So now it has come full circle now I went to pick up my granddaughters birthday cake.. it reminded me the days when I would go to pick up her mom's birthday cake! Their cakes are gorgeous and super moist.. and this was completed in 24 hours you can't beat that! 2 stars. In a word: disappointing. I was in the mood for a delicious piece of wedding cake, so I popped in a grabbed a cupcake. Then, added on a sugar cookie on a whim. Neither was outstanding. Definitely did not live up to the hype. The cake was moist and had a perfect crumb, but lacked that almond flavor that is expected. The frosting was perfectly smooth and proportional to the cake, but was so sugary it made my teeth ache - literally! The sugar cookie was a nice size and had a good texture. It was right between soft baked and crispy. But lacked flavor. It was really bland. No lemony or vanilla notes were detected. None. It was dough and sugar. Customer service was great. Store was bright with good merchandising. Location is convenient. Parking is ample. I'm deeply saddened to learn that this bakery just doesn't get these two confections correct. But, I'll go back and try something else. I hope I can provide an updated review in the future. read more

I came in after being told by Kroger that a chocolate cake with white icing "isn't a thing." What? lol Taylor's had a huge selection of cakes of all different kinds, including the supposedly nonexistent chocolate cake with white icing. They also have adorable mini birthday cakes you can get to go! I opted for a single layer cake that was decorated with poinsettias. They offered to write a message on the cake for me and took it back and did it right away. My daughter LOVED her cake and we might have had some for breakfast today as well. This was the third stop on my personal donut challenge. I tried to stop in on Black Friday but it was closed that day :-(. They have various donuts there, it was almost too hard to resist the pecan roll, but I was craving a simple glazed donut along with some donut holes. The donuts are made at the 62nd street location and delivered to fishers store. The parking is ok at this location. The staff at the store is prompt and friendly. I bought my selections and almost started to eat in the car but resisted. I enjoyed the donut, but it wasn't as good as I had remembered. It didn't have that just made experience for me, even though it may have been made that morning. However, after I ate a few donut holes, none of that mattered. They are cake donut holes. The nice thing with them, you can buy a box and the ones you don't eat the first day are just as fresh and tasty the second day!!! read more

New restaurants and breweries have sprung up like freshly-bloomed flowers, and places like TopGolf draw the attention of Indy residents from all over town! Wow! Taylor's Bakery did an excellent job on our cakes. The cakes were beautiful to look at and yummy to our tummies! The flower theme on the reunion cake was full of happy colors which matched the happy family vibes we were all feeling. The cake was half white half chocolate--- everyone was happy. The next night we needed another cake--- a larger cake to feed 100 people. Taylor's Bakery did not disappoint. Beautiful and yummy! Service was 5 star! Stopped to pick up a plain white cake with white icing. while there also purchased an eclair and cream filled donut. The eclair was DRY, like dust and was bland. The cream filled donut had maybe a tablespoon of filling, also very bland. oh well, not why we came. Was exited for the cake, a bit pricey, almost $40 for a simple two layer cake. Cut it, looked good. Took first bite and was SOOOOO disappointed. had a VERY strong LEMON flavor. Why?! White cake should be vanilla flavored. Quality bakery! We love their baked goods. The first time I went in three years ago was based on the recommendation of a friend who is a great cook. I knew she would point me in the right direction. I have never had a bad or even so so item from Taylors. We've had the baklava, cookies, donuts, cupcakes, tortes, eclair, cream puff. Everything I've ever tried has been great. I usually visit in the afternoon, so it's not crowded and not on a weekend. The staff is friendly, courteous and their prices are in line with other bakeries. I just read a great article about how they have been in business for over 100 years! You don't continue to be successful unless you've got the right recipes and the right customer service. Taylor's got me with their deflate cake offer. As a tribute to Tom Brady, they offer a delicious football cake with chocolate frosting and your choice of white or chocolate cake. Unfortunately, some of the air has been let out of the football so it's a bit deflated. But they let some of the air out of the price, too, so you get it for $12 instead of $24. The promotion's totally attention grabbing for those of us disappointed Colts fans or really anyone who thinks Tom Brady's recent antics are worthy of a little derisive humor. Promotions and gimmicks aside, the cake was absolutely delicious! The cake itself was moist and just the right level between dense and fluffy and the frosting was very rich and lively. The staff were super helpful and more than willing to accommodate my same day cake order. Looking around at what else was available as I waited for them to box up my cake, I couldn't help but marvel at the level of aesthetic beauty this bakery brings to each of its confectionary creations. If you need a cake or just some sweet treats, I'd definitely put Taylor's on the short list of bakeries to try. Great service and great food in a very clean and inviting store. I was impressed with Taylor's Bakery. Not only do they offer a lot of cakes, but there are counters full of pastries, and displays with popcorn, house ice cream, and assorted other snacks. I didn't show up until nearly noon, and was impressed that there was still a nice selection of pastries to choose from. I picked up a crispy flat nutty one that I knew my wife would like (I just had to make it home without eating it so that she could enjoy it!) They also had some really large "alligator" pastries that were more than I wanted on my visit. But I did find some other items that were sized more for the individual. I picked out an apple Danish that had a nice balance of chew, sweetness, and tartness to make for a tasty treat. They also had mini-Danish which are rolled like a cinnamon roll instead of laying flat with a pool of jelly in the center. I picked up a few of these that only take a couple bites each: Strawberry and Pecan. I appreciated the easy parking in the lot in front of the place, though getting out of the lot onto 116th can be challenging. Taylor's is a family owned business that takes pride in their work. It's evident by the creativity and quality of everything they make. I was always familiar with their 62nd/Allisonville location that was close to home & easy access for weekend donut runs, but I've grown to love them having consumed their cakes on a regular basis as our 'preferred' bakery at work from their 116th/Fishers location. A few days ago I needed to grab a cake for an impromptu birthday celebration and was able to call the same day and have it decorated and ready for pick up within hours. Upon arrival, I was greeted with windows full of festive harvest, fall and Halloween decorated cakes that would be perfect for any party. Considering the Frankenstein cake may not go over well, I stuck to the chocolate on chocolate 1/2 sheet. It was beautifully decorated with sunflowers and piped in orange, but better yet - everyone RAVED about how delicious it was! Helpful hints: They make their own homemade ice cream and give 10% off with any cake order. They also make their own popcorn and had samples of Pumpkin Spice for me to munch on while I perused the store. Our experience here was not good. My wife and I are from out of town and here for a sports tournament. Have a lovely Vietnamese lunch and decided to top it off with a bakery item. Taylor's bakery reminded me of bakeries of my youth. I had a biscuit type item and it was ok but not fresh tasting but my wife decided to splurge and have a chocolate eclair. She had never had one. I remember in my youth just how delicious they were and encouraged her. We took it back to our hotel and she decided to cut it and share with our son. This was not going to happen. It was FROZEN solid. No kidding. Solidly frozen. So....these are not made fresh and how careless to put them out frozen for the customer. read more

Taylor's Bakery has been around a long time, and there are many very devoted fans. "I got the cake from Taylor's Bakery!" has long been a prideful statement spoke by many. I had lived in this area for a long time but had never been to TB. When I needed 3 desserts for a bridal shower last weekend, I could only find them at TB. I was very grateful to find that they had a means to order online, which was super convenient. I ordered the bride's 3 favorite desserts: cheesecake squares, brownies, & donut holes, and picked them up before their 5:00 closing on a Saturday (served them Sunday morning). They had many items to choose from, and it was easy to order online (saved me a lot of time). I called twice with questions & someone helpful quickly answered each time. So high scores for convenience in ordering & selection offered, but I only gave 3 stars because they are not conveniently located to me and because I think the quality/taste is just average. I would like to see them raise the bar a little bit. They are kind of in the middle of bakeries; they don't need to go as fancy/expensive as a CakeBake or Gallery Pastry shop, but seems they should differentiate themselves a little more from a grocery bakery. I know there are many a fan of frosting in bright colors, etc., whereas personally I'd rather never see red or blue balloons made of frosting again. But who am I to argue with success? Taylor's Bakery has long been very popular. I'd vote for high-quality homemade, natural, creative, beautiful & interesting desserts --- made with chocolates, nuts, caramels, mint, fruits, etc. I wish TB continued success, and I think most would be very happy there. read more

I stopped by Taylor's Bakery after it was highly recommended to me. Their selection is pretty impressive and it all looked very tasty. I came in with hopes of putting in a large order and made sure to let the staff know so I could get the assistance I needed regarding pricing, potential shipping as well as any and all other details that needed to be covered. I waited on the manager to come back from lunch as the person helping me didn't have all of the answers for me. When the manager did return, she was never introduced to me and when I asked a question, she never answered me directly, instead answering the person who was "assisting" me. Similar to the customer service, their baked goods were okay. There was nothing special about the cupcakes (red velvet and chocolate) and the cannoli was stale, but the baklava was good, if not a little too dense. read more
