the counter to be greeted by a server to put in my To-go order of a multigrain banana nut cake and an elevated egg sandwich. Anything over easy on a sandwich with bacon on buttery toast is my weakness. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I couldn't wait to indulge in the delicious site before me. The food was phenomenal. The menu offers a variety of sandwiches, tacos, and breakfast bowls. I will be sure to return to this place for more. read more

I keep giving this restaurant a try because I absolutely LOVE their banana granola crunch pancakes. It is the best thing I've ever tasted. But I just can't seem to get a perfect visit, ever. I've been here now about a half dozen times and there is always something wrong. My last visit a few days ago was terrible. There was hair in my food. Not the kind of hair you see before you eat the food but the kind that you feel in your mouth after eating a few bites of pancake and you pull it out your mouth Talk about thoroughly disgusted. Now mind you, on my plate was my pancake, sausage, and eggs plus I had a side of potatoes. When my waitress came to see what was wrong, I explained to her the issue, I showed her the hair, and we also determined it wasn't my hair. She says let me get my manager. Waitress comes back and takes the plate, but still no manager. Then waitress comes back and ask me, do you just want just the pancake re-made or the entire plate? Like really, why is that even a question? Of course, I want my entire meal made fresh. She brought back my second plate fully redone but my potatoes were now cold cuz they had been just sitting here the entire time but at this point I didn't even care. I ate a little bit but not really excited about the meal anymore, so I requested a to go plate. Manager never came, no kind of discount was given. I'm gonna eventually try the other first watch location but I have to give this place a break for awhile. My meal should've been free or discounted. Manager should've came to see me. I'm just not feeling it anymore. read more

Food was decent. I wish they had more menu options. The coffee was not good. If coffee isn't good at a breakfast place then why go? The hostess and server were attentive. read more

I really enjoyed my experience here. My friend is a regular and recommended this place while I was visiting her in Midlothian. We went on a weekday, so there was plenty of seating available. There are lots of food options which range from your normal mix of pancakes, French toast, etc to eggs Benedict, omelets and frittatas as well as lunch/dinner options as well. Since we arrived around 9:00 am, we ordered breakfast. The iced coffee is amazing! Strong and flavorful without being overly bitter and the right amount of sweetness without being too sugary. My smoked salmon frittata was filling and cooked well. Overall, I was really satisfied with the service and food. The prices are reasonable, and there is parking available in the plaza parking lot. read more

Not sure which is louder, the room or the cook screaming at the waitresses without her mask. Specifically asked for them to burn the potatoes and received undercooked. Ordered eggs Benedict classic and eggs were overcooked. Coffee was cold/warm, definitely not hot. read more

We have visited this place several times and had good experiences; However, this time we had a server that never brought the cream for our coffee, and when I got my omelet it had an eyelash in it. I stopped the server who brought us our food but she gave me a dirty look and walked away. The server told us they'd comp my meal but I had to ask for the manager when going up to pay. Terrible experience... read more

I hope isn't the normal but, the fact that everyone was wearing gloves and I didn't see anyone change them.... the fact that the waitress who was wearing gloves was holding my guess plate in a way that she was touching the food. The fact that there was five people in the restaurant 20 feet away and the required masks. They fact that with so few guess our food was still cool when serviced. I know these are difficult time but, simple thinks should be so hard to accomplish. read more

So this might be the worst experience I've received at a restaurant in years!!! My daughter and I decided we would visit and eat somewhere different. Here are my Bulletpoints... The Host did not greet me when I came in and I'm 6' 3" I went to the cashier and she instructed me to see the host. The Host was unapologetic When greeted by my waitress her face told the story... We were not offered water...and she never served us water. ever. Everyone was dirty..No filthy!!! Our food was cold and tasteless! and I had to go find my own utensils. My waitress was preoccupied with working other tables...like the people eating a few tables in front of us...might be regulars...because they received a lot of attention...I'm not going to share what we were thinking My dirty waitress (yes she had on a dirty apron) never asked how we enjoyed the food she slide me the check and walked away... When checking out...I was asked if my food was good...I said No. the cashier asked for my method of payment. This place is horrible! I roll my eyes every time I past this place! read more

This was the first time I came to this place and had three family members with me. First of all, the wait for a table was much longer than what we were told (over an hour). Then when we got seated, it took a while for the server to come and take our orders. When our food arrived, our drinks had not arrived yet (I always thought one would get the drink before getting the food). While my food was delicious (the only reason I'm not giving this place one star), my brother did not like his. His bacon was not crispy and his eggs were runny. This, and the lots of screaming children in the place made for a less than desirable dining experience. It's pretty doubtful I will ever be coming here again. read more

Rebecca, thanks for the quick response to my review. I hope you do make some needed changes to your menu but most of all you would help the elderly and infirm by making your community seats more comfortable. As for the grits - I didn't see that on the menu as an option. Thank you for the promises to try to make things better, but life is too short to spend experimenting on new restaurants. I'll go where I know I can find what I want and not have to wait or be uncomfortable. I appreciate that new places need a bit of time to work out the problems but as I say time waits for no one or is that Tom Waits for no one? Anyway, thanks for noticing and I hope you do make the place better. read more

I really was looking forward to a new breakfast place in the area. I sadly can not recommend this place because of the atrocious hospitality. We went to have breakfast on Saturday around 9am. First walking in it had some people in the tiny waiting area as well as those attempting to pay and leave. For almost 5 minutes not one person welcomed or greeted us. We eventually made our way to the cashier desk where the host... I am sorry I can't refer to her as a host. Where the cashier was calling out a tables reservation while also attempting to pay the bill of the guests that came. For about 3 minutes I stood there without her acknowledging me or even saying hi. I had to rudely interrupt her and ask if she was going to help anyone actually standing in front of her. This is when she rudely said hi and told us that the wait would be 45 mins to over an hour. At this point I am livid. I looked at the restaurant which had 8 to 10 tables open with no one sitting at them. We left and will never be coming back. No one waits 45 mins for breakfast in a half full restaurant with terrible hospitality. read more

Went here for breakfast and it was amazing our waitress was Alyssa she is awesome ask for her! I had the Traditional Breakfast (9.99) it came with eggs a meat choice hash-brown potatoes and your choice of bread. It was really really good. The food is fresh, thoughtful and delicious. The hospitality is first-rate as well. You have to eat here.

Rude Servers! Left Hungry. Wanted to try this place since it had just opened less than a week ago. The menu sounded delish! Until we experienced Our server who seemed to rush us and was very short tempered. My two egg scrambled eggs were more like a one egg scrambler. I asked for maple syrup for my waffle, which a server literally slammed down on our table and left. My friend's bacon was tasteless, and the cheese on her sandwich was missing. My chicken sausage patty was burnt on half a side and extremely thin. The coffee was strong and bitter. The acoustics in this restaurant are bad. We could hear everyone's conversation but our own. The gal at the cash register needs more experience. Not a good experience. We will not return. This experience was not worth the wait or the price. read more

I went to brunch at First Watch for the first time this week and I really enjoyed it! I sat inside with a group and they have plenty of spaced out tables (they block every other). I liked that they have several healthier options. I ordered the healthy turkey. It's an egg white omelet with tomato's, spinach, feta, and turkey and I had toast and fruit as my side. I also ordered the lavender tea. Everything was really good! I loved the tea and the toast. If you like whole wheat seedy bread make sure to get toast!! I think it is homemade. My friends ordered a breakfast sandwich, an omelet, and biscuits and gravy and they all really liked their meals. Id recommend coming here for brunch! read more

My husband and I were able to get in during a friends and family event. We consider it one of our luckier mornings! The decor is pleasant, reminds me of a farm house with dark wood and open floor plan with a lot of natural light. The wait staff was still in training but was excellent! They were courteous, knowledgeable, attentive, all without smothering the experience. The food...you will come back for the food! I had the traditional breakfast and have to say they have the BEST potatoes in Richmond. Cooked buttery onions and herbs, the potatoes were crisp but yet soft which made my mouth very happy! I highly recommend a visit!!!! We will be coming back to try out some more of their menu. read more

Very disappointing to say the least. The cooks prior to today really took pride in the food that was brought out from the kitchen. But, NOT today! I ordered the traditional breakfast with scrambled eggs and it was smothered in cheese and the eggs were not cooked completely. I have ordered this many times and the eggs never had cheese on them and always cooked through. My husband ordered the sausage and gravy. Again, very sub-par. The server did not bring me my OJ, punched in the order wrong (husband wanted scrambled eggs not fried eggs), and no toast showed up with my meal. We waited for 40 minutes for our food and another 10 minutes for the server to bring the check. The quality controls are not existent. Very sad. read more

New in town. Went for late breakfast. Crowded but seated quickly. Friendly service. Eggs Benedict delicious and comes with salad, which was a nice change. Market vegetable omelet looked good as well. Overall, a great experience. The food was delicious! Our server was super-friendly. I'm not a fan of relying on apps to reserve seating, but it worked, and we were seated right away. My only real complaint is that my wife's pancake was cold when it arrived; the kitchen made up a new one and it was handled pretty well. My omelette was warm, but not hot. My kids' meals were very warm. There is obviously a timing issue in the kitchen, but the taste of the food was great. Another minor complaint: the side dishes are a little overpriced. It was close to ten bucks for two sides of bacon! But, you get so much food for the money, it's hard to complain too much. read more

My wife and I love First Watch the food is amazing and we go whenever we can. This visit our sever was less than adequate. For some reason I really wanted to try this place and drove the 20 minutes from the city out to the suburbs to give it a go! Although the hostess straight up forgot about us (they use a text system, which didn't work and they never called my name) I was really pleased with this place. I got the green juice, which was better than I had even expected it to be, and some toast to start. Their bread is no joke (nutty and crunchy but still really light and airy) and I had four slices while contemplating buying a loaf. I also got the veggie potato hash, which was amazing, and the carrot cake pancake. Really liked the food and the variety of options. read more

Went to First Watch several years ago (pre-COVID) and got (for the first time ever) eggs Benedict. It was so good--it left an impression! I was actually really excited for a new breakfast place. But the customer service here was awful. We first walked in at around 930 or so on saturday morning. We had to stand without being acknowledge for like 5 mins. The host is also the cashier......what a disaster. She was yelling names, while trying to take care of customers trying to pay, while trying to get people on the wait list. The wait was 45 mins to an hour... seriously who waits that long for breakfast. I can't rate the food because i didn't get an opportunity to try it and won't be going back. They had several tables empty and a lot of employees just standing around. If i have to wait that long to be seated how long is the food going to take??? No thanks. I recommend trying the Egg and I.
