Fireplace and leather lounge chairs in waiting room
    Tom B.

They were fast and efficient I thought $54.00 for oil change and 26 point inspection was a good deal. The waiting room was the nicest I've ever seen with fire place plus leather lounge chairs. The service write was very polite.

"BUYER BEWARE": Really sad to give this update after going…read morehere for more than 2 years's straight, with 2 vehicles: I got an oil change 12/9/25, & they told me to have a "small leak checked", so I did. What a master mechanic found was that someone had damaged a critical part of the cooling system, & never mentioned it. They cracked it, put a clamp on it, & connected another part incorrectly, causing the "small leak"...which "suddenly" occurred after my previous oil change on 8/28/25 here at "Speedy Lube"! Furthermore, he checked a few other things & noted that the OIL FILTER HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED! $90.00 for a "FULL SERVICE" oil change, & the receipt shows "2. Oil Filter Replaced". It gets worse: My right windshield wiper doesn't even touch the windshield, & they never recommended replacement: #18. on their list is "Wiper Blades: CHECKED." And coolant? Absolutely DRY! NO COOLANT at all! The Technicians' initials who did this oil change are Upper: DLK. Lower: JPS. My previous "full service oil change" was on 8/28/25, & the one before that was on 5/19/25: My point is this--NO ONE ELSE has BEEN "UNDER THE HOOD" for ANY SERVICE EXCEPT SPEEDY LUBE! I'm NEVER going back after discovering how they have been deceiving me--it's a shame. They aren't the same precision operation that I trusted for more than the last two years.

Buyer beware! Billion's service department is totally dishonest and unprofessional from top to…read morebottom. I've heard horrible stories about their sales side, but have not dealt with their service side before. Should have known. My daughter's car would not start and since the tow company told us it needed a new battery, we had it towed to Billion (our regular mechanic could not take it in that day). They took it on a Friday and called my daughter the following Monday, telling her that it needed a new $2500 starter (it's a 2019 Jeep with 60k miles). I called them back and told them we were pretty sure it just needed a battery, but they insisted it was the starter. We said we would like to get another opinion before doing the starter service and they said that we couldn't have the car taken to our mechanic until we paid them $254 - a classic scam artist move. What they failed to tell us was that they charged the battery while at the shop and the car was starting and running just fine after that. Because of their lie, we thought we had to have it towed to our mechanic. They knew all along that the car was running and didn't need to be towed. After we paid their blackmail fee to release our car we found out that they lied about it not running and didn't even tell the tow guy that the car could run - he found that out later. Our mechanic did not find an issue and said the car was starting and running just fine for him, it just needed a new battery. We did not realize the extent of the con job Billion had pulled until we saw the paperwork they left in the car (my mechanic saw it and gave it to us). It clearly stated all they had done was charge the battery and that the car was starting and running. Why didn't that get relayed in the phone call to my daughter, or in the follow up call with me? One reason - they wanted to rip us off for a new starter. We have disputed their $254 charge because they lied to us about what they did and their services were not what they claimed. Their operations manager called me to find out why I would dispute the charge. I explained how they lied about the service and cost us even more money with a second towing due to their lie, he became angry and stuck by his lying colleagues. Clearly he needs some customer service training. What a disgrace to Bozeman and all Montanans to have such a lying, criminal dealer in our area. Unbelievable behavior.

I brought my car in to get a wheel bearing replaced which I was intending on doing myself due to it not being an incredibly difficult task. Sadly I was rather busy and figured it would be easier to just bring it in. Kirk's communication was less than ideal. I spoke with Kirk on the phone 5 times. Every time I called. This was slightly annoying but acceptable. The true tragedy of my visit to Avalanche Auto was when the car was finally finished Kirk charged me 25% more than I was originally quoted. This was an upsetting surprise. I payed what was asked even though almost 600$ is absurd to replace a wheel bearing. Kirk is the owner of his shop and that is admirable I would hate for him to loose business. This being said I believe there are much better local shops in the Bozeman area. If you use Avalanche Auto I recommend talking to Kirk in person if you would like to be treated like a person.
