We had a big group, but ordered simply- mostly burgers. two people ordered the duck, and it was inedible. The burgers were ok, and some of them were made incorrectly. The worst was the service- our waitress walked away for 1/2 hour at a time and was super inattentive and dinner plus getting a correct check took almost 3 hours. The service was good-- our server was attentive and the appetizers and food came out quickly enough. We asked to not be seated near a TV but we got seated near a TV. Oh well! The food was delicious, but our steak entrees had maybe 2-3 oz of steak strips, or about as much as you'd expect to be added to the top of a salad, for $35. The rest of the tiny plate had mostly broccoli and a few potatoes. This is great if you're on a diet! However, we are not on diets, so it was disappointing. read more

I've been here a few times for drinks, apps, food, a family friend runs the place, so we like to stop in whenever we're home. Service is always terrific, food is great, and we always have a great time. We went here a couple of weeks ago for my sister's rehearsal dinner for her wedding. I wasn't sure how it was going to work, b/c it is a smaller restaurant, and I knew we were a group of about 30 or so. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the owner and bartenders, bellied up to the bar for cocktails and appetizers. Apps were homemade guacamole (incredible), fried shrimp rolls (no fillers, just shrimp wrapped in a pastry shell), topped w/ a wasabi sauce (again, amazing), crab cakes (delicious), teriyaki chicken skewers, roasted red pepper dip w/ warm pita, I can't remember what else. I felt like we were already at the wedding! I totally stuffed myself, and we hadn't even sat for dinner yet. We went into the room reserved for us to sit for dinner. The room was the perfect size for us, not too big, not too small. Little tables of 4 dotted the room, which was so much better than the standard rounds or a long big table, those can be confusing. People jumped tables all night, sitting and chatting with everyone. We were able to pick from a limited menu, for salad/soup, entree, and dessert. I had trout, which was so yummy. I don't normally order trout in restaurants, but I was happy with my choice. The boy had the ribs, which had been slow-cooking all day. They were AMAZING. I kept stealing them off his plate. I can't wait to go back for those alone! We had wine service all night as well, the owner chose those, I only know they were good, not the names. I really wasnt crazy about Firefly but unfortunately all of the restaurants that had great reviews closed at 3:00 until 5 and we had bad timing so we were stuck. If you're just looking for a meal, everything is decent, just nothing to rave about. The salad was fine, the burger was fine, and it was a nice comfortable place to sit with a lovely porch. We went here for my mom's birthday dinner and everything we had was amazing. Our server was so nice throughout the meal and even brought a small plate of cookies with a candle out at the end - hilariously, my mom was in the bathroom at the time, but the server stuck around and waited to present the birthday surprise). We got to sit outside on the front porch, which offers a nice view of a side street in Lenox center. My brother had his dog, and while it wasn't allowed on the porch, we tied him up right below, and the server brought him a bowl of water. With all the pedestrians passing by and giving him love, he was loving his dinner plans as well. I ordered the mussels - I love mussels, but I've never had such a unique flavor pairing, so I was a little hesitant at first. I'm glad I took the chance, because the Moroccan flavors added something special to the dish. Everyone else loved their food as well. The drinks were just as good. We got the blood orange martini & the prickly pear margarita as well as some of the local beers they offered on tap. All were great. It's so nice when a birthday meal goes well. read more

Don't read any other review but this one! I eat a lot, I travel a lot, I am not biased and I don't live in the area. This place is wonderful. I had the special of the evening, the salmon risotto with oyster mushrooms and a blanc sauce. My husband had the simple chicken sandwich with a salad and shallot vinaigrette dressing. Both were wonderfully prepared, service is excellent, indoor seating is comfortable, artsy... Outside seating is pleasant, breezy. Get the black out cake for dessert, decadent and delicious!! During a short winter getaway, we were the only ones on a Sunday evening for dinner. Our waitress was personable, attentive, and sweet which we appreciated. We took advantage of the $.50 cent wings (delicious! crispy and yummy buffalo sauce). He had fish and chips ("decent") and I went with a burger. The food was average but understandable with our average order choices. :) Also was sad to see they charged for each soda refill. $8 for diet coke?? Boo... Overall, nice decor, good service, decent food, no free refills. read more

With its modest-sized porch and green shingles, Firefly looks like Grandma Edith's summer home in the Berkshires. Inside, the eclectic art and orange "firefly" lighting are intended to induce a sense of warmth, but the staff's chilly attitude neutralizes any chance of lasting comfort. What does it mean when you remember the stinky service more than the food? Essentially, it means that a) the service was indeed deplorable and b) the food was just mediocre. Located in Lenox, the gourmet hub of the Berkshires, Firefly offers Spanish-influenced cuisine orchestrated by an innovative but still developing chef. A nine-item tapas menu sets the expectation for small plates reminiscent of indulgent Barcelona afternoons. But items such as edamame (soybeans), guacamole, and chicken wings with blue cheese inflict a little cultural schizophrenia. The more traditional tapas - marinated olives, artichoke hearts, and crostini with tapenade - do little justice for my own fond memories of pigging out on a warm afternoon in Spain. Luckily, the skillet seared crab cakes were some of the best I've ever had. The crabmeat was amazingly fresh and fleshy, and the coconut curry sauce was tasty without being overwhelming. For an entree, I had the crispy roasted half duckling in an orange ancho chili sauce that I wish had been more prominent. The duck was a little on the dry side though not too bad. I also tried the evening's dinner special, the tilapia, a flaky fish so unremarkable that I don't recall much about it. For dessert, I had a fantastic cappuccino-flavored creme brulee that convinced me either that the pastry chef's talent exceeds that of the head chef OR that there is only one chef and she should specialize in desserts. What riled me was that despite our large party of around 30 people, the wait staff behaved as though we were an inconvenience rather than a revenue opportunity. read more

There are a lot of very good restaurants in Lenox, and we have been putting off going to Firefly due to the less than stellar reviews from friends. Finally we figured we really need to try it ourselves. Well, not surprisingly it was less than stellar. Our salads were a simple mix of greens with non-memorable dressings. The trout was good, and cooked nicely; moist and flavorful We also ordered the baby back ribs which was a very small portion of ribs.. It was 5 very small (I mean VERY small) ribs with rather bland sides. The sauce was OK, but the ribs lacked any nice smoky flavor. Service was good and very friendly, but there are too many better choices to eat, many within walking distance. read more

Dinner for four adults at Firefly in Lenox. Perfect night for outdoor seating so we took advantage of that and sat on the porch. We enjoyed some wine with our appetizers (gambas al ajillo, fish tacos, goat cheese and summer squash flatbreadand) then settled in for the main courses. Diver scallops over risotto, lobster Cobb salads, and a hamburger. Food was served timely at correct temperatures. Flavor profiles were great, and all was enjoyed. Unfortunately no attempt at the dessert menu as ee were going to a concert, but it did look tasty. Main pros: fresh menu, convenient location, attentive staff, solid portions. Cons: small table for a four-top, but understandable given the porch setting (Interior tables appeared normal sized), Limited proteins on the entree menu. read more

Firefly has been under New ownership for about a year. My wife and I recently went there and had a very nice upscale dinner. But here's the problem: 70% of the diners there were having a burger. Our favorite 2 restaurants in Lenox are Alta and Bistro Zinc. We were hoping that Firefly would be more like them. There are plenty of restaurants in the Berkshires to have a burger and a beer, many of which I've gone to, but not enough restaurants to compete with the likes of the above mentioned two restaurants. We had the elk chops and duck breast at Firefly, and both were very good. I'm told the owner wants to offer options. But if I'm going to spend $150+, I'm not interested in a menu that also offers chicken wings and burgers. I don't go to Alta for that, I go to a pub. This doesn't make me an elitist, it makes me an intelligent consumer. Firefly doesn't know what kind of restaurant it wants to be. I'll probably go back, but not for awhile. read more

Came in after the recent remodel and while we really liked the server (Jeff), the food didn't match up with his great service. We had the pork belly gyros and sirloin. My steak was totally over-cooked and the pork belly was good, but the bread was completely soaked through and inedible almost from the start. read more

I would tell you the quality of food, however I cannot due to the fact that I never got to try it. We arrived at about 5:45, just me and one other person, on a Saturday evening. We were seated and were given waters rather quickly, we then waited at least 10 minutes before our waiter arrived at the table to ask us about drinks. By this time we already knew what we were going to order, so we put the order in. We only ordered wings, a burger, and a salad. We waited for these dishes until 7:20, when we decided that waiting an hour and a half for just our appetizer to come to the table was too much. In addition, we hadn't laid eyes on our waiter since the moment he took our order. We then stopped the hostess as she was walking by the table to inform her that we were going to leave and would pay for the lemonade we had gotten. The hostess had told us she would get our waiter, then we proceeded to wait a few more minutes for him to come over. When he got to the table, all he said was that he would get the check, no apology whatsoever. After five more minutes, the waiter came back and said that our food would be out soon and the house had actually decided to pay for the lemonade. But by this time we had already been sitting there for more than an hour and a half so we decided to leave. TL;DR: ordered a burger, wings, and a salad, waited for over an hour and a half, left without food or an apology (if you want to receive the food you ordered within two hours we recommend to go somewhere else) read more

We read the mixed reviews for Firefly on Yelp but decided to give it a try. The result was, well, mixed. [Extenuating circumstances note - this visit was at 5PM on the day after Christmas, so perhaps this is not catching them at their best.] First the positive - atmosphere is very nice, simple, clean. Service was OK, a little slow but not terrible. The menu included some interesting options but is not very extensive. My wife had the duck leg confit and it was well executed, nice presentation, and tasted good (not great but good). I went for the 'Thursday evening special' - Lobster roll with chips for $10! Sounds great....but... Now the downside - The lobster roll had to be the worst I have had in a long time. First, they attempted to toast the roll, as is proper for a good lobster roll, but they failed and it was burnt [See photo posted]. Perhaps their definition of the word 'toasted' does not match mine, but I call what they served 'burnt'. This is an epic fail that should have never been served but apparently neither the cook nor the server had any issue with presenting it to a customer. In addition, the quantity of lobster in this roll was very small, maybe 2 ounces. Finally, they put cubes of tomato on top - to me tomato has no place in a lobster roll - at least this was easily fixed by removing the tomato. The menu lists the lobster rolls at $23 so at $10 this would be a good deal. If I had received the same roll for $23 I would have made quite a stink about it. I never like the idea of a 'special' that is reduced in size from another standard item on the menu, but I sure hope this was the case for the lobster roll. I am cutting them some slack and giving them 3 stars based on the Holiday time frame. read more

The outside dining is very tight on a long narrow front porch. We started with chicken wings and guacamole with chips. The chicken wings were crisp, tasty and not too saucy. The right blend of spice and crunch. A small portion of guacamole in a side for dressing dish with lots of chips. The guacamole was tasty, lots of solid onion pieces. More than half of the chips were left after the guacamole was gone. I order a small appetizer for my meal because I wanted seafood and veggies. It was small. The burger my partner got was over done and not flavorful. My suggestion is the staff give better guidance to first time customers. Not sure if would go back or recommend. read more

This rating is BS. Because people are rating the wrong thing. Come for the cocktails and the live music on. Saturday. (And the truffle fries). The bartenders really know their stuff. An eccentric (and sure to satisfy) drink list, a friendly atmosphere, and the live music is reason enough to come. Fine, maybe the food isn't awesome. I have no idea. Well our second visit to Firefly we went on $5 burger night so it's packed. But our server was pretty bad. I ordered the burger, no cheese, no bun. I received a bun so I sent it back and received it again with cheese. So i just kept it and scraped off the cheese. My husband ordered bacon and didn't get bacon and he was charged for the bacon. My MIL ordered the chicken and got the burger. So every one of us experienced a mistake on our order. it's $5 so we had low expectations but this happened the first time we went to Firefly too. I don't know how a business can operate with sub-standard service. The decor is okay (weird stencils) and there are TV's at the bar but no sound. I don't know how this place is successful. The bite of lobster roll and the bite of linguine were much better. Our appetizers were okay. The pita and feta/pepper dip was tasty enough, nachos not so much. Didn't stay for dessert. Not dying to go back. Next time we're in Lenox we will go back to Zinc. read more

Hands down, it's one of the best restaurant/bars I've been to in a long time. Working in Lenox for the summer (from NYC) I'm hard pressed to find a better place to eat and hang out. The food is consistently fantastic. The staff is friendly and accommodating. While either waiting for a table or just want a place to hang out, the bar scene is easy and fun. The bartender Justin is very much on the ball and will keep you happily liberated. There are other bar/restaurants in Lenox, (I've been to them all). but if you're passing through and want some great food, in a nice atmosphere, you will not be disappointed in Firefly. read more

I can't even give this restaurant 1 star! We had dinner reservations for 7:00 last night. We were given a table immediately next to the stage where the live performers were starting at 8:00. That was the first problem. There were 2 large speakers next to the table. We couldn't hear our friends from across the table, even during the bands' warm up. When we expressed our concern to the lead singer, she said that this is nothing compared to what the music will be when we start playing. Next, it took almost an hour to get our appetizer. Then after almost another hour, we received our meals- 2 were cold, 1 was ok, and the last one was the wrong meal. After another 15-20 minutes, 2 hot meals were brought, and the correct meal was also brought to the table. We were given multiple excuses-a server had walked out, the kitchen was backed up, and the hot and cold servers from the kitchen were not aligned. Our server refused to come back to our table after some period of time. Even though they gave us our meals for free, it was one of the worst situations I've ever encountered in a restaurant, anywhere, ever! If you have the chance to go to Fireflys, don't do it. Go somewhere else. read more
