I was passing through towing my pathfinder from Iowa back to Idaho I had over heating issues all the way but got stuck in Livingston . I had to get towed ( a whole other issue from Geico road side, where the contracted tow company cancelled the call 5minutes aftet he was due. The uhaul had to be towed by somebody else....geico rules... so i had to pay for towing to Boseman) anyway I slept in the back of my new teuck (2016 silverado) until Eric and Lisa opened up... They were awsome...I would give them 10 stars...Eric was right on top of my issue....heater hoses connection had corroded and needed new hoses... he solved the issue and had me rolling again...I don't think it was more than an hour and I was rolling again. I can't thank Eric and Lisa enough for their help! read more

I want to thank Bozeman Community Auto. Reading their reviews, I saw one that said "this is an honest business". I agree 100%. It's not very often you find a good reliable place to have your car serviced. I was concerned with me living in Denver and not being familiar with the various auto places in Bozeman. I surfed the web and found Bozeman Community Auto. It had great reviews. I had no choice but to try them. My daughter goes to Montana State in Bozeman and has my Jeep Wrangler. My daughter has had a couple of issues with her car. They fixed my daughter's car at a great price. Their technicians were very knowledgeable, explained exactly what the problem was and what it would take to fix it. Having worked on my Jeep Wrangler before, replacing the cam and rocker arms, I was very familiar with the types of issues that are common on the Jeep. Their assessment was right on! I highly recommend Bozeman Community Auto. Because of their popularity, they are busy. It will take a week or more to get your vehicle in. It's well worth the wait. read more

We have a very old classic truck that these guys have been fixing for a few years. I don't know if there's anything they can't repair. Our next big project - getting the tail light replaced without breaking the tailgate with all its rust. But I think they can do it! read more

Back in the Summer of 2022, I was taking a road trip from Columbus, OH to Glacier National Park when a grinding noise started coming from my steering column. I looked to Yelp to see if there were any highly recommended auto shops in Bozeman where my car started acting funny. I stopped by Bozeman Community Auto bright and early the next morning to see if they had any availability, and I was informed by Lisa that since it was a Friday, there were multiple cars that Eric needed to work on before the weekend. Despite this, Eric insisted that he take a look at my car and provided a brief inspection free of charge. He offered his expert opinion on the required maintenance and sent me on my way -- once again, free of charge and despite his looming workload. It is very rare to find such men and women of character who run an honest business the way Eric and Lisa do. They were very kind and courteous and provided great comfort as I was experiencing car troubles 1,700 miles from home. The Bozeman locals are blessed to have such an upstanding business in their community! read more

My car service lights came on 10 minutes outside of town and my wheel was sounding bad. I was just here for the weekend and have to make it back to Wyoming 8 hours on Sunday. I went in Friday morning and the Bozeman community auto helped me so much! I had to get a new wheel bearing. Eric was so great, Knowledgeable, and answered all my questions! Would highly recommend this place. read more

This mechanic was awesome. My daughter's car had issues and I'm out of state. So to be able to find a reliable trustworthy mechanic can be difficult. BCA exceeded my expectations and delivered fixed car ahead of schedule. Thank you!! read more

I really appreciate Eric and Lisa at Bozeman Community Auto - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, they'll have me as a customer for life!

My son ran into a deer at low speed and cracked the radiator. We took his 2006 Honda Pilot with 160,000 miles to the Honda dealership in Bozeman. In addition to replacing the radiator, they wanted to replace the head gasket (the technician could tell by the smell that it was bad) and the rear main seal. They also hinted that the AC evaporator coil might need to be replaced. Their estimate was at least $3,600 and I suspected it would be much more. We decided to get a second opinion. Community Auto replaced the radiator for $100 less than the dealership estimate, they thought the head gasket was fine, and they said they'd keep an eye on the rear main seal during oil changes. My son has driven 20,000+ miles since then and has had no major problems. I highly recommend Bozeman Community Auto! read more

I have been having major issues with my Jeep and spent over a month/4 appointments and lots of money later with no fix at billion Jeep service center. They are terrible. The first phone call from Eric was more than Jeep ever said to me. Eric was intelligent, thorough, and detailed. It was a absolute relief to have a conversation with an auto service provider and not have a endless headache after. I recommend Bozeman community auto all day over dealership service departments..especially billion. I will bring all my vehicles to Eric and Bozeman community auto every time. Thank you!! read more

Trustworthy, fair pricing, friendly and expert at their jobs. I've had multiple vehicles in here over the years. Always my first choice for vehicle service and repair. read more

!!! RIPOFF ALERT!!! I asked them to change my serpentine belt and replace my fuel filter, specifying that if they needed to change the whole fuel pump assembly, that would be fine. When I came in, they told me they wanted to do an inspection, which I declined because this is scheduled interval maintenance. It is supposed to be done, and I want it done, period. So, on top on waiting several weeks for my appointment, after an hour-and-forty-five minutes at their shop, they told me it was done. The service writer told me that "they inspected the whole thing" and all that was wrong was the serpentine belt. She told me that the mechanic wouldn't change the fuel filter because the pump would have to be replaced, too, and that was a $500 part (like I care), and sent me on my way. They 100% profiled me on my car, thinking that i was poor and charged me $175.50 to change my serpentine belt, a price that is unheard of. Well, first off, I have $6,500 worth of room on my credit card for a piddly fuel pump, and second-off, they ripped me off to hell and high water on a serp belt. Why would I ever come here again? This is the worst experience with an auto shop that I have ever had, ever. I am lucky that they only got me for the price of a belt, which, by the way, takes 15 minutes to change. read more

I made an appointment to get my brakes changed. The lady was very nice and quoted me a fair price. When I got there they finished fast and I was happy. I'd recommend for sure. read more

Extremely satisfied and appreciative of this company's constant exceptional service. They always make your service a priority and go above and beyond. The only mechanic I go to in Bozeman! read more

Eric was able to fix two different issues with my truck. I felt like he was very honest with me and extremely reasonable priced. I will definitely be coming back here if I have truck issues in the future. read more

They're ok. They do ok work, they certainly don't stand behind their work and charge you for it. They mis-diagnose issues and struggle to find the root cause of the problem until it's too late throwing the cost right back on the customer. Not thrilled, don't trust them, will not return read more

Nice enough people but disappointing on the mechanical side. Charged me $95 for diagnosis and then told me he didn't have the right equipment to definitively tell me what was wrong with my fuel system and therefore couldn't fix it (the main thing I wanted him to fix). The thing he did fix that he informed me was making the sound I was hearing didn't make the sound go away. He told me he was going to find out how much a CV joint would cost me and then call me back with the price so I could decide if I wanted to pay for it to be repaired, which he didn't do. When I asked him about it when I went to pick the car up he said he tried some of his suppliers with no luck, so if I wanted it repaired I'd have to find the CV joint on my own and bring it to him for install. read more

I brought my car in to get the transfer case looked at and they didn't even charge me! They were very considerate and didn't make me pay for anything I didn't need like the last place did. Great work! read more

Helpful, communicative, easy to deal with, and got the job done!

I called the shop because my car was over heating. They got me in that day and diagnosed the problem. Unfortunately to replace the head gasket and timing cover was more than my car was worth so I told them I would have to buy a new car. They then offered to look at the new car and make sure nothing was wrong with it before I purchased it ALL FOR FREE! Everyone there was incredibly friendly and helpful! read more

I came up to Bozeman, chugging since Casper WY, I called Bozeman Community Auto, Eric the owner said he was swamped that day Monday but I could drop it off first thing in the morning! I ended up taking it Monday afternoon and just dropping it off. On Tuesday around 1pm I still had not heard from Eric, I keep calling and no answer! So I ended going over there, well there was a note on the door that there had been a family emergency and he may return later that day or Wednesday. I called and left another message saying I was worried and needed my car done so I could leave by Friday. That afternoon I got a phone call from Lisa, Eric's wife (who was in Denver because of a death in the family) saying that Eric was in the hospital. She was not sure when he would be out! I phoned 6 other shops in Bozeman, no one could get me in till the following week. In the middle of my panic, Lisa called me back, she said that Eric had done a partial diagnosis on my car and believed it to be the distributor, she said that there was someone who worked next door, and could put it in for me, they went ahead and ordered the part, and the guy next door was able to get it fixed by late Wednesday. I went and picked it up on Thursday morning when I met Lisa. Eric was about to get out of the hospital that day! I was VERY GRATEFUL that they went beyond getting it fixed for me! Lisa had stated to me that they had been helped when stranded and they do everything that they can to help travelers! They did indeed!!! Two thumbs up! read more

I had the best experience here with Eric! After struggling with shops not being able to solve my headlight situation Eric had no problem fitting me in the schedule to take a look! Fixed me right up at a great cost! Wonderful people and shop! read more

This shop is amazing! I called around to every shop in bozeman and they were all booked for the next several days. Eric, the mechanic at community auto repair was booked as well, but he made it a point to rearrange his schedule to work on my car. I needed a thermostat and a wheel bearing and Eric changed them in no time at all while my girlfriend and I waited in the shop. The quality of work done was A+ (I was right there and could watch Eric work) and the overall cost of repairs couldn't be beat!I would definitely return to this shop again and I would recommend this garage wholeheartedly. read more

Very impressed with this place! My son is a college student there, and he took in his Toyota because the check engine light was on. They ran a diagnostic and informed him that the oil change place he had gone to had forgotten to properly reset it. They didn't charge him anything and just recommended he get his oil changed there from now on so they can do it right - which we will definitely do! Appreciate their prompt help as well as they got him in right away. read more

Does your motor vehicle have pains and groans? Are you suffering from normal ongoing maintenance needs or have encountered a serious breakdown while traveling through or near Bozeman, Mt? WHO YA GONNA CALL???? (ghostbusters !!!, Nahhhhhh....just get your older (in my case) or newer (prob in your case) ride in to see Eric and Lisa at Community Auto. Lisa runs the bookings and Eric is usually hanging half into a vehicle engine with its hood up. I suggest this: Tell Eric what you technically can about what YOU think might be the problem....once you do that...then GET OUT OF THE WAY because Eric will morph into a kind of vehicular Sherlock Holmes and he will inspect and tinker and look like he is on the trail of Professor Moriarty. He WILL not only sniff out your vehicles ills and pains but fix them quickly, all the while running his astute vehicle repair mind over any other things that may require attention. Eric and Lisa are honest and bright people in their chosen profession. They have very fair charges and will NOT rip you off whether your local or just passing through the 'last best place'. read more

Outstanding customer service! Had to have my vehicle towed after hours. Didn't know of any mechanic in Bozeman so looked on Yelp and this place had such great reviews. Had the towing company take vehicle here and leave it then I called and spoke with Eric when they opened and explained what was going on with me vehicle. He was very nice and was able to take a look at vehicle same day. I will definitely take my vehicle here in the future and highly recommend to others! read more

I am so grateful for this honest and talented mechanic! My young adult son was traveling many miles from home when his engine stopped. After being towed many miles they were able to squeeze him in at the end of the day without any heads up. My son was in a very vulnerable position and we expected a very expensive repair bill for him. Fortunately, they were able to diagnose my son's car needs, repair the problem at a very reasonable cost, provided some guidance and sent him on his way. I would highly recommend this mechanic for other parents out there! read more

My 03 Altima wasn't running and They took me in the same day I called! They found out that what I thought to be the transmission was actually the mass airflow sensor that needed replacing. They ordered the part and got it back up and running by the next day! They also replaced one of my headlight bulbs and topped off my coolant. They were quick and and friendly and their pricing was great! I will definitely recommend Bozeman community auto to my friends! read more

I trust BCA. Eric and Lisa have treated me and my vehicles so well over the last couple of years, I couldn't ask for any more from a mechanic. They are knowledgeable, honest, fair and friendly. They go out of their way to accommodate me. They save me money when they can. They have become my friends in the auto repair business and I can (and have) recommend them to anyone in need, and know they will get the best service around. Thank you both! read more

It was July 3rd, 2014, and I was in dire straights on my way from Denver, CO to the Emerald City (Seattle, WA). I was in Bozeman, MT on the morning of the last day of my trek. I had stopped for gas when I noticed fluid spewing out from my engine. All the coolant had gushed out of my radiator from a hose that had been sliced open by the engine's fan; a problem that was caused by a repair the day previous, from a different mechanic in Sheridan, WY. I needed a mechanic immediately. Panicked, I went to the nearest shop I could find in Bozeman. They unfortunately were all booked up and couldn't help me. And, it was July 3rd...if I didn't get it fixed that day I would be stuck minimum through the weekend. That's when I called Bozeman Community Auto and spoke with the lovely Lisa. I explained my plight, and she said to bring it in, they would get to it promptly. I added some leftover coolant to the radiator and hobbled over to their garage on Gilkerson, which wasn't far from where I had broken down, thankfully. Not only was a met with two of the nicest people you'll ever meet, but their three pups gave me a welcome as well. We conversed briefly while Eric began investigating the issue, and I was tickled to learn that Eric and Lisa were in fact from Denver, and had only recently moved to Bozeman, MT. Eric completed the repair in a timely fashion, and did a full and thorough inspection to make sure my engine had the gusto to drive the remaining 700 miles. And it did. Thank you, Eric and Lisa! read more
