It's possible that I've eaten in this restaurant more than any other while living in Dayton, partly because the restaurant scene here is not great, but also because it is a pretty reliable breakfast spot. They do nice fresh and light meals and their service is solid. They also have a good selection of fresh juices. As such, it gets very busy on weekend mornings, but it's a big place and they have a good system so the wait is usually bearable. You can also have coffee while you wait. Nice touch. read more

Came here on a Sunday for brunch because I heard great things about it from native Ohioans. I came with 3 other friends and the wait to get a table was about an 30 minutes, which isn't too bad considering the wait times that I have to endure back in socal. They have an app that you can use on your phone that tells you when your table is ready and where you are in the line to get a table, which was pretty awesome. Once we got inside, we were seated at a booth by the window. The ambience was loud and casual, as most brunch places are. As far as service, the waitresses would come back often and check up on on if we needed water or anything else. In terms of the food, I ordered the garden hash, which was flavorful. I just wish that it was more food, but overall you can't really go wrong with eggs and vegetables. Altogether, nothing spectacular but it was good food. They give you coffee and water for free, like most places. Solid place to get breakfast food if you're in the area. But nothing special. If you don't like waiting for a table, then I would suggest you go to IHOP or some other place to get food, but it could be that it was just a Sunday. Grade: B read more

After six years, I'm finally revisiting one of my first reviews on Yelp - the chain breakfast cafe First Watch. Since that first review, I've frequented this location at least a dozen times. For the life of me, I don't know why I originally gushed over this place. Perhaps it was youthful exuberance or beginning reviewer naïveté. Whatever it was, the restaurant definitely doesn't deserve such glowing praise. In the ever expanding panoply of breakfast eateries, this particular First Watch is exceedingly average. Their traditional breakfast, omelettes, and specialized dishes are decent enough. This location always seems to be extremely crowded, so their service suffers at times. Ironically, the one aspect I originally raved about most - the coffee - is now consistently the most disappointing part. Weak and flavorless coffee is the worst. Silly 2008 Me. read more

I ordered to go an order of the pumpkin pancake meal on my lunch break at work. I went to pick it up, got back to work, cut into the pancake and it was complete goo. I called back and they said they would make me a new one. I get back and sit there for about 15 mins and they ask why I'm waiting and I say I called about the pancake... and it had been sitting on their counter while they handed out several other orders. The waitress asked if I wanted to check and I said sure. Again, the pancake was goo! I said this to her and she said let me talk to the cook. She comes back and says it's supposed to be like that, if they cooked it more it would burn. Guys, turn down the griddle then, learn how to cook pancakes! So I leave and am like whatever. But it stews in my mind that I couldn't eat that crap and essentially paid $12 for the side of egg and sausage or whatever. So I call back and ask for my money back. The manager asks for my address and says he'll send me a gift card. And I was like oh cool okay but how do I get my money back, do you need my card #? He says oh well it could take two weeks and corporate this and that, it's $20 so even more than what you paid for. Tired of everything, defeated, I gave up. I wrote an email to corporate! They said oh, pancakes are not supposed to be like that, we'll follow up, what's your address we'll send you a $20 GIFT CARD. I said I don't plan to go back, I want my money! They never responded. Soooooo if you decide to go and your meal is garbage, know that you won't get your money back. The staff was kind, don't get me wrong, but the way they handled it was absolutely ridiculous. Just give me back my money? Open the cash drawer... and give it back! Y'all wasted a ton of my time and didn't feed me. Really fresh, flavorful food. The pancakes are divine but my favorite thing on the menu is the chicken pesto quinoa bowl....fresh, light, and FULL of flavor. They're always crazy busy on the weekends so best to get here early. The staff are pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Lots of healthy food choices that don't feel like deprivation! read more

Really busy, especially on the weekends, anytime you go. My favorite is the chicken pesto quinoa bowl. It has quinoa, sun-dried tomatoes, steamed kale, pieces of baked and cut chicken, and pesto. Very tasty! Some hotsauce and salt adds a little something special to it though. I also like the bacado, which is a bacon, avacado omelet. Staff is friendly but there is one unhappy waitress who works at this location. She's not mean, just looks super depressed. read more

The potential for great breakfast, but not for lunch. Went here for lunch and realized I should have ordered breakfast. ATMOSPHERE: Clean, nicely decorated restaurant. FOOD: Ordered the quesadilla... STOP ... why, I am not sure why... just felt like it. It was a sloppy mess of stringy chicken and salsa and it must be removed from the menu. The tortilla was soggy with the salsa and the cheese missing. It was supposed to be served with avocados but came with none. When I told the waitress, she brought back spotted brown avocado slices that were barely enough to cover half the quesadilla. Fresh avocados are a must! SERVICE: See above. The food was good consisting of fresh products. The pancakes really are big (trust them). The bacon cheddar pancake is worth a try! The wait staff was very friendly and prompt. My only complaint is the room temperature. I debated several times If I should go out to my car to get a jacket. We were traveling and stopped around 11 AM on Sunday and had about a 10 minute wait which was not bad. The restaurant was very busy so it must be well liked. We were greeted promptly and our waitress brought us back coffee in our own insulated pot which was very nice. The menu was interesting and offered a wide variety of options. We chose the least interesting being eggs, potatoes, meat and toast. The food came quickly and the presentation was nice. We did feel that it was a little expensive for what we received. In Toledo area this would be half the cost. $27.00 for our two breakfast with coffee just seems excessive. read more

I was terribly disappointed with my experience here. The food was below average. Our server was grouchy and never checked on us. We spent $32.00 for a crummy breakfast for two. I had the smoked salmon frittata. It might have contained 2 eggs. The salmon tasted off. The minuscule amount of sauce was tasteless. The ciabatta toast was cold and dry without butter or jam. It was just bad. My wife had some kind of egg sandwich served on a plain hamburger bun. She was very disappointed and left hungry. We won't be back. Another Broken Egg Cafe is far far superior to this place in every way and the cost is probably lower or the same but you always leave there satisfied. To provide background, I have been to first watch many times before and have always been pleased with the food/service. I created a yelp account In response to this experience. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant in my life. I am writing this in disappointment as my morning was ruined by my experience with first watch staff in Kettering. I ordered a meal for both me and a date. Both meals were incorrect and bacon came on the plate of my date, who is a vegetarian. This was not a problem at all as our food was quickly and kindly remade. Once the plate came back, they had forgotten the side. This was still no problem as we shared the other side of bread. When we went to the counter to pay, a server stared disgustedly at me and my date as I was paying. Even with the problems receiving our food, a generous tip was left to account for the extra service required. I could not believe that this man would be staring at me like this. I asked him to stop and he continued to stare at me until we left. I will never go back to this restaurant and will passionately remind others of my u fair treatment. read more

Great place to go for breakfast! They offer some unique breakfast items, my favorite being the avocado toast. I bring a large group of senior citizens here about every other month and they are very accommodating. Service is always fast and great. They fill coffee urns and place them at the tables so you can refill when needed, which is great. They offer liquid creamer in 3 flavors- half & half, french vanilla & hazelnut, however they don't have regular white grained sugar. They have packets of sugar substitutes and then they have sugar is in a glass jar and it's coarse brown sugar. read more

I found them through for dash dyeing the social distancing situation but decided to save a buck or two by ordering directly from them and picking it up. I've never had anything at First Watch that wasn't absolutely delicious. Their pancakes, sandwiches, hashes, and waffles are to die for. You'll also love the fresh juices, like the kale tonic. My sister and I were looking for a place to eat lunch while out and about. She had been here before so we decided to go for it. I ordered the chopped chicken and avocado salad and she ordered the turkey club sandwich. My salad was tasty although I personally did not care for the chipotle vinaigrette it came with. Fortunately, I had ordered it on the side so that problem was easily remedied. I was surprised to find out though that none of their salad dressings were homemade. I expected there would at least be one house-made dressing. My only complaint about the salad itself, and this goes for every restaurant out there, TAKE THE FRICKEN STEMS OFF THE SPINACH AND ARUGULA! Everyone uses baby spinach and baby arugula which means there are even more stems! Ugh! The turkey club sandwich was good but she said it was better the last time she was there because it was on ciabatta bread and not the sourdough. I would go back again and try something different.
