"BUYER BEWARE": Really sad to give this update after going here for more than 2 years's straight, with 2 vehicles: I got an oil change 12/9/25, & they told me to have a "small leak checked", so I did. What a master mechanic found was that someone had damaged a critical part of the cooling system, & never mentioned it. They cracked it, put a clamp on it, & connected another part incorrectly, causing the "small leak"...which "suddenly" occurred after my previous oil change on 8/28/25 here at "Speedy Lube"! Furthermore, he checked a few other things & noted that the OIL FILTER HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED! $90.00 for a "FULL SERVICE" oil change, & the receipt shows "2. Oil Filter Replaced". It gets worse: My right windshield wiper doesn't even touch the windshield, & they never recommended replacement: #18. on their list is "Wiper Blades: CHECKED." And coolant? Absolutely DRY! NO COOLANT at all! The Technicians' initials who did this oil change are Upper: DLK. Lower: JPS. My previous "full service oil change" was on 8/28/25, & the one before that was on 5/19/25: My point is this--NO ONE ELSE has BEEN "UNDER THE HOOD" for ANY SERVICE EXCEPT SPEEDY LUBE! I'm NEVER going back after discovering how they have been deceiving me--it's a shame. They aren't the same precision operation that I trusted for more than the last two years. read more

Not the sharpest place around, doesn't match up with Valvoline and others. Guy couldn't figure out tablet he was using, couldn't input data correctly. When pulling in another guy stepped into path from the side. Was yelled at by another guy. They washed windows, which I had just done at car wash, and left a mess of streaks. They are yelling at each other. Overheard oh we mixed up the last two Toyotas, just write something down...Can't wait to get out of here. Expensive. read more

Rented a car from Avis and the "oil change" warning light was on. I checked and there was 0% oil life in my rental car. Drove over to Speedy Lube and their worker told me he would not charge me $90 for an oil change since Avis should never have rented the vehicle without first checking their vehicle. He filled out rental car with the necessary oil for free. Very grateful to the Speedy Lube staff. My only other option was to drive it back to the airport for a different vehicle. Our rental car worked great driving back and forth to Yellowstone the entire week. read more

As a female, I avoid going to the mechanic at all costs. I feel uneducated and completely out of my comfort zone, but this business has clearly made a commitment to creating an inclusive environment, with an emphasis on honesty. I arrived with apprehension and an open wallet. They were kind, welcoming and assured me that the problem I was concerned about was not an issue and sent me on my way without a charge. Went here for the first time this week. They were fairly crowded and I was in and out in less than 45 minutes. I noticed a noise when I got home. I called Speedy, they said bring it back in. They took a look, found a loose piece under my truck and fixed it in about 10 minutes. read more

We got an oil change before our trip from Missoula to Bozeman for business. Thankfully a friend noticed a large oil stain on our driveway and brought it to our attention--sure enough it was still leaking from our vehicle in Bozeman! So we drove Speedy Lube on 7th which was closest to our hotel and although there was a line of cars ahead of us, they took the matter with extreme concern and gave us (and our leak) priority for diagnosis and immediate repair. Sure enough the other company had not screwed on the oil filter gasket properly, and though it was a quick repair with a nominal fee--they saved us from potentially irreversible damage to our engine! This place has been my trusted oil change place for decades. Now, you can't drop off your vehicle. You can't wait inside. You can't leave your vehicle running while in line. I give this place 2 stars because of the entertainment value of the employees yelling at each other while working but less than a week after I got an oil change here, my oil plug fell out and left me sitting on the side of the highway waiting for someone to bring me oil. We are in town from Texas and rented a car from hertz at the Bozeman airport. The car was given to us with less than a quart of oil. We were around the corner from speedy lube and they helped us right away and we're friendly about the situation. Whereas hertz, not so much. read more

We stopped by here early one morning for an oil change. The other place we checked was completely booked for the entire day, so we were really grateful to get in with this place right away. Over $650 later, we both are choosing to believe that they helped us out in perfect timing, rather than pulling one over on us. They all seemed really helpful and professional here. After the oil change and deciding to go ahead and change the transmission fluid too for $250 total, we left the space but noticed our rear right tire was now leaking brake fluid rapidly. We drove back, and they squeezed us back in to check the brakes, which we discovered were stripped bare on the rear wheels. They got name-brand replacement pads, rotors, and one caliper and charged around $400 for the parts and labor for our Chevy Express van. The prices seemed pretty reasonable given everything, and they discounted both visits a little as well. Our alignment has been really terrible and causing a lot of shaking since then, but we're just going with positive hopes that all the problems right after visiting were a coincidence, and I'm grateful they got us back on the road. read more

I rolled up about 45 minutes before closing with a few cars ahead of me and instead of receiving the normal passive aggressive attitude I was greeted warmly and explained how their process works. You stay in your vehicle the whole time. Simple enough. Once I was in one of their bays it was kind of fun to watch them work. They were professional and quick. And the best part of all was they changed my oil with zero problems. I can't say that about other shops in town. i have gone speedy lube for years. not any more. Yesterday I went in for an oil change. They check tires as part of the service. This morning I went out and I had a flat tire. I may have to buy a new tire if the valve stem is ruined. It was a mistake to let customers in the back area where the oil changes take place. The place is dirty and the service people spend most of their time sitting outside smoking. What a farce. If you are not going to be in my car for "covid safety reasons" maybe you should also wear your mask while you are working. You have lost a long time customer. read more

I highly recommend Speedy Lube. They are knowledgeable, friendly and efficient, and their pricing is reasonable. Plan to get to the shop when they open, so that you don't have to wait in the line. I am adding this review because some of the previous positive reviews helped us find this place. Needed to get a new battery for my son's car (student at MSU). We are from Pennsylvania, so no local connections. I can confirm what other reviewers said. These guys are nice and honest. In addition to the battery, we asked them to check brakes and antifreeze. They could easily have sold us new brakes or a radiator flush, but they didn't. We got an honest answer on the brakes (probably need new ones in 6 months), and the antifreeze was fine too. Nice folks, but... I requested conventional oil and they put in synthetic without telling me first what they were doing. The price was essentially double. I assume they do this more often than not. So, I recommend--if you do go there--that you get EVERYTHING in writing before they start. Also, I checked the oil level about 1/2 later and they overfilled by 1/2 quart--not good at all. So, I had to go back again. Overall, my experience was not good at this place of service. read more

After Jiffylube tried to rip off a friend I decided that I would give Speedylube a try. They got me in right away and got me out quick. But not once did they try and sell me something I didn't need (which I've gotten used to at oil change places). Great customer service and I'll be a customer for life! read more

Never again. Was great once upon a time. Went for an oil change this winter while the weather was nasty, because I didn't want to crawl around in the snow and mud. Big mistake. First, I asked for synthetic oil, and got conventional. Oh well. No harm done. Went to change my oil today, 4 months later, and the drain plug had been rounded off just enough that I stripped it the rest of the way when I went to remove it. I know it was fine before they did it, because I do my own oil changes and never had a problem. Well poo. I guess I'll have to take it out with a pipe wrench. The thing was put in so darn tight that I'm going to have to put new faces on with a grinder to remove it. read more
