My kids love going into ohanalulu. My daughter loves the ice cream of pineapple whip choices and my son's go to are the doughnuts. This visit, we tried their new item: doughnachos, their small 6 or 12 pack of doughnuts covered in flavorful toppings and the option to add on a scoop of ice cream to really secure that sugar rush! My donut weakness! My first trip to Ohana donuts in 2024 and I can't believe I lasted 6 weeks. My coconut donut was warm and she frosted it & added the coconut in front of me. I ate inside for the first time and lost a star b/c none of the 4 tables or the counter were cleaned (even though there was only a table of a mom w/ 2 toddlers eating inside). Every time we're in town, we like to try a doughnut place. This time around, it was Ohanalulu. We ordered a dozen of the specialty doughnuts, which came out to a reasonable $23 after tax. These are cake doughnuts, which are denser than I prefer (plain old glazed is my go-to). Regardless, really good. Of the three I've tried, I liked the Puppy Chow the most. But they're all quality and very creative. The guy behind the counter was really nice, too. They ran out of the Ohana, so he let us substitute in the more expensive premium doughnuts. Parlor donuts is the joint for Gluten-free, dairy-free and even keto. To the business owner: The very first thing I asked the young lady at the counter was if you had vegan donuts, and SHE said YES. What a great spot in the neighborhood! I was pleasantly surprised by all the customizable options as well as the specialty donuts they had on the menu. Since it was my first visit I went with a specialty donut and one seasonal donut, but I preferred the specialty option (a blueberry cheesecake). They were both made fresh to order which was incredible. I was also pleasantly surprised by the size and quality of donut for the price. First thoughts...super disorganized. Lots of young people working I guess it was controlled chaos. The dounut board with the shelf : there isn't any signage to say what you are suppose to do. A few sheets of paper laying on the shelf and a bowl of pencils. We didn't notice it till we actually already ordered. Dole whip was exactly like what we had at The Dole Plantation in Hawaii. Tasted like a fresh pineapple. Maple bacon breakfast sandwich. I should have gone without the maple drizzle. It put way too much sweentness on top. The bacon on top was great and the dounut itself was not overly sweet. It is a good size for a sandwich. It could have been hotter. We got two dounuts. One with vanilla icing with oreo and one with chocolate icing with chocolate sprinkles. I shouldn't have left this decision to my husband because he will always go for something chocolate. The dounuts alone were good totally different texture than the typical cake dounut. The toppings do add the sweetness the dounut lacks alone. I'd get something other than chocolate next time. Young man working was very friendly and engaging with the customers. I think he is part of the family that owns the shop. I do have one concern if you have nut allergies. Family and I went to Ohana's for a mid day snack. There was a small line but the employees did their best to make sure everyone felt welcomed and understood all the different options on their menu. We ordered their breakfast sandwich with bacon and all the fixing, a dole whip float, dole whip ice cream, and a donut sundae. All were a huge hit with my family. My kids were devoured their treats and they split the breakfast sandwich. The only time I've had Dole Whip is when we are visiting the Disney Parks, the version that Ohana makes is on par with Disney's DW. My son was asking for more treats to eat on the road . If I could give zero stars I would. I waited 45 minutes for an order of 6 custom doughnuts and one iced vanilla latte. In the process of waiting for the doughnuts I watched two of the employees count through the tip jar, instead of fulfilling orders. In addition, after the long wait, my order was not even correct. The order was written down on piece of paper that other employees had trouble deciphering. There was no efficiency for making the doughnuts or an assembly line. Due to this process 3 patrons that came in before me had their orders fulfilled before mine. No organization at all in the business process. The doughnuts taste wonderful, but is 100% not worth the wait. With wonderful doughnuts in the area as competition, I will never visit this establishment again. It's really quite simple. The donuts are amazing and the ice cream is amazing, but if you need more detail then allow me to elaborate for you. So I stopped in here on chance because I was really craving some graham central ice cream and the place I usually go to had ran out so I force my group to try this place out instead. Luckily they had graham central which was amazing as it always is because it's the best ice cream and I will hear no other answers! Anyway, as I'm waiting I notice their donut of the week is a Kit Kat donut. Now, I love Kit Kat so naturally my interest is peaked and I start peaking at the menu. At this point is where it all went downhill for me. There were so many good options and it was pretty affordable for a dozen so I said "why not" and went to crafting. I've only had a few so far, but from what I've had they're amazing! I love that they are more like a cake donut because I think it's better at keeping its shape and tasting better over a period of time compared to yeast donuts. I'm not even a cake donut lover, but these donuts at Ohana have changed my mind about cake donuts. These have to be the best cake donuts I've eaten in Indiana. There are several flavors of glaze to choose from, as well as many different toppings, and everything is customizable. I'm also not one to care much about customizing my donut, but I have kids to please and not just myself, so in this case, customizing the donuts came in handy. (You know how kids are -- they always want something specific! Well, they can be specific here.) For real, the maple glazed donut was the best. It was like eating a soft, pillowy, sticky pancake. Except if that pancake was a delicious cake donut. I also tasted the raspberry glazed donut, which was excellent too, but I ate it after the maple donut, so it didn't quite live up to the maple flavor. Because we are living in the time of a pandemic, I will offer up some information that you might find helpful if you're considering visiting: When we were there, no one who worked behind the counter was wearing a face mask. This may or may not mean anything to you, so take that information and do with it what you will. As for me, I was disappointed to see that. But the donuts are so good, and everything else about the transaction was good, so I won't let it affect the star rating. Welcome to the 'hood, Ohana! We finally go to Hawaii and we come back to see a Hawaiian-themed donut and ice cream shop in our city? Awesome! Ever had pineapple Dole whip? This is the only (as far as I know) spot in the city where you can get it. We kicked off day one thousand of quarantine by getting three boxes of six donuts and putting them on friend's doorsteps. For 20 donuts, it was only about $20 and put a ton of smiles on people's faces. And if you're doing the math and it's not adding up, I'll admit it -- I also got two extra donuts to eat in the car. Hah! They honestly are probably the best donuts I've had. The ones we got for us were the most basic -- just plain glazed, but were truly great. The donut was more of the cake type and kept its shape over hours and wasn't greasy. The glaze was perfectly sweet without being overly so. You can order takeout on their website (also linked up to their Yelp page currently), which makes it easy to customize each donut you want by selecting the frosting and topping type. You can also add customized ice cream to your order. We called in because we wanted them to just do a random mix of donuts in each box and they did a great job. When we arrived, we called them and they brought the boxes to our car (currently COVID19 time). I'd recommend ordering and paying online, as I should've done so I didn't' have to exchange a card in person. I was looking for something new and found this nearby location online. I arrived around 6:40 am, about 40 minutes after opening. As I waited for my three donuts to be made, I started noticing how unkempt the place was. The restaurant was filled with a heavy haze, the glass was filthy, and there were food crumbs all over the counter. The kitchen area was even worse--food debris was everywhere, and the floor had white powder scattered across it. The only employee working mentioned it was a slow day, but the kitchen looked like a disaster zone. I considered walking out but didn't want to be rude, especially after I'd already paid for my breakfast. The newest donut shop in town. Ohana just opened this weekend and we had an opportunity to stop in this morning. Rather than select from a case of premade donuts, Ohana has an entire glaze/icing and toppings menu that allows customers to mix and match their favorites (or their new adventures). The donuts are then topped on the spot. My favorite was the strawberry icing with Fruity Pebbles. The kids say that vanilla icing with chocolate chips was the best. Ohana is about a mile from our house and will definitely be our special morning treat spot going forward. read more

Ohana being so close to home could become dangerous to my waist line! WOW! What a great little spot! The staff was super friendly, the space was clean, and the merch was fun. I opted for the breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese - and feared that the donut "bun" might make it too sweet. Boy, was I wrong! It was strangely perfect and even light tasting! I bet one with bacon for my meat eating friends would be the trifecta with the salty to add to the slight sweet. As far as donut options, there were PLENTY! I opted to get 5 different donuts with a range of icing choices, one filled with bavarian cream (YUM), and some fun toppings. Stand outs for me were the caramel icing with cinnamon toast crunch top and the strawberry with fruity pebbles. The hubs RAVED about his chocolate with butterfinger and the maple with bacon topping ("It is REAL bacon, Krysha!") - and we even liked the simple lemon glaze. I was skeptical that just having just one base donut would work and could taste so different - but it is the perfect base to add any toppings. We ordered so many that we had leftovers, and they were surprisingly good even on day 2! Of note, the base 'cake' donut itself is not a dense cake / traditionally cake donut - it is lighter and almost a hybrid of a cake and yeast donut if that makes sense. For the nice days there is a table outside in the grass area by the parking lot that you can eat as well. The staff their is friendly and courteous. I was more of a yeast guy, but this place changed me. They have forms that you fill out to make your donut order. Kind of reminded me of the book called the Paradox of Choice. It is hard to choice with so many options and combinations. You create your own donuts starting with the base cake donut. You then choose your frosting such as glazed, chocolate, maple, vanilla and lemon. You then chose a topping such as peanuts, fruity pebbles, Oreo, cinnamon toast crunch, bacon and different flavor drizzles. They also have a donut of the month and their signature Ohana donut. It was tough, but I narrowed my order down to 7 delicious circles. I took my treats to do and was surprised that I made it home with all of them. When I finally was able to dig into them.......mmmmmm. They were worth the wait. The donuts were so delicious and fresh. They were covered in toppings.
