Our first encounter with On A Roll Cafe was on a quiet Sunday morning while starting the trip to Albany AIrport. Breakfast places in Pittsfield are nice, the food is good - but we were looking for a spot close to the hotel (Courtyard) and a healthy meal. The Cafe was open and we decided to try it. Mark had eggs and potatoes - I tried a granola and yogurt bowl and fresh fruit on top, and extra fruit (instead of a muffin) on the side. The food was fresh, delicious, and the service excellent. Other customers wandered in and ordered as well - the staff handled everyone kindly and professionally. It was a bit damp still - so outside seating seemed a bit risky, but the outdoor space in front of the Cafe entrance is positively lovely. There is a brook running alongside it, and multiple chairs and tables under the trees. A lovely spot for a meal. We will definitely visit the Cafe again, since we are in the area at least 3 times a year visiting family. Try it, you'll like it!!! read more

Have been there over the years. Went for breakfast with 3 other people. I have to say this was probably the best experience for breakfast I have had in a long time. Everything was perfectly prepared. Abundant food. Endless coffee. Our server was extremely attentive. We ate inside as outside was busy, but table was reserved and we sat immediately.The inside hasn't changed much, but everything else was excellent!! We got right in on a Saturday around 11am...it was snowy morning so that may have helped avoid a wait. This was one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. The service was so friendly and so efficient. Since my friends and I are doing "dry January" we order faux mimosas...which we made ourselves at the table...sparkling water and orange juice. We had coffee and teas (a good selection of teas!) The two best items we tried were the Full Stack Lemon Ricotta Pancakes & the Eggs Benedict with Avocado, Bacon & Brie Eggs Benedict. The pancakes were lemony and creamy and not too sweet. The Benedict was savory, the poached eggs were perfectly cooked (runny), and the English muffins were toasted to perfection. The avocado and bacon and Brie was so savory and creamy and in sync with the hollandaise sauce. SO GOOD! We also had the Sweet Potato Bacon Hash, which tasted delicious but the texture was a little mashed potato-like. I wished the potatoes had a bit more structure. The Corned Beef Hash (side) was not special, just basic corned beef hash. Large fruit plate was fresh with a great variety of fruit! I will come back again for sure! read more

Was staying at the hotel across the street with the hubby for the weekend and decided to give this place a try, If not for yelp I wouldn't have even known it was there. Instantly felt welcomed (bad experience, we had previously went to another local and werent served due to a few underlying issues, Im white hubby isnt - so we had lost hope for the area and were now anticipating that everywhere)!!! NOT HERE!!! Menu isnt giant, but had lots of options, OMG - Let me warn you, The chicken sausage (you get 2) is GIANT... Like the size of burgers, I wish they had told us how big because the hubby and I both got an order. Everything was really good, Lemon Ricotta pancakes were so subtle in all flavors yet really good, not over powering just delish. Visited April 2025. What a gem. We stopped in for breakfast and everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The yogurt bowl with granola and fresh fruit was bright and refreshing, loaded with strawberries, blueberries, melon, pineapple, and crunchy granola. The breakfast sandwich was hearty with perfectly toasted bread, fresh veggies, and a side of crispy roasted potatoes that hit the spot. And the pancakes... wow. This is a very good looking spot, located on a nice "strip" mall, it's clean and the staff was friendly , the service was a bit slow and they didn't really check to refill your coffee, the food was okay, we had the Breakfast BLT, I thought that the egg was the star of the dish, but the other flavors were overpowered by it. If you like eggs , than this is good for you, but I like to have nice mix of flavors. We also had the Breakfast Sandwich , no big deal, and the Omelet a la Carte, it was good. Feels like a local diner / cafe vibe. Staff were kind and seated us immediately at a nice booth! The frittata was on the special menu but was very underwhelming. Many excellent choices for breakfast or lunch. Our group of 4 chose 4 different items and they were all wonderful and delicious. We ate out on the deck and the ambiance was great. We had plenty of space in between tables and a nice view of the gardens and pond nearby. The waitstaff was efficient and friendly, too. Very impressed by this café!! We came here wanting to get a late breakfast however they stop their breakfast service at 11, so we tried their lunch menu and we were not disappointed at all! Our server was very kind and attentive. And the cafe had some really cool artwork and decor inside! The Caesar dressing in the chicken Caesar wrap was the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, our food was not that great- the smoked salmon was a bit too fishy, the corned beef hash was just ground up corned beef- no potatoes, spices or anything else - bland and not really a "hash". Came for a show at Tanglewood Saturday, had breakfast Sunday morning. They accommodated us moving our reservation up earlier an hour, treated us very well. Chef welcomed us, sat us, and checked on us. Egg sandwich was delicious, home fries were good. Nice little cafe, first time In the berkshires. Walked in with my lady they greeted us nicely very welcoming, very clean open space. The waiter was real nice, I asked between a burger and the buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich and he said the chicken BLT was real good and he did not lie! Went here upon recommendation from a teacher after doing a school visit to an area high school. Brought along a high school student who was visiting the school with me. We sat inside. I ordered the roasted vegetable salad with fried goat cheese. Very tasty! The cheese was a delicious interesting addition. However, I would have preferred more roasted vegetables. There were 4 large summer squash slices and a small roasted carrot and some roasted onions.. Would love to have seen some roasted beets, mushrooms or any root veggies. It was all on a very very large mound of lettuce that I could tell was very fresh. But after the veggies and cheese were quickly gone there was just a big bowl of lettuce to eat. My student had the fried chicken sandwich. He said it was very good, just a little messy. Haha-he had a suit on so he needed to be careful. Our server was great. I've eaten at this establishment quite a few times but never have I felt so overlooked as I did today. We left my wife's doctor appointment and my daughter, who is 13 and had never been there wanted breakfast. We have a little 9 week old Schnorkie and my daughter has her in her arms and also had her carrying crate with her. I went inside to ask for seating outside (because we had the dog) and a young lady said, "someone will be with you)... no one came. I stood there, the only person who didn't work there who was while 5 young women with burgundy shirts just looked at me, none of them saying anything. Next a guy with pajama pants came out, spoke to one of the girls and then went outside. He never spoke to me or even acknowledged me at all. Once he went outside, a server told me he was speaking to someone about a dog, which happened to be my wife and daughter. I went outside with them and he said that they don't allow dogs on the property because a few patrons had been bitten. I truly understand the need for caution but there is also a fine line of discretion between Caution and Common Sense. Other patrons were looking on and they too disagreed with the gentleman whom I assume is the owner/manager. We live in Berkshire County where everyone has a dog so this came as an utter shock. I feel like this place is somewhat a victim of their own success. It is still a great place to get some breakfast but it has become so popular that it is sometimes hard to get a table a good service. The outside tables are numerous but there are many bees in the area that can home in on your food especially if you have something sweet. Our recent visit was fine but we had the bees and the poached eggs were served in a bowl with quite a bit of water at the bottom. The pancakes with strawberries and granola had the ingredients baked in not spooned on top which we imagined they would be. They were only so-so. One word... "fabulous"! The place came highly recommended by a local so we gave it a shot. Boy was that a good call. When you pull in the cafés uniqueness jumps out at you. The staff is super friendly. On a nice day you can enjoy the nature of the surroundings while you dine outside. We were in the neighborhood again and we love this place for their food. I have to admit that the service wasn't the best this time. Short staffed and appears many new waitresses which resulted in long wait times. Honestly, the wait time was pretty bad but the hostess/manager? acknowledged it and was very apologetic and so were the wait staff. The food finally came and it was delicious! The lemon ricotta pancakes is why we come here, and it didn't disappoint. The BLT and the Avocado toast was also good (although she did forget the egg). I am sure there are many breakfast places but this one has a few items that are different and worth coming for. Terrific local breakfast joint...and everyone in town was there this morning! We were greeted promptly and waited the promised 5 minutes. Got a giant cup of coffee, with oat milk and a bit of cinnamon. I got eggs Benedict and my husband got the bacon sweet lory hash with scrambled eggs and a fruit plate.
