Not giving a 1 star because: - They had a sign stating they were short staffed (although there were 4 employees and 1 manager). - Sandwich was acceptable; first time there, but not my preference. - Clearly inexperienced personnel; hopefully somewhat new. They deserve 1 star because: - Had water slowly dripping from roof, creating a puddle in front of chip rack. I notified them when I ordered, sounded like message was relayed to a manager, but was never taken care of the 20+ minutes I was there. Manager actually immediately left after I brought it up. Safety has to be +1. - Guy with medium length hair should be wearing a hat like all the ladies were. - I was second in line when I ordered, one person behind me. Five minutes went by until about a dozen people got in line and ordered. Four separate orders were placed after mine and 3 of those immediately got their food; clearly wasn't a call in or online order, yet their orders were slipped into the online rack ahead of my order, and the one order ahead of mine. These people were +4, +5, +7, & +3 in line. +3 actually went up to ask for an update and they told him his sandwich had just been sitting there. He was pissed...which made me ask about mine. - Like I mentioned earlier, 20+ minutes for one medium sandwich with 3 people making sandwiches. No other online orders were picked up at this time, so they weren't making those. Management/Owner, you have to do better. There were at least a dozen of us there pretty disappointed with it all. Hopefully no one slips in that water and sues you. I've heard the commercials and they're professional and represent the company well, but the experience I had was poor and I will not return; to this location at least. read more

We reviewed this location for fire house, subs two weeks ago. We wanted to share that our order was not ready on arrival, in fact, it hadn't even been looked at. Those sandwiches were prepared based off of their standard, and all request on the order were ignored. We received an apology email from the manager. We were told to come back another time for complementary sandwiches, yada, yada yada. We came back again tonight, to pick up sandwiches we ordered yesterday. We had the same situation. The order wasn't ready. What we got was a series of excuses. Our experiences have been very disappointing and we will not be frequenting this location again. Every time Fire House is the choice to stop in all their severs are super kind and friendly but make sure your food is handled with care! When I arrived the doors were locked, and there was a sign on the door which I have attached to this review. So after I was private messaged by fellow Yelp-ers, at their behest, I decided to give Firehouse Subs yet ANOTHER shot. After my two previous visits, ordering the "Italian" as a "cold" sandwich, I decided maybe they just can't make a "cold" sub without serving chilled bread. So, this time I did not customize anything. Knowing I'd get the "hot" version, I ordered and said "just do it the way you guys regularly do it." So I got a small "Italian" ($6.29) and a small "Firehouse Hero" ($6.29) with a bottle of Dasani ($1.99). First the "Italian" with Genoa salami, pepperoni, and honey ham. Much better than last time. The way they prepared the bread was much more palatable than when I ordered the cold version. The slight crispiness of the bread and light flakiness of the crust made it seem much fresher than the "cold" version I had the last two visits. But I still felt I was eating mostly bread because they are very light on the meat (probably 2.5oz which would mean a regular sub would get about 5oz so I think I am probably fairly accurate). More on that in a minute. Next, onto the "Firehouse Hero." It was pretty good, not as tasty as the Italian, which benefited from more robust meats and Italian dressing. This sub has roast beef, smoked turkey breast, and Virginia honey ham. But I think in general that because these subs lack meat, it's hard to appreciate the three meats on this sandwich because ONE slice of this and ONE slice of that just kind of homogenizes into a nondescript taste. I would rather the price was raised just a tad in order to put more meat on there. Far from how they promote "Oversized portions of premium hand-sliced meat and cheese." Oversized is a serious reach. So, a bit of a rant here, because I know Firehouse Corporate is reading these reviews and responding to them. I am giving you all unsolicited input. When you order a sub "cold", as you promote on your menu, the bread has been not good. I don't know one person that orders a cold sub because they love their bread cold and dense, giving the bread a stale texture and feeling. They expect the bread to at least SEEM fresh. If I wanted a sandwich with cold bread I would just pull into a gas station or convenience store and go to the refrigerator case and pick one out. I think that's where the disconnect lies. If Firehouse lightly toasted the bread like they do on their hot subs, and then added the cold ingredients, I think their "cold" product would be 1000-times better. The ever so slight treatment of the bread is a HUGE difference. I would make that the standard operating procedure if I were the store owner or recommend that preparation method to customers when ordering the "cold" versions. BTW, the staff was very friendly. So GREAT JOB there. I'm giving them FOUR stars, but I really think they are a 3-star. I am giving 4-stars to counter my previous bad rating. Still not my favorite sub place but my aversion is gone. I went to fire house today for the time and let me say it was worst experience ever. There was a lady named jocylen who didn't where a mask. She looks like she doesn't care about the pandemic. This has been my favorite sub restaurant since I was 15 living in Charlotte NC (before Firehouse expanded). You can't go wrong. Hook and ladder is to die for. I don't know how they do it, but it's unlike any other sub I've had and otherworldly. The Italian, steamer, and beef and cheddar brisket are nearly as good. I came in to place an order Saturday afternoon. At this time there was one customer in the store. I walk up and place my order, even round up to donate and then my experience turns into a nightmare. I wait for my order and casually stand at the end where you pick up the food. Time continues to roll by. My friend who had been at Wendy's walks over to see what's taking so long. 15 minutes pass and that's when I approach the register and ask the person that took my order how much longer. There was at least 4 employees on the line. I see the cashier walk over to figure out what's going on. All of them look confused. They are talking amongst them selves at that point and disregarding me. There were 2 employees in particular that really upset me ( black hair with glasses and burgundy hair with winged eyeliner with pink eyeshadow on one eyelid). Black hair employee with glasses wanted to refuse to give me a refund. Which is absolutely ridiculous. I paid for food I never received. The burgundy hair employee was making faces behind her mask. Me and my friend could tell by the expressions of brows and her demeanor. While all the employees looked at each other dumbfounded , I asked for a refund or to remake my food. I said I don't really care what happened. Either one of These options would have worked for me. The Burgundy haired employee walks up to assist and questions me about my name / order. I realized that I had never gotten a receipt. After all that extra nonsense I got my refund. I asked for the Number to corporate which I never received but I did contact corporate. Now, take this review with a grain of salt, since I ordered a veggie sandwich and not a meat sandwich. But for you vegetarians or non-meat eaters just know that their 8" veggie sub is really just green peppers and onions. I mean, a pound of them. There were literally two small slices of tomatoes, four pieces of diced pickles and four banana peppers on a flimsy mattress of lettuce. Even subway dishes out more lettuce and they are extremely stingy these days. Problem with firehouse is that they're old school and still build their subs behind the counter, so if you take it togo odds are you'll feel short-changed. And at $8.99 for a MED VEGGIE sub...I expect LOTS of veggies. Even the cheese was minimal at best. I should be getting as much cheese as turkey or pastrami. I honestly couldn't even taste the cheese in several bites. Really what I was eating was a onion and pepper sandwich. If that's your thing, this place is 5 star. If not, steer clear or make sure you double and triple down in the veggies when you order. Thing is, I really like the taste of their bread, and the staff are great...it's just the corporate mandate of being chincy that irks me. At least at subway and jersey mikes and Quiznos you get to watch them as they make your Sammy--that way it's perfect every time. Same thing with most Jimmy Johns. Don't let Sandwich Regret get the best of you! Only you can prevent this from happened by being extremely detailed when you order--otherwise you'll be left with a mouthful of warm onions and peppers. Firehouse subs is so delicious and has outstanding customer service. Sure, the subs are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. The meat and cheese is hot, as well as perfectly toasted bread. All of the speciality subs are well made and taste great- especially the brisket sub. Make sure you check all the options to add to your sub to make it even better though. The employees here welcome you in and check on you at your table- unlike many of the "fast food" restaurants I have ever visited.
