Came in for breakfast-party of 2. Ordered the "pumpkin spice" donut holes and two eggs dishes. Waited 1 hour for the donut holes (that were supposed to come out first) to come out ice cold like they were frozen and microwaved. We sent them back only to get another order still cold and greasy as hell like they were soaked in butter and zero pumpkin spice flavor. Our food finally came out and the power wrap was dripping in grease the tortilla was wet. The server was really apologetic, but the manager did not care at all and took of the $5 donut holes and barely said sorry. The people next to us got their food within 15 minutes of ordering. I am a first watch customer from way back. Stating back when first watch opened up across from St. Joe's Hospital. We lived close by so we went there all the time. With all the choices we now have for breakfast we really have not been back to First Watch since we moved to the east Valley. Okay lets get back to business. At this location I found the hostess was not very nice. She was okay with us but the customer before us she gave a very hard time to. We were seated on the outside patio since this location in Tempe was full inside. it was a little warm still being in early Septemeber but we were out of the sun. The patio was small and someone elses dog was sitting in front of our table begging for food. Not the restaurant's fault, but you would think that one of the waitresses would say something to the customer, but no she had to walk around other people's table to finally get to us. Lets talk about that. It took 12.5 minutes before we even saw a waitress and another 7 minutes before she got to our table. Not a good way to impress customers. She was nice enough, but the two encounters I have had with the staff of this place already made me not want to come back. The food when we finally got it was as good as I remembered it. I think First Watch needs to remember that service is a huge part of retaining customers. Would I come back. I don't think so. There are so many other restaurants to go to, why would I? read more

We come in to this location multiple times a week as it's been my pregnancy craving and we've been coming in late afternoon and the servers haven't made a fuss at all and have all treated us so well. My spouse and I were out and about and wanted some brunch. Our friends love First Watch, so we decided to give them a try. I am not an egg eater or get excited by sweet foods, so my breakfast at home is more like another's lunch. Interestingly so, I noticed all three of the young female servers had extensive tattoos, and ours also had multiple nose rings. This is not a negative comment, but an observation! I searched and searched the menu for "my" breakfast. I ordered biscuits and gravy, a side of pork sausage and seasoned potatoes with a glass of milk and my better half had coffee and the Farmhouse SKILLET HASH consisting of 2 eggs any style atop fresh, seasoned potatoes with small pieces of bacon, roasted onions and tomatoes with cheddar and Monterey Jack and a small piece of avocado. This potato mix was quite greasy and the potatoes were under-cooked as were my potatoes, a bit hard. The eggs were cooked as ordered, over easy but were cold. They graciously cooked them again and they came back hot but overcooked (could this be due to a microwave reheat?) this time. My biscuits were rather small and the gravy was scant making for a dry chew. The potatoes were as stated before, under-cooked, but not greasy like her's were. The pork sausage consisted of two very tasty links. We were unhappy with our meals and unfortunately spent a little over $40 with tip. We do not plan on returning. read more

We loved The Good Egg when it was here. Every Saturday for 8 yrs! Now, its a new place. The decor is very rustic, modern reclaimed. I would classify this menu as "Artsy Fartsy". LOL The menu was verrt similar to Good Egg, still served the Avocado toast plate, one of my favorites! Not too impressed overall. It was just okay. A little pricey for ordinary food. I've been wanting to go here for a while and finally headed in for lunch today. I had the 1/2 sandwich 1/2 salad combo with the ham & gruyere sammy with the chicken avocado chopped. I tend to be an optimist and tend to find the good in anything. But these were both seriously delicious! I got my sandwich fix (sandwiches are my one of my favorite foods) while being able to feel somewhat healthy with a small side salad that wasn't over dressed. I wish I would have taken a picture but I ate my food by the time I realized I didn't, but I got the farmers scramble and then added a side of hollandaise sauce and oh my! It was amazing! The service was amazing, we sat on the patio because it was a perfect crisp morning and laryssa was our server and she greeted us with a smile, made sure the coffee was hot and full at all times, made sure our toddler had crayons and plenty of high fives along the way! Food came out with no issues and quick! Felt nice to have someone check in regularly, as long as Laryssa is our server we might have to make this a regular stop along the way. Let me tell you a little something about this place. My bf and I went here for brunch (his first time) and everything was great. The service was amazing from beginning to end. We had and avocado toast as An appetizer and that was delicious! I had the BLTE (Bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, eggs) with their Seasonal Squash soup. The squash soup was so rich and creamy, when I took the first spoonful I felt like I was sitting by a campfire on a cold winter night all warm and snuggled up. My bf had the seasonal bacon which was soooo good I stole a piece and added it to my sandwich. I have gone to other first watches and enjoyed but this location is not up to quality. Our food orders came out wrong as for either the waitress got it wrong or the cook I am not sure. The waitress never checked on us to even complain or get it fixed. The restaurant was not busy during our visit.... I will not be going back to this location. read more

Sometimes it is great and sometimes it is horrible. Going Sunday, 9/19 was one of those horrible times. We placed an online order at 9:13am for a 10am pick up. We got there a little early at 9:45 and started to wait for it. At 10 we asked the take out girl to check on the order and she return from the back to tell us our order had been canceled. I looked at my emails and at 9:56 (4 mins before pick up) the order was canceled since "There was an issue communicating the order to the in-store system." Even though I received a conformation email when it was placed. When we asked if we could place the order now since we had been there waiting for it and she said "well you might as well". We started to place our order and she turns the tablet around and says "this" with our whole order that we had placed online. She said she would go to the back and tell them to make it. Finally after getting the food after another 15- 20 mins she gave us the recipe and pointed us to a 5 person line to pay instead of her running our card. So after waiting for almost 40 mins we got cold food and bad customer service. The service and the food are very inconsistent and you never know what you are going to get. read more

This was our first visit to this specific First Watch location, but not our first to the restaurant chain. We have always received good service and the food has without fail been prepared with excellence. This specific location is nice because there is an outside patio seating area, as we do like to sit outside when the weather is nice, as it often is here in sunny Arizona! If you've never visited First Watch, I will tell you that they have a very healthy, and tasty menu, in addition to the usual staples you might expect. My mom and I were trying to grab lunch to celebrate our dog doing well at a competition, and we decided to go to the First Watch near me. We called while we were on our way, 15 minutes out, to make sure that our dog would be allowed on the patio. The woman who answered the phone said yes, dogs are allowed. Once we arrived, I put my name in at the host stand and was told it would be a 20 minute wait. I went and waited outside with my mom and dog (a 6 month old puppy). 21 minutes later, an employee came out to tell us that "only service animals" are allowed on the patio. I'm not upset if that is the actual rule. I am upset that our time was wasted. Had we been told 36 minutes before this, when I first called, that dogs are not allowed, we would have chosen somewhere else to eat. The employee didn't even seem apologetic. We mentioned that we had called ahead to ask. She didn't even acknowledge that we had waited outside for 20 minutes either. This experience left a very poor taste in my mouth with a business that I normally rave about. read more

Absolutely love this place! Great option for a healthier breakfast and lunch items. No mimosas or bloody Mary's but the lightly sweetened green tea was perfect. I had the market farmhouse skillet (add bacon*) and it was a very generous serving size. No complaints about the skillet- it was perfect with a fresh side of seasonal fruit, whole grain toast and some sweet jam. I highly suggest it. The service was overall pretty quick. We went around 10 am- there was a 10 minute wait but free coffee while you are waiting. All of the staff was friendly and the seating is very comfortable. I wasn't too fancy about the method for paying at the entrance rather than the waiter taking the check.. reason being the front is rather packed with people waiting to be seated so it's a little tight but the prices are great and so was the food so We'll be back! read more
