Nice small eatery with some fun staff. Chicken BLT was good...a tad dry...may need some aioli ..but the chicken was cooked perfect and the side of sweet potato wedges was a very nice touch. In this weird post-Covid time, a lot of the restaurants in the Berkshires are severely understaffed. Food is taking double (or longer) the time to come out if you are even allowed to sit inside the restaurant at all. I've gone to multiple restaurants that said they were open online only to have them be randomly closed at a busy time. I can confidently say that today's breakfast at On A Roll Cafe was the best experience I've had on my 2 week vacation. Our server (I didn't get his name but he was a guy and the only one there) was very attentive, kind, and professional. Our food came out in a timely manner, and everything was delicious. I should note that my son does not like sausage but he loved yours. This is a big first! If I had to dig for a negative the only thing would be that the chicken apple sausage wasn't available but no points lost here. We will definitely be back again! read more

One of the best brunches I've ever had. We stumbled upon this place bc the restaurant we planned to visit was closed. A small hiccup getting a table, but they sat us in the outdoor gazebo. The weather was post-storm perfect, not too hot, but sunny and we enjoyed the pond right behind our table. Service wasn't exactly fast but we were a large party around 9:30am with no reservation. NO LONGER DOG FRIENDLY! Apparently they had 2 incidents and have stopped allowing non service dogs due to liability. So sad. Due to the surprise of the new dog policy we had to make alternative plans. We decided to place a to-go order and sat at one of the picnic tables nearby to eat which worked OK. Unfortunately, while the service was fine the food quality seems to have taken a nosedive. My SO's veggie portabella burger was good, I was disappointed in my standard burger. It was cooked as requested - medium rare but was completely flavorless. The meat had the texture of ground beef that had been frozen too long and there was no detectable seasoning of any kind. I hate paying $14 for a burger to have it be worse than fastfood fare. DIsaapointing. Dropping a star. While we won't avoid On a Roll the new dog policy and mediocre food means we will no longer seek it out as a planned destination. read more

My family and I visited the Berkshire's for the first time and the little spot was across from our hotel. I had a spring green salad with salmon and a crab cake. Husband had the seared salmon with rice and spinach. Our daughter had a grill cheese and grilled chicken. The food was good and tasted fresh. With all the new requirements going they are doing all they can. Tables were spaced apart. Lots of outdoor seating as well as inside. If we ever come back this way from Boston again we will return. Friendly waitresses and the chef comes out and greets everyone one a nice touch I would say. Went back the next day for breakfast and it was another good experience. Took a little longer to be seated but it was busy and a Sunday. Worth the wait. They even accommodate my request for fresh hard boiled eggs for my daughter who is a picky eater. read more

This cafe, while tucked away in a rather unassuming building, is quite good and worth a visit. The eggs weren't seasoned well and just average, but everything else was exceptional. I particularly enjoyed the egg and sausage sandwich on sourdough bread and the lemon ricotta pancakes. The French toast was outstanding too. I would not come back here. The food itself was good, which is the only reason they get two stars, but the atmosphere and service was not the vibe. We went inside and they didn't acknowledge us and then two people asked what we needed and we asked to sit outside and they said to hold on. Then a man in food patterned pants with a goatee just told us to sit outside. They were out of what my coworker wanted but the waitress didn't offer any substitute, just kept looking at him. Then I got a quesadilla but they couldn't take the tomatoes off because they already premix it, which I understand but then I asked for the salsa because in my mind salsa is not tomatoes. And she brought out pico de gallo, which again, is not salsa. The waitress didn't come check on us, or refill our waters. But sort of had an attitude when I asked for hot sauce. THEN while we were sitting on the patio an older woman came out and sat down at a table for four. And the same man from inside came out l, asked her how many were in her party, and TOLD her to move to a table for two instead. So she said she couldn't get around very well as she had a cane. He got an attitude and physically scooted over the table she was sitting at. With her still sitting there. Didn't say anything else to her. Would not recommend this place to anyone. This place is popping! We came on Labor Day at 9AM and luckily got seated quickly but by 9:30-10 there was a line out the door. Pro Tip- make a reservation!!! If not, be prepared to wait! The food is DELISH! Highly recommend the eggs Benedict with pesto and balsamic and omelette. Even their toast and jam is delicious. Masks are mandatory inside, regardless of vaccination status. We were visiting for a quick weekend vacation. The establishment did their best to make the restaurant safe and practice precautions. The hostess ask us if we had reservations but we didn't. She then said we can make room for you. We thought great how nice. As others came into the restaurant they were not ask if they had a reservation. Being black and Latino that made me feel some kind of way. In addition we waited for for over 30 minutes for our food while others who came in after us were provided there food. Maybe it's what we ordered. I ordered an omelet and my husband blueberry pancakes. I'm giving it a 2 because our table wobbled so bad that the coffee kept spilling all over the place, and the length of time it took to cook our food. Our waitress was very nice and did apologize for the wait. We ended up taking the food to go. My husband was really upset as we had our day planned out. My omelet did taste good. My husband didn't like his blueberry pancakes but I thought they tasted good. read more

This is quickly becoming my go to lunch place in the Pittsfield-Lenox Area. It has a very interesting menu with enough variety that I have rarely been bored. The food is tasty and the service friendly. The salads are delicious. I particularly love the butternut squash and beet salad with little candied crushed notes. But, they have a roasted vegetables salad and a normal salad. Today, I shared the salad with my wife and we had shared the fantastic salmon sandwich. First of all, it contains a piece of grilled salmon. This is not a salmon Patty or burger or salmon salad. It is a hunk of salmon. It comes with tomato, bacon and aioli. Best of all, you can get it in gluten free bread. The bread was nutty and flavorful. Always ask about the daily frittata. They are usually interesting and tasty. I am told that the bean burrito it's also excellent. But I have not tasted it. I also need to give a shout out to the gluten free brownie on the dessert menu. I really enjoy coming here because I can always find something delicious too fit my mood. read more

What you will see here, which you won't likely see anywhere else around here, is an owner who cares. He manages the flow of customers coming in and going out and is always there to pitch in where needed. If something isn't right, he'll fix it. We mostly go for lunch, but occasionally for breakfast as well, and are always well fed and satisfied. It is a pleasure to see a business, particularly a restaurant that is so well run.
