Came here recently for a pickup order. We were under a bit of a time crunch so I was very pleased with how quickly they were able to fill the order (~10 min). The pizzas were the smaller side (one pizza could serve two hungry adults). Their ingredients were high quality and the pizzas tasted great. Old scratch Pizza is an excellent pizza place that provides gluten free options, as well as vegan friendly options. The pizza is fresh and handmade, the only downside is that the pizza tends to be very greasy, and sometimes inconsistent. The service here is amazing. The first time I went to this establishment, there was a bit of a wait for the food. While this didn't pose a problem for me and I didn't feel inclined to complain, they gave me a gift card as an apology. This demonstrates that this business deeply cares about their service and quality. Especially because nobody had even made a comment about the wait time. Old scratch is a cozy little place, excellent for big groups or family gatherings. Their menus are excellently designed. All of their graphic design choices are very intentional and gorgeous. Good pizza! Pizza - Sauce is good and ample. They offer a build your own and several prebuilt pizzas. No substitutions on the prebuilt pizzas. Toppings are plentiful and high quality. Meats were not greasy and their sausage is made in house. They give ample mozzarella on the pizzas. The crust is pretty thin. On their one size pizza, the tip of the pizza is not supported when you pick up a poece and toppings fall off. Either use 2 hands or a fork to start a piece. The end crust is not very bready or substantial. Drinks - over a dozen beers on tap. Some foreign, most local. Good selection. Service is timely and good. The restaurant ambiance is nothing special when the doors are closed. We were there when it was snowing. The 2 garage doors open during the spring make the place special, I am sure. read more

Get prompted to tip twice(for the food order, and again for the separate drink order) They have bench seating and long tables or 4 seat tables. I came here because I was nearby, this original location has not been my favorite. I tried to ask for a box when I ordered and got the answer that I could have one later, or get it to go. I replied that I was just trying to save someone some work later as I was planning on eating some now and taking the rest. The cashier looked at me like I had 3 heads and smirked condescendingly. That I could do without. They have 3 wood fired pizza ovens, really cool to take a look and see it in action. A few TVs up near the bar. I was waiting to try Old Scratch Pizza Neapolitan Style. I enjoyed the Pepperoni (Dayton), Mr. Scratch, Margarita, and Cheese Pizza known as The Elliott. The Angry Beekeeper was the most spicy one. Old Scratch bakes their pizzas in a brick oven unlike other pizza places. The leader of the non-profit in Columbus suggested Old Scratch and was not disappointed. This was the best vegan pizza I've ever had. And the closest one in flavor to pizza in Italy. The dough is delicious, the tomatoes are the best quality, definetly imported from Italy. We really liked the concept of the place, delicious pizza with a full bar. The design is pretty modern, with long tables and cool utensils/napkin/plates kits on each table. What brought me there was a separate section of the menu dedicated to vegan pizza, this is very rare, so I've had to try how is it. The best hands down. With a glass of cold beer, it was the most amazing end of the long day at the Hocking Hills State Park. My husband also enjoyed his pizza and beer. We've heard a lot of good things about this place and so we had to try it out during UD family weekend. The white pie was SO GOOD.Crispy crust with the perfect amount of flavor. Dayton pizza had my FAVORITE type of pepperoni which is the small slices. The crust on this one wasn't as firm as the white pie but was just as flavorful. Stopped in for lunch on Saturday. The place was pretty empty. Ordered the Specialty Aloha Pizza and an Elliot. The Aloha was very disappointing. Toppings were scarce to say the least and it lacked flavor. The Elliot which is just a cheese pizza was good as usual and had twice the cheese. We have been to the Centerville location but this was our first time at the Dayton Old Scratch and it was hopping! When we first walked in, we didn't see any tables but the manager greeted us as we stood in line to order, asked how many in our party, pointed to the table we should take, then went over and cleaned it off himself. I thought that the pizza was solid. They use 00 flour, so no need to get the gluten free crust. I got gluten free crust and asked for extra crispy. I think that the original crust may be better as the consistency of the gluten free while good, may not be as solid as the regular crust done extra crispy. My friends and I were attending an event at the Dayton Convention Center. Old Scratch Pizza & Beer is nearby that location. The restaurant has a counter to order food. After you order food your order is delivered to your table. There also is a bar for alcoholic drinks. I opted for the Lunch Special with Margherita Pizza and a Caesar Salad. The price for the lunch special was reasonable. The salad was first delivered. The dressing was good and the ingredients were fresh. We came to Dayton for a weekend trip from Pittsburgh, just to check it out! As is our norm when we travel to new places, we always like to try a well rated pizza joint in town. Old scratch did not disappoint. The service was very fast and the pizza was divine. Lots of people in the restaurant that night and it took some effort to find a parking spot and a place to sit, but we were undeterred--just means it must be good and we were in no big hurry! Contrary to all of the positive reviews, I am suspect is old scratch pizza ages their dough atleast 24 hours before use. If you are prone to stomach indigestion due to "fresh" pizza dough this place might do it to you. I cannot seem to escape bloating and an upset stomach all three times I have tried to go here and force myself to like it (because it does taste great). Love the changes this establishment has made since opening. Their cauliflower appetizer has always been a favorite, but new additions to the menu were great also. Got the hummus platter and loved the flavor of everything. Still not as many topping options as I would hope, but I appreciate the quality of quantity approach. Gluten free crust is some of the best I've ever had and I love that they cook it at a different rate than regular crusts, when I go other places it will be burnt to a crisp.
