We used to like going here because of the great menu and courteous service. However, most of our favorite menu items, including the pork schnitzel with spätzle entrée, have disappeared from the menu to be replaced with new age, weird, froufrou type junk. My Mother's Day meal experience Seated in a bad spot (with a reservation) and when requested another seat high school help was willing to let us walk out the door rather than accommodate out request. She advised me they the tables had been assigned ahead of time when I watched the hostess choose the table in front of me and tell her to seat us there. Absolutely the worst meal we have had in a long time. Eight of us, $200 bill and not one of us liked our meals. Braised chicken swimming in what looked like dirty bath water, spaghetti "special" was flavorless and $22. Toasted bread and tomato appetizer was a piece of burnt toast piled with raw veggies. Went to Farm Table for the first time last night (Tuesday). It was pretty crowded but we were seated quickly. The hostess had a booth cleared for us, which was nice of her. While the atmosphere was pleasant and cozy, the noise level was so loud we had to raise our voices for simple conversation across the table. Our waitress, Stephanie, was very nice and really cared about providing us with excellent service, which she certainly did. She was very attentive. We loved her! The meals were slow to arrive. One person had the roasted farm chicken with lemon potatoes and herbs, which was excellent but a bit pricey at $16. My friend had scallops from the "small plates" dishes and enjoyed them. I had the chicken and dumplings for $16. It was a relatively small, incredibly salty serving with dark meat chicken only and nothing green - disappointing on its face and more so given the price of the dish. To be honest I would rather have had homemade bisquick dumplings and white breast meat chicken. They need to inform diners of the type of meat to expect in this dish. This would not have been my selection had I known. Despite my disappointing dinner, I would definitely go back to try the garlic pommes frites and the charcuterie plate appétizers. I just had one if the best dinners out in years. Fresh local scallops over beets to start. Short ribs with greens, beans, and roasted red potatoes, and possibly the best fresh pecan pie I've had yet. This place is terrific! Everything was expertly prepared and plated. Service was prompt and attentive. Finally, the bill was modest considering the feast of all locally sourced foods. We have lived a stone's throw from this restaurant for over a year, but tried it for the first time just this week with a large group. We made our reservation online and when we arrived our table was ready and waiting. Vegetarian options were a bit sparse, my niece had the ratatouille and loved it. (She was expecting a spiral presentation like in the movie but this one was more of a stew. After she tasted it she got over her disappointment.) My husband and I ended up sharing the tomato salad and several appetizers. Most portion sizes are medium, but the flavors just explode in your mouth! Everything is just bursting with freshness and vibrancy. The dip trio was generously sized, so much so that I took some home. Our server kindly packaged each dip separately and even labeled them for me, that was a really nice touch. The ambiance is cool with the Edison bulbs, antique furniture pieces, and open counter where you can see into the kitchen. The scallops were pretty good but overall the food was just bland. The beef Wellington was executed well but the lentils were provincial and uninspired. I sent the she crab soup back because it was just watery. It was not taken off the bill. The brussel sprout and arugula salad is just arugula (the brussel sprouts were shaved and therefore invisible according to the waitress?) The lobster Mac and Cheese lacked a creamy texture. The pecan pie for dessert was fantastic but my wife says you couldn't cut the crust, but it seemed homemade. Basically we like our food rich and spiced/flavorful. If you do not like those things then this is for you. Also we sat for 10 minutes without being addressed initially negative 1 star. read more

My husband and I ate here on a Saturday night with friends and enjoyed everything we tried. On the Made to Share menu we had the mussels with chorizo and white wine broth. Served with crostini for soaking and dipping in the broth, the chorizo added just enough spice to make it an interesting and delicious version of mussels. We also had the flatbread with mushrooms, sausage, garlic, fontina, Gruyère and arugula. Didn't taste much of the sausage but there were plenty of mushrooms and the crust was crispy with a chewy bite. Dessert was a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie served in a small skillet with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Hot is the only way to eat chocolate chip cookies! We also enjoyed great service. Farm Table is one of my favorite restaurants. I love the food, the decor and the waitstaff. But, the last couple of times we've been there the hostess has not been very nice or welcoming. We went there last night and were seated at the table closest to the door. Every time someone went in or out the cold air hit us. I did not come prepared and was very cold, literally shivering. My husband asked if we could be moved but the hostess was very curt and short and told him there were no tables open. Shortly after, a table opened up but she did not move us. The table sat empty while I shivered through my meal. It was obvious to anyone that I was very cold. She walked by several times and just did not care. I honestly am not sure we will go back after this. That's very sad to me because as I said earlier, I love everything about the restaurant but for someone to be that cold and uncaring as to their guests comfort, I'm just not sure I can give them our business anymore. read more

We got the fig flatbread which was the perfect mix of favors, the smoked bacon Mac n cheese which was incredible, the meatballs with these amazing shitaki mushrooms, and the pork belly which melted in your mouth. Is it possible to give 1/2 star rating? My family and I went to eat at your establishment and were turned away. It was only 15 mins after opening and there was an entire open restaurant and the hostess was told by someone higher up (assuming the manager) that they wouldn't put two tables together to accommodate my family & that we could sit at two separate tables. We had 2 adults and 4 children. Which means my wife and I would have had to sit separately at the two different tables with our children. The restaurant is labeled as kid friendly but definitely isn't kid friendly. We are a same sex couple with a blended family through adoption with mixed races and it definitely felt like we just weren't welcomed there when the hostess had no issue sitting us and making accommodations but was quickly sent back and got the push back of not wanting to seat us. Way to go Farm Table. This was our first outing as a family in a year!!! read more

We were seated at a four top even though every booth was open (hate that! Come on you know people prefer booths). Food was good, a bit over priced for the area but you could tell was locally sourced so don't mind paying a little extra to help local farmers! Food took a LONG time as did drinks. And we always walk out (or roll ourselves out, as the case may be) satisfied and happy. The braised short rib is excellent, especially if you have a big appetite, and the portion size is fairly large. I had the shorts ribs with potatoes. It was so delicious. The meat was tender with a large portion that I could barely finish. It was placed on a large scattered bed of crushed potatoes. It soaked up the sauce from the ribs and made it incredible. My brother had the pork chops. It was rather large cut about inch and a half thick. It looked really good and he liked it. The sides were good but not the star. The restaraunt is well decorated inside but if you have a chance you should sit outside on a nice night. They have a good assortment of beer, wine and signature cocktails. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. She could answer any question or offer recommendations. She even gave us a sample of a side dish that was accidentally changed on our entree. You should give this restaraunt a try. Tried Farm Table for the first time on a Friday night. Made a reservation on their online system and we were sat immediately when we arrive. We got to sit in the section off from the main dining area that had a fireplace and was nice and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. Our server was amazing and explained the menu for us due to it being our first time. Everything was amazing from the bread, to our main entree. We got the soup of the day which was creamy tomato basil which was to die for. The pork chop entree was so yummy. The only thing negative I would have to say is the sides for our entree (black eyed peas with collards and sweet potato mash) were not very good. 5 stars overall! Would recommend!! read more

In Raleigh for business and did a Yelp search for farm to table restaurants and Farm Table was the obvious choice! It did not disappoint. I nearly licked my dinner plate clean it was so good! Started with the beet salad, which was yummy. The horseradish goat cheese added a unique flavor to it. Had the grouper as my entree - it was amazing!! Lots of fresh flavors and a good portion of veggies to accent the fish. Compliments to the chef! Love this place and will definitely be back if I'm in the area again! read more

Probably my favorite restaurant right now. I like to eat fresh and this place has their own garden so doesn't get much fresher. I'll admit, I've only had the salmon both times I've been but was pleased that they had a new rice dish to accompany the salmon. My dinner date had the bacon Mac and cheese and I've never tasted Mac and cheese so good. We had the pomme frites which were exceptionally good. They even accommodated the toddler in our party by bringing her some applesauce even though it's not on the menu. Will definitely be back. read more

The meal started with a fresh green salad, and a local cider that was on tap. Attractively plated, the schnitzel entrée was tender, crispy and flavorful. Accompanied by pickled vegetables and atop on a bed of spaetzle, the schnitzel was comparable to a German equivalent in the Old Country. The ambiance is, well, minimal. This is a noisy boisterous space with little intimacy. However, this is not too hard to block out given the quality and taste of the food, as well as the excellent service. Needed a place to meet a family member in Wake Forest and we found this place. So glad we did. The atmosphere was warm and inviting on a cold winter night. Our server went over the menu in great detail after learning it was our first time. We ordered the roasted chicken, fried chicken sliders, lamb chops, stuffed peppers and fries. And some good local beers served in mason jars. Everything was done very well. The chicken had perfectly browned crispy skin and the meat was done just right. The creamy bacon brussels sprouts were delicious. The other things I tried were the sliders, the collards, and the fries with garlic aioli--all excellent. We don't usually order dessert, but we wanted to visit longer and when our server offered chocolate bourbon pie and lavender creme brûlée among others, we had to try them. They were both simply presented, made with care, and vanished quickly. Kudos to the pastry chef. I need to make special mention of the service. Unfortunately, I can't remember our server's name, but I've come to appreciate older, more experienced servers. She never made us feel rushed, she knew the menu very well, she checked back when our drinks were low, she asked about the food. She was friendly, but not fake-friendly.
