We started with the green chili cheese fries, and they were so good! Packed with flavor and not so much chili that the fries were soggy, but it wasn't a meager portion either. Could have used a little bit more of the pork pieced in the green chili itself, but the appetizer was generous in portion size, so we were pleased nonetheless. i had a cobb salad, and it was rather large. i would have been fine with a half-portion, mostly bc i eat the hearty items and leave the lettuce be. hubby's burger was a sight for sore eyes and the flavor was packin. his fries were perfectly salty, cooked just right, and were so good! service was great. we weren't inundated with the how is everything? That's where the praise ends. I witnessed 3 people send their orders back for being too cold, undercooked etc. The food was sub par. I ate there twice but it was the only early morning option at Ameristar Black Hawk. Staff were friendly, Joseph, and helpful. But other staff seemed to bemoan their jobs. Seemed a little under staffed. There was a robot that was entertaining. It delivers food to tables with limited success. Minding that robot has to be a pain. The Americano seemed to be Folgers instant. Same flavor. Nothing espresso about it. Sadly, one of the only options. It suffices in the food desert. Room for improvement. Try it and see for yourself. If we could do 1/2's this would be 3.5. We had the Adobo Chicken Sandwich. The chicken was extremely juicy. It says hot, and it was very spicy hot. And it was very flavorful. The sweet potato fries and the regular fries were really good. The regular fries were so fresh. The Bacon Chicken Ranch sandwich is a signature item for them and it was underwhelming. It tasted completely cold from the first bite. Even with cold ingredients the chicken should have been hot enough to melt some of the cheese. We stayed at the Ameristar for 6 days so we ate at this restaurant 4 times. The food was always excellent but the service was very substandard. From the length of time it takes the receptionist to seat you to the time it takes a person to wait on you. The waiters/waitress never return to your table to check your drinks or to check and see if your order was correct. My wife's hamburger was undercooked which would not have been a big deal but they never returned to make it right. Much room for improvement. It appears they may be understaffed. The worst service and food.....so slow, gross food, yuck! I would say go somewhere else. But it the only place open on weekdays in the entire massive resort except for a ramen place. You can't even buy a candy bar or drink in the casino or hotel. I ordered steak, fries and a Diet Coke from the extreme rude water. He slammed everything on the table the entire time, never brought the coke, never checked back. I don't know what his problem was. My wife ordered grilled salmon. My steak was ordered medium rare. And tasted gross. She left hers...she couldn't force it down. Paid my bill, no tip (first time I have done this in many years) Other guests/victims were complaining and doing the same. We went to our room and eat airport candy we had packed for our trip. This is half the fault of the restaurant.... Half the resort....seriously there isn't even a gift shop, convenience store in this massive place. First time I have seen a hotel without an overpriced mini bar. He would have gone earlier had we known their in house menu differs from the one posted online. I even searched "menu for June 2026" for the most u to date info. It seems our experience differs greatly from most other people. The Denver omelette was cooked just right, as was the farmer's omelette. The oatmeal was excellent. Staff was friendly and attentive. We wore a little apprehensive based upon all the other reviews, but our experience is definitely different than most of them. I was hoping for better from Fireside Kitchen. The ambience was good. I like the vibe, I like the fires burning in various areas of the casino leading up this restaurant. The server and the host were both friendly, pleasant, and attentive. The food did not meet expectations. I ordered the Prime Rib (Friday and Saturday nights only). I don't think I've had a more bland Prime Rib experience. The cut was decent but the seasoning I usually associate with a Prime Rib were missing. It tasted very sous vide with a finish on the grille. My husband had the chicken pot pie and he said it was the worst pot pie he's ever had. He said his entire meal was very "Sysco" and had no resemblance of anything other than heat and serve. Nothing was cooked from scratch. The soup of the day, a chicken meatball soup. had plenty of meatballs but was really salty. While visiting Central City and Black Hawk yesterday I took a late lunch break on such a beautiful day. I was in Ameristar Casino when I found Fireside Kitchen on the upper level. The young man who seated me was friendly and polite. It didn't take long for me to get seated. Fortunately, the restaurant wasn't that busy when I visited. I love the fireplace near the front entrance of the restaurant. It's very appealing as you're standing in the doorway and after entering. I was seated in a booth which is always a preference of mine. My waitress was professional and friendly. I like that she wasn't overly friendly or too personable. She took my drink order and was ready to go for my main entree order. I ordered the Fish & Chips. It comes with standard French Fries and not traditional chips. That's okay though! I LOVED the dipping sauce (Cajun remoulade) that comes with the meal. It was so good that I ordered another side of it! The fish was great! It wasn't under or over cooked. I was also impressed with the quality of fish. It didn't taste like frozen or processed fish. My only feedback for this meal would be to serve the tartar sauce in a small cup like the Cajun remoulade and not packets of it. This also makes for a better presentation. I would definitely dine here again for lunch or dinner. I will be sure to keep this in my mind when I'm visiting Black Hawk again. Me and my girlfriend went to the casino to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We got hungry and stopped in at Fireside. We got Toni as our waitress. Toni made our night. She was cracking jokes with us all night and she had an amazing attitude. When me and my girlfriend ever go back and we dont get sat with Toni, we will walk out. We don't want any other waitress. I would give her a 10 star review if I could. Not saying the other servers are not good, but Toni wipes the floor with them. Give that girl a raise and more hours. read more

Funny how Colorado has these kind of low quality incredibly high priced restaurants but I have to say Denver is not a city known for its food, but maybe with all the implants coming from LA County and ruining this beautiful city we will see something good come from it. Prime Rib $30 and looks and tastes worse than a Sams Club cut, and it came to us cold. They attempted to make it right but my food was already done so we took photos instead. I'm aware fat is typical of the experience but look at the volume there. 3/10 Artichoke Dip Very good and surprisingly there is enough chips to finish this off. Had better, but this is a solid investment for Mountain pricing. 6.5/10 Spicy filipino Adobo Sandwich The Sandwich was flooded with a Nashville hot experience but was poorly balanced. It looked amazing but was just hot and I couldn't finish it, and a woman sitting next to us said it tasted nothing like anything she ever ate growing up. It just tasted like the 1 chip challenge and screamed of chemicals. .5/10 I highly advise running away from this restaurant. The staff is nice, but you can be nice and be bad at making food. This place has become an irregular sunday breakfast spot when neither of us want to cook or go into Nederland, CO (The same drive time in the opposite direction) to risk botulism and/ disappointment. It's totally fine/ OK food that (thus far) hasn't really disappointed. We've got a groove for this: get our table reserved. Really the only reasonably priced sit-down place around. Plan to wait! 15 minutes to an hour for sure. Very limited capacity. They will take your number and will text you when your table is ready so you can go gamble for a few. Limited menu but there seems to be something on there for everyone. They open at 7am which I love because there isn't much in Blackhawk to choose from at that hour, so thank you. My food was above average and pretty reasonably priced. $12.00 for eggs benedict.
