Woodspur Lodge is like a second home to me. My family has been coming to Winter Park for our Christmas vacation every year since the 80s, and ever since the Woodspur Lodge tradition started, we haven't stayed anywhere else...and wouldn't want to. The staff is so friendly and really laid back. They cook breakfast and dinner each day, which is included with your stay, and it's ALWAYS amazing and one of my favorite parts of staying at Woodspur. The staff rings a dinner bell right on the dot every night, and since the dining area is designed to seat all of the guests in a family-style layout, it's as if we are one big family gathering in the dining room together to eat. If it's not dinner or breakfast hour, you can always wander into the dining room which is stocked full of hot chocolate, tea, coffee, and freshly baked cookies. Woodspur also has two hot tubs that are located at the ends of the lodge, which are great after a long day on the slopes. And the rooms are so cozy, each one designed as if you're in your own little cabin. Woodspur also has one of the best views in the valley. If you step out onto the top deck, you can see for miles, scenes of the snow covered trees and mountains. In addition to the large common area upstairs with the view, downstairs there is a small bar, another fireplace (there's also one upstairs), and a game room with a pool table and darts, friendly for all ages. That room is actually where I first learned to play pool. When you're ready to leave the lodge and hit the slopes, Woodspur has its own personal shuttle service which drops you off and picks you up each day. If you don't have your own ski gear, the staff at Woodspur will even help you make arrangements to have all of your ski gear ready for you when you get to the lodge. I can't imagine ever staying anywhere else with my family in Winter Park. Woodspur has got it all. I really feel like family there.

We came to celebrate our 7 year anniversary. Donna and Brian were so thoughtful and professional. They made sure we had everything we needed and wanted for our stay. Breakfast each morning was so delicious. Donna could have made it as a professional chef! We stayed in a dog friendly cabin, what fun to bring along our pup! Cabin was cozy, warm and the snow was shoveled each day for us.

The xc skiing at Devil's Thumb has always been a favorite for us, as far back as the 70's when it was just a rustic ski trail system with a small nordic supply shop. In recent years it became a full fledged resort with lodging where we have often stayed. We have also stayed in Winter Park, about 15 minutes away and driven over to ski. But we have now found our new favorite option. This is such a lovely place, both the facility and the charming staff. It is a better price value for us than some of the other options in the area, yet more than a simple motel in town. You know, like Goldilocks, "just right." I especially want to note that the (included) breakfast that host John cooks for the guests was wonderful, some sweet, some savory, warm, homemade, natural and ample for the start of even an hearty ski day. They take note in advance of special food needs and serve with a choice of time options. The log style of the building is rustic but nicely furnished. The rooms are well designed and furnished with high quality linens and have lots of storage as some guests stay for weeks. The views from each room are very pretty, some to the Continental Divide, some to the woodland. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful. The central lounge area was large, comfortable, attractive and clean and with a central fireplace. There are also some other smaller gathering areas to sit and talk or read if you wish to be outside your room. And there are also some family and dog friendly cabins on site if you want more than a bedroom. Personally, the rooms in the main inn are just right for my needs. We will absolutely be back. It is convenient to local xc skiing and also just a 15 minute drive past the Winter Park Resort and not far at all from several quality dinner options. We met other guests using the lodging for all of these reasons.

You can walk to every place within the town, easy to get in and out to the slopes, has a hot tub, free breakfast, weed shop in the back, and an owner that is extremely helpful. Thanks to Joe, I will be a long time customer. The price is good for this area and if you don't need a kitchen or have just 2-3 of you, this is a perfect spot. Room has a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. They are oversized hotel rooms that don't seem to feel crammed like others. That is all we needed for our trip.

Ultimately I would have much preferred to have overnighted in the town of Grand Lake, Colorado...a lot closer to Rocky Mountain, NP. Unfortunately rooms were ultra expensive in that quaint little town, so I "bit the bullet" and drove 35 miles away to stay here in Winter Park. I spent $100 plus tax for a Friday night. I was pleasantly surprised how big the room was. Besides 2 queen sized beds, accommodations included a lounge chair, plenty of closet space and an extended area for the bathroom. The spaciousness of the room was absolutely the best part of the motel! I checked in relatively late evening (8pm) and there were no issues. Parking was free and right in the back of the building. Valley Hi is located in the center of Winter Park with plenty of options for food all over town. There is free continental breakfast and coffee offered in the morning with your stay but the following day I had a long drive and grabbed food on the road. Although I was ideally looking for accommodations within the confines of the western part of Rocky Mountain National Park, Valley Hi Motel was more than a suffice place to put my head down and rest for the evening. If you're exploring in the Winter Park/Fraser area, I'd give the green light to come here.

Rooms were clean and well maintained, and had all of the basics you would need. Everything related to a ski day was nice here - had storage for skis and boots so that you didn't have to bring them to your room. In the morning they have a nice spread for breakfast including fruit and cereal, and also have some hot items including eggs, toast, sausage, and bacon. Definitely enough to get you fueled and ready for the day. Then there is a van they run that takes you right to the gondola leaving at 8:30, 9, 9:30. Taking the first van gets you there right for the start of day. And you don't have to worry about parking, walking, and paying at the resort. Rides back were at 3:15 and 4:15 which gave plenty of time at the mountain. I didn't get a chance to try the hot tub but it looked nice. There were some cozy spots in the lounge with fireplaces to sit and relax. And a ping pong table that a few kids were using to stay entertained. Parking here was convenient, and the location is good; very close to everything in Winter Park. Overall I was very impressed with this stay. I will definitely look here first when looking for a place to stay in Winter Park moving forward. I thought it was a fair value, and the amenities made for easy ski days where all I had to do was get dressed and show up to the van on time, and not worry about anything else.

Desperately needing to get away with my husband on a ski-cation to our favorite ski area, we looked into booking a room close to the slopes and found this place to be reasonable for a ski-in/ski-out and a sport studio through Orbitz. We read about the place needing updating, but we decided to give it a try anyway. Thursday afternoon arrival and we were allowed to check in early and found out there was covered garage parking! Nice. The whole place is keyless utilizing coded entryways and we were pleasantly surprised to find a clean and cozy room with a terrific kitchenette complete with granite counters and stocked with dishes & cookware. We had unit 1033 and the Murphy bed was amazingly comfortable for two tall people and the sofa had a pull-out sleeper too. The decorations were nice and very homey with an overall skiing/sledding theme. We liked it. The entire resort's workout area was neat and clean as were their showers/saunas. The pool area has a half in/half out heated swimming pool and two large hot tubs. Very nice area, especially after our day of skiing and wanting a hot tub to relax our muscles. Here's the not so stellar items; our bathroom sink did not drain well, the light over the Murphy bed was out and the windows don't open. But nothing horrible. Last but not least is the convenience of an on-site restaurant, La Collina. Over-priced & overcooked and not very good food from a small, limited menu is what we got. Ugh. Underwhelming. Next time we're going into town for much better selections. Overall, we'd like to return during ski season and maybe even summertime, but do NOT eat at the restaurant.
