We went here on a perfect mid 70's day...you know, one of those days you'll remember with nostalgia. The cafe was memorable and reminded me of a contemporary lake house cabin in the mountains. When you walk in, there's a bar area to order from. Quite impressively, this is also the space where they cook the food and make the drinks and I literally cannot fathom how they do it in such a limited space. However, they do a brilliant job! The food was very fresh and very tasty. I got something from the "features" on the menu (rotational items). My choice was the duck duck grits. DELICIOUS. And what a steal at $13! I also took a bite of my friend's Philly cheesesteak and that was great as well. Smoothies are also wonderful. I forgot to mention, it was quite busy when we got to the place. We ended up waiting around 20 minutes but it was worth it; Not only because the food was delicious, but also because the employees were great...and the food came out surprisingly fast! I highly recommend coming here on a nice day, soaking up the sun, and enjoying a wonderful brunch with friends. We'll definitely be back!

Yes. Lots of choices. The views are the best. Cool place to come grab a sandwich or a salad. You can sit back and watch people swim or fish. We went fishing. The pond is right there beside it.

I enjoyed a nice Father's Day lunch at the Farmhouse Cafe with my wife and mother-in-law. This place always has a good energy vide with good music, decent food, and fair prices. The staff is always courteous, the food is way above average, and you can feel why there is always a crowd here. I enjoyed the Smokehouse sandwich and Iced Mocha and my wife eats the chicken salad by the tub, lol! It's a real nice place with good energy. I highly recommend.

Stopped here for sunday brunch and was not disappointed! We got there around noon, before the lunch rush came in. All the inside tables were taken but they had plenty of outside seating. We originally sat outside but there were so many flies swarming our food immediately, so we went back inside for a table. We ordered the breakfast tacos and kitchen sink bagel sandwich. Both were delicious and super filling. I would definitely order the bagel sandwich again!

    The dipster. Eeee-yuck! Disgusting

Eeee-yuck!! I ordered the dipster and it was pretty disgusting. The presentation itself was nauseating. The meat had a jelly like consistency. The cheese was thick and just laid on the sandwich. A glob of barely caramelized onions sat on top. I didn't want to waste my money but I couldn't finish it. Absolutely disgusting.

This place has so much potential. The space is super cute. The food was just ok. Between the four of us we had the following: - BLTE and C: This was by far the best thing we had. Would def recommend. - Mango mint coconut French toast: Do not recommend. - Breakfast Burrito: Good, would get again. - Roast Beef Dipster: ok, would not get again. - Rise and Shine Smoothie: Icy and flavorless. Waste of $6. - 12oz can of overpriced warm beer because their taps were broken. Waste of $7. We waited in line 20-30 min to order, so I would not recommend 12pm on a Saturday. Once ordered, the food was ready in 10 min which was nice.

We sat outside since we had such a big group, but we really liked it. It is inside a neighborhood and you order at the counter and pick it up when they call your name. We got the French toast and the smokehouse sandwich. The French toast was delicious with the berry compote on top and the whipped cream. Our coffee's were a little sweet but after we mixed them the sweetness toned down.

Surprisingly good food. Cooked to order with what appears to be quality ingredients. We stopped herr by chance one Sunday for brunch. I'd known of the spot for a few years but never visited until recently. The food was filling. Prices were moderate. Service was prompt; after placing our order i made my way to the counter for pickup in about 20 minutes. There's ample indoor and outdoor seating. Looking forward to the next visit.

Omg, am I a reformed tapas lover? Or perhaps just a Proximo lover? I think... yes. We weren't super hungry, so we only ordered 5 plates total for the two of us, and we still left delicious food on the table. We sat at the bar, which overlooked the immaculately clean kitchen, and got to chat with the expo chef, Ben, who was conversational and personal but also left plenty of room for my date and me to feel private. Ryan, our waiter, recommended a fabulous albariño, which more than made up for not having cocktails on the menu. The biggest takeaway: the chef in charge was kind and communicative with all staff. It was truly a pleasure to watch this kitchen operate. If you leave the restaurant without trying the tuna ceviche, consider yourself unlucky. Holy smokes -- I would order 5 helpings of that every single time. We're out-of-towners but will be back, and we'll be telling our friends all about this lovely establishment. I will say that the booths are close together, so we could hear the conversations at tables behind and in front of us. It kept us entertained. We had: - the dates stuffed with pistachios and wrapped in bacon - the flounder - the steak with chimichuri - the olives - pan con tomate - potatoes bravas - tuna ceviche - crumble - cinnamon cake It was all very good. The best dishes were the potatoes bravas and the steak. Th rest was pretty mediocre. We had a broke of white Rioja--it went well with the food and was a good deal at $56.

It felt like the perfect introduction to one of our favorite restaurants. I booked a reservation ahead of time, and everything was ready for us upon arrival. When we walked in, the host stand was briefly unattended, but within moments someone appeared, confirmed our reservation, and escorted us to our table. While our seating wasn't my favorite in the dining room, I decided not to make a special request. Instead, we settled in and let the evening unfold. Our server, Peyton, immediately elevated the experience. She was kind, thoughtful, and enthusiastic about the menu. Rather than simply listing favorites, she described dishes as "the perfect balance" and "the perfect combination," making each recommendation feel intentional. Her guidance led us toward pairings of small plates and cocktails that complimented one another beautifully. The atmosphere did just as much storytelling as the menu. Our friends couldn't stop admiring the signature candles slowly melting down the walls, while the leather-bound drink menus sparked conversation before we had even placed our order. As dinner progressed, a summer rain began to fall outside, encouraging us to linger a little longer over another round of conversation. We ordered several dishes to share, and the cauliflower, brisket croquettes, and cheesecake dessert easily became the standouts of the evening. Each plate was thoughtfully prepared and ideal for passing around the table, exactly the kind of meal that encourages everyone to take "just one more bite." The only dish that didn't quite live up to previous visits was the Calabrian chicken wings. I've always enjoyed them here, but this time they leaned a bit overcooked, and the sauce seemed slightly different from what I remembered. It was a small disappointment in an otherwise consistently strong meal. By the end of the evening, our friends completely understood why Madre had become one of our go-to spots. Between the inviting atmosphere, attentive service, and thoughtfully executed menu, it remains a restaurant I wouldn't hesitate to recommend for a dinner with people you enjoy lingering over a meal with.

We dined at their lovely bar back in the first months of their opening, and it was good. We had met the general manager, Red, and were impressed with the flavors of our one appetizer, Calabrian Chicken, yet we never rushed back. Now, we feel compelled to return ASAP to enjoy these exceptional flavors, fabulous teamwork system of service, and a comfortable chic atmosphere. The place was happening at 5:45 pm on our recent dining night out with friends. Grateful to have a reservation we were seated at a very comfortable banquette type of seating. It felt like dining in a friend's home. Our server, William, is excellent at his job. Very efficient, great input on food choices, and quite personable. The meal started off with a burst of flavor as we enjoyed their fairly new offering of a ceviche called Eye of the Tiger that featured a sauce you can never get enough of. Wish their bread service was a bit more inspired, but the Le Farm bread did soak up some of the various sauces sent out from a very inspired kitchen team. Food runners help make certain the tapas come out fresh and hot when needed. They are a friendly group of hospitality workers who seem to genuinely enjoy their work and treat their guests with sincere appreciation. It all starts at the top, and GM Red is a personable and sound leader. We loved the Chef's pasta, our octopus dish was stellar, the Calabrian Chicken almost stole the show, but the unctuous flavors on the plate of the Seared Halloumi was hands down my favorite. I love how this culinary team can crank out such outstanding flavors table to table and patron to patron without missing a beat. The energy in the room must feed their souls & for that we are grateful. Lastly I wish to mention the thoughtfully curated wine list where my husband discovered a treasure of a wine from the Familia Torres brand. It was exquisite and paired perfectly with Madre's flavors. Our friend who frequent their bar often rave about their Mezcal margarita! Another visit. See you soon Madre familia!

Recently, we have found ourselves trying not to enjoy just our go-to favorites that are mainstays on the ever-evolving menu. We have been blown away by the flavors of the large plate option called Chicken Pimientos. Don't let the name throw you, because it's not super spicy, it just has a nice kick to it with delicious potatoes accompanying the very moist and flavorful chicken. The way the kitchen team at Barcelona handles the preparation of the eggplant caponata is impressive and very unique. Other favorites on the tapas section of the menu recently are stuffed piquillos, corn zucchini bunuelos (think fair food turned healthy!), Wagyu carpaccio, lamb kofta, and pulpo gallego. Remember that their tapas offerings rotate in and out, oftentimes based on the season and availability of fresh products. The wine offerings are unparalleled in the city of Raleigh, and when you visit for dinner on a Monday evening, every bottle is half-priced. Can't beat that for a way to jump-start your work week! We tend to sit at the bar on most visits as bartenders Kira and Cameron truly handle their bar with a welcoming vibe and impressive ease. The items were bursting with flavors. My favorites were the marcona almonds, the aged manchego, and the potatas bravas. The table bread and oil were also fresh and delicious. Good service in a surprisingly well decorated atmosphere, I would come back to Flour & Barrel for more Italian goodness! The Deets: I wanted to catch up with a friend over a weekday lunch and we scoped out Flour & Barrel in DTR to do just that. When entering in from the pretty nondescript exterior/entrance on the corner of North and Harrington Streets, it becomes a colorful well decorated bistro/bar type feeling inside which is welcoming. We were shown to our table next to one of the wide windows facing North St, I liked this table with lots of natural light and yes, I am a people watcher as well. The server took our drink orders and asked if we had any questions about the menu. The lunch menu is pretty succinct but well represented, offering focaccia sandwiches (sandos), small pastas (pasta handmade in-house), and salads. It also has a wine and craft beer selection also if needed. My friend went with the Chicken Parmesan Focaccia Sando (has pomodoro, mozzarella, and basil) with Kardashian Chopped Salad (made with romaine, salami, provolone, piquillo peppers, artichoke, and garbanzo) for a side while I chose the Radiatore small pasta selection. The Radiatore is described on the menu as "our version of carbonara but creamier / guanciale / egg" so naturally it caught my eye. I am usually pretty cut and dry about wanting carbonara to be the traditional type but since they stated upfront that this is their version, I was willing to give it a go. I am glad I did, as this pasta dish was great. The serving was the perfect size for lunch, plus I was able to add chicken to it as well. The sauce was creamy and delicious, going well with the al dente pasta. This meal was most satisfying and I would love to get this one again in the future. My friend really enjoyed the sando so much, he had originally planned to eat half and take the other half home...that didn't work out the way he planned as he devoured the whole sandwich there, it was that good. He also enjoyed the salad as well. Our server did well checking on us and making sure we had what we needed. I am so glad we decided to try out Flour & Barrel for lunch, it worked out perfectly and was a very enjoyable meal.
