I was recommended Fancy Nails to get a mani & pedi for a wedding. For $40, I was able to get a mani, pedi, eyebrow waxing and tip! CHEAP! I brought my own colors and they did a great job. My mani lasted for about a week and a half before it started to chip and I painted a OPI shatter polish over it for the paint to last longer. My pedi last about 2 weeks. They have great massage chairs while you get your pedi and their eyebrow waxing is quite and little pain. Everything took about 2 hours, which I was in no rush to go anywhere. The first time I went here 10 years ago, I had had only one set of nails that took 2 hours to put on (new student) so when they were done in half an hour I was impressed. That was my last time being fully impressed, but like an idiot, the LOW prices kept suckering me in. I too am WAY over the "do you want?" "do you like?" questions, it's annoying! They had a big upset many years back when one of their main ladies went across the street next to Super Taq. (that place was bad too). So I stopped with the nail process all together, I was tired of them popping off with extreme pain and lifting (I am a picker and lifting just was too much to handle!). The stuff they use to "dry" out your nails, in the nail polish bottle, was extremely uncomfortable for me (like take a tylenol for days pain!), so I just stopped. But I kept going for waxes, once again seduced by the low prices. Just overlooking the fact that they are using the same roller on everyone (ewww). So the last time I went, I was getting ready for my husband's 20th HS reunion that I was SUPER nervous about, the person (I say this because I think it's a guy, but he talks and dresses sort of like a woman and I've never caught his name so...) ripped a hole in my eyebrow and lip. He knew it too, because he was pressing on it, I however didn't until I got home and took a shower. NEVER AGAIN. I never give bad reviews - until now! If I can't give a positive review, I usually just say nothing. But, unless you have a favorite technician here who still treats you well, Don't waste your time going to Fancy Nails!! I'm sad to give this review as I was a faithful client of the previous owner for several years, every other Friday I had a standing appt and 1/x month pedicure in addition,and always very happy. After she sold, by 2016 the service and cleanliness and attitude really started slipping. We have moved from Gilroy area soon after that but only a few miles away - and there has been a lady here (previous owner's sister) who works only certain days but who my husband has always used for his pedicures. We set an appointment with her for today at 10 a.m. for his pedicure as we have a trip coming up - and when my husband walked in a little before10, they told him she wasn't there and wasn't coming in! When my husband reminded the person at the front that he had driven an hour for a scheduled appointment and asked why someone from salon didn't call him (as they have our number), all he got was a shrug and they walked away. When my husband came out he was obviously upset and said the worst thing is it just feels "gross" in the salon now. What a shame but we were reminded that it wasn't the first time crappy things had happened at Fancy Nails. Our daughter went in one time with me to see if she could get a pedicure, but decided not to ask and later told me it was "the most depressing and filthy" nail salon she had ever walked into! Thank heavens, the good news is we drove over to another nail salon that is handy and close to DMV. We had not heard about this other salon but found it has great reviews, and we tried it. It is GREAT!! My husband got a wonderful pedicure, loved the salon, cleanliness, friendliness and professionalism there . He said he is going to go to this new salon from now on as he found they are so good and seem to really care and pay attention to details. This feels like a blessing that the people at Fancy Nails treated my husband so rudely they forced us to find an alternative. But if you are new to the area and looking for a new home, you can do better almost anywhere than Fancy Nails on 10th St and I sincerely hope you find, from my location description the new salon we found (near DMV and Harbor Freight). read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I got my lip waxed here and the lady put a ton of wax and left the strip on too long, once she pulled i knew she had ripped my skin off. Instant burning and blood dripping. The first thing she said was "oh, not my fault.. you have chapped lip" WTF?!?! What kind of customer service is that? Blame the customer for your mistake? The first day my lip was swollen and red, couldn't go to work. The second day, same thing. Today it's dried up and looks like a burn (picture), once again, cannot go to work. I went to get my eyebrows waxed and when the woman waxed right at the beginning I felt pain obviously, but even afterwards I felt stinging and about 10 minutes later it turns out my eye lids were burned . I had to use Neosporin to heal them because they were scabbing. So just be aware this is a recurring issue here. On the bright side I did enjoy how my eyebrows turned out. Haven't been here in over a year. I used to love getting pedicures here. This place is disgusting! Omg, hoping that the health department pays them a visit after I call them tomorrow. 1st of all, they do NOT sterilize their tools (clippers, daggers etc). I paid for the pedicure, callouse removal & oil massage. The incompetent woman was way into her conversation with her coworker and didn't care that she kept rubbing the same spot on my shins that they went numb. Not a massage at all. She dug her cuticle clippers into my toes like she was working on a cadaver. My toe nails are 10 different lengths. I don't know what in the hell is wrong with the owner and workers but this place needs to be shut down. This was the very first nail salon I ever went to. My very first winter formal in 7th grade; I was 12 years old. I've been a loyal costumer over the course of the last 15 year. However, this last time I went in, will be the last. They quoted me 10 minutes till they could get to my request of a simple pedicure. Okay, sure no problem, I'm a reasonable person. So I sat in their lobby area and I I waited. 10, 15, 20... minutes passes. I'm ready to leave, when they usher me back into a pedicure chair. I preceded to sit there for an additional 20 minutes with cold water in the basin. I finally took my pruned feet out of the water and started to shake them off to dry them to leave. When, finally the gal came over and started in on my feet. And by start in, I really mean it.... She dug and clipped and pushed, cut, and trimmed so aggressively to get the pedicure over and done with quickly, that it's been three days and my toes are STILL so tender and sore. This review is for TONY. I've been going to Tony for over 5 years now to get my eyebrows waxed. Tony is one of the only people I trust with my eyebrows because I am very particular about them and don't like them too thin. Tony listens to exactly how I want them done and is very true to the shape. He's also done within ~5 minutes!! I've gotten my brows done by some of the other ladies at the salon when he is busy and they do a good job too. Also at $8 this is a very inexpensive, quick place to go for great brows. Would give 5 stars but I knocked one for the salon itself- not the fanciest place, could work on some of the interior design. Also just a note- doesn't accept Discover cards! read more

I came about a week ago for a pedicure & a full set. I asked for a chocolate brown color with a short square shape for my full set. After a week, 2 of my rhinestones that I paid extra for already came off and I haven't even been doing anything that would cause them to fall off. Looking at my nails I'm not sure why I paid so much. You can clearly see the nail polish that was put on previously peeking through ( I had to choose a different mail polish since the one I chose didn't look like the one on the sample nail). I didn't get the shape I wanted and there's even a bump on my thumb nail on my left hand. My pedicure was $35 and although the painting was good I don't feel like they did a good job. I came here because I heard that their pedicures were great but my feet still feel the same like before I came there. The nail tech I had just seemed very rushy and didn't seem to care how her work came out. Overall I'm just really unsatisfied. I spent $80 and it honestly just feels like a waste of money since now I see their products they use are not of good quality. I'm only giving this salon three stars only because I used to come here regularly a few years back and they did a good job. Tonight I asked for my acrylics to be removed and a manicure. The gentleman who was working on my nails didn't even file my nails to make them even or put another coat of color on so at least the color would be more apparent. Also I was left during my manicure so he could wax another customers eyebrows. I feel like I paid for a half ass job I could have done myself and I'm not impressed. Um, YES! They just remodeled the pedi side of the joint & put in tile & new pedicure chairs which now is made with individual plastic inserts...that the girls put in before your toes touch water. Which means....that you never have to 'share' a tub. You have a protectant layer.....think like the tubs plastic glove. They stick it in before & take it out & throw it away after. Whoo hoo! By far the worst Nail Salon! I went in prior to leaving the country for vacation. I needed both my eyebrows & nails done. Tony, who everyone seems to rave about treated me very badly. After giving him specific details as to wanted he totally did my eyebrows the opposite. As soon as he was done he handed me the mirror & one eyebrow was higher than the other & they were very noticeably uneven!! I told him that I didn't like them & asked him to fix them & he refused to, he insisted they were even. I went up to the counter to pay for my nails & said I wouldn't be paying for my eyebrows being that he refused to fix them & he became irate & began screaming at me, he then threw my money at me!!!! The staff did NOTHING! I was so numb by his behavior & was shocked that they didn't intervene. 1 customer walked out in the middle of her pedicure because of it as well. Tanya always does my nails perfectly and she is a bit of a perfectionist (which I am completely okay with). I've lived in Gilroy for 3 years and this has been my go-to nail salon. I've had my nails, Pedicure, and eyebrow waxing done here a million times. I experienced having my nails done by probably most of the staff there, I would prefer Tony if you want a full set. They also stay open until 7:30 (sometimes later if you come a few minutes before 7:30) which is perfect for someone who needs to go after 5pm, Only downside of this place is sometimes when they are busy they will still take more clients who want pedicures and have them sitting in the pedicure chair for a whole 25-30 minutes waiting for service, which is my only reason for 4 stars. read more

I come from Monterey and was im town and needed a quick fix for my nails. I walked and and it was a good experience until the man who did my nails, said that there was a customer he was waiting for and gave me 10 minutes to wait( I had no problem with that). He sat on the couch and open a bag of hot Cheetos and started eating them. After the time pass he finally got up and helped me WITHOUT washing his hands! Every break he would take would be to eat the hot Cheetos and then will go back to my nails with still not washing his hands! Then he didn't inform he that he couldn't do my design and that to come back around 4 for the lady and I got upset because why wouldn't you tell me that before I sat down!! The design was a v French tip and he didn't ask what color I wanted the nude and now I have a pink nude and a red tip. He didnt shape my nails correctly at all and never asked me what shape!
