Just a hint of the selection this place has to offer.

Went to this establishment today for the first time, and I must say that it was very very nice. Staff were nice and very attentive to our needs, and the pub was very relaxed feeling. I would definitely suggest it to anyone of my friends.

The food is good, and service is good but there is a hole in the ceiling over the bar register.

I stayed one night at the Renaissance because I was overnighting in Albany and it looked close to…read moreCity Beer Hall which looked good on Yelp. Well that's a confusing sentence. I walked the half block from my hotel room and saw the lighted sign on the building drawing be to City Beer Hall. The bar is old school wood, long tables, and people generally having a good time. I was alone so chose the bar for sitting because that is more convenient for me and the wait staff. The beer menu was long with a few regionals new to me. Too many sours though for my taste, but those are popular now. I am not going to talk about the beers available because those will surely change by the time you read this. I ordered a beer and checked out the food menu. There were some good looking items on the menu, I really wanted a good pizza after my earlier airport pizza debacle, but a whole pizza was too much for one guy. I discussed the food choices with my friendly bartender and settled on the chicken nuggets and a side of fries. The nuggets are hard breaded from thighs and pretty good. The fries were crispy, well seasoned, and overly abundant. Overall the meal was great! It was Thursday night and they had a trivia-like game that was related to Family Feud so I played that. Might have stayed a little later than I should have but the beer was good. I was looking at the beer refrigerator and saw Fiddlehead IPA and asked my bartender about it. He was not really keen on it but that is the best beer they had there, but that is one really good beer. Later I notice that was the beer they were giving you if you ordered the $8 beer and a shot, which is an excellent value! There was some kind of drama this night. There was a lady who first tried to order Jager Bombs for her table and the bartender told her sorry we don't do those so she ordered Tito's shots instead. Well this ended about how you would expect with her losing a credit card and blaming everyone in sight for her problems. The bartender and manager were S-tier professionals managing her and keeping the food and beer flowing to the rest of us. Guys, thank you for your service! If you are in downtown Albany and you are hungry or thirsty hit up the City Beer Hall.

The City Beer Hall fits the bill. Located on Howard Street, the City Beer Hall has the local hangout vibe for professionals in town like me and locals wanting a beer and a pizza and fun times. The building at one point housed the city's old telephone company, and now is a cool pizza bar joint with a speakeasy that wasn't open when I went. The large room that houses the bar and long communal tables with high ceilings and large windows is like a Biergarten that is works great for happy hours and evening hangouts. Pizza wise, I was pleased with their Hot Honey Pizza that balances sweet, savory, and spicy flavors between its delicious crust, pepperoni, creamy ricotta, tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh basil, and a lovely drizzle of hot honey. I enjoyed the pizza with a Ommegang Blueberry Falls that was a "Blueberry Kolsch" whose crisp and slightly sweet flavors balanced well against the spicy and savory I was noshing. The only downside was I found the service behind the bar to be a bit slow and distracting from conversations with other customers. I felt I was forgotten until I finally flagged for the check. But overall, the City Beer Hall was a solid experience highlighted by their hot honey pizza.

I come here every few years because I love German food, when I am in the mood. I've always liked it…read more... this time it was so-so. The food was a 3 star affair, at the most. Staff was 5 star. Atmosphere, 4 stars. The menu here is almost exactly same as the famous Student Prince restaurant in Springfield. Parking is much easier but I prefer the Student Prince's old school 1940's decor. The prices are similar ... high. 3 p.m. dinner only menu. Seriously?? The prices are double vs. lunch. Who eats dinner at 3 p.m. Those 10 minutes in between 2:50 pm and 3:00 pm cost me about $25 extra. The worst part of my meal ... Apple Strudel dessert. This isn't apple strudel. It's a weird thin-skinned apple pie with a lot of almost creamy chopped apple filling. The filling seems to contain cream of some sort and tasted a bit sour/spoiled. There is no satisfying crispiness or crunch ... it's a sloppy mess. Definitely recommend not getting this. Jager Schnitzel ... The brown gravy sauce with mushrooms was fantastic. However, there wasn't enough of it and the pork was dry and pounded way too thin, so it felt a little like eating a piece of cardboard with panko breading. Spaetzel ... Great. On the small side but perfectly buttered and tasted great. Red cabbage was also very good. Salad ... Came with the meal but I was charged $3 more for Roquefort cheese dressing. Wasn't told about the upcharge ... but the other options for dressing weren't very exciting. The Roquefort is a few crumbles of cheese mixed into sweet Russian dressing. Probably would just go with a regular dressing. The staff was great and the waitress was so perky and helpful. The host was extremely nice and accommodating. Nothing bad to say about the staff here ... they are probably the only reason I am giving 4 vs. 3 stars. The prices seem very high ... $19 for 2 sausages ... $26 for Schnitzel ... $14 - $19 for appetizers. $13 pretzel. It's all high quality stuff for sure. But, after tip, my bill was $60 for Schnitzel, a beer and a so-called Struedel. I guess that's kind of everywhere these days though. If you like German food, which is hard to find, they've been doing it for a long time. It's good ... but nothing amazing. The restaurant is clean ... staff is nice ... and menu is unique and authentic. Beer list is good and though $9 each, it comes in a tall glass ... 22 ounces?

"We invite you to have a taste of Germany, no passport required"-Munich Haus…read more A truly authentic German restaurant with loads of events at the restaurant, banquet hall, & outdoor biergarten featuring live music. Big place that takes up a entire corner in downtown Chicopee, MA. Three parking lots behind the restaurant. Offering lunch & dinner Sun-Thu 11:30am-9pm, Fri & Sat 11:30am-10pm. We visited here on Saturday evening April 18. 2026. This place was highly recommended by our friends from the German-american Club of Albany (NY). Half our party had been here many previous times & for the other half, it was our first time. This day they were hosting their annual wild game feast in the banquet hall. 50+ people attended this event. Munich Haus has 20 or so special events per year. Our party of six was here for dinner. Our server was the spunky Maria who made this a memorable dinner. We were here for their famous schnitzels. A hearty meal excellently prepared and served eight ways. Comes with soup or salad and choice of two sides (i.e. spaetzle, potato pancakes, sauerkraut, red cabbage, or chef's vegetable). Also you can get a schnitzel sampler of 3 varieties. WOW! Also offered are sauerbraten, rouladen, chicken Reisling, braised lamb shanks, a variety of wursts (sausages) and delicious dessets. It's simply WUNDERBAR! Many thanks again to Maria & the rest of the Munich Haus staff for a tasty & memorable dinner road trip "for a taste of Germany, no passport required." Somehow your draft prices feel high, and the beer is okay.. Somehow your food is good but the atmosphere feels a bit off (soiled and torn upholstery in booth seating, fruit flies everywhere, only one single bathroom on the first floor.) Somehow pricing seems odd when Belgium fries cost a dollar more than your shoe string fries, but I was charged $2 to swap shoe string fries for Belgium with my burger. And somehow the service is friendly but inattentive at the same time.. Idk Mill House, my most recent visit may have been my last but I wish you much prosperity. Signed, The Mocktail Madam

My steak was a little undercooked, but otherwise everything was excellent and we had a wonderful evening. One odd footnote: I ordered a bourbon with a large ice cube and discovered a $3 upcharge on the bill. I've been ordering bourbon and scotch at bars around the world for decades and can't recall encountering that before. I wasn't bothered by the $3 nearly as much as the surprise charge with zero disclosure. Nothing on the cocktail menu. Nothing from the waiter. No indication whatsoever that asking for a large rock carried an additional charge. Charge whatever you want, but tell the customer before adding it to the bill. When I mentioned it, they graciously removed the charge, and I had a very pleasant conversation with a manager who understood the point and agreed it should be disclosed going forward. That's exactly how good hospitality should work. Excellent restaurant, excellent experience, and absolutely somewhere I'd return.
