I've been to The Log twice now, and let me tell you--it's quickly becoming my go-to pizza spot in Williamstown. The first time, I swung by for a quick pickup on my way home, and WOW. I got their New York-style pizza (yes, they do more than one kind of crust!), and it was love at first bite. The crust was golden perfection, the toppings were generous, and the cheese? Oh, the cheese! They pile it on like they know what your soul needs. No extra cheese necessary--it's already living its best life. The staff were super friendly and helpful, which just made the experience even better. My second trip was during the chaos of graduation weekend--The Log was packed to the rafters with students, families, and celebration energy. Even though it was slammed, I still managed to grab a pie. This time, the crust wasn't quite as crisp as my first visit, but honestly, with all that was going on, I'm impressed it came out as good as it did. The Log has plenty of seating, a cozy, woodsy vibe (it really does feel like a log cabin hideout), and most importantly, some of the best pizza around. During my time living in Williamstown, my friends and I lived off of the half off appetizers on Mondays. It was such a great deal, and there were so many great things to pick from! We all really loved the garlic knots, and the cinnamon roll knots! Their burgers are also awesome, and their calzones are huge! My favorite thing on their menu had to be their alfredo. It is exactly the perfect meal for a rainy day (and its one of the only pasta dishes in town) My friends and I also loved coming for trivia every Thursday, especially when Masa ran the event! It felt like the whole town got together every week, it was the most fun I've had in a long time. We also liked playing the board games supplied by the door if we came for drinks or snacks on other days of the week. Overall the place is so much fun, and just a really great place to gather. First time staying in Williamstown. Went to the Log for some wings and cocktails. First issue- only beer and wine license. Ok for us, but for those that don't drink Beer or wine, be forewarned. Real problem is that we ordered wings and nachos and 30 min later was advised that the printer mysteriously didn't print our order, but people that came in later than us were getting their food. Real problem - Bartender too absorbed with friends and failed to recognize that we didn't get our food. We just left at that point. So the one star is not for poor food, but ZERO service. Have no idea if the food is good or bad because we didn't t get any. read more

Some relatives and I had the most exquisite of lunches here today! I had a half salad for which I got to pick a green and 4 ingredients. After a thorough study of the menu, I chose curried cauliflower, apples, roasted beets and 'seasonal vegetables' which translated to asparagus. The plural there was a bit misleading I chose the basil pesto as a dressing and also added goat cheese for one additional dollar. This salad was everything I could have wished it to be. It had a vibrant freshness, every ingredient brought spectacular flavour and texture. The beets and cauliflower especially. Though it wasn't provided in plenty, the goat cheese is an addition I would recommend. It made everything creamy and therefore even more amazing. The half salad portion was really perfect, and if you were to choose grains instead of greens it would certainly be filling enough for a full meal. Our table of three also shared the mushroom truffle ricotta pizza. To live for. The distant lemon taste of the ricotta in combination with the rich taste of truffle oil and roasted mushrooms, and everything melting into a thin, crisp and golden crust. The smell of truffles and herbs that expanded across our table when this perfect pizza was placed on the table was dizzying in its splendor. Between our individual orders (my aunt had a half salad similar to mine and called it one of the best salads she'd ever eaten and my uncle's grilled cheese, which he added ham and tomato to, was just as extensively praised) and the pizza, we had a happy surplus of food-meaning that the leftover half of pizza is now in my possession!! All this incredible food was made even more enjoyable by the cozy lodge aesthetics that surrounded us. And the service was spot on. Our waitress was attentive and kind. She came by many times during the course of the meal to make sure everything was perfect, which it was. Though when I realized a few bites into my salad that the curried cauliflower was nowhere to be found, she was sincerely apologetic and brought some instantly. It did take a while for us to get our food, which seems to be a primary complaint here on yelp, but this meal was a social gathering for us so we didn't mind. For lunch we found the prices to be a great value, and I look forward to using the 30% student discount in the future. read more

While driving through the area last week, my husband and I decided to stop at The Log for a quick lunch a little on the later side. Neither of us were super hungry and were looking for a cozy spot in the Williamstown area! We were attended to very quickly by the hostess/cashier - She told us we could sit where we wanted and there were menus at the table if we wanted to go look them over and then come back up to order - if we didn't want to be standing there looking at the menu. I chose a Half Cobb Salad and my husband chose a Half House Salad and a slice of pizza. We sat in a half booth in the corner - there was a fountain drink station that had soda and silverware, etc. We didn't have to wait too long for our food to arrive, but we enjoyed looking around the restaurant while we waited - The Log is a very cool building with different mementos and clearly had some history to it. A cool college-town type place that I could see being a great study area or a place to gather with friends to just hang out without the space being overly college focused- there aren't too many restaurants with that kind of feel but it's always special to stumble across one. The Cobb Salad was excellent - the chicken on it was delicious and everything was fresh. The half salad was the perfect portion size for a late lunch and it was definitely thoroughly enjoyed! The House Salad my husband got was also tasty but we both agreed that the Cobb was a better choice. The pizza was also fairly good but not like life changing pizza. Overall a decent experience - if I lived in the area or went to college there, I would definitely be back again - they even had weekly trivia nights which seemed to fit perfectly with the environment! read more

I was so disappointed with the service. My friend and I came in and ordered the Log Nachos, the Log Burger, and boneless chicken wings. We waited for a good 15 minutes before our appetizer of nachos arrived, then another hour before we decided to ask for the check and the rest of our dinner to go. The waitstaff does not pay attention to the customers, and in fact actively avoided eye contact when we tried to wave them down. I had to walk over to the check out station to give them my receipt because I was afraid it would be another 30 minutes before they came back. It is fine for a pub, average, but needs service refinement. Obtained online reservation 1.5d prior. Showed up on time and were seated at a table right by the entrance when clearly there were more desirable locations and the place was deserted except for one other party. So we sat in foot-traffic and close to the front entrance where it was clearly colder. Asked if we wanted salads first, to which we answered yes, and entrees came a couple of minutes later when we were less than 1/2 through salads. Food was what you'd expect, burgers good, salads fresh enough. Great beer, wine and drink list. We will likely return as pickings are slim in Williamstown. But needs work. read more

After coming to town for my daughters basketball game and had driven 4.5 hours I needed to eat. Since I never had been in this area didn't feel comfortable driving around all night looking for food and The Log was right there. A Pizza place can't really make a bad pizza right? Well after trying to order two items off the menu I was told they no longer have them because of Covid. So I settled for a large pie and onion rings. I got the food to go. I got back to my room and opened the box to find a dried up, pizza that reassembled a piece of cardboard with a small spattering of sauce hardly any cheese and a lot of spices. We won't even describe the mushrooms. The onion rings were soggy and cold as if they had them sitting for a while. Threw out the entire dinner. It was that bad, and mind you I didn't eat in 8 hours and was starving. Seems like every college town has pizza places that serve poor quality pizza to exploit the kids. I would be unfair not to mention the excellent waitress and friendly staff. read more

The service here is horrible. I've been here three times (don't know why I came back after the first time), and the food took forever to come every single time. Two of those times, we waited 50 minutes for our food. One of the other times, there were three other tables filled and it still took over half an hour. I gave them two stars instead of one because some of their food is good. I like the burgers and some of the pizzas. Nothing amazing, though - only thing that makes it somewhat worth it is the 30% student discount. Salads are horrible. You fill out a form for the "virtual salad bar" but don't even get what you ordered...even though you literally filled out the form yourself. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I had one of the most awkwardly presented take out salads ever....but it was super delicious and I'm so glad I didn't judge it by the pizza box it came in. They have a virtual salad bar, so you check things off on a list and they go and make the salad for you. I was traveling for work and wanted to get take out so that I could go back to my room and work/eat. I saw some pictures on yelp of what looked like a delicious salad and opted to check this place out. I'm so glad that I did because the salad that I got was really great and was huge and filling. Stopped here for a quick bite after visiting the Clark Museum and totally enjoyed our simple fare of soup and sandwiches. The tomato bisque was especially delicious with just a little touch of spiciness and bits of fried croutons. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. While The Log offers great appetizers and light meals for reasonable prices (especially with the student discount), the service is a reoccurring issue amongst students. The primary complaint is the time it takes for the servers to even notice you after you've been initially seated. With no exaggeration, I've wanted on average 10 mins to be given a menu. Then another 10-20 mins goes by before the server returns to take my table's orders and give them to the kitchen. After 30 more mins, my table can begin to start expecting the arrival of our food. If this experience happened on The Log's busiest nights, it would be understandable but this is the service in general (and when there are several empty tables and numerous servers available). I really hope The Log reconsiders how they balance time and service because the food is delicious (especially the Korean chili wings and duck fat fries) but the service makes people hesitant to go. read more

Ate there with my wife and son in early January, 2016. No one seated us when we entered. We waited 10 minutes then went looking for someone. It was a Saturday evening at 5:15 pm. We found several people hanging around the bar area in the back and we asked the bartender if we could sit some where. She said sure. Anywhere we wanted. We sat in the main dining area about 35 feet from the bar. We could hear a couple of employees talking about the fact that they did not want to be the person to wait on tables that evening. After 20 more minutes someone finally came to take our orders. We got our food. It was pretty bad. It all was very institutional tasting and just not what we were expecting of a place that recently completed a multimillion dollar renovation. You would do better to try almost any other place in the area. What a disappointment. And-----EXPENSIVE !!!!! read more

After calling 5 times to no answer to place a takeout order, and having to ask three separate people for help once I got there, I opened the box to my "salad" that would barely pass for an appetizer. As far as I can tell, the only thing going for the Log is the ambient noise level and the 30% student discount. The food is truly mediocre: mac n cheese that looks like soup, milkshakes that are fully melted, "duck fat" fries that are flavorless and dry, and burgers that (while always cooked perfectly!) taste over-processed. It's not surprising when they choose Sysco over any of the great local food distributors in the area. Also, service is exceedingly slow even when the restaurant is not busy. It's worse for students, which is either caused by bias (a cross-industry thing) or it's because the student discount automatically decreases tips. A 20% tip on a $20 bill is less than one on a $30 bill. Maybe management should consider an automatic service charge for students if servers are responding to that. read more

This restaurant is uncomfortable, the food is just MC Donald fare, and the prices are exorbitant. The only good thing about this place is the wonderful remodeled building and the fantastic, colorful paintings and poignant College bits. I've had lunch at The Log twice this summer. I'm surprised by the poor reviews, because my experience was great both times. The menu is interesting, the food fresh and well presented, and the service attentive. We sat indoors one time and outside another, very comfortable either way. The Log is really worth checking out and we'll certainly visit again on future trips to Williamstown. read more
