Was told early check im would cost me when it was 150pm. Other guests were allowed to check in right after me before 2pm free of cost. Not sure if i was being targeted but sure wasnt a pleasant experience.

A fine location in Black Hawk, Colorado. Canyon views. A mountain feel. The pool was fabulous. I was there during the Memorial Day weekend and it didn't seem too busy. Hardly any screaming children. Outside rooftop deck with firepits were relaxing. Casino was decent. Spotty restaurants to choose from with some being good and others not so good. You take what you can get I suppose. I noticed it is somewhat of a food desert in the early morning hours from 3am to 7am. Overall a nice getaway from the big city. A mixture of spar relaxing, gambling and food. 4 stars!

First time stay at the Ameristar Black Hawk and I had a great experience and time! This is my bestie's favourite casino and she frequents it often. She suggested we all go up for a couple of days to hang out and relax and rejuvenate since my first visit to Black Hawk involved a birthday celebration, too many shots, and no good memories. We arrived during a rush so valet and the front desk was a bit hectic. Valet was missing Sergei who would have made sure everything was running smoothly. The front desk was swamped with a line of about 15-20 guest groups. They recovered by bringing out a couple more desk clerks and the line moved quickly and we got up to our room. The two queen room was on a high floor away from the elevator. The rooms are spacious as is the bathroom. Love that the rooms have a water closet for privacy. I love the mission-style decor throughout the hotel, casino, and rooms. Our first night included a spectacular dinner at Timberline (which I already reviewed). We received excellent food and service at Timberline. I would go back in a heartbeat! After dinner we sat in the bar and enjoyed cocktails and the DJ spinning. Music and atmosphere were on point. The bestie is the gambler in the family so we headed up to the room and called it a night. Bed and pillows were so comfy and loved that the AC got the room nice and chilled. Slept great. The next day we enjoyed the pool and hot tubs on the 34th floor. It was perfect hot rubbing weather: rainy and chilly. We chatted with some nice people also partaking of the amenities. We followed up by having lunch at Fireside Kitchen and enjoyed another great meal. Our server was great and our food was delivered by a robot which was hilarious! We hung out on the casino floor and did some lookie-looing and drinking for a couple of hours before heading out and back down the mountain. Thank you, Black Hawk!

I really like this casino- it's the perfect balance between "laid back" while still being upscale. My friend even brought me to this "club 48" to eat dinner one night while we were there, though I have to admit I was quite disappointed that the food overall was very "meh." However the rooms are quite nice and I'd totally stay here again!

Nice looking casino. I like that all casinos are in one area and literally next door and across the street from one another. The parking ramps are a bit confusing but still easy to get in and out of. Since I was a passenger, I went with the flow.

I didn't stay at the hotel on this visit - just a quick visit to see if there was anything new. They do still send me free rooms but after that last stay, I haven't wanted to use them. The poker room wasn't empty but it definitely wasn't as bustling as it used to be. I played slots in a couple of different areas but didn't see much that was new or interesting and drink service continues to be slow to non-existent. Ameristar has such good potential, and it's a beautiful casino, that it's a real shame that I don't feel valued there. With so many competitive options in Blackhawk, they really need to step up their game in that respect.

Ask the Community - Ameristar Black Hawk

    Does this casino have roulette?

    Yes

    Does the casino allow smoking?

So, there is no smoking in any Colorado casino, but they do have nice smoking patios with heaters. Also, the hotel itself recently went completely non smoking in all of their rooms.

    How loose are the slots?

On a Friday or Saturday night the red one's are hot, but check to see if someone won recently. If so, then they will likely be cold for a bit. It all depends on amount of people playing, weekends are better.

Before booking, I called several times to confirm availability and finally got through to someone who told me there were openings at 2:45 and that I could finish the booking online. I completed the reservation online, entered my credit card information, and pressed complete, so I was surprised when I visited today to be told it appeared the booking had not gone through. When we arrived, the spa couldn't find our reservation and explained they'd been having problems with their new booking system. A few staff members even mentioned that other guests had experienced similar issues. My mother-in-law was visiting from Pittsburgh PA, and we had driven over an hour for the appointment, so it was really disappointing. We also ended up having to choose different services than we originally wanted because our massage reservation could not be found. Thankfully, the staff was very kind and did their best. They were able to fit us in for manicure and pedicure instead but a different times. The spa itself was beautiful and relaxing, and we still ended up having a nice experience overall. Shelly, our manicurist, was fantastic. That said, I truly never complain, which is why this was especially disappointing. I really hope management gets the booking issues sorted out soon because it put a damper on what was supposed to be a really special day. I also feel like some kind of gesture or acknowledgment would have been appropriate for the mistake. Overall, the staff and service were great, and if we had received the experience we originally booked, it easily would have been a 5/5.

The choices were a buffet, 24/7 diner, steakhouse, or a taco bistro. We opted to eat at Jinya Ramen at Ameristar. Also, I was unimpressed by the sparse new player rewards.

We've visited several hot springs over the years - there is something special about this place. The history alone is incredible. People have been soaking in these mineral waters for well over a century, and the springs themselves have been used for generations before that. What we loved most was the character. The geothermal caves are unlike anything we've experienced elsewhere, and the large mineral pool under the tropical dome feels like stepping into another world. Surrounded by palm trees, tropical plants, and naturally heated mineral water, it's easy to forget you're only a short drive from Denver. The caves are a mix between a wet sauna and a plunge pool. Four pool options down there with the coolest at 106 degrees...that is the one we opted for. When we needed to cool a bit, we could just step out into the relaxation area. There is a side for women or men for the caves, so clothing is optional down there. If you're looking for a perfectly polished resort experience, this may not be your place. But if you're looking for a historic Colorado landmark with unique geothermal features, relaxing mineral water, and a one-of-a-kind atmosphere, Indian Hot Springs absolutely delivers. We'll definitely be back.

We went during the quiet adults-only pool time, expecting a peaceful, relaxing soak. Unfortunately, a few guests didn't quite get the memo, so just keep that in mind when booking. I would definitely recommend going with a friend or partner--it was a bit of a "couples' scene" later in the evening. The venue itself is super cute, with tons of plants surrounding the pool and a really nice atmosphere. There's also a convenient bar area nearby, which was a plus. The dressing room was a bit small and could use a few updates, but that's understandable given the building's age. Overall, I'd highly recommend it for a weekend getaway!

The living room came equipped with a large screen and projector along with a huge variety of DVDs. The space was equipped with a mini-refrigerator, toaster oven, and sink. We spent most of our time indoors with a few trips to nearby towns to explore a bit and eat. A microwave or hot plate was really the only thing we missed.
