The best, iyam, are the Avocado Toast because they put a good amount of smashed avocado on top of the toast and it's served with two eggs cooked to your liking. I also like the Trifecta with the waffle, two eggs, choice of meat, waffle. Assorted goodness. They also have delicious Salads and really tasty Sandwiches. Service varies, but typically we have had good to exceptional service. Sadly our more recent visit was not up to par. The young lady taking care of our table seemed distracted. Items ordered lagged, when it did arrive it was not cooked as specifically requested. Item was sent back and replacement came less desirable than the one delivered previously. When it came time to drop the check she asked me and my friend if we had coffee. By the process of elimination AND by glancing at the table she could've easily seen three coffee cups, placed in front of those that did order and were drinking coffee. Their Yelp shows that dogs are allowed, and past reviews on Google reviews even discuss customers bringing their dogs to this location. Sometimes Tempe location was slow with the food serving tho but I still like to go. It's been a long time since I have been to first watch. When I opened their menu, I was surprised by their price--after the egg price went up and all the other places raised their prices, first watch still kept their very reasonably priced menu. I believe it was around 12-13 for this huge plate of omelette. And the food is as good as before. The omelette is fluffy and filled with bacon and avocado. The bread is buttered in the kitchen. I tried my very best but I still couldn't finish the whole plate. I will always recommend a casual brunch with friends at first watch! I have always loved First Watch but I had to leave a raving review about my experience this morning! My boyfriend and I stopped in and were quickly sat in a nice booth with a beautiful view! I got an Orange Juice which is by far the best OJ I've had at a restaurant! Sweet with just the right amount of tart. The Hash was super flavorful, with such good texture from the onion, spinach, and crispy bacon! We sat all the way to the back corner to be courteous since I had my dog. Eggs made perfect, sausage gravy, French toast, waffles, toast, potatoes all delicious! We love they have pitchers of coffee on every table and it is great tasting coffee, creamer is a name brand. Actual Maple syrup in little bottles is terrific! They hire some of the most efficient and friendly waiters and waitresses. We have been coming here for about 2 years. First Watch is a good, not great, breakfast/brunch restaurant. There is something for everyone on the menu from omelets, pancakes/waffles, healthier breakfasts, lunch, salads, sandwiches, and soup. The downsides: -First Watch does not serve alcohol. -There are only a few pancake/waffle options so you won't get any decadent cinnamon roll, peanut butter, nutella flavored options. -Depending on what you order, it can be reasonably/decently priced. $6.39 for a stack of pancakes (no sides). See below. I was feeling pretty basic so I ordered the Trifecta- pancake, eggs, and choice of meat for $11.79. I upgraded to the lemon ricotta pancake for +$2 and ordered a side of fresh, seasoned potatoes for $3.59. The total came out to $17.38 without tax and tip. Not cheap for a single breakfast. Portion was decent but could have at least included two chicken sausages and potatoes imo. The lemon ricotta pancake was meh; I'd skip it next time. There was a generous dollop of lemon curd, very reminiscent of filled doughnut lemon curd. The ricotta was the selling point and reason I had upgraded but could only find a smidge in the center of the pancake. If you're looking for something more elevated and healthier than your chain breakfast/brunch spots, First Watch is a good option. Just be mindful of cost/portion sizes; you won't get diner portions here! read more
