With its unique decor and comfy seats, 6 House Pub felt like stepping into grandma's house... in the nicest way possible. Swapping out the typical restaurant seating, we got cozy on arm chairs. She saw chicken parm on the menu and the choice was made. His eyes fell on the fettuccine Alfredo and he was sold. The chicken was fresh, the pasta was cooked to perfection, and the garlic bread was heavenly. We could not forget our starter - loaded potato skins - which was most certainly the odd man out in this scenario. Even still, they were delicious. The potato was seasoned just right with a generous amount of bacon bits and cheese adorning the pieces. All in all, if you're ever in the Williamstown, MA area, check them out.

What do you do when dinner is not ready? You have a drink! Well, in a nut shell, that's how we decided to spend an hour that we had available to us after attending a performance at the Williamstown Theater Festival and our dinner reservation at a local restaurant. But to complicate things further, the restaurant where dinner was planned would not be opening for an hour. Solution? Drink somewhere else. And that's how we ended up at The '6 House Pub, adjacent to the 1896 House Inn. It was a beautiful warm day so six of us got our drinks from the bartender and took them outside to their patio to enjoy. They had some interesting craft drafts among the eight taps, four of which I had never had or even heard of - Citradelic Tangerine IPA from New Belgium Brewing; Stony Creek Cranky IPA; UFO's Huckleberry Hefeweizen; and Collective Arts' Ransack the Universe IPA. They all had very artistic draft handles, but I decided to stay more local with the Berkshire Brewing's Drayman's Porter. My wife had a Rendezvous Martini with vodka, brandy, Grand Marnier, and Chambord. The bartender was welcoming and quick to serve us. We enjoyed our drinks, then drove across the street to our dinner location. The atmosphere inside the pub looked very Early-American-inviting and worth returning to for more grog and to try their vittles.

Here last night for the first time with friends. First let me say to ignore most reviews and experience your time there yourself. You would miss too much. Also not showing my dinner pix here on bottom of review, but the pictures are there under food. Don't miss them!! Our time there was perfect. Walked in (had 7pm reservations and within 2 minutes, our server KENNEDY was there. She was great. Very professional, personable, helpful with the menu selections, good sense of humor. We all enjoyed her. She was right on top of things. THANKS AGAIN KENNEDY! Appreciated all the "Splenda trips". LOL The WEDGE SALAD under the side salad page for $8 was great!!! It did feed the four of us. I had the LOBSTER RAVIOLI which trust me, was the BEST I ever had, and for only $23 under the DINNER SPECIALS page. The ravioli's were STUFFED with lobster. Never saw them busting. The peppers and lobster mix of sauce and veggies was incredible. I made the right choice. My wife had the Black Raspberry Chicken which once was their signature dish. VG! But a little on the sweet side. Another great dish. As was the Boston Baked Scrod. The Lobster Mac n' Cheese was also memorable. If no lobster ravioli, this is a great second choice. There wasn't any room for dessert. I posted pix and a picture of us. I am telling you, very generous portions at very reasonable prices!! Ignore the bad reviews. It was their experience, not yours. You'd miss the ambiance, the entrees and the while experience. And like us, if you're lucky you'll have KENNEDY serving you. She'd make sure you walk away happy! Ask for her by name. Enjoy!!

We stopped at the '6 House Pub on our way to a reading for the Williamstown Theatre Festival. I've been passing it on my way to Williamstown for years and we had about an hour for dinner. The service was very friendly, but very slow. There were about four other people in the entire restaurant when we arrived, so I was very surprised that it took 40 minutes for our food. When the food did finally arrive, though, it was delicious. I had a $23 steak salad, with the steak cooked to perfection and some surprisingly good ranch dressing (I'll be honest, I hate 90% of ranch dressings). My dining companion had a turkey burger that she said was the best turkey burger she's ever had. On food alone, I'd have given this five stars. Would I go back? Yes, if I were having a lazy day and didn't need to be anywhere after. I was hoping that this could be my go-to food stop en route to Williamstown, but the slow service (which I'm also seeing mentioned in other reviews, so I'm guessing it wasn't an off day where someone called out) will keep me from making it a regular thing.

We were quoted a 30 minute wait, got some beers and sat in their gorgeous courtyard. We waited an hour, no biggie....we were enjoying the atmosphere and the company. BONUS: they had a fire going outside! Nice touch! Once inside we ordered burgers and soup. We waited another hour, which seems unnecessary. I had the bison beget with jalapeno and pineapple. It was tasting and definitely filling. Prices were decent. They need to work on the efficiency. There are not many tables, so I see no reason for such a ling wait for burgers.

A Community Venue Changed…read more The Egremont Barn, now operating as Buttonball Barn, was once a cornerstone of local music and community gathering. Because of our long-standing connection to the space, my husband and I chose it for our wedding celebration, placing our deposit with the previous owners, who were professional and supportive throughout the process. After the property changed ownership, we still proceeded with our event in October. This celebration held particular significance, as my father was seriously ill at the time, and we were grateful he was able to attend. Unfortunately, our experience with the new ownership raised serious concerns about professionalism, transparency, and respect for both clients and staff. On the day of the event, the owner attempted to impose additional charges not outlined in our contract. This included a demand for a $500 fee for using a room to get ready--a space she had explicitly told me I could use earlier in the day, noting it was acceptable despite the building being under construction. While I was getting ready, she entered the room while my mother and a family friend were assisting me and removed a rug from beneath them, stating that I "wasn't supposed to use the room all day." I chose not to address this at the time in order to preserve the tone of the day. Throughout the event, the owner was also openly drinking at the open bar, which had been paid for by my father. As the night concluded, she insisted that I personally break down the entire venue either immediately or first thing the following morning--despite knowing I had family visiting--or I would be charged for a cleaning crew. This expectation had not been communicated beforehand and was not included in the contract. When I suggested discussing it the next day, she continued to press the issue and confronted my husband, who attempted to redirect the conversation. To avoid further escalation, my friends and I cleaned the venue that night--while I was still in my wedding dress. She later stated that she would retain space heaters I had purchased in exchange for waiving the disputed room fee. When I noted that none of these charges or arrangements were contractually agreed upon, she responded, "I'm expensive, and I'm not in the contract either, honey," in reference to her being casted on The Real Housewives of New York City. Additionally, her conduct toward long-standing staff members--many of whom had supported the venue for years--was concerning and contributed to an atmosphere that felt transactional rather than community-centered. Some of those staff members have since left the venue. What was most troubling was the timing and context. The attempts to extract additional money occurred at the end of a wedding celebration involving a seriously ill parent, placing unnecessary stress on a family during an already significant moment. The Egremont Barn once represented collaboration, music, and mutual respect. Under its current ownership, that spirit appears to have shifted toward aesthetics and revenue at the expense of community and care. I encourage readers to proceed with caution, ask detailed questions, and ensure all expectations are clearly documented in writing before booking events there.

Hubby reported his roast beef sandwich was great although the roast beef looked overcooked to me. What was dubious, however, were the French fries. The inside is charming and has that old wooden bar smell that I like. This would be a great place to grab a drink on a cold winter day. Very Scottish, lol. We were seated immediately for our 6:30 dinner reservation. We each ordered appetizers, which took nearly 45 minutes to arrive, even the cup of soup. Mozzarella sticks were nothing special, the cheddar tomato soup was really tasty. My mother in law loved the cock-a-leekie soup, and my father in law liked his scotch egg. It took another 20-25 minutes for our entrees to arrive. For a restaurant that closes at 8 pm, it was surprising at how long the food took to come out. They must have a very small kitchen. Everyone in our group liked their meal. My "loaded vegetarian baked potato" was just a full cup of sour cream and cheese on top of a potato with lukewarm broccoli on the side. A bit disappointing, with there were at least chives or seasoning. Basically nothing else vegetarian on the menu so this was what I was stuck with. Desserts were good, especially the sticky toffee pudding. I would call this place a step above average in the area, but service leaves a lot to be desired.
