    Spicy Filipino Adobo Chicken Sandwich
    Jeremy S.

Food was good and the service decent. My wife got the chicken pot pie and it wasn't very good, the flaky dough was really tough and it had way too much much of one seasoning (thyme maybe), it was really strong. I got the Spicy Filipino Adobo Chicken Sandwich and sweet potato fries, I really enjoyed my meal. The restaurant was located in the Ameristar Casino on the second floor. The restaurant was clean and the service was good.

My fireside Burger was good / besides the service that comes with was excellent. Wouldn't change anything.

If we could do 1/2's this would be 3.5. We had the Adobo Chicken Sandwich. The chicken was extremely juicy. It says hot, and it was very spicy hot. And it was very flavorful. The sweet potato fries and the regular fries were really good. The regular fries were so fresh. The Bacon Chicken Ranch sandwich is a signature item for them and it was underwhelming. It tasted completely cold from the first bite. Even with cold ingredients the chicken should have been hot enough to melt some of the cheese. They have lots of great items on their menu, would still be worth trying something else.

The worst service and food.....so slow, gross food, yuck! I would say go somewhere else. But it the only place open on weekdays in the entire massive resort except for a ramen place. You can't even buy a candy bar or drink in the casino or hotel. I ordered steak, fries and a Diet Coke from the extreme rude water. He slammed everything on the table the entire time, never brought the coke, never checked back. I don't know what his problem was. My wife ordered grilled salmon. My steak was ordered medium rare. It came well done plus. I didn't send it back because it already took 30-40 minutes to get our food and I just gave up and forced the tough piece of meat down. My wife's salmon was over 50% skin. And tasted gross. She left hers...she couldn't force it down. Paid my bill, no tip (first time I have done this in many years) Other guests/victims were complaining and doing the same. We went to our room and eat airport candy we had packed for our trip. This is half the fault of the restaurant.... Half the resort....seriously there isn't even a gift shop, convenience store in this massive place. First time I have seen a hotel without an overpriced mini bar. Don't come to the Ameristar if you plan on consuming any nourishments during your stay and definitely don't eat at this poo hole!

Not very busy on a Tuesday night. Got right in and had drinks in under 2 minutes. Quiet night, people were spread out well. Very subdued atmosphere for a casino restaurant. Food was quick and delicious. No complaints!

While visiting Central City and Black Hawk yesterday I took a late lunch break on such a beautiful day. I was in Ameristar Casino when I found Fireside Kitchen on the upper level. The young man who seated me was friendly and polite. It didn't take long for me to get seated. Fortunately, the restaurant wasn't that busy when I visited. I love the fireplace near the front entrance of the restaurant. It's very appealing as you're standing in the doorway and after entering. I was seated in a booth which is always a preference of mine. My waitress was professional and friendly. I like that she wasn't overly friendly or too personable. She took my drink order and was ready to go for my main entree order. I ordered the Fish & Chips. It comes with standard French Fries and not traditional chips. That's okay though! I LOVED the dipping sauce (Cajun remoulade) that comes with the meal. It was so good that I ordered another side of it! The fish was great! It wasn't under or over cooked. I was also impressed with the quality of fish. It didn't taste like frozen or processed fish. My only feedback for this meal would be to serve the tartar sauce in a small cup like the Cajun remoulade and not packets of it. This also makes for a better presentation. I would definitely dine here again for lunch or dinner. I will be sure to keep this in my mind when I'm visiting Black Hawk again. I recommend Fireside Kitchen for a quality bite to eat with family or friends. Enjoy!

We've eaten here a few times before and have never had a bad experience. The Fireside Kitchen offers delicious (albeit slightly expensive) food options for all different kinds of palates. From the more expensive taste (steak frites) to the classic down to earth Fireside Burger, you're sure to find something that can satisfy your cravings after a long day of gambling. Wait times can get long, so make sure to get there early or during off times if you don't want to be waiting for a table.

    Cheeseburger and spicy chicken sandwich

The cheeseburger was really good, but overcooked it a bit. The spicy chicken sandwich wasn't good at all and tasted like soy sauce. Service was a bit slow, but food came out quick once sat. Quiet place at nighttime.

Come up to the mountains and be prepared for over priced drinks and meals. By far the worst experience I've had short of Casa Bonita in the region. Funny how Colorado has these kind of low quality incredibly high priced restaurants but I have to say Denver is not a city known for its food, but maybe with all the implants coming from LA County and ruining this beautiful city we will see something good come from it. Prime Rib $30 and looks and tastes worse than a Sams Club cut, and it came to us cold. They attempted to make it right but my food was already done so we took photos instead. I'm aware fat is typical of the experience but look at the volume there. 3/10 Artichoke Dip Very good and surprisingly there is enough chips to finish this off. Had better, but this is a solid investment for Mountain pricing. 6.5/10 Spicy filipino Adobo Sandwich The Sandwich was flooded with a Nashville hot experience but was poorly balanced. It looked amazing but was just hot and I couldn't finish it, and a woman sitting next to us said it tasted nothing like anything she ever ate growing up. It just tasted like the 1 chip challenge and screamed of chemicals. .5/10 I highly advise running away from this restaurant. The staff is nice, but you can be nice and be bad at making food. It's over, the count is out! I still want a refund!

The shop is very small and a bit tight, but does have both indoor and outdoor seating options available which is really nice. Pricing for their offerings are not publicly listed, which may be by design. We ordered a small cappuccino, a BLT and a ham and cheese sandwiches. The sandwiches are very large (could be easily shared) and the coffee was good. However, the price was quite steep ($38.08). We do understand that BH is a tourist town with no other industry, but nearly $40 still seems a lot for two sandwiches and one coffee. We also didn't find the service super friendly or particularly efficient. At delivery of our food the server said: "I guess I forgot to mention sandwiches come with a bag of chips. Get what you want from the back wall". It took a moment to figure out where the chips were (the back wall is technically the bar) but I finally realized they are on the right side of the shop. We also found it amusing that the options on the Square terminal (for what is basically a self service coffee shop) had suggested tips options as: 25% - 30% - 35% Again, a bit steep for the service provided, but no complaints for the quality and flavor of the options we tried and if we are back in the area we may decide to split a sandwich.

When you pay, 2 redemption coupons are handed per person; one for a lobster tail and one for 2 snow crab clusters. Although this may seem like it is not much, it really is plenty of food unless the plan is to only eat lobster and snow crab (please refer to attached picture). The pho station is ok and the prime rib was very salty, but other than those two, everything else tasted great. Service is top notch. Our server checked in on us and cleaned up our discarded lobster/crab remains very quickly and frequently. Make sure to tip your servers even at buffets!

A few staff members even mentioned that other guests had experienced similar issues. My mother-in-law was visiting from Pittsburgh PA, and we had driven over an hour for the appointment, so it was really disappointing. Some things weren't refilled ever during our leisurely visit of 1 1/2 hours: Certain desserts, sides, salsas and accoutrements like chips at the Mexican bar. The room service menu is not available in the Penn app nor is much information provided about one's stay. We finally found a brochure at the front desk when we went to inquire about where to find a "do not disturb" hang tag (the app live chat was useless for any room information). Room service is upon request only, that info is also not available unless asking a front desk attendant. I requested a Penn play card for gambling, the attendant did not explain how to use it, so it took us two days to realize the card must be inserted in the slots the entire time you play to track usage. You can remove it only AFTER you cash out. - It's extremely frustrating to use the Penn play cards at the machines. Some machines we completely gave up on... - The room was TIRED (both beds had mattresses which sunk from damage/overuse, both headboards had peeling faux leather behind the pillows, there was random scotch tape on the walls and some holes/dings, the toilet's door jam was coming loose from the wall, bathroom was not extremely clean (heavy dust coating on baseboards, hair on bathroom counter, etc) - Of of 6 elevators to the tower: 4 had broken LCD screens (making it difficult to determine at which level the car would stop), 2 made very concerning cable car noises (we begun avoiding them), all 6 were unsecured (guest key card access on cars was disabled; letting ANY casino patrons access the room floors) - the pool deck has posted adults only hours (daily 7-11pm) however, despite various staff walk through a dozen children were still splashing about at 8:30pm on Friday night - the vending machine on the pool deck was out of service and drinks ordered poolside through the QR code available on tables was not delivered to the pool deck (despite note of location in order) - the ice machine on floor 10 was out of order and no microwave was available in the rooms (or in the vending room) making it impossible to get takeout if one got tired of in house options. A microwave in the vending room would be a great addition - ambient music in the casino was great mid-week throughout until on Friday night at around 8pm it was set to blast and was along with the ambient slots noise it was no longer enjoyable. We left the floor shortly after - wait staff on the casino floor was scarce both on weekdays and weekends. It didn't seem they were circulating much, and when they did come by, they often skipped us (we are not big drinkers, so it was fine for us, but it left us feeling un-welcomed). Interestingly enough, for both drinks I ordered during my stay (handed a $5 bill for tip) I was asked if I wanted any change back :-/ - the floral scent that's pumped through the AC units on the casino floor can quickly become overwhelming and a bit nauseating. I understand casinos do this to cover up odors and have a 'signature scent' however a lighter less floral aroma may be a better choice Overall a good value for us (over low-occupancy days and with a good promotion) and a change of pace for a fun few days away from the hustle and bustle of city living.
