I eat here a lot, and just had dinner with a large group this past week while out here for business. We come here often for several reasons: interesting food menu, with lots of tapas styled dishes (for when you do not want to eat too much); reasonable prices for the Lenox area; and a very good wine list that is affordable (many bottles under $40). This night I had the Caesar salad and braised short ribs. The salad was excellent and the short ribs were deadly. They were not as intense as I have made them or had elsewhere but for the price ($25) you got an ginormous piece. Another person in our party had the 15-oz steak - big and very good looking. He loved it. Others had the flank steak on salad. While I have seen many reviews for this place being all over the place, citing less than awesome food, I can say that after frequenting this joint for over 3 years, we have experienced nothing but consistency. The food won't rate 5 stars, but the service is friendly and excellent and as I mentioned above, the wine is reasonably priced. Try the McMurray Pinot, which I believe was about $28. read more

We have been here about 4 times. Each time is lovely. Once we sat out on the front porch-very nice. Inside one night (Burger night) was loud and busy but FANTASTIC food. The waitress was very friendly as well. I wish they would open for lunch or earlier for dinner. Sometimes, we wait in little Lenox just for them to open as we have to travel back to Albany before nightfall.. OVERALL: One of my favorite spots. read more

Wonderful experience! We sat on the porch on a perfect summer evening . Had corn on the cob, nachos, oysters, chicken skewer various salads, hot fudge sundae and Boston creme pie. Wine and beer selections were outstanding and service was excellent! Our waitress, Althea, was personable yet professional. I was very impressed with the service here at Firefly. Our waitress was really attentive and happily answered our questions about the menu. I'm only giving this place 3 stars however due to the average tasting food and outrageous prices. I must say that their cocktail selection is great- the best part about my meal was the ginger martini- and the candied ginger was a nice touch. Our first visit to Firefly and it wasn't very good. The food was served cold and we had to send it back. When the waitress brought it back to us we got the attitude of total annoyance. We came here for the music and to be with good friends. The venue is very intimate and charming with a nice dancefloor. The salads were pretty good, but the gazpacho was only ok. The band was wonderful: Samirah Evans and her handsome devils. The food and drinks were pretty expensive, but we did not pay for the entertainment, so all in all a good deal. The service here was probably the worst I've ever experienced. We would have left after waiting an hour without any food or drinks arriving ( they did offer us water a few times) but we stayed to see the band we had been watching set up. And they were worth it- great performance by the BTUs! I would recommend this place for those looking to enjoy great live music while drinking water. WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. Worst service possible!! I placed a takeout order at the bar at Firefly at 5 p.m. on a Friday afternoon at the end of July, and didn't think to check if my order had been filled correctly: it was only a veggie burger with two extras (caramelized onions and guacamole), so how could they screw it up? Only when I got to Tanglewood and took the food out of the bag did I discover that neither of the extras had been included, even though I'd been charged for them. What makes this even more inconceiveable is that there were no other customers in the restaurant at the time. How difficult could it have been to get this right? read more

Have drinks, eat elsewhere. Food prices outrageously high, even for Lenox, and our party of six was major disappointed by what was served I suspect the place is going down the tubes. I have never written a bad review for anything. Everyone has a bad night but this may have been one of my worst restaurant experiences ever. Food was less than ok and first plate of the main course came out 90 minutes before the last. We were not offered why sort of concession apart from Some frozen cannoli. I gave the manager the option of taking something off the bill or me not leaving a tip. They took something off and added gratuity to the bill. Pretty sneaky. The owner then lied about not being there! If you screw up its ok. Take responsibility and move on. One star is generous. Stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner with a friend after an afternoon at the Mount and sat in a booth in the bar. We both started with soup (gazpacho and the special of kale and chickpea) and shared the meatballs and flatbread. The service was fine, the food was fine, and the price was high. There weren't too many other choices in Lenox for a late lunch and we didn't leave disappointed. Overall it was fine, but I wouldn't stop here if other dinner options were open. read more

I must be honest, I too, had heard mixed reviews about Firefly, as we own a B&B in town and I like to hear our guests POV on the various restaurants in town. Well, while I'm glad for the busy season of summer and fall foliage, I am so happy to have a bit of down town an enjoy all of our local restaurants and let our guests know my own POV on various restaurants. I visited Firefly midweek, and it was busy at 2000, a good sign, it was also busy with locals and tourists, another good sign. I enjoyed the sleek décor of the main room and the cocktails, well, they were quite tasty. The perfect mixture of strength vs. flavor. I ordered the half chicken with leek and pear au jus, red mashed potatoes, and a local autumn veggie, I can't remember what it was, but it was cooked perfectly. Holy cow, their portions were ample and tasty. I plan to take the hubby back as well, as it would be fun for date night! I also appreciated that they participate in restaurant.com's gift certificate program, being that in this tight economy stretching one's dollar is a necessity, but enjoying some R&R is important too! They also have fun daily specials, that look good, so I think we might bring our 12 yr old boys on the nights they have wing specials, taco night or 1/2 burger/chicken sandwiches. Enjoy- read more

I been here before and the service and food was okay. Flat bread I ordered first time here was hard as cardboard and overpriced. I decided to give this place a second chance even though some locals talked somewhat???? It's Friday night and not much to do in this town and most people do for fun here seems to be drinking and eating. So my girlfriend and I sat at the bar ordered burgers and drinks. Then when the bill came, I offered to pay. Gave the bartender cash and for some weird reason he gave me back the left over cash but it was short of a couple dollars, I thought, that's strange. I did give him 20% tips which more than he actually deserved since he was busy chatting with his friends than paying attention to his customers. We have heard good things about the owner - alas, she was away when we visited. The service was slower than slow - despite the fact that we were one of about 3 tables occupied in the place. Our server apologized, but we could not figure our why she took so long to take our order. The wine was okay - glass was a little crusty on the outside. The fried broccoli came in a pasty flour and water mixture, the sauce was delicious and lemony. My pasta was described as something exotic, I can not remember which one, campanelli maybe? When it arrived, it was actually supermarket penne that then arrived swimming in a green oily sauce (arugula pesto) There were about 10 halved cherry tomatoes and -- no exaggeration - about 40 cloves of garlic! Also some gooey fresh mozzarella. My husband ordered the veggie burger - but they were out - so he ordered another selection, to be told that they were out of that also! Finally he ordered a BLT off the menu as nothing else on the menu appealed to him. It came with about 7 slices of bacon on a bun with a thin slice of tomato and one leaf of tired lettuce. If you like to drink, you may forgive the food - the bar crowd seemed pretty lively. We won't be going back any time soon. read more

BEWARE - I contacted the owner about the below who promised to refund a portion of my money, claimed to send a check which was never received and now has cut off contact Late last year I dined at Firefly. It was a special occasion and there were 8 of us in all. We were quite disappointed in the food and appalled by the service. As we waited an extraordinarily long time for our drinks to arrive, we ordered chips and salsa (Habanero Salsa) and were surprised by how few chips came with the $6.00 dish. After drinks finally arrived and we placed our order and the following was our experience: Mushroom and Barley Soup - Over salted Shrimp (Gambos con Ajo) - Terrible. The shrimp were served in a pan of oil that actually congealed as we sat and waited for our plates to be cleared (again a long wait) Butternut Squash Mac N' Cheese - Way too much sage. It was all you tasted. Grilled Bistro Steak - Very good Chargrilled Angus Burger (all 3 of them) - Absolutely dry and flavorless. Stale bun. No chargrilled flavor whatsoever. Grilled Pork Loin - "nothing special" Hot Fudge Sundae - Almost no hot fudge...really just vanilla ice cream with whipped cream Bouchon - Never got to taste it (see below) Okay....so the food was not the best, but what really was unacceptable was the service. We were trapped at your restaurant for over 2.5 hours. We had to track the waitress down to get a second set of drinks. I finally got up after waiting 30 minutes to pay the bill and to ask for our desserts to be boxed up so we could go. At some point we were told the other wait staff was "stuck in traffic," but we drove in from 30 minutes away without a bit of back up. I also simply cannot imagine that they would not have arrived at some point during our 2.5 hours in your establishment. The service was simply deplorable. Paying the bill was the final straw. The bill was all wrong including over charging for the prix fix menu by $6.00. We were also surprised the learn that we had been charged extra for pickles and jalapenos which the waitress offered us but failed to inform us was an up-charge - yes it was printed in the menu, but was presented verbally as included. Finally, I was informed that I was required to pay a 20% tip as we had a party of 8. To my knowledge, this is not published anywhere on the menu. Moreover, to charge the standard tip on service that was acknowledged to be substandard by the restaurant staff is absurd. I am happy to tip at even 25%, but not when I had to get up twice to track someone down for service or when being stuck in a restaurant for 2.5 hours. For what it is worth, there were at least 2 other nearby tables complaining about being mischarged and suffering through poor service. My advice - go elsewhere! read more

We had dinner at Firefly last night and it could not have been better. The Rainbow Trout was cooked perfectly and had an excellent taste. Our sirloin steak was also cooked as requester, a perfect rare. The locally sourced vegetables were just right. Our complements to the chef (cannot remember or find his name on-line) and his superb team. The hostess and waitresses were as accommodating as anyone could expect. Our server, Kaycie, was extremely friendly, sincere and most helpful, answering all our many questions with a smile on her face. Today, one really appreciates a great attitude. This is about the third time I have eaten here and there will be more. read more

We stumbled across this "gastropub" while exploring Lenox. I found the atmosphere kind of dark and thankfully I had a flashlight in my purse to peruse the menu. Our server Jeff was friendly and efficient. However, I found the menu kind of sparse and very expensive. $23 for Autumn Farfalle and $9.00 per glass for the house wine was a bit much, but hell, we are on a mini vaca and I don't mind splurging, except when the food is meh, at best. After reviewing lots of menus online, looking for one that met both vegetarian and carnivore sensibilities, I decided Firefly was a great fit. So I called and made reservations. Unfortunately, seemingly all of the other visitors to Tanglewood that weekend did as well. The staff at the restaurant was disorganized and clearly unable to handle the onslaught of diners. More than once we heard potential diners considering going to a different restaurant altogether. After (finally) being seated, we were greeted by a server who was clearly well-meaning but also clearly "in the weeds." It turns out that she was new to the business and even had to have help with basic wine service. Being in the business, I know that this can be intimidating for a new server. But the management should know the demands of a restaurant in a summer resort town ... The food was - good. I wanted it to be so much more. My appetizer vegetable plate was nice, but not exceptional. My entree - the "house made" veggie burger was fairly bland. I had added sautéed mushrooms and they more than overpowered the burger's flavor. Not great, but not bad. My partner got the Lobster Roll, which came out consisting of just lobster meat and tomato on a roll. He didn't dislike it - but thought the menu and/or server should have mentioned it was less of a traditional roll and more of a "deconstructed" sandwich. A LobRoll without mayo, celery, onions? Needs an asterisk at the very least. The restaurant was cozy and the service, once they got their feet under them, was very pleasant. Still, it felt like a restaurant in its infancy, which it is not. The only reason this restaurant got a 1 was because the food was pretty good, however the service was deplorable. Went there with 5 friends before a show. They picked the place, I would never have picked it based on its reviews. Our waiter did not come to our table of 6 for at least 15 minutes after we were seated. We told him we were trying to make a show at 7:30 and it was about 5:30 when we were seated. My friend and I ordered the pesto chicken. He (the waiter) said it is specially prepared and normally takes 30 minutes. We said that was OK, thinking it would be plenty of time. Another friend ordered a salad and the 3 others ordered burgers, each had a special request for their burger. After about 50 minutes waiting for he food, and no sign of our waiter, my friend got up to find him and asked what was going on. He said the food would be coming out soon, our food tickets were not first in line, there were orders before us. Well if he knew that, he should have told us, so we could change the chicken orders to something else as they had a specific cooking time PLUS now an additional wait since our orders did not go in when we though they did. After my friend spoke to the waiter, we waited about 20 more minutes for the food. Don't you know, all the burgers were incorrectly done. We told the waiter and he didn't say a word, in fact we never saw him again. He sent another waitress to the table. Nothing was done about the incorrectly cooked, served burgers, let alone the hour wait for our food. NO apology, nothing. The service is vile. The customer service was non existent. The food was good, but we will NEVER go there again and suggest you don't either. I have eaten at average to fine dining restaurants and have never been treated as poorly as this. I'm surprised by some of the criticisms given for this American bistro. I found service friendly, perhaps slow however but only so much as to allow for proper savoring. My trout almondine with saffron risotto and Brussel sprout sides was the finest trout fish I've tasted; rich, complex, and ideally cooked. The duck confit salad special I shared as an appetizer was balanced with mild goat cheese, acidic picked onion and sweet raisins- thoughtful and seasonally perfect. I was even pleased with the reasonable cost considering the food quality and portioning. I am hard pressed to find a reason not to return to Firefly. read more

We were here a few weeks ago to meet friends and Firefly surpassed all of our expectations. Delicious creative food served in a cozy environment with excellent service. The appetizers were phenomenal and included a fall wedge salad with roasted butternut squash, almonds, cranberries, bacon, blue cheese with a blue cheese dressing that was so good I recreated it for Thanksgiving. Excellent soups, flatbreads and lobster rolls. Lovely selection of desserts which we indulged in as well. Good selection of beers and wines by the glass. Can't wait to return again soon! read more

When I first moved to the area, this was one of the first restaurants I went to. I had read good reviews about it and was excited to try it. Honestly the only thing I liked about it was the nice decor and our friendly waitress. The food was very mediocre, yet incredibly overpriced, especially for such simple dishes, like nachos! Like many restaurants in the Berkshires you could tell that the quality of ingredients were good (local, organic), but the taste was very bland and the whopping bill we got at the end made it even worse. read more

Very good food and very good staff. I was there for a wedding rehearsal dinner and we had the place to ourselves. They catered to about 100 people and the place did an excellent job taking care of everyone. The bartenders knew how to make some decent drinks and they were really friendly as well. Firefly is my friend's and my go to for meeting for drinks. It's a fun casual restaurant with good drinks. The bartender Jordan is extremely accommodating and an all around nice guy. Wednesday nights are burger night so you get a cheaper price which is great. I do no recommend the chicken sandwich, I got it last summer and it was undercooked. Unfortunately I haven't been able to have chicken ever since that experience. read more

We went at 5.30pm for a pre Tanglewood dinner on July 4th. Despite telling the waiter that we had a show to get to and despite the fact that the restaurant was 1/2 empty the food took until close to 7 to get to us. Our waiter was missing in action and I had to get up twice to find service. I ordered the Cobb salad and with calamari to start. The calamari dish was tiny and just a few mouthfuls. However the lobster Cobb Salad ($32.00) was an exercise in how to ruin a perfectly good dish. The salad had all the right ingredients except for the dressing which was all vinegar. Had there been more time I would have sent it back. Firefly gets a 2 only because my wife's dish (salmon) was OK otherwise I would give the a 1 for ruining a perfectly good salad and for the slow service read more
