Stopped by for a late lunch after visiting Mass Moca with a party of 6 and no reservation and we were seated without a wait. The interior is welcoming and spacious with art pieces lining the walls making it a nice place to wind down. I got to try the roast beef sandwich and the fish and chips and both were fine/a bit underwhelming. Not sure what I was expecting for the roast beef sandwich but the beef was thickly sliced and kinda small compared to the amount of fries it came with. On the fries, I like crispy fries but these are borderline chips with how overcooked they were. The fried fish were fried well- light and crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside.

    Peekaboo, falafel!

Needed to fortify before going to Mass MOCA and found this pub. It was crowded, a good sign, and we got a table by the window. The service was fast nd friendly. Ordered the falafel plate, which came with a green salad. Falafel was strangely moist rather than crispy and salad was more or less naked. The pulled pork sandwich (with botled dressing) looked lonely on a large platter with homemade potato salad. $50 lunch for two is not a good value for sandwiches.

We enjoyed PUBLIC eat+drink so much on our first evening in the Berkshires we had to dine here again two days later, and perhaps again before we return home. Good fun crowd in attendance. Plus, PUBLIC was highly recommended by a few locals. Thank you. Upon entering you are warmly welcomed. Service is top notch, quick friendly, refreshingly thorough. Excellent Farm to Table fresh fare. I was very happy with my delicious dressed harvest salad topped with perfect medium rare pan-seared salmon "The chef prefers salmon cooked this way!". Thank you! Options are divided in sections +each prepared very well. Great "Pasture-Raised Grass-Fed" Burgers, Pei Mussels, Short Rib, Pork Loin, Many Veggie options, Flatbreads, Crème Brûlée, Flourless Chocolate Cake... + a robust selection of micro brew beers and variety of wines, white, red, rosé and bubbly.... Enjoy! All best wishes for 2024!!!! Thank you for reading.

An excellent gastropub in the Berkshires, Public is the ideal place for dinner after spending some hours exploring art at Mass MoCA My wife and I started with some libations, a glass of wine for her and a great cocktail for me. I loved my fantastic black garlic risotto with shrimp. Excellent service, too.

The first time I came here, I actually did not eat or drink anything. That's because as I perused through the menu, the restaurant lost power from a thunderstorm. So they basically could not serve food for an unknown period of time. I thanked them for being informative and kind and moved on to a different spot for the evening meal. I decided to return a second time. The wings (Buffalo and garlic parmesan) were well-fried and flavorful. The risotto had too much balsamic vinegar on top, and the rice tasted a little sweet (think rice pudding). Both were turnoffs for me, and felt fortunate that it wasn't my order. The buffalo mac n' cheese was quite good, with a large portion that made it satisfying. Service was friendly and kind throughout and the decor was okay, though a little dark inside (even when they had electricity). This is a decent choice for food and it is on a main road.

To its credit, there was ample variety within each course of the fixed-price-menu to satisfy vegetarians, vegans, and meat eaters. Everything was superb (little gem's ceasar salad, a scrumptious cauliflower main dish, asparagus, steak, tagliatelle emiliana, chocolate budino, lemon olive oil cake, French fries, olive mixture, braised beef, doughnuts, etc.). One feels very welcomed by the hostess, the wait staff is efficient and unobtrusive, and the restaurant avoids the sin of many restaurants these days: blaring and abrasive music. We had a little mishap with our main course in that one arrived much later than the others, and a guest's braised beef dish was a little on the cool side. The waitress (Amanda M.) was extremely gracious in handling and remedying these issues. Thank you, Amanda M. I highly recommend.

I had the New York strip with lobster. Unfortunately the steak was a bit dry and tough (I oredered it medium). I could barely cut the steak because the plate was so full. The hubby ordered the mussel puttanesca which he LOVED. The sauce was delicious and it was nice and hot. Apparently the heating system was not functioning. We ordered a bottled domestic beer and a specialty cocktail. My beer was opened and the entire neck overflowed into the coaster. Despite 2 ounces being spilled I was not offered a fresh beer. The wet bottled was not wiped down and with no napkins, drops fell with my first few sips. The specialty cosmo had a substitute vodka as the bar was out of the particular flavored vodka listed in the menu. Despite these initials concerns we ordered food. I asked the server about specials and she replied with two portions of prime rib. Later come to hear there was no prime rib due to the facility issue mentioned earlier. My friend seemed pleased with the French onion soup. My burger was lacking in flavor, the main topping, mushrooms, and overcooked. This was a surprising result as the server asked twice if I wanted medium pink. Hopefully the small steps of service ans food will warm up!
