Girls getaway at the last minute. My friend got a good rate so we decided to drive up for a night. Traffic was smooth until we encountered a car that was broken down and causing a traffic jam. Luckily we made it before it got too late to enjoy the evening. They require masks but seems like people don't follow it to the letter especially if they're vaccinated. I was comfortable with that. The front desk clerk told us about their restaurant's hours and the complimentary grab and go breakfast. Our room was on the first floor with the Mountain View but mostly we saw the parking lot. We had unpacked some items when I lay down on the bed and discovered a used q-tip. It was disgusting. We debated saying something and in the end it was too much for us so we went down to let them know. He switched our room and we packed up and headed to the fifth floor. Much better view and definitely nicer to know that there was no used q-tip lounging on the bed. The room smelled less musty as well. We decided to ride the Lift and head into town. If you call them and let them know you are at this location, they sometimes can swing by to pick you up so you don't have to walk to a stop. The breakfast the next morning was decent. There was yogurt, granola bars, burritos you can heat up. I can't remember if they had fruit. There were brown lunch sacks to carry your items in which was nice. And coffee and tea in the lobby. The breakfast is on the second floor. The hotel is rustic and I did like it. The bed was comfy and the pillows average. Bathroom came with a hair dryer which is always nice and a warming light which I'm told ski hotels have. I had never seen one so I was playing with it to check it out. Very interesting. When we checked out there was a sign that they were away and to leave our key cards in the container. We wanted to let them know that the smoke detectors in our room had been covered up with shopping bags held in place by masks in case they didn't know but didn't have a chance. Yeah... it's pretty bad. I've stayed here on 5 different trips over the last year for work. It gets worse every time and I can now officially say I won't be booking ever again. This place is in desperate need of being fully staffed and having a large maintenance budget. The lack of attention over the years has really added up Old, beaten, poor service, mold in multiple bathrooms, parking during snow is absolutely ridiculous. The bar/restaurant on site seems to no longer be open. Run away from this place. There are much better options in town for the same price. read more

I booked a night for my husband and child who were on the road, and struggling with bad weather and I misjudged their location. I called to cancel WITHIN MINUTES of making the reservation and was told that they could cancel it, but couldn't refund me, and the manager wouldn't be in until tomorrow. I emailed the manager Czarinna, humbly asking for a refund given the circumstances and she refused. Her hands weren't tied. She chose disaffected policy over the person asking for a reasonable break. About 20 minutes after we checked out, we remembered we'd left groceries in the room fridge. We drove back to get them. Room door was wide open and room hadn't been cleaned yet. Some stuff was still there, but good stuff (beer, cheese) had disappeared. Housekeeping had obviously been there moments before. Front desk said they'd investigate but claimed they couldn't figure out what happened. They didn't offer to compensate us. I get it. We left the stuff, so I can see how someone thought it was fair game. But the staff kept giving us the runaround and playing dumb. We stayed a total of six nights in early 2025, under a pre-paid mid-week special discounted rate program. On all six nights, the restaurant and bar were closed, the pool and hot tubs not operational, and the in room suite fireplaces broken. Most uncomfortable night of my travel life, and I had no sleep all night because of how uncomfortable the bed is! Pillows had no substance to them, and I kept feeling like I was going to fall out of the bed because it was sloped to the side. Then went to breakfast and were terribly disappointed, expecting a hot breakfast but instead finding only yogurt and granola bars one day, and yogurt and packaged cereal bowls the next. Ended up having to go out and find breakfast elsewhere because of a dairy-free diet and no options. On the first day we were told they didn't have a full breakfast because their truck couldn't get over the pass. BS. It was July 1 and there was no snow or even rain that day, and having the same day 2 confirmed we had been lied to about what to expect. The number of tour busses parked around the torn up parking lot suggests they are only staying open because of tour companies finding the cheapest deal they can for groups, and I have do doubt that without those tour busses this place would never make it. At the hot tub the handles are zip tied to 2x4 pieces of wood, then nailed into the wooden steps. Evidence of cheap minimal as possible upkeep and maintenance. Leaving the luggage kept getting caught on the broken threshold that pulled up and stuck to our wheels. Unmaintained concrete and torn up sidewalks open this up to dozens or safety problems. The signs at the front desk indicate the restaurant is open, which is where breakfast is, and we had to question how the restaurant could serve a meal, but hotel guests are denied the advertised breakfast. Ceiling leaks throughout the corridors left us feeling we had picked someplace the owners give absolutely no concern for guest comfort and welfare. Only positive we could find was the young ladies running the front desk and guest service were trying very hard, and continually apologizing for the issues that kept arising. They were very kind and clearly trying since they are the faces we interact with. My goodness, this place is a dump and at least 10 years overdue for an overhaul. The rooms are dated and gross -- beds are super uncomfortable and squeaky. Terrible pillows and blankets. Paint peeling everywhere, especially the bathrooms. Brown stains in the toilets and bath tub. It claims to be pet friendly, but there is literally nowhere to take your dog outside, nor are there any pet waste bags or trash cans outside. I heard multiple people complaining that the on-site restaurant wasn't open for breakfast during advertised hours. I find it interesting that reviews aren't available on the Choice hotels website.... we'll never stay here again. read more

Run, don't walk from this hotel. This place is disgusting. My "suite" #123 had hourly motel furniture in it, a wad of hair in the bedding, and faded paint. The fireplace did not work. There was a kitchen appliance in the room so old that I could not identify its use, though I am fifty five years old, but the last time I saw a heat lamp in a hotel bathroom I was thirty. Dinner? Sold out of chicken wings and hamburgers. For goodness sakes, there is a Safeway three miles down the road. Really? Better yet, the breakfast guys and gals just didn't show up on a sold-out Sunday ski morning. Front desk? No se llama. My son's room #502, had the central light fixture hanging from the socket, a bed ripped away from the wall moorings, and more hair in the bed. Finally, the f-ing bus. Though the hotel is 2/10 of a mile from the Winter Park Gondola, there is a 30 minute wait and a ten minute bus ride to the Gondola. Stay on the resort side of 40 Highway and avoid this madness. read more

I want to be VERY clear.. The 2 stars is for the view out the restaurant ( 5 for the view -3 for a TERRIBLE HOTEL ) .... We came up here for the entire weekend of the Winter Park Jazz Fest...we have stayed in hotels in Breckenridge, Vail, Avon all great hotels...The Winter Park Mountain Lodge is the biggest DUMP I have ever seen in my entire travels!!! At almost $400 a night ( the jack up the price because they know they have THOUSANDS of black folks coming to listen to jazz ) .... The front desk are all rude, except a nice guy with a southern accent, long hair and glasses....the restaurant has 5 items ( yes 5 ) on their menu...for me and my 2 little kids it was $70 for dinner....they let animals be here, so when I got on the elevator I was face-to-face with someone coming on the next floor with a big PIT BULL.... The pool was freezing ( in the middle of JULY ) broken glass, broken hot tub, broken tiles, all around the pool and entire building... they take all of the money from the up-charged rooms and put it where???? Rooms were not even dusted, let alone cleaned and...before you wonder...all of the items mentioned were brought up to the staff who do NOT care and give you some corporate schpiel about the hotel... Disgusting that as a paying guest at this hotel, the only pub restaurant is not serving food tonight because of a private event we are in the middle of nowhere and this hotel resort sucks. We stayed the week before Christmas and were truly disappointed. Upon check-in, the first room had a beeping fire alarm or something, but they had no maintenance staff & moved us. The second room they tried to put us in faced the Highway & that's not what we booked. We did stay in the 3rd room. It was a good size and did have a small fridge and microwave, but was pretty dirty. The bathroom had no fan and the toilet had no lid, just a seat that doesn't go all the way to the front like a public toilet. It's nice that we could keep the fan running all night for white noise, but it blows directly onto one side of the bed. There were kids running up and down the hallway and a large group yelling to each other down the hallway until late at night. Also, I forgot my room key and went to the front desk for another. They simply asked for my room number and created a new key card. Didn't even ask for a name. Anybody could have got a key! read more

I booked this lodge without seeing it for my wedding. The ceremony space was/is beautiful. Our wedding could not have been more perfect, from the changing aspens to the weather! Also, Emily, the event coordinator was AWESOME! She worked her tail off the entire day and couldn't have done a better job. My entire family was very impressed with her. The other staff was also great!! As for the lodge itself, that is another story...The pictures on the website do not match what you see in person. We stayed in one of the suites and the bed was broken, the sheets and blankets were very thin that we had to keep asking for more so we wouldn't freeze at night. Also, the wall paper was coming off the walls in the halls, there were stains all over the carpet, there were awful air fresheners on each floor that didn't smell good and were overwhelming. Being there for my wedding, I was incredibly disappointed when one of our guests had a much nicer room than us. If you are spending thousands of dollars on a wedding, you should get one of the nicest rooms, in my opinion... read more

If you're on a budget, this may be the right place for you. Needs maintenance and a big renovation. Moisture in rooms next to windows--some mold near bottom of windows as a result. Shower curtain rod was broken and kept falling down; luckily they had 1 replacement but the curtain had a gross looking stain, but it served its purpose. My pillow case had a stain on it. No blankets provided (just flat sheet and another layer on top as thick as the sheet), and it was -3 degrees with wind chill outside. Luckily our room was on 4th floor so with the room heater we were still very warm. However, as you walk up/down the stairs you can tell the lower floors are colder than higher floors (there are 5 floors). The restaurant is mostly closed; call them for actual hours and don't rely on website. Breakfast was for purchase at front desk: 2 different hot burritos $7 ea) and the rest was cereal, milk, etc. Burrito was decent. Pool table was missing all pool balls. Location is very convenient; shuttle is convenient is well. Winter Park resort (tubing, skiing etc) is very close--across the highway--so you shouldn't walk there; catch shuttle or drive. Main Roads in Winter Park (as well as drive through higher elevation to get there) were well maintained. We had an AWD but I'd still recommend 4WD just in case. Kids had lots of fun playing in snow. I don't think I'd stay here again, but I would have settled for this a long time ago, considering prices of nearby places. read more

Animal focused hotel with animal hair everywhere. If you have even the slightest allergy, avoid this property. The staff is all bro brahs that are not going to clean anything. For the price I didn't expect anything nice but this place is pretty dirty. My tent is cleaner than this hotel and the breakfast cost $14. Just imagine what your stoner nephew would make you for breakfast and you can now imagine what breakfast is going to be. Good location for Ski/Bike park access. PAPER-THIN WALLS! Heard the twenty-somethings down the hall carrying on until 1AM, which was no big deal, because tHWY 40 right out front is loud until then anyway. Woken up by guy next door in bathroom at 6AM, followed shortly thereafter by toddlers pitching a fit on the other side, and HWY 40 is getting loud by then, so it doesn't really matter. Clean room though. For summer activities, just clean up with baby wipes and sleep in your car, you'll save $100, and get a more restful sleep. We stayed here for a Ski weekend getaway and had a nice time. I think the best part of this hotel is it's wonderful staff. They were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in need of major renovations. It is very dated. The location to Winter Park is the only reason they can justify the prices they charge. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The area was very well kept. The restaurant food was very good but the service was slow and seemed under staffed. However, it was very convenient to grab breakfast there before hitting the slopes! Our room was a mountain view and very spacious. We had a microwave and small fridge. The room was very clean. The room walls were thin and we could hear people in the halls. Luckily we packed a sound machine and slept well. Having a ski shop in the hotel was a huge plus. We arrived at the hotel at 9am. We immediatly got our equipment at the ski shop, hopped on the free shuttle to the resort (it comes every 15 min) and skied until 4pm when we could check in. Overall we had a great time but this jotel could use some updates. I really hope they look into updating before next season as it has potiential to be a great place! read more

The location and proximity to winter park is great, but the accommodations are dated and the rooms were not very clean. There was only a light blanket on the bed and it was 15 degrees outsIde. Additionally, the adjoining rooms are super loud so you can hear the neighbors full conversations. The staff was really friendly which is why I gave them 3 stars. If you need a place to stay for 1 night, this place will do- restaurant and bars are not open on Monday or Tuesday. read more

Now this just makes me MAD!! I stayed here with my two kids and will get to my experience with that shortly, but the big issue here is THIS: Stout Street Hospitality is apparently the owner of Winter Park Mountain Lodge, where I stayed in December of 2016. In July of 2017 I received a letter from Stout that is attached to this review. "An unauthorized party was able to access payment card information for your hotel reservation(s), including cardholder name, credit card number, card expiration date, and card security code (CVV). The unauthorized party was also able, in some cases, to access certain information such as guest name, email, phone number, address, and other information". Are you kidding me??!! There are STILL businesses that do not take security seriously by ENCRYPTING this important data?! The letter then goes on to tell ME that it is "advisable to remain vigilant" with regards to unauthorized charges etc. So... They did not retain data responsibly and are now giving me advice on how to be vigilant?! After my stay here, my credit card received a LOT of unauthorized transactions. It was a PAIN dealing with the bank and getting charges reversed. Some of those charges even came back on me and I had to pay them out of my own pocket... charges that I didn't even make!! The fact that they retain unencrypted data is what angers me the most. A very close second is the time in which it took them to notifying me... Remember I stayed here in Dec 2016 and they let me know about this issue in July 2017! The third thing is that they didn't even bother to offer a credit monitoring solution as part of this. I am blown away. Now to my stay here: The establishment is close to Winter Park which was a plus. Parking was a disaster and I ended up going with the valet. The lobby here was small and very crowded - Because of that it took quite a while to get to the front desk to register. The room itself was clean and somewhat plain but me and the kids slept well and had no issues. We used the pool and found it clean and fun, but very crowded. The best part about the lodge was the restaurant - Moffat Station (I gave them 5 stars). The next day we parked the car ourselves, but again the lot was very crowded and difficult to find a parking spot. I was finally able to find one and then discovered I was stuck because of untreated ice and snow. Checkout was another struggle because of the small and crowded lobby. Because of the data breach and the way it was handled, we will NOT be back. read more

The room was dirty when we arrived: Tub had brown stains, none of the furniture was dusted, and the fan in the bathroom was covered in dust. The bed was extremely uncomfortable I could feel the springs poking me & the bed sank in when laying on it. The pillows were completely flat & barely large enough to use. Please DO NOT stay here, and by no means have your wedding here! The wedding was literally at a campsite! I understand it looks beautiful, but we paid $4000 for the wedding space alone & it was so disappointing! CO is gorgeous, and you can get the exact same outdoor venue almost anywhere in CO, including the campsite located right next door to this place. You'll save $1000s. If you have older guests or someone who is disabled, there won't be any accommodations made for them to hike up the hill to the top of the mountain where the chairs are. I asked Emily (wedding coordinator) if they would take 1 of our disabled guest up in golf car & she refused. Our guest had fallen in the shower bc they don't provide shower mats & she was in a lot of pain. Emily told me no and that we could go out and find a wheel chair to push her in up the dirt road. The hotel certainly didn't offer to provide us with any wheel chair. You will also be required to ask your guest to help you bring down any type of equipment or decorations needed for the ceremony. They'll take it up for the ceremony but won't bring it back down. After Emily and the front desk refused to bring anything down, they said we'd have to go get it. It's very far, so I took my truck up to the campsite, and when I was coming back down...some guy started yelling at me and told me I wasn't allowed to drive on HIS road. We also noticed that only water would be served at reception. When I asked if we could purchase ice tea or lemonade, I was told it didn't come with the package, and the next package was $1000 more. 3 of our guest couldn't make it for the whole weekend but we were told via telephone, email & twice at the front desk that they would make it a high priority to clean the rooms & get an early check in. Of course, that never happened. They were given dirty rooms & were told that housekeeping would go in while we met for dinner. Again, that didn't happen. One of our guest brought her own sheets bc the hotel sheets had dirt & hair in them. The other guess had to get a different room that was also dirty, so he just got his $$ back & stayed at a different hotel that was much better and cheaper. Out of the 20 rooms booked, 8 of us had to switch rooms because they were so filthy. Ours smelled like heavy smoke, although it's supposed to be a smoke-free facility. 4 of us booked for 2 nights, but when We went to breakfast on the 2nd day, we found out they locked us out of each of our rooms. The food at the reception was good, but we requested a dietary change for one of our guests because she is allergic to many spices. This was noted on the contract, but they said they couldn't accommodate her when it was time to eat. After upsetting grooms, father, so much, he was going to have to leave & buy a steak somewhere else. Finally, they fixed it, but not before a whole scene was made. There were many more things like sheets being dirty, I honestly don't think they change them after every guest. Mold in the showers and hair dryers don't work. Beer was $4.50 on Saturday but $8 for the wedding. Website said they have iron and ironing boards in rooms, but they don't. The front desk brought an iron but said there were no boards. The swimming pool was freezing. Sauna broken, and hot tub only filled half way. I don't ever write reviews but felt I needed to do so this time because I would hate for someone else to have a wedding here, pay all that money, and then leave so upset like our family did. After our snowmobile tour ended we decided to check out the hotel restaurant. It was closed so we left. I'm sure the lodge was something in the 70's, but it's in terrible shape now. The layout is extremely confusing. We were on the 6th floor and you had to take the elevator to the 1st floor, up one from the lobby, walk around the pool area, then take a separate elevator to the 6th floor. Our room was through a strange door that "had to be shut at all times". When we walked down the hallway, the first hotel door was opened with decrepit mattresses and furniture stacked up. Entering our room, it did not have air conditioning. I repeat. No A/C. We saw on hotels.com it did not, called the place before booking only to be assured our room would. The room felt dirty from the beginning. There was some dirt in the corner in the bathtub and they had an extension cord to use by the side of the bed. Super outdated. I'll start first by saying that you get what you pay for. I was in town for a wedding and wanted a cheap place to sleep for a few nights. The employees here are extremely friendly, but the actual place is completely outdated and run down. The pool area feels like you're walking into an old undeveloped basement, and the walls were paper thin. The thudding from the room above us was insane in the morning, and I could hear every single time somebody moved in their bed above me. The room had an odd layout. Likely because I was at the far end of the hall in the "700 level" but nonetheless it was clean and comfortable for less than $100/night. This place needs negative 5 stars. Furniture is torn and ripped. Carpets are stained, beds are a wreck. They don't have enough towels to stock the rooms so turn over of rooms are super slow because they have to wash all the linens. Doesn't matter if you want or request room service daily you're not going to get it. And most likely will have to wait an hr or more for towels on your second day. Toilets don't work well enough to flush. Furniture is original so look at the pictures on their website and think about 20 years of use and not being taken care of and that might be on par. Front desk staff are rude and don't really care. The two house guys ('maintenance/ house keeping / laundry workers I'm sure they do a lot) ran their asses off trying to help everyone in a failing hotel than makes motel 6 look like the Hilton. The bar was closed a couple days because the cook was sick. Then they only serve breakfast Wednesday through Saturday not Sunday like the sign at the front desk says and the desk person told us not sure what the sign says but they don't serve breakfast on Sundays! Booked a hotel suite at this locaction. When we walked in we noticed there was food on the floor between the bed and nightstand. Children's coloring pages under the bed. There was also black stuff on the tub. The fireplace did not work, we tried flipping the switch and it would do nothing. The pilot light was lit but eventually it went out and would smell like gas if it was very windy outside. I think the room had an ice maker next to the fridge but it did not work even after pressing the on button. only one hot tub had water in it but the jets do not work. The biggest concern is their family changing area. The front of it has glass blocks where some of them are frosted and some of them are clear. With the clear blocks you can see right through to people changing in there. That is absolutely disgusting that they would not offer more privacy for families changing. If the light is on in the family changing room you can see everything inside of that room. The only benefit to the hotel was the fact we could rent our skis in the building and could get a free ride to the base of the mountain. But the fact that people can be seen changing in the family changing room is absolutely disgusting and should not even be legal read more

I was a little worried about staying at this hotel after reading the reviews but I'm happy to say that we had a very nice stay. Pros: this hotel is very close to Winter Park/Mary Jane ski/snowboard resort, even have a shuttle to get you there and back so you don't have to drive and park. They have a good restaurant bar on site, even though it's a little pricey, the food is good. The beds are comfy. You can bring your dog. The water gets HOT! Cons: the carpets could use either a stretching or a replacement. The water pressure could be better. They don't serve lunch at the onsite restaurant. Tips: If you don't want to pay $3.50 for their in room water bottles bring your own and put them in your in-room mini fridge. Get a room on the Forrest side if you don't want to listen to the traffic from US Highway 40 all night. If that kind of noise doesn't bother you than definately go for the view on the mountain side. Great location. Great customer service. Hotel is outdated, definitely a ski lodge hotel. Walls are very thin, you can hear everything through walls, rooms need to be updated. Snowmobiling is a must !!!! Overall great hotel, however, it's not a 5 star or classy hotel if that's what your looking for. read more
