1 review 22 hours ago…read moreI love this dreamy place that is right out of a film set. The food and setting are peerless. What I don't like and never will get used to is the rude and snotty maitre d or host or reservationist or whoever handles the front end making a reservation. He is like the worst NYC hipster entitled "you are lucky to be spending your money here" hosts and waiters all rolled into one ridiculously surly middle aged teenager. I recently called to make a res and was told not only "not a chance" before I said dates, but was told a few times during the 3 minute call that "M'am if you haven't noticed, we are in the middle of a global pandemic." Really?! Even the best restaurant on the planet (and this ones close) doesn't warrant a shitty attitude. Not even during a global pandemic! Frankly I'm sick of this attitude and needed to get it off my chest. Sure, we are lucky to have an opportunity to eat there, but the restaurant is lucky to keep loyal customers. Not everyone is turned on by being treated like they're in Brooklyn at a coveted restaurant.

I ordered fish tacos for $24 which came out cold and literally had two pieces of fish with nothing else. I should've known better than to order tacos in Western mass! I sent that back and got a grain bowl and said which was as bland as bland could be. The charming decor and music of this place might be great if you're going for a show or drink, but the food is pretty awful. Which things have been worse is that I went very much out of my way to go here and was extremely disappointed.

New owners and a new menu this season - a good start, but many kinks yet to be worked out…read more A good basic "pub food" menu for a family-targeted sit-down restaurant at a ski mountain (bar appetizers, burgers, soup, salads, etc.), but it seems like there aren't quite enough servers to handle the volume of customers on a busy ski day, and the kitchen timing needs work. Our family of 8 skied a few days after Christmas, and after we ordered our lunch, the wait for our (very basic!) order was very long (at least 25-30 minutes). Then when the food finally started being delivered, it arrived in "shifts" so that half our group ended up finishing their lunches before the other half had even received their orders. (First the chili in bread bowls was delivered, then 5 minutes later the burger orders were delivered, then 5 minutes after that, the deep-fried items arrived, etc...) We understand that off-season staffing in the Berkshires is a challenge, but it was disappointing not to be able to share lunch with each other at the same time, and the slow-down in everyone being able to eat delayed our return to the slopes as we'd wished. The food was more than adequate for what it is, and the upstairs space & view of the mountain are beautiful as always, but the service needs work.

A simple side salad with an amazing house made dressing becomes a treat. The shrimp tacos are seasoned like no other and burst with flavor. The bibimbop--of which I'm no expert--is pleasing & surprisingly filling--just right for pre-theater dinner (Barrington Stage a block away). The mixed drinks (per my companions) are both original & delicious. The last night we were there the owner/bartender/chef was by herself yet service was friendly, personal and efficient. What else can you ask for?

I had the New York strip with lobster. Unfortunately the steak was a bit dry and tough (I oredered it medium). But the lobster was great, served in a little bowl already peeled with butter and ready to eat! It seems my meal may have been sitting for a while. Way too much mashed potatoes and green beans! I could barely cut the steak because the plate was so full. The hubby ordered the mussel puttanesca which he LOVED. The sauce was delicious and it was nice and hot. For dessert we had the brownie with chocolate ice-cream. Brownie was nice and warm. Server was friendly. Their bar has limited options so don't expect anything too fancy!

This is a very unique & special setting, a reservation is a must and they will call to cancel for inclement weather as there is no indoor alternative here. Staff is lovely( it was obvious though that there are many management hands in this venture). We were fortunate to catch David Reed here, who was amazing. There are 2 seatings , we arrived in time to grab a lakeside table, a small clearing that allows a nice lake & sunset view. Small but delicious & well executed menu.
