My brother stopped off there. I did not go there and got me cinnamon raisin and egg bagels. They were so fresh and so good already had some money just got home. They're one of a few places still has a cinnamon raisin bagel. I wish that more raisins, but it's still really good and also the one a few places that still have egg bagels and their egg bagels are really good. I highly recommend this place. My family have been eating there for many many years. My dad used to go to Van Nuys on Sunday morning to get the very fresh bagels and bring them home for bagels and cheese and lox. read more

What is in this turkey sandwich??? I don't know what it is, but I am in love with Western Bagel's turkey sandwich and I don't care who knows it! The turkey isn't dry at all it's actually so good. Also, if you are sleeping on Western Bagel's iced coffee, DON'T! I went to fill my cup up and saw that they were out of their regular iced coffee and only the vanilla was available. Usually I wouldn't go for vanilla, but I did and I loved it! Great flavor. Thinking about it now I want another one. This morning I went for breakfast and got a lox sandwich. Food and service usually good. I would ask one favor, and it really should not be a favor. If a coffee flavor runs out, and the store still is open for 2 to 3 hours, please make another pot. Not very hard to do, just a filter, grounds, push the button and off we go. I've even offered to buy 2 cups, so they have less chance of it being left over at closing time. Okay.. before my recent visit here, I was of the mind that a bagel spot is just a "bagel" spot! But my last visit here really gave me a completely different appreciation for bagels. Not only is Western Bagel one of the largest bagel suppliers in the entire country, but they are family owned and make 5000+ bagels in an hour! Super impressive!!! AND their bagels are just delicious! I got the egg-ala-bagel with turkey and garlic herb cream cheese on the Cinnamon Crunch bagel and when I say it wassss gooood it was gooooot! One of the best breakfast sandwhiches I've ever had. The encino/tarzana location still has a family, mom & pop style feel and though it's in a relatively new shopping plaza, it's easy to find and still has that family-vibe that makes you just feel the love that went into making these bagels. I visited this location recently and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience. The employee who helped me was very rude and made me feel unwelcome the entire time I was ordering. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and this interaction completely ruined the visit. The boy i don't remember his full name but something with a B was working the counter and was extremely rude during my visit. He spoke to me with a harsh tone, seemed annoyed that I was ordering, and made the interaction uncomfortable from start to finish. Customer service should never make someone feel unwelcome, and this behavior really stood out. On top of that, the food itself was not good and didn't seem fresh. I was honestly surprised given the reviews. I'm leaving this feedback in hopes that management takes it seriously and improves both the service and food quality, because right now I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

I am giving 5 stars because the bagels are truly excellent and I grew up with western bagel. Employees are good......But my issue is the cost!. Prices have doubled since the pandemic. The reason might because they are trying to transition to a deli, from a bagel shop. But $1.70 per regular bagel, or $2.70 per specialty bagel seems excessive if they are trying to remain the western bagel that we go in and order two dozen for a family brunch. A hygiene appt in my office before the pandemic cost 140 bagels....today that same hygiene appointment is about 80 bagels. We have increased our fees as everything around us has gone up, from salaries, to equipment, and supplies, and rent. But we have calculated our costs and have increased only by that much. Western Bagel should offer us an explanation. in the meantime, I put my family on a diet, and our brunches now only include one dozen. read more
