Encino, California This is the very first location that I have been to. And I have been coming here on and off for the free birthday pastry. Recently I rejoined the Sip Club. I was in the area so I stopped by to get me some Iced Tea. The place wasn't busy so I was tended to promptly. The place is small but enough to accommodate customers. It has a patio dining facing the Ventura Blvd which is a nice addition. It is kind of elevated that makes it cool. You don't feel like you are eating the dust and fumes from the vehicles. For many reasons, I really like Panera bread and I frequent this particular location however, there is an ongoing issue that unfortunately is often overlooked. Whether it's the company short staffing this location or it's the management not paying attention, the tables are constantly dirty and the dining area is often left unattended and that leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth. I've heard customers openly complain about it to the front desk and it's only then when someone is dispatched to clean the tables. Otherwise, sometime when I revisit the cafe after a couple of hours for a refill, I notice the same mess still out there without anyone tending to it. Is fast food places like Chick-fil-A can keep their location in prestine condition, why can't Panera get this right? I hope they fix this because it's as if the dining area is always on their blind spot. read more

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with a recent experience at your location. I placed my order for pickup the day before, well before the store closed, with a scheduled pickup time of 7:40 AM today. I received a notification at 7:38 AM stating that my order was ready. However, upon arriving at the store, I did not receive my order until 7:57 AM. This delay was especially concerning, as I had an important meeting at 8:00 AM and was relying on the accuracy of your pickup system. What made the situation more frustrating was observing multiple employees engaged in personal conversations, openly complaining about early orders, instead of assisting their team in completing customer orders. I approached one of the employees several times to politely explain that I urgently needed my order due to my scheduled meeting. Rather than responding with professionalism, she rolled her eyes and stated that the order was being worked on, while muttering "rude" under her breath. This behavior was both inappropriate and unprofessional. When my order was finally ready, it was simply placed on the counter without any acknowledgment no apology, no courtesy, and no basic customer service. I find it unacceptable to be met with such dismissive and disrespectful behavior, particularly when the delay was not caused by me. This is not the first negative experience I've had at this location, which makes this situation even more concerning. I paid nearly $100 for this order and, in return, received poor service, unnecessary delays, and unprofessional conduct. This reflects poorly on your business and its standards. I am requesting that this matter be addressed seriously. The staff involved would benefit from additional training, and appropriate corrective action should be taken to prevent this from happening again. When did Panera Bread get so bad? Looked like a homeless shelter inside with people sitting around like they've been there all day on their phones watching videos drinking the same cup and getting free refills all day. Tables were partially cleaned but was hard to tell as most were damaged and chipped. On a side note, I ordered two cookies with my order and they only gave me one. I had to figure that out on my own and when I asked the guy said they're still baking. He disappeared and I preferred to finish up and leave asap and let them have an extra $2 versus spending more time in there. If you want to feel like you're in DTLA near the Greyhound station this is a must visit. Otherwise stay away. I'll never go back. read more

Another Panera location for me to try. Consistent experience from location to location. I really enjoy being able to go to a Panera in LA and a Panera in Ohio or anywhere and enjoy the same great food, same great service and comfortable surrounding. This location is right off Ventura Blvd. parking lot is in the rear, although it can get tight at times, but parking should be good. You can also park in the front on Ventura Blvd. if need be. Entrance in front and back as well. Their food, pastries, baked goods and fruit is fresh and have plenty of healthy options vs many casual sit down spots or fast food locations. I can feel good about visiting here for lunch or dinner and get a healthy meal anytime. I do recommend looking for deals, coupons, etc. as it can get pricey. Thankfully, they normally have promos, deals, coupons, etc. to help if you look for them. Also, I highly recommend joining the Sip Club, you pay a monthly or yearly fee to get unlimited drinks every two hours everyday, great deal. My go to is the Ranch Cobb salad with chicken, yum! While this is a nice location on the inside, I was a little disappointed in my experience here. The cashier however was super nice and professional! I went in for breakfast and got a bagel and cream cheese and a coffee. Their bagel selection is kind of limited, but they are decent bagels. I ordered my bagel to go and they gave it to me with the cream cheese on the side. I wish they put it on the bagel for you! I was also excited to get a cup of the hazelnut coffee. The coffee area was nice and organized, but the coffee wasn't hot. I asked someone behind the counter if I could get a fresh cup of the hazelnut coffee, and they poured me some from the fresh pot in the back. However, it still wasn't hot. The temperature was warm at best. I hadn't visited a Panera in a really long time, and I'm not in a big rush to go back. read more

Panera Bread has always been one of my favorite spots to eat since I first discovered them back when I worked foe the city - it was my daily lunch choice. I became even a bigger fan when I found out that instead of throwing away their daily freshly baked items, they donate it to organizations that feed the homeless communities. Now, I find out they also participate in the TooGoodToGo program (app) where they sell for a minimal fee surprise bags, in this case $5.49, again, instead of throwing away the items not purchased. I was pleasantly surprised with my bag. I was able to choose what I wanted from the bakery items. I chose all my favorites. Panera is at the top of my list. I also purchased dinner while I was there and had a half asian salad with chicken noodle soup, a bag of chips and baguettes with a large passion green tea (my favorite green tea on the planet). The customer service was top notch and the place was clean. They have meter parking in the front and parking in the rear. I will be back. read more

I went to Panera yesterday to get takeout. Haven't been there in years. A word of advice, do not get the black bean soup. It is basically a broth and black beans in it and there is no flavor and no thickness to the soup it is utterly tasteless. And the worst part was that a bowl cost $10.99. I had a $25 gift card and had to use it up. I wasn't up for buying any of their airplane lunch food so just used it to buy baked goods. I got a couple cinnamon rolls, and a bunch of cookies. It came to almost exactly $25 even. The counter staff are ok but largely preoccupied with their own lives I think, as they chat behind the counter and in the back area where they make the baked goods. It's like they are on auto-pilot. They just make the web/app orders as they come in, package them up, and that's it. They've got some cookies and scones and muffins out on display but not much of anything else. I noticed a bunch of bread in big plastic bags just sitting on the main counter, as if the place were a Wonder Bread retail shop (remember those?) or something similar. I remember the Paneras of 20+ years ago. My friend managed one. His bakers would come in VERY early in the morning ("Time to make the donuts!") and the place was bustling and brimming with hot coffee drinks and pastries and everybody loved it. Nowadays....the magic is totally gone. They do get customers, but the dining area is rather a ghost town and it's mostly just people picking up orders or coming in to grab a quick coffee or tea and a pastry to go. read more

The term Value has gone out of the window. Reluctantly, after getting outraged by Fat Sal's I went to Panera. At least I was respected as a customer, in contrast to @fatsals. I felt like having an Italian sub. For the older people, do you remember getting a nice crispy Italian roll, with Italian dressing loaded with salami, mortadella and provolone cheese garnished with shredded lettuce and tomato? Well either that memory in mind, I got on the inshore computer and saw a good looking sub. So I ordered it. What a disappointment. The only good fact about the sandwich was the bread. It was tasty. I could hardly taste the meat in the sandwich. It was more like Cuban Panini than an Italian sub. I remember when I had my chain of restaurants, we put five ounces of meat on our sandwiches. There has been a huge booger in the men's restroom for a week right on the wall next to the urinal. I know this because I came last week and was disgusted by it and it's still there this week. Smallest Panera location I ever been, even the parking lot was smaller, this one also sharing space with another business called Dry Bar. Ok, we were in the middle of Reseda for a morning appointment, hadn't eaten breakfast yet, and needed to drive to North Hollywood. I was in a car with 5 hangry people, including 3 kids, and I was one of them. So we were driving and looking for someplace that served breakfast and would be quick to eat. It was about 1130am, so we knew the regular places would be closed for breakfast already. We drove by this Panera and I totally thought we could get breakfast food there so we parked around the corner and walked back. I couldn't tell which driveway was the right one for the "parking in the back." No matter. We all walked up to the counter and I was salivating over all the different breakfast options displayed on the overhead menu. There was a staff member standing there waiting to take our order. She was super friendly and patient, even after we told her we might take a while to be ready, since we've never been there before and had 5 different people trying to figure it out. She smiled and said, "It's ok. I'll be here if you have any questions." Awesome. So we started discussing the breakfast options and then she informed us they were no longer serving breakfast. I'm not gonna lie, it took the wind out of my sails. Bummer. So we had to convince the kids it would be ok and we ordered several lunch options. Nobody in our party was happy about this, but the girl at the counter kept her smile and continued to provide great service to us. We ordered a Flatbread pizza, grilled cheese sandwich, Mac n cheese, bagel with cream cheese, 2 coffees for the adults and some fountain drinks for the kids. As I turned around to serve our coffee, I stood back and waited for the homeless guy to warm up his Hot Pockets in the microwave. When he left I tried to serve some hazelnut flavored coffee but only got 1 cupful and the dispenser was empty. I notified the girl at the cashier and she got to changing it right away. But as I didn't want to wait, I chose to serve some other light blend for myself. I prepared both cups with cream and sugar, and when I went to taste my light blend, it was cold. Deflated again, I didn't have to heart to wait for the new hazelnut, so I just went to sit down with my family and my cold coffee. Obviously I gave the warm cup to my wife because, well, I'm a good husband....but I digress. So we got buzzed when our order was ready, picked it up at the counter and sat back down to eat. The food was....well, meh. The grilled cheese sandwich had that super thick bread and the cheese was not melted thoroughly. The mac n cheese had that white cheddar cheese and shell pasta. Nobody really liked that one. The pizza was good but how can you mess that up? Also the artisan bread was amazing as well. A bagel is a bagel. When we were done, and we were walking back to our car, I felt like I had just eaten a bunch of bread and my stomach was stuffed. But not, like, in a good way. It was more of a way that felt like I was so hungry, I'll just eat a ton of bread to fill my stomach and basically, that's what we did. It did not leave the best impression. But I will say the service was great. I'm willing to give them another shot sometime but I'll be back earlier so I can enjoy the breakfast menu next time. read more

Hello Panera, I came in today during the lunch hour and I must say I was very impressed. The initial impression was indeed, impressive. The ambiance was calm and warming, my fellow patrons all appeared to be happy and comfortable, the staff was very welcoming and friendly, and the restrooms were very clean and well kept. I had the pleasure of speaking with the manager on duty, if I read his name tag correctly his name is Jeff. Jeff was very friendly, and hospitable. He had shared some recommendations based on my dietary restrictions and I ended up deciding on the Toasted Frontega Chicken sandwich. It was very delicious, hats off to the chef. I Hope whoever is in charge is aware of how greatly this team of employees work. I will definitely be back. The orange juice was cold crisp and satisfying as well. I placed an online order on their app. The delivery was on the early side. BUT it was missing one item. The app doesn't have a good way to report issues but I called the store and the staff was friendly and apologetic. Considering how often I frequent this location, it's probably about time to update my review. This Panera Bread is located off of Ventura Blvd between Petit Ave and Rubio Ave in Encino. There's a parking lot located in the back. In the rare event that it's full, there's ample street parking. Perhaps the reason why my fiancee and I prefer this location is because it's a bit less traveled than others. Mornings can get busy but nights are much less so. We normally get the You Pick 2 deal where you can mix and match sandwiches, salads, and soups. My go-to choice is the Chicken Chipotle Avocado Melt while hers is the Creamy Tomato Soup. This place is very clean, the food is good, and the staff is courteous. But I can't understand why they have a shelf designated for takeout and then force you to go to the counter and ask. And frankly, I would be embarrassed to call this a bowl of soup. This is more like a cup of soup... and they also offer a cup of soup! I've never seen a styrofoam take out shot glass!
