Stopped in on a Saturday on a whim, and I'm so glad we did. I had thought it was a bit pricey, and surprisingly it was very affordable and a lot less than expected. We both got a sirloin with 2 sides, a beer each and shared a feast. It was around $60 for all that!!! I got an 8oz and my daughter got the 6 oz. Both were perfectly done. The broccoli side was excellent, mashed potatoes good. The fried apple pie was excellent also. Draft beers reasonably priced also. Our service was good. I was in town and this restaurant popped up on Yelp, by the photos of this place look pretty good, but I was kind of curious why only 3 stars customers are giving them. I ordered the Ribeye Steak, maybe I misread the items it suppose to come with, I thought it says come with 2 side, and I ordered the mashed potato and Caesar salad, ending up they charged me additional $3.99 for it, but whatever, I thought it come with it. Salad was okay, nothing special about it, is Caesar Salad ‍ After another 15 minutes later, my steak came, I was surprised to see on the plate is only the steak and mashed potato only, nothing on the side, like some green for decoration, you know what I mean? Like put some kales on the side or something, make it look more presentable. Also I thought I read the description says have some others mushrooms and onions suppose to be on top, nothing! We discovered this small southern chain in Kentucky nearly 2 decades ago, and recommend. We were looking forward to patio dining, but management made an uniformed decision to close patio. Lots of good things to report - Unfortunately, my salmon was served a day old; I should have returned the dish, but choose not to; I shall not order salmon again from Cheddar's. We ordered the Wisconsin Cheese bites that were very good. They weren't overly breaded and quite honestly could be a meal in themselves. It's not just three or four cheese sticks but quite a big appetizer. For meals, my girlfriend ordered the Cornmeal Whitefish Platter. She had fries and coleslaw and said her meal was quite good. I had the 8 ounce top sirloin dinner with fries and a small salad. The salad was a small up charge of 99 cents. The salad was very good, the fries just okay, but the 8 ounce top sirloin was not a good cut. It was very hard to eat. I got mine medium-well done. The steak wasn't tender at all and I would not order a steak here again. It looked like it was properly cooked, so I feel it just wasn't a good cut of meat. On the plus side, there are plenty of other food choices. Additionally, our server was very friendly and attentive. I still recommend but just not the steaks. What an absolute trainwreck from start to finish. We waited forever for a big table, only to be shoved into a cramped back corner where four people had to sit awkwardly on the ends. It took 30 minutes just to get drinks, and they weren't even put in until after our meals were ordered. We were celebrating a birthday, but the night was completely ruined -- everyone had to rush home for bed, the croissants were cold, and the kids were up late on a school night. The only positive part of the night was Ashley, our waitress. She was phenomenal and clearly doing the work of several people all by herself. I really do not have any reason to give them less than five stars. I have been to several Cheddars and they all provide a great modern ambiance, very friendly service with a menu with great options. Today I opted for a salad with grilled chicken and honey mustard dressing. That along with their famous glazed croissants make for a perfect lunch. I moved away from the area almost 20 years ago. Although, I have visited many times, this time I returned for the funeral of my mother. On 12-21-25 while out Christmas Shopping , my wife and I decided to stop at one of our favorite places to eat. Today however surprised us. We stopped to eat, the door staff was friendly and sat us very quickly. They sat us in the back of the restaurant. The restaurant wasn't very busy. Once sat, we sat there looking at the menu. Not one employee stopped to ask if we needed anything to drink, or tell us that our waiter/waitress would be with us shortly. Instead we sat there patiently, only to watch other customers to be waited on, other tables being sat around us and waiters/waitresses waiting on the new customers, ignoring us completely, After 20 minutes, my patience left me and I got mad, I asked to speak with a manager about the poor service, only to be told that they would now wait on us. I know we aren't important as customers and the store could probably care less, but it's a shame that a reputable place that my family and I have always enjoyed will not get our praise or recommendations.
