The decor was minimalistic and clean! I loved the variety of drinks offered and was really excited to try this place. The location has plenty of parking, though you may have to look around a bit or park a bit far depending on when you show up. The coffee shop itself doesn't have a lot of seating either. Seats inside were full and the few tables outside were also taken. My friend and I grabbed our drinks and found a spot nearby to sit and chill in the shopping center, so we were fine. Also, the workers were really sweet and welcoming! I ordered the egg coffee, being a huge fan of this drink when I get it at other places. To be fair, those places are Vietnamese coffee shops, which this place does not purport to be. While I acknowledge my standard was high as I was hoping for something that came close to my favorite order at these places, this didn't even meet my REGULAR standard of coffee. This tasted... bland. I didn't get a lot of sweetness, didn't get a lot of coffee flavor, didn't get any egg/rich creamy custardy flavor from the egg foam on top, nothing. It just tasted like... really weak coffee. And, at $7+, that's not great. Well, at no pricepoint is that great, but it's extra not great when you've spent so much. Sadly, this seems to be the trend with most of their coffee drinks. My friend ordered the banana pudding matcha and I did get to taste a sip of her drink. This was the better of the two drinks we got. The banana pudding cream on top was phenomenal! Drink cost around $7 with whole milk, there is an extra charge for oat. The drink was small in size, around a Starbucks tall. It is unknown if the drinks are customizable (change sweetness, amount of ice, add ins) since it was not featured anywhere on the menu. Double matcha was balanced and on the sweeter side. However, the menu is extensive! Although I enjoyed Febe, a better deal ($7 for large drink and oat milk) and a stronger matcha flavor would be at Tatys/Airoma. Great little coffee shop tucked off the 5 freeway, almost hidden in a maze of quiet neighborhoods. The place leans sweet, closer to a boba shop than a coffee bar, but that's part of its charm. I tried the strawberry matcha, the pandan latte with ube cream top, and the blue sparkling tea. All three were smooth, balanced, and dangerously easy to drink. Lines can be a bit long at FEBE and I probably wouldn't recommend it as a study spot due to the limited seating and often loud atmosphere, but the matcha here is to die for. I've had their double matcha latte multiple times (always half sweet) and there is always a perfect blend of cream and matcha, with just the right sweetness level for me. My parents always get their ube and strawberry matcha lattes at 0% sweet, and it still tastes great even without the added sweetness. Starting with the parking situation: The parking lot appears spacious but it's always packed. I think if you go early in the morning or way later afternoon it's ok. I loved the first two and wished parking wasn't so bad bc if it weren't, I'd probably spend so much money here. The baristas/cashiers are very friendly. There's about 3 tables outside and but much seating inside since it's really a booth feel that goes straight across and then a stool opposite the tables so it can seat maybe 6-7 comfortably. But it's probably only comfortable if you're sitting alone. People who come with a friend tend to sit outside. It's also in Irvine so there are some "older" Korean ladies who group there. There are food menu items like croissant sandwiches too. On top of that they have really good pastries which they offer to warm up for you. The service is always nice and friendly. It seems like this cafe is trying to ride on the coat tails of every viral coffee/matcha out there and make their own version of it...which can totally work if they do it well since they are centrally located for those of us who don't want to drive 20 minutes for a morning latte. I went to check this place out during their soft opening. The service was amazing but the drinks could use a A LOT of work. I ordered the pandan matcha and when I went to taste it, all I tasted was a bland pandan milk. I went to the counter and asked the worker and she said "due to the rising cost of matcha, they adjusted their recipe"...what? You're still in your soft opening! I suggested they reduce the amount of pandan in the drink then and she said it would then be too milky. I asked if I could change it to another drink because the pandan was way overpowering. She was happy to and I switched it to the double matcha to hopefully get a nice punch of matcha for my morning drink. (Also, let's normalize telling cafes if we don't like our $7 drinks...) While I was drinking my (smaller size) double matcha, the woman next to me received her Ube matcha latte and I noticed the matcha part of her latte was a deep green compared to mine! What? You can't call it a double matcha if you're going to split the matcha content between the latte and the foam! The inside is very small with limited seating, so it's not really the kind of place you'd go to study or hang out for a long time. The Double Matcha was mid -- we'd rate it around a 5/10. The Matcha Einspanner was better, closer to a 7/10. Still, neither really wowed us. It's definitely not the best matcha in Orange County, but if you're in the area and craving something matcha-based, it'll do the job. Febe is located in the same location where Baum used to be; however, for those of you who were a fan of Baum and sad that they're gone- you're in luck because the team is the same! The cafe has been completely redesigned and while its menu has been changed as well, I'd argue that it's better now as Febe!! The drink menu has been simplified- but it's definitely not boring! It features matcha and espresso drinks that have been widely popular amongst other cafes lately- including einspanners and a yummy banana pudding matcha. They use 4g of ceremonial grade matcha and you can really taste the quality :) They also still offer small bites- including cheesecakes, muffins, and croissants; however, I'm unsure if the cute soufflés that Baum offered are still available. Overall, I'm excited for Febe and glad that the team is the same. The owners are extremely kind and always offer the friendliest service- making you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in the door.
