The cookie came and when I opened the box I noticed right away that the cookie was cracked all the way through. Besides the crack the cookie looked great. Our nonprofit had a very high profile ceremony for a street sign unveiling, and this included guests like the Mayor of Detroit, and City Council Members. Not the best vendor experience I've had to deal with but this was an online ordering experience. Ordered 70 chocolate dipped cookies for wedding with customized messages on front and back. Received instructions from a guy on how to select option for messaging on the back. I execute based on guidance. Order received. Chocolate kinda melted in the bag. Some, not all, were a bit sloppy; like the guy who was melted from toxic waste from Robocop. There was no message on the back. Called to say wtf and Erin tells me I had to check a box that says $40 additional charge for message in back. The guy never told me that part. Tone from her suggests I screwed up. He asks if I want to redo it for $40. I said yes. Been a couple of days, haven't received confirmation email or anything. I call Erin and reference my replacement order. She says it's currently in production and to give it a couple days. No problem. Couple days. Nothing yet. I call and ask what the status was. She said it's done and being shipped. Awesome. Days later. Nothing. Call and ask what the status was. She says it'll be shipped and will arrive Friday. She will send delivery confirmation. It's Friday. I don't receive anything. No tracking email either. At this point I think she's lying as it's been 3 weeks since I called for the replacement order. I call Erin and ask about the order that never arrived. I'm on hold for 5 min. She comes back and says okay, it was never shipped because the guy in the back said I didn't want it for $40. WTF. 1. The guy provided terrible instructions and they make it seem like you ordered it wrong. 2. More than half the cookies look like a giant fortune cookie took a giant diarrhea dump. 3. A lot of lying going around. I never ordered fortune cookies from any other place but this experience has been terrible. On the flip side, they tasted good. Really good. I would like to hate them more but the cookies were really freaking good. Even the diarrhea looking ones. Based on other reviews, I don't think I sound unreasonable. I'm upset at myself for not having checked Yelp before ordering from this company (especially the filtered reviews) as other Yelp reviewers have had the same issues with customer service being non-responsive after reporting an issue. Poor quality control on the cookies that I received and poor customer service dealing with issues. I don't like writing bad reviews and have only written one other 1-star review before in the 8 years I've been on Yelp so I waited two weeks before writing this review while waiting for a response from the owner (still no reply) as I had requested a partial refund since I had no choice but to use some cookies. Also, prior to my email, the owner was prompt at responding to two emails regarding questions. I really liked this concept and was excited about giving out customized fortune cookies for my daughter's birthday party. I ordered 50 Traditional Vanilla Fortune Cookie. I needed 38 minimum as party favors for all the students in my daughter's class (the rest were going to be for staff and teachers) but only 31 were good enough to hand out as party favors. Many cookies looked like someone made them in a rush or as if a child or an amateur practicing to fold the cookies made them. They looked nothing like the beautiful cookies on the website. The company was nice enough to give 15 extra cookies but it didn't matter since 31 fortune cookies had problems such as being: = Poorly or unevenly folded = Black specks (in two bags) = Disfigured = Strange colors on cookie (a big green and white spot and a dark brown cookie) = Crushed or cracked (lots of crumbs in the "good" sealed cookie bags) = Plastic bag melted into cookie (this was only one of the cookie that was actually made well but because the bag was melted into the cookie, I couldn't use it) I didn't have enough "good" cookies for all the kids, teachers and staff so I just didn't give anything to staff and teachers and gave the remaining kids some of the poorly made cookies. The rest I was too embarrassed to give out and would have readily sent them back had I received a response. I took pictures of all the problem cookies right after I opened the box because I really was so disappointed in the quality control and emailed the pictures to the owner. Again, no response. This company does not have a customer satisfaction guarantee. I will try to end on a positive note. I saw giant fortune cookies online for this place and thought it would be a fantastic gift for my long-distance boyfriend. Especially since I read some pretty good reviews, too. So I ordered a giant dark chocolate covered fortune cookie covered with M&Ms on Tuesday and delivered it with the cheapest option (FedEx ground), since it should arrive fairly quickly between Indianapolis and Chicago. Just to ensure prompt arrival, I added a special note that said please make sure you send this as soon as possible, as my boyfriend is moving to Brazil next week! I noticed the sign for the business on the side of the building and thought I would check it out. After all, a name like Fancy Fortune Cookies has a certain appeal to it. Seemed like my lucky day! The business, located on 65th between Allisonville Rd and Binford, is clustered with a number of small businesses that use a common entrance, parking, and are grouped into a few buildings. This business has been around for about 30 years and makes fortune cookies for special occasions. The entrance was colorful and featured a lot of gift ideas for presenting fortune cookies. Once you walk into the center of the shop, there a small gift bags and sample bins of individually packaged cookies. There were plain and chocolate covered ones. There were flavored cookies in bright colors. On the wall was a price list for ordering cookies (minimum order of 50) if you want to personalize the messages and the assortment you need for your special event. If you are like me and are just looking to getting a package of a smaller quantity, they had plenty of options. The basic fortune cookies (multi colored/flavored) sell for $8 per dozen. The chocolate covered cookies go for $12 per dozen. I have sampled some of each and can tell you that the flavors are fantastic! Absolutely the worst customer service you can ever imagine. Made the order on the 7th of February. Requested the order to be expedited and found out the next morning through email that I was charged 42 dollars extra for a 2 day shipping. I called and requested for my order to be switched back to regular shipping. Which they did and they refunded me the extra shipping cost. After that I called on February 9th to check on my order and they claimed to have shipped it. I requested a tracking number for my order and the lady assured me that she will send it to me through email. Since I have not received the email, I kept calling everyday and no one answered my call. I even emailed them using the two following emails provided and there was no response. Yesterday February 19th, I called twice in the morning and no one responded. I decide to call from another number and they answered (what a coincidence). I spoke to the lady (it's always the same lady) and requested a tracking number again and this time she said that my order doesn't have a tracking number. I am so frustrated and mad. How can a package this special be delivered without care. Tracking only costs 4 dollars extra with USPS. If they didn't want to spend on it extra, notify me, I wouldn't have minded to pay those 4 dollars. Overall I am very disappointed. It's February 20 and I have not received my package. We had a brunch reception with pastries & muffins and we also had a candy bar so we didn't feel a formal dessert was necessary. When I saw the Groupon for FFC, lightening struck! Since our wedding colors were orange, blue and brown, we ordered the flavored cookies in orange, blueberry and chocolate. We also ordered coconut. For our "cake cutting," we ordered a giant cookie dipped in chocolate with fall-inspired colored sprinkles. The minimum number of cookies per custom order is 50. We ended up with 250 cookies and 105 guests, so there were a bunch leftover. My husband and I tried them before the wedding (and of course, we had our share after!) and they were delicious!! The blueberry tastes like blueberry waffles. Since we got custom fortunes, the cookies were all baked to order and they tasted fresh and delicious. The giant cookie was tasty, too! Just enough chocolate. My husband and I fed each other pieces and then our guests went to town on the remaining shards. Everything arrived in tip top condition. It also all arrived before my requested delivery date. When you place your order, they ask for a desired delivery date. The only minor issue I had was the custom fortune process. We had a quote from e.e. cummings on one and I typed it in exactly as I wanted it to print but they capitalized the letters. I should have specified in the Special Instructions section, but it might be helpful if they had a fortune proofing process before printing. I didn't have that big of a interaction with FFC, as I ordered my cookies online. I had no idea there was a company like this until I drove past taking my dog to daycare. I looked it up online and saw all the different flavor cookies and customization they offer and I was intrigued. I received a coupon for subscribing to their email list and ordered cookies as wedding favors. Unsure of the taste of the various flavors, I played it safe and ordered classic vanilla cookies but had them dipped in variety chocolate (milk, dark, white drizzle). I ordered them two months in advance so I did not have any issues with my order being delayed. They were ready for pick up on the day I designated and packaged in a box. If no one is sitting in the office, you have to call to get let in. There's not a buzzer or anything to get in. The owner did offer samples of all the various flavors when I picked up the cookies and I found them very interesting but I enjoy the classic vanilla ones the most. I ordered 20-30 extra cookies so I could have a few myself and the chocolate tasted great, but I did come across a few stale cookies. I hope the majority of them were not stale. The chocolate drizzle did help with that issue though. All in all, I think it's a very cool place, I noticed they do a lot of custom work (gift baskets, giant fortune cookies, personalized logos, company favors etc). How disappointing! I used FFC in 2011 for my wedding and was so pleased that when I found out we were expecting our first child in Feb I knew exactly how I wanted to tell everyone. I spent a little more for a gourmet flavor but I didn't mind because I knew they were worth it. I received my fortune cookies quickly and handed them out at family brunch to finally share the exciting news. Except 3 out of 10 I gave out did not have fortunes! A fortune cookie with no fortune?!? What?!? While most were excited my brother, step father and grandfather were very confused as to what the big deal was. Others had to share their fortunes to let them in on the news. Upon arriving home I went through the remainder: 13 (including the ones already given out) had no fortunes, 2 were wrapped poorly and unpresentable, and a handful more I couldn't tell one way or another; with so many fortunes already missing I wouldn't risk another confusing situation. I emailed Erin, who seems to be an involved CEO if you believe the website. I either needed replacements or a refund. No reply. I emailed in via their general inquiry page. No reply. I now don't trust correspondence over the phone in which I will have no proof so I wait and wait. Almost two months later I finally contacted my credit card company to file a dispute. I trusted FFC with a very special occasion and not only did they mishandle it, they couldn't even be bothered to fix it, apologize, or acknowledge me. Long story short, the order process was fantastic and contact with Erin was seamless but once the order was placed everything went downhill. The first order was essentially destroyed by FedEx but no tracking number was provided so when the promised delivery date passed, no information was still provided and it took a few attempts to get the vendor to respond. The vendor reprinted/rushed the reprint so that we would get it in time, however, the rushed printing compacted the situation. While we did receive the order, the printing on the boxes were off-center, some slanted and others were off all together. In addition to poor packaging, more of the boxes were smashed leaving the order inconsistent and unusable. After reaching out to Erin/vendor, I still haven't received any return communication to discuss/resolve. Unfortunately, I can't recommend vendors who have communication challenges. read more

They've bent over backwards to meet my price; their product is superior to my previous supplier in every way; and when they promise something, it's what they deliver. Moreover, almost none of the cookies arrive broken or cracked (maybe 1-2%), whereas with my previous supplier that was closer to 15-20%. They bake a sturdier cookie that holds up in the shipping process, and they pack everything securely and beautifully. No one else in America offers what these people do in terms of custom, flavored and classy fortune cookies. The flavored ones taste magnificent, the color is superb, and the quality of the fortune fonts/copy is exquisite. What a terrible experience I just had with FCC. I placed an order with FCC on 7/21. I kept checking the status to make sure I would have them in time for my event on 8/6. I requested a delivery date no later than 8/3. My order status was never updated their system, and as of 7/28 it still said processing. I emailed the company and did not receive a timely response so I had to order cookies from elsewhere to make sure I had something to give at my event. I asked to cancel my order, and again, my order still said processing. To my surprise, my cookies arrived on 7/29. I finally heard back today, 8/1, and was told they could not cancel my order because it had already been delivered. No kidding. When I remarked that it would be nice to have better customer service and communication and update your order system in a timely manner, I was told that they are "real people with families and lives".
