    Lunch portion baked ziti
    Juliana S.

Good lunch portions on my baked ziti and the not pictured lunch lasagna that my husband ordered. Lasagna was very saucy, ziti was a bit less so. Service was good, and the place was clean.

Let's start with how much I loooooove a good Italian dish and my go to usually lasagna. Problem is that we rarely get to eat it due to how much it messes with my blood sugars. But... the lovely Mrs has been wanting to try Jimmy's out so we decided to meet family here for dinner and I am super pleased we did as this was incredible! We got there around 530, it's a cute small store so it was already crowded but the aroma wafting from the kitchen kind of makes you forget about possibly waiting for a table. The servers took care of us immediately as they separated a table for six & set up our table for four. This seemed thoughtful as we would have waited for a table for just us but regardless there was absolutely no hesitation is doing this. Service is attentive, polite and doesn't roll their eyes when I ask a bunch of questions about the menu. I decided on lasagna, the lovely Mrs order's fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, brother orders chicken cacciatore and his wife ordered the eggplant Parmesan... it's a very short wait for our meals to show up and they are like lava hot which is impressive considering how short the wait had been. My lasagna is tasty but way too much tomato and not quite enough cheese, meat and pasta for my likings but the flavor was incredible. The lovely Mrs's fettuccine was my favorite dish as it's just creamy pasta flavored to perfection. Don't get me wrong, they are all very good and I would have issues on what to get during our next meal here. I stopped and chatted with the kitchen staff and they were polite and informative when asked questions. It's a super nice mom and pop eatery that I wish we had more of as we'd drive way further and drive past numerous 'corporate' store to go here. Just plan accordingly as there may be a wait, the food will come to your table straight out of the oven. This is when you take a chance to try the garlic rolls because as I am writing this, I wished I'd bought a 6pk to bring home as they were some of the best rolls I'd ever had... if you're ever in the area and are wanting something special, go here, have an incredible meal(and plan to take leftovers home as the portions are massive). Relish in the fact that you're supporting local families.

Yum. No matter if you're eating inside or on the massive, covered patio, Jimmy's is fantastic. They're one of our date night favorites! Definitely recommend.

Happy to finally get here and enjoy another new experience from my Italian bucket list. Jimmy's is definitely on the far edge of my distance radius but I'd come back anytime just for those little garlic rolls! Amazingly soft, fresh, hot, tasty and comforting. It's a cozy setting, feels like home. Two dining rooms, booths plus a lot of tables. Not a lot of space between them so it will be loud, in a good way. Like an Italian family gathering. It's a little dark inside and the simple decor is sweet. Loved my Veal Parmigiana, and loved that there was no issue substituting linguine for the included spaghetti. My husband got the Veal Piccata. Meat was tender and generous. Both sauces were great, the marinara was chunky and outstanding. Prices definitely reasonable too. Our waitress was on the ball, attentive, and so enthusiastic and so cheerful! She had to cover a lot of tables and didn't miss a beat. Sorry I didn't get her name but I will remember her! Our app was brought by a gentleman who I believe may have been Jimmy. I noticed another table where a pizza was ordered and I'm not positive (since I didn't want to crane my neck and stare) but I fear it was cut up into squares instead of slices. Eek! Sacrilege! I forgive them, but would be very mindful of discussing this if I ever ordered pizza there. New York rolls on the menu though, can't wait to try one. There's no actual bar to sit at, though "full bar" drinks are available. There's a 4 % surcharge for card payments which is automatically on the bill, so speak up if you're paying cash. Loved Jimmy's !

If you want an interesting take on Italian, Jimmy's is around. It was a middle-of-the-road experience, but I do love some of the creative takes they have on their food (and the alfredo's cheesiness is NOT kidding around!) The menu offers cash-only prices; there's a 4% upcharge if you use a credit card to pay. PROS: -The entrees offer a good chunk of "freebies" including a salad and two garlic bread knots. -If you're always upset that restaurants skimp on the alfredo, this is your place. My food was absolutely swimming in a rich, creamy sauce that was ridiculously luscious. Very, very heavy but in the best of ways. -Parking is ridiculously easy. They are located next to (but not in) a strip mall with a ton of excess parking. -Prices are on the lower end. If you're tired of paying $15+ for just appetizers, you'll find Jimmy's prices really refreshing. -Staff was busy but friendly. They checked in pretty often. CONS: -The lasagna doesn't appear to be a traditional lasagna. It was small strips of a lasagna noodle (cut into strips) alongside small bites of meat in an alfredo/cheese-esque soup. There wasn't any square/rectangle of cut-out lasagna that I usually expect from a lasagna dish, and it felt like way, way less noodle and meat that I usually get from a lasagna. -Our carbonara was really fascinating. It was a marinara-esque sauce that tasted closer to a spaghetti sauce than anything else. It was good, but definitely not what we were expecting! -I almost never leave an Italian place (especially with alfredo options!) hungry, but I did here. -The complimentary house salad felt a little weird. It's a bowl of basic lettuce with one tomato slide, two onion cuts, and one cucumber slice on top. The "one" topping of each additional topping felt not-great. Maybe it's just who prepped salads that night, but both of our salads came out the same way. -The sole restroom in the building was out of soap. I know the wait staff is always really busy, but after noticing a couple of wait staff use that restroom then leave, it was mildly concerning to go to pee and find no soap.

Good service, great food. Love the tomato marinara sauce and the garlic knots are so soft! Pay with cash for a discount. Also the cannoli was amazing.

So good as always, kind staff and delicious food. The pink sauce is so delicious and the fried cheese cubes are my fave. They had soda in cans instead of fountain, but other than that it was great!!!

On my first visit, I ordered a cheese pizza, mozzarella sticks, and the Trio Delight pasta. When I arrived to pick up my order, it wasn't ready, so I had to sit around and wait for a bit. The cheese pizza was very forgettable. I was expecting an excellent wood fired char, and that's not what I got at all. I'm guessing they just use stock photos on their website, which sucks, because that pizza looks great! The pasta was okay. It was better after I reheated the leftovers in the oven. Second visit, I ordered the cheese pizza again, and the bruschetta appetizer. As I said before, the pizza was definitely forgettable. I quite literally forgot that I had even had it before, and I would not have ordered it again had I remembered. The bruschetta... LOADED in onions. I put the leftovers in my fridge, and my fridge and freezer still reek, and I've been breathing fire ever since I ate it. Too many onions, and not nearly enough basil. I would not get the bruschetta again. The pizza and pasta wasn't bad, but I wanted it to be SO much better. It's one of those places that I'm not going to write off completely, but I'm definitely not rushing back there. Just bummed because I wanted it to be better.

Took about 5 mins for someone to come to our table upon seating. She brought waters and we asked for a soda. The soda did not come for another 20 minutes (after we asked/reminded). Waitress also mentioned she was bringing bread to the table, which took another 10 minutes. Portion sizes are drastically smaller than they used to be. Peasant salad was extremely small and had huge pieces of the butt of the lettuce head. The pasta pictured is $22, and the dish was the size of my hand - also only had 3 strips of chicken breast. We alerted the waitress that 2 pepper shakers we tried to use seemed to be out of pepper, but we weren't offered a different shaker. We saw others being offered fresh cracked pepper for their salads, but we were not offered that option. Ambience was fine, but we were seated in a corner table out on the "covered patio" area of the restaurant, and we did not get much attention. Overall, disappointing experience from a service and quality/portion perspective.

Quickly served what should have been a nice half loaf of airy Italian bread. Please see pic in manhandled squashed bread. Not exactly appealing or appetizing with the hand and thumbprint left in the loaf. Entrees were served in a reasonable time. Shrimp Spaghetti was fine. Nothing remarkable about it that would make me order it again. The chicken Marsala was quite disappointing. The only thing cooked well was the asparagus. Two small breasts were over grilled, easily happens to breasts 1/4" thick and they couldn't even come up with enough Marsala sauce to cover them?!? I guess 2 slices of mushroom in the sauce were generous. The cafeteria ice cream scoops of mashed potatoes were a nice touch. I had to actually laugh when my plate was set in front of me. What upscale restaurant serves mashed potatoes using a scoop? Cold dense and had a lumpy weird texture. Felt like they added cold mash to hot mash and tried mixing them together. The cafeteria quality food doesn't match the decor or cost of the entree. The deal is if you are charging an avg of $30 a plate in Dayton for Italian entrees you better up your game. Brio really doesn't. Hopefully new people continue to come here because I think repeat customers will be hard to come by. I can't say I have a convincing reason to return which is unfortunate because everything else is set up for success. But if your primary function is to deliver Italian dishes at a higher price point than the local competition your food has to be better and customers have a higher expectation for what we are paying for. In Brio you may find better elsewhere but you'll never pay more. Sorry Brio, one and done for us.
