We tried Ameristar after a couple bad experiences at Monarch, with our first time at Monarch being great but going downhill fast. We had an absolutely AMAZING time at Ameristar! To start, we got a spa suite for 2 nights and it was equivalent of a very high end apartment. Other "spa suites" I've stayed at in Black Hawk were nice, but they were just basic rooms with a hot tub in them. This felt like a home away from home. The staff were incredibly courteous and helpful. The bartenders and dealers were also attentive and fun to talk to. I regret not trying any of the dining options, as we had plans for dinner already, but we plan to try some again our next stay (I've heard great things about Jinya) We also really enjoyed the rooftop hot tub and pool. The temperature was perfect and I swam several laps during my stay. There are so many amenities. I Will be back here soon! read more

First time stay at the Ameristar Black Hawk and I had a great experience and time! This is my bestie's favourite casino and she frequents it often. She suggested we all go up for a couple of days to hang out and relax and rejuvenate since my first visit to Black Hawk involved a birthday celebration, too many shots, and no good memories. We arrived during a rush so valet and the front desk was a bit hectic. Valet was missing Sergei who would have made sure everything was running smoothly. The front desk was swamped with a line of about 15-20 guest groups. They recovered by bringing out a couple more desk clerks and the line moved quickly and we got up to our room. The two queen room was on a high floor away from the elevator. The rooms are spacious as is the bathroom. Love that the rooms have a water closet for privacy. I love the mission-style decor throughout the hotel, casino, and rooms. Our first night included a spectacular dinner at Timberline (which I already reviewed). We received excellent food and service at Timberline. I would go back in a heartbeat! After dinner we sat in the bar and enjoyed cocktails and the DJ spinning. Music and atmosphere were on point. The bestie is the gambler in the family so we headed up to the room and called it a night. Bed and pillows were so comfy and loved that the AC got the room nice and chilled. Slept great. The next day we enjoyed the pool and hot tubs on the 34th floor. It was perfect hot rubbing weather: rainy and chilly. We chatted with some nice people also partaking of the amenities. We followed up by having lunch at Fireside Kitchen and enjoyed another great meal. Our server was great and our food was delivered by a robot which was hilarious! We hung out on the casino floor and did some lookie-looing and drinking for a couple of hours before heading out and back down the mountain. Thank you, Black Hawk! read more

My friend even brought me to this "club 48" to eat dinner one night while we were there, though I have to admit I was quite disappointed that the food overall was very "meh." Our room was nice but bathroom was dirty and they were weird about late check out even though I paid for it. A little dated. Casino floor had lots of options, but lack of drink ladies and just meh. Parking is not great and is forever away from your room. Inconvenient. No buffet on a Thursday? What? Weird. Also all the food shut down super early and no room service. We went to the monarch to get a good quality meal and immediately saw how average the ameristar truly was. We requested that our room be serviced - it was not. We asked for fresh towels and glasses and did not receive them. We have been visiting the Ameristar Black Hawk for over 20 years. Our room during our most recent trip was absolutely disgusting. Someone clearly smoked in the room right before we checked in. The woman at the front desk blew us off and left us to deal with the nasty smoke. Julia and Paul the "security guards" kicked me and my best friend out for celebrating at a BJ table telling us we were "too intoxicated" and had "blood shot eyes" even though I had two drinks for free at the table and asked for bottles of water with both drinks. This was my second visit to Ameristar and both were great visits. I love the big bar and it's a great place to watch a game or meet and talk to people. The bar tender took care of our group and was on top of his game even though it was busy. It was Thursday and the first football game of the year so a lot of people watching as well as those that were just playing the slots. There were plenty of restaurants but I will say that I walked by the Fireside at 9:30 and asked if we could still have dinner [since they closed at 10PM] but she said "probably not". Well damn. I didn't stay at the hotel on this visit - just a quick visit to see if there was anything new. They do still send me free rooms but after that last stay, I haven't wanted to use them. The poker room wasn't empty but it definitely wasn't as bustling as it used to be. I played slots in a couple of different areas but didn't see much that was new or interesting and drink service continues to be slow to non-existent. Ameristar has such good potential, and it's a beautiful casino, that it's a real shame that I don't feel valued there. It's a nice casino, can't complain. Ample parking and quick elevators. Check was easy and quick. The pool area is nice and well kept. The jacuzzi's are kept a little too hot. Not sure the temperature, but even on a cold day. The outdoor one was too hot to be there over 5 minutes. The space is a little limited and they should add a second. The rooms are clean and the double beds were extremely comfortable. The 5 piece bath was a nice touch. As for the machines, AI and computer games seem to be a rip. The odds at this hotel are not the greatest and the machines pick up an algorithm on your betting. I have pictures of examples. Overall it's worth the visit to stay overnight. To gamble, skip it. I have never dealt with such an incredibly unprofessional establishment in my life. I was charged $400 for a "complimentary room". When i called, they told me there was absolutely nothing they could do and that I had booked the room during "black out dates" that I didn't see at all. I would rather die than waste $400 for a room that should be $60 a night. Don't even get me started on how disgusting these rooms are (cum/blood stains, pubic hair all over the bathroom, cabinets broken, broken toilet, water tastes like chlorine). All in all a decent experience. Buffet was pretty over priced for the selection it had. Guess we were just paying for crab legs for other tables. We didn't use both our tickets. We also had just water and still it was about $60/ person. But we tried the fireside grill the next morning and they had reasonable prices and amazing food. After a fun night gambling and such we came back to our room to wind down the evening. Expecting somewhat of a decent shower the shower was freezing, I could barely even say it was warm. The room, the hotel, the pool and the casino were all great. The problem was that on arrival the attendant behind the counter was incredibly rude. The tone he used to speak to us was one of complete boredom, as if we were disturbing him. I asked if we had parked in the correct location and he just stared at me and asked, "Ae you parked underground?" I said no because none of the parking is underground. I tried to explain where we had parked and said that there were a lot of traffic cone blocking sections of parking but no signs to tell us up, down or customer parking. The first guy was rude and dismissive from the beginning. I didn't understand how I had insulated him before I got to the desk. Well our experience was was horrible from the parking to checkout! First the idiots that had parked in the parking lot at the casino; couldn't seem to park straight! Came back out and I had a huge door ding from the car park next to me! The entire check-in process was OK just OK. We had to give them a drivers license for the luggage cart! Once we got to our room from the first glance, it looked great. However, once we started to investigate, let me show you pictures of what we found... First off there was blood stains on the ceiling! Second, there was warped furniture, a very low flow toilet that needed to be flushed three times after you used the bathroom! And last but not least a lightbulb was burned out! When it came time to check out; our room key wouldn't work at a 10:45! So I asked the maid if we could get in to the room obviously she didn't speak English. She said you have to go to the front desk. Wait she typed on her phone you have to go to the front desk! it took us 30 to 45 minutes to get a manager to even look at us let alone help us get into our room! They got our room key redone; and once we got to the room room service knocked on our door two minutes after we got into our room and said you gotta get out! The amenities were OK the food at the Firestone Grill or whatever the name of the restaurant was was absolutely disgusting! The sausage tasted like rubber the eggs look like they were four days old and the country style potatoes were soggy, not crispy! Don't stay here ever! Oh, I do wanna add one more thing there were bugs on my pillowcase! When I called after we returned home, we were hurried out of the room so quickly that my man forgot his $233 inhaler! So today I had to go pick up a new one because they claim they never found one in our room. I promised you it was there! Security is lax at this casino and hotel. Observed people in the parking deck numerous times in their cars doing crack cocaine. I reported this and they said they only patrol the parking decks once a day. They should be patrolling the deck once a hour to best protect visitors and keep the rift raft out. Once inside, it's pretty nice, except the elevators and parking deck lobbies are a bit nasty. Be careful. read more

I love this place. I could stay here every weekend and if you sign up for their program, you might just get to I pay about $21 a night for resort fee and that's it but I do gamble so they love me. They have some great restaurants but they're not always open so be careful. Great place if you live in Colorado for a getaway if you're just stopping through the mountains, they are kid and dog friendly. Just gotta be careful not to take them on the casino floor. We stayed at the Ameristar Blackhawk and that was some good some bad. The good was the room. It was large and clean. The bed was a bit firm but the pillows were nice! The only downside was the tv guide did not work very well. It had the channels but no guide as to what was on. Strange! Still the room gets good marks. The casino was large with many slots. The Sportsbook was quite nice and we watched a hockey game there in comfort. But the slots were quite tight and not much fun to play. That distracts from a good rating at least in my view. The grill restaurant was okay though the service was not so good. The waiter seemed overworked which was a small problem although the food for breakfast was decent enough. My problem is that the casino itself left a lot to be desired. Had the slots been looser the rating would have gone up. It's nice enough that with improvement it could be great but at least this time it was not what we expected especially when we went elsewhere and had a blast! read more

We came here specifically because it said online that this was an adults only resort but to our dismay this place is full of children. We couldn't even use the pool facilities because of all of the kids everywhere like its a Chuckie Cheese. And there was no hot water to even take a bath. Never coming here again. read more

The worst experience and customer service in Blackhawk, CO. Overpriced, dirty, and unfriendly service, from the door greeter and up to the Assistant Manager Michelle. Drove up on a snowy Sunday 02/04/2024 under the impression that we had a comp night but to our bitter surprise customer service or more so the lack thereof customer care, ended up having to book a Romance Package that cost us $300. That was after booking three reservation. The first and third reservations, were supposed to be a comp for two days each and although these were canceled due to unforeseen and unreasonable booking fees and costs payment, the hotel still processed it as comps and deducted those comp stays from our account even though we did not stay. The second booking we were forced to book a Romance Package that was overly priced for a Monday, and which included $200 food promo at the disappointing Fireside Kitchen. Our first getaway together as a couple turned to be a hell of a stressful logistical back and forth with the front desk and assistant manager. Never ever going to Ameristar again. The casino is great! The hotel and rooms are amazing but the same cannot be said about the buffet. The service was great! They were on top of getting things cleared and drinks refilled, but what the buffet offered was lacking. For the price of $48.99 per adult there was not a great deal of variety. For that price I expect amazing different items and this was not the case. On top of being over priced for a very small and limited selection, the food that was offered was bland, lacking any flavor. First, we always go to the rewards center for a card. Usually they give you free play and we can get points. They asked me for my email, I gave it to her. She said that's not a valid email. What? I use that email everyday. All of a sudden its not valid? So I couldn't get a card. Strike one. So we wanted lunch. Every place is closed except a ramen house. Why in the world wouldn't a 24 hour casino have a 24 hour coffee shop type restaurant? We are not ramen fans, but we looked at the menu. They have other things. OK great. We walk up and wait and wait and wait. Making eye contact with a lot of workers. Finally my husband goes up to a waitress clearing tables. She sat us and we ordered. I got a chicken salad. Guess what? Its a scoop of chicken, mayo and onions. Thats it. Well yeah I guess that's chicken salad. I thought it would be an actual salad. Hubby got a rice bowl and was unlike any rice bowl we have ever seen. So not completely happy with what we got, but I guess its what we ordered.
