The restaurant had several tables inside. They keep everything clean and organized but the menus were slightly sticky. Could be the fact that they serve beer. If there was a way to give this restaurant a 10 star review then I would...it's truly that good !! My wife and I own / operate 4 restaurants in Bristol, CT and though we don't ever mean too - we usually find ourselves more immersed in what's going on around us (watching the servers / buss staff, kitchen staff, etc) than actually enjoying ourselves over a meal. We became a part of the Fat Boys family through a mutual friend who has ties to both South Carolina & Connecticut. We were given a tour of the restaurant 1 week before they opened for business by the owner, Tiny Mastriani. He introduced us to Chef Brian and Chef Penny who run the Fat Boy kitchen and Troy who oversees the FOH duties. The restaurant is absolutely stunning, both inside and out. It has been decorated impeccably and I dare say that there is not a more comfortable venue to sit back and enjoy an amazing meal with an incredible cocktail / beer while listening to live music on their outdoor patio. The waitstaff is spot on (especially Abby) and their attention to detail makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. Their menu has the perfect balance of smoked / bbq favorites, sandwiches, salads and so much more. The oyster apps, boutique & smoked, are killer, as well as, their mac n' cheese, potato salad, cole slaw and my favorite - the picnic succotash salad. My experience at this place was incredibly disappointing. The entire establishment felt old, grimy, and neglected, with sticky surfaces and a layer of dust everywhere. The food was even worse. The rainbow cookie martini tasted like straight-up cherry cough syrup, the salmon was barely cooked, the corn on the cob was charred beyond recognition, and the mac and cheese was so watery it was almost inedible. To make matters worse, no one in my group enjoyed their food, and it was clear that the overall quality was far below average. I don't enjoy criticizing local businesses, but this place needs serious improvement. If they want to be more than a rundown bar where people drink beer and listen to music after they're already buzzed, they need to overhaul their kitchen and raise their standards. The fact that this place has decent reviews is baffling - maybe people aren't paying attention to the food because they're already too drunk to notice. read more

Jerry S. was our server and you could not have asked for a better person to be there for our first visit and we will ask for him every time we go back. His knowledge of the food menu and his true southern hospitality was a warm reminder of how service should be. The Brisket, smoked gouda cheese, and beans were outstanding.
