I've been a Firestone customer for 15+ years, across multiple states, and previously held the Firestone credit card. Last week, Steve confirmed he had Blizzak snow tires in stock, said he would reserve them, and scheduled my appointment. I verified in advance because I live 60 miles away. This morning I drove 110 miles round trip, took time off work, arrived on time, checked in, and the work order was correct. The lobby was empty. After over two hours, I was told: "We're sorry -- we don't have your snow tires. We must have sold them." Then they said they were pulling my car up. No call. No warning. No attempt to resolve the issue -- despite this being a safety-related tire replacement. I left and went to Les Schwab, where I had new snow tires installed immediately. I am now an ex-Firestone customer. This Bozeman location wasted my time and broke a clear inventory promise. Do not rely on Firestone's word if you're traveling any distance. read more

While changing the serpentine belt tensioner they damaged the alternator that functioned perfectly when the car was brought in. they made us pay for the part, but not labor (that tells ma they knew they were at fault) Now 1 year later almost to the day that alternator is bad. They cannot diagnose this issue as there is a slight tick in the engine and they don't want to go further with testing. I have cancelled my firestone credit card and will neve go there again. Melissa at this store was overwhelmingly rude, told me I didn't know what I was talking about, even went as far as to ask for my fathers phone number because I "clearly didn't know what was going on". Will not be going back. Brought in a car that needed an oil change and fluids filled, but also needed breaks checked and general inspection. They called me and emailed me multiple times to tell me I needed a new battery and that was it. When I arrived to pick up my car, they did not touch the fluids or my oil saying it wasn't on the order form, when that was the main reason I brought it in anyway! I know for a fact my power steering was low because the entire town can hear me when I make a turn. But they couldn't mention that during the calls or emails? And then maybe I could've been like "hey yeah actually i need all of that looked at." But instead, I was very happy to pick up a car that still needed some work done, but at least had an oil change. And not only do I still have the same problems, but my battery is acting WORSE since dropping it off. read more

Less than 1 mile and $500.88 and waiting 11 days after having the Bozeman firestone repair a leaking hose which was misquoted and went from $150 to $500-$700 ive learned my lesson. I brought it in on Wednesday 7/15 at 3 I was told it should be done on Thursday and shouldn't be more than $150 or so. Sounds good I'll be down tomorrow evening to pick it up. Called Thursday 7/16 at 4 pm. "Sorry cars not done we couldn't find the hose. It's going to be about $750 we need to pull the timing cover as well" this was relayed to me after I had taken time off to pick up the car and believed it would be ready. Fine let's wait. It will be ready next Tuesday 7/21. Tuesday 7/21 I call the shop at noon. Sorry the car isn't going to be done today the master tech called out sick. We got the part in Monday night and were ready to go but Yea the guy is sick. Again the shop didn't call me or communicate any issue with me until I was planning to pick it up. This was extremely frustrating. Wednesday 7/22 The first time THE SHOP CALLED ME, not the spineless manager Micheal who knew how badly he kept screwing up but another low level employee. "Sorry we got the wrong part won't be here til Friday" yea it's going to keep dragging on. Now I've lost a weekend, taken 2 days off to pick up a car that wasn't ready and I'm being treated like Im an idiot. I let the emotions calm and decided to pick the car up Saturday 7/25. First the cashier rang me out and never gave me a receipt, then we spent 10 minutes looking for my lost keys while "Micheal the super competent manager was on hold trying to reset his password for his firestone account". Found the keys went out to start it and it's dead, no lights no bells nothing. An employee comes out and jumps it and I made it less than a mile before it dies again. It was apparent the battery wasn't reinstalled properly as the hold down wasn't reassembled and the cables were loose. Called the shop and the manager said have it towed somewhere else he was expecting it to break down. I spoke to Brent Reed the district manager +(1 (360) 820-8611 in case anyone else needs to contact him here is his cell) ended up talking to the store manager and getting him to agree to tow it back after telling me that I was being a "tough customer". That was a good chunk of my experience not including the amount of time I've spent on hold and losing half a weekend to take my vehicle to another shop to fix the things these guys failed to fix. I needed new tires on my truck and even though my last experience at this shop was great, the recent Yelp reviews almost scared me off. Nonetheless, I had ordered the new tires through TireRack and had them shipped here for installation. Once again, it was a 5 star experience. Great communication about the appointment and what I wanted, the shop is clean and comfortable, the staff very nice and responsive and they did everything promised for a very fair price. I called the day before to confirm appointment and was told no such appointment existed. I was in town for an event and after eating supper at a restaurant I was heading back to my event and my tire quickly started going flat. I was frantic because I knew stores were closing. I headed towards the area where firestone and one other tire place were in hopes to find a place open. The other place was closed and firestone was going to close in a couple minutes. I talked to the manager Johnny and they weren't able to repair the tire because everything was shut down for the day, but he agreed to put my spare tire on... you see it had begun to rain pretty hard and I didn't want to be out in that weather dealing with something I'm not as familiar with and get myself wet and dirty for my event. I call to check in everyday throughout the week and can hardly get through to them or when I do they tell me I need to speak to their manager but he's never there to speak too. Went to this Firestone facility to repair a windshield wiper motor on a 2003 Land Rover. They came back with an estimate of $1,100 to replace the motor and install it. They quoted $630 for the motor and the rest was Labor. They also quoted $168 for a windshield wiper arm. Their labor rates are $115 per hour. I did a simple Google search for a 2003 Land Rover windshield wiper motor and discovered that I could buy it all day long for under $100 from virtually every parts dealer that carries those types of parts. I questioned Cody the service tech and he said he could only buy the part from a European dealer and that he had no option. I pointed out that it was 10 times the cost of anything on the market and he had no answer for me. We obviously did not go forward with the work and felt completely ripped off just to pay 53 bucks for him to tell us this. They quoted 2 hours to replace the motor when it's a job that would probably take less than half an hour max. I found the replacement wiper blade arm for $19. We ended up buying the replacement wiper motor for $62 with free shipping and a one-year warranty. We paid a mechanic 50 bucks to put it in. Totally reasonable. So instead of paying $1,100 we paid a total of $130. read more

Went in and requested "destination " model tires for my truck because I have them on another vehicle and really like them. Sales person for whatever reason talked me out of them and said I would be much happier with Trans force AT tires. I have just finished an 800 mile trip with these new tires and cannot stand them. Vehicle wanders all over the road with these and you cannot get a straight line from the vehicle. They are absolutely awful tires to drive with. Kicking myself for listening to somebody who had a vested interest in selling me something else. Must've had an incentive for this. TL;DR: I got my car back in worse condition and paid 7 to 8 times the price I should have. The guys here ripped me off. I came in for an oil change and brake checkup. Turns out I needed new brake calipers, and they were charging me $2500 for them, charging $1000 a pop. Foolishly, I had them do it. I get the car back and find out I have a huge oil leak. I take it to a different mechanic and they tell me that the firestone ended up causing the leak. I also happened to mention how much I paid for the calipers. They said they would have charged $140 for each brake caliper. I ask several other people and they all say something similar, nothing even close to what I paid for it. In the end, when I confront them they deny that it could be done for so small a price. Anyway, don't go to firestone. They'll probably rip you off too. read more

This store is more concerned with selling its tires than customer service. They actually refused to remove my snow tires and put my standard tires back on. They told me my tread was so bad that it would be "illegal" for them to put my regular tires back on. This is a lie. There is no national or state law in Montana requiring a minimum tire tread depth. "There is no national law governing minimum tread depth, but 42 states consider 2/32 inch the minimum legal tread depth. California and Idaho consider 1/32 the minimum, and Arkansas, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Carolina and West Virginia have no standards on tread depth." -- www.dunntire.com I literally drove away from Firestone and drove a block down the street to one of their competitors. The serviceman there walked outside with me and preformed the "penny test" on my tires before telling me, "these tires are fine. They could go another season. Only place open on a Sunday and low on cash...Even though it took 5 hrs, they worked very hard to find the parts needed for what ended up a very large repair! Everyone is nice, HONEST and fair. Canceled our brake appointment via email with no explanation provided. No decency to try and reschedule, no decency to call. When contacted location said it was due to a scheduling conflict. They provided no explanation as to why we were bumped instead of the other car; just blamed corporate. They did not offer to get us in or make amends in any way! So we're set to head out on a long trip tomorrow without brakes. FOLLOWUP: Random guy from a store in Washington called back (not anyone from Bozeman). Stated that there are some technical issues that do not allow a store manager to know all of the appointments that are booked. Double booking is common. In this instance the other customer was called and their appointment was also canceled.... So, in general if you schedule an appointment, don't expect it to be honored! read more

I'll never do business with these yahoos again. Bought my tires through Tire Rack. They were delivered and signed for. When my vehicle was brought in I also requested a front end alignment. Car stayed overnight. When I called next day, "Your car is next for the alignment". A few hours later we go to pick up. They hadn't done anything, because MY TIRES WERE GONE. Melissa, one of the managers, seemed unconcerned and said when tires are delivered, they just throw them in back and do not label them as purchased or anything. Basically put everything on me to solve. Also she said they don't sign for anything because of Covid. Yet UPS had the name of an employee there who accepted them. So basically they were either stolen or sold by the shop. So had another set sent to my home. More jacking around but finally got them on. Only reason I went back was that I had already paid for install and the alignment. Then they charged me for tire recycling, but put the tires in the trunk. Three weeks for a tire change. Oh and tire racks price was $250 cheaper for the same tires. Won't be back. read more

Waited two hours and they came back and said it was done, The changed the alternator belt and did not do anything with the tires. For the second time on a 12-day camping road trip through National Parks, my 2002 Mazda decided to not start. Neighborly campers helped me push start it, and once out of the park and within range of wifi, I yelped the nearest large cities in Montana to find a garage that would have the parts to service my foriegn car. The best choice in regards to having time to work on my car, being helpful over the phone, and locating the suspected part, was Firestone Complete Auto Care in Bozeman, 5 hours away. I loaded up on gas and drove non-stop to 7th Ave in Bozeman. Kurt, who had answered my questions over the phone and located a starter for my make and model, was there, along with Gier, to welcome me when I arrived. As they had earlier informed me, the part arrived just 2 minutes before I did. That afternoon and the next morning they both went above and beyond in skill, respect, knowledge, and service. Kurt asked Gier to drive me to a hotel when I dropped the car off, which he did, helping me locate a safe hotel within my budget. I don't know the name of the third person, the technician who did the actual repairs, but add him to this list of amazing employees. This was actually the second time on this trip my car wouldn't start (same symptoms). So I called the first shop where the alternator had been replaced three days earlier and asked for a fuller report of the diagnostic results as well as why they didn't replace the starter. Then I called Kurt to relay this more detailed information, which he took in and thanked me for. Firestone's employees had all the relevant diagnostics performed on the alternator (to check that it was actually good though it was new), the battery, the starter, and the battery terminal wires. Turns out it wasn't the starter, but it was the terminal's connecting wires. Kurt also suggested, based on the miles and the manufacturer's recommendations, that I have a full fuel tune up done to flush out the engine, to which I agreed. They then completed full tests to ensure with the new wires that my car started multliple times. It now runs more smoothly than before (the fuel tune) and starts on first crank (like it did before this problem started). The repairs were reasonably priced and completed in a timely manner. The employees were knowledgeable, pleasant, proficient, and respectful. Absolutely trustworthy. As a result of this highly positive experience, as a single woman who loves to travel, I have just downloaded the Firestone app so I can find them in the future whenever I might need a reputable and trustworthy garage. read more

Terrible customer service. I scheduled an appointment with a drop off time of 7 am to have brand new tires put on. I showed up at 4 pm to pick up my car and the rude lady said "it doesn't matter if you drop off your car at 7 am and have an appointment we just get them done by 4 pm". Went to get my winter tires put on. I left my car there all weekend. Came back Sunday night to find that my car hasn't been done. Apparently they didn't have the right part, but no one called me to let me know or ask if I wanted the part ordered. Something was leaking from his car he could not find the leak. Very respectful mechanics. I did not feel as though I was being talked down to at all -a pain most young women at an auto shop are familiar with. I had just had my car looked at at another mechanic and they told me it was okay, and explained to me that my car must not have broken down (although I was in the vehicle when it did), and charged me 100 dollars to fix nothing. Two weeks later and my car is completely damaged with some broken parts, and a much higher price tag on the repair because of the negligence of the first mechanic. I went to firestone and told them what had happened and they helped me to work within my price range, and honestly SAVED MY BUTT. My good friend had a regrettable experience here a few days ago when she got a flat tire a couple blocks away and limped her car to this Firestone. The tire was on its rim. She asked at the counter if they could fit her in and fix it. A female came out from the back (lots of tattoos - mentioning this for identification only) and told her that she didn't have an appointment and had to leave. My friend joked that if she'd known in advance of getting the flat, she would have called for an appointment, then asked if someone could at least help out and put air in the tire so she could go elsewhere. The person told her to leave or they were going to call the police (!!). My friend is over 65 years of age. The police actually came, rolled their eyes, and apologized to my friend for the unreasonable treatment She received. AAA was called and a set of 4 new tires were purchased elsewhere. Scratching my head at the lack of compassion and outright mean treatment. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but Bozemanites are better than this! read more
