After using Whalen Tires for 25 years, they went from being one of the better dealers to THE WORST! in a few weeks. I called at 9am and the person who answered said i wasnt very busy. So i left my vehicle there to have the winter tires, (which were purchased there), changed over for summer. At 10 am the I was the only work order on the desk. At 1 pm i stopped to check on it and not only was nothing done, it was behind several others. They waisted 5 hours of my time and didn't really give a crap! All i can say is NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

Went in for a seasonal tire exchange (first come first served, which was good, since everywhere else is full until mid-December) and told them that one of my tires had two nails in one of the quadrants and needed to be replaced. They tell me they can't find the nails, I asked them to do a water test, which is pretty standard at places like Costco and Firestone. They acted like it was an inconvenience but agreed to do it anyway. I come back to get my car and they tell me they couldn't find any leaks. As soon as I turn on the car, the indicator says one of my tires is low. I'm pretty sure they didn't even water test them. Also, they charged me $100 for a seasonal exchange, which I'm pretty sure is twice what I've paid at other places previous years. I thought about going back to ask them to fix it, but they were so unfriendly about it the first time, I decided to take it somewhere else and not waste my time. read more

So far, so good. They've yet to put the tires on our truck, but from the service I've received this far, im nothing but impressed 110% with Whalen. The tires we have on our truck are huge, and so they needed to be ordered in. I ordered on a Monday, and the woman said they'd be in on Thursday. Well, they arrived a day early, which was impressive. To add to that, the day I ordered them, a man named Mile called me to make sure the two tires I ordered were the tires we already have on the truck (which they are), but the consideration to notice that and give me a call, just to be sure, showed great business practice. So this morning, I get a call from Sonja, letting me know the tires are in a day early. At the time, the mechanics were going to lunch, so she said she'd call me if there was a lull, since I'll have my baby son and 10 year old daughter with me. She remembered to call me when there was a lull in business, which I found exceptional. I wasn't able to go in at that moment due to my son taking a nap, but the service so far has been incredible!! **Edit: They did a superior job putting on new tires, and were extremely fast about it. We'll definitely be bringing all of our tire business to this location!! Thanks, Sonja, Mike, Dave, and all the other employees who made this visit way more than just buying new tires. Needed a flat repair on a lawn mower tire to complete a job. They took the tire in and repaired it and had us back mowing in under 30 mins.

The guys at Whalen tire are great! I went to 3 other places in town that day and they were all trying to over charge me and do things to my vehicle that were unnecessary. I was about to give up until I came to Whalen. I told the man at the Counter about my other experiences that day and he confirmed what I had thought, that the other places were trying to screw me and he couldn't believe it either. The other places wanted to charge me around $300 and Whalen only charged me $40! They were kind and patient with me and answered my questions with respect rather than patronizing me, like I feel so many mechanics do to women. If needed I'll definetly come back here. I took in a tire to get it fixed. The tire had a slow leak and I was leaving for vacation. The next day, while I'm on vacation, the tire starts to lose air again and goes flat when I am on the road. I fixed the tire by buying a can of "Fix-a-flat" at Walmart. It was a lot cheaper and did a better job than Whalen. Steer clear of this place. They are a waste of time. read more

Had them patch my company truck's tires twice now. First time that tire ended dying a few weeks later. Can't say if they did a bad job since the tires aren't great. Second time they patched another one and one of the guys (assuming a manager) mistook my company truck for the company we're contracted by and did the job for free even after me asking if they were sure (out logo isn't exactly small). A week later the same guy spots me and tells me he didn't realize we weren't the actual company and asked if I could pay for the patched tire. I found that to be really odd and a bad business practice... I worked 10 years in retail 1/3 of that as a manager. That would never fly. I went in and paid and had another tire looked at for patching since I was basically right there anyways and find it can't be fixed and they didn't have anything new or used in stock so the spare was used. In addition to the fee to fix the tire patched the previous week which they mistook my vehicle and did it for free, I was also charged a $15 for them to switch out the spare and $3 to dispose of the tire that couldn't be patched. You would think they'd cut a break after I even went back to pay for that previous fix when I bet most people would have ignored that. I don't even get a thanks from the manager for being sincere and paying for it. I will not take my company or personal vehicle there again.. That and be sure that none of the other 25 trucks in the fleet go there. read more

Passing through town on a cross country move and noticed a flat tire. The guys at Whalen were able to get us in immediately to replace the tire. They were honest, friendly, and affordable! Highly recommend! read more

We were in a tight spot, having split a sidewall on a 3/4 pickup tire. While Big O Tires told my wife she would not be able to replace just one tire, and she would have to buy four new ones because "the truck computer would read the tread differently and the ride would be dangerous." Whalen, conversely, had us drive in on our spare, looked over the wear on the tread and said one tire would be sufficient. We left the truck there Friday morning at 9. They called their Butte shop, who had the right make/size, but their delivery truck was already in route. What to do? They called the driver, who left Whitehall, drove back over Homestake pass, then back over again to deliver the tire to the shop in Bozeman. At 1:30 we received a call that the tire was mounted and we were good to go. I find customer service lacking these days,. but Whalen tire has us as customers for the rest of our lives. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. 5 minutes after driving my truck off their lot, it started shaking uncontrollably. I called them immediately as this was a direct result of their "work". They did not take any responsibility and shrugged it off. I later took it to my mechanic and explained the situation. After looking at my truck, he explained and showed me where there was negligence in their oil change which had caused damage. The more people I have spoken to regarding this issue, the more terrible things I hear about this company. I wouldn't trust them with my bicycle, nevertheless a vehicle... read more

We're on vacation, pulling our 5th wheel, & my husband noticed bad tread wear on one of the RV's tires. DId a quick search for tire stores in Bozeman, which also was our destination for today, phoned & was told immediately that the tires we needed were in stock & to drive in as soon as we arrived.
