I've been to Flying Cupcake once many years ago and the cupcakes I purchased were absolutely terrible, I swore I'd never return. Today I got an alert that this business was new to the Too Good To Go app, which I've used at several other businesses lately. Typically, what's not sold by the end of the day is sold for a discount on this app. You don't know what you're getting but it's typically a great deal for a unique variety and the food I've gotten has always still been fresh. I paid $8.99 + tax and headed over. I will say the employee working today was super nice, such good energy, I appreciated that greatly. The cupcakes were already boxed and ready to go, quick & easy pickup. Upon getting to the car, I opened the box and was so happy to see 4 unique cupcakes, which looked delicious. I had no idea what each flavor was, I wish they were labeled or that I was told upon pickup. I went home to try these. I called to check on the flavors, and despite calling this location, the Carmel location answered. They had no idea what flavors I got but tried to help me figure it out based on descriptions, which was nice. I was ready to dig in and cut each in half. As an at-home baker, I could immediately tell the cake with each of these was very, very stale. Each immediately crumbled into pieces, some drier than cornbread, and I was not excited to eat them. I tried a bite of each and while the chocolate icing on two of them was decent, the cake was terrible, and the icing on the other two was just bad. My husband also tried a bite of each. We are not picky eaters but he didn't like anything either. The lemon had no lemon flavor. This cake was the hardest. It was topped with some sort of sprinkle that looked like cut up pieces of plastic wrap. One chocolate was salted caramel, the other was birthday cake with buttercream. The last one was cotton candy, which had no flavor other than vanilla (and I love cotton candy flavor), the icing was so rock hard it crumbled when cut. Sadly, after a small bite of each, these went into the trash. Clearly this is a consistent issue, based on other reviews I read after the pickup, not just on leftovers for Too Good To Go customers. Do yourself a huge favor and head to Smallcakes not even 5 minutes down the road by Ulta/McAlisters, where the cupcakes are phenomenally better in every aspect. read more

It is adorable inside with cute little mismatched tables and chairs and a bakery front and some fun different stripes of wallpaper on the walls. What a fun little location. In the too good to go box, there were four different cupcakes, salted caramel wedding cake and a couple others that I'm not sure of yet but I also decided to purchase a lemon zinger which is lemon and blueberry. I had never been to this place until here recently when I seen them on the TooGoodToGo app. Yes I have seen this store due to me always shopping or eating in the area but hadn't really ever stopped here. When I seen the app had a surprise cupcake box for this place I knew I just had to try them. The surprise box was a reasonable price for all that you got. You got 4 big cupcakes for $7 which is not bad at all. The cupcakes are a surprise so you don't know what you will get but it allows you to try different things. Even looking in the store their prices aren't bad at all. The workers have been great both times I went in there. They have answered any questions I have. The atmosphere in the shop is great from the decor to the great customer service. I love how there is a small seating area so you could stay in there to enjoy your cupcake and enjoy the atmosphere. The flavors of the cupcakes do change each week and they have monthly flavors. I'm an Aries. Every year near my birthday, I get together with other friends, some of which are also Aries --this year, more of us than usual. The photo cannot do this full justice. I told The Flying Cupcake that I wanted an Aries sheet cake with a ram's head on it, with reds, pinks and purple. Semi, but not fully realistic --2D vs 3D is fine. They asked if I wanted glitter or pearls, and I said "Absolutely! Go wild!" This was not cheap, but well worth it!!! I LOVE IT!!! Everyone at the party photographed it. It was chocolate and incredible. I cannot express how much I loved it. Frosting is vanilla buttercream. Heaven. A+++! read more

If I could give less than one star I would. I paid $70 for a dozen cupcakes that essentially were inedible. My guests spit them out in the trash. The chocolate one tasted like baking power. The air pockets in all of them was crazy and some broke apart like clumps of dry dirt. But the are "baked" daily. Kate the claimed attorney and owner called me back to inquire about my complaint but instead of listening to my feedback, I was yelled at called names, told that my conversation was recorded without being notified, and I ended up having to hang up on her, because the conversation was not conducive to any resolution. kt did offer me vouchers, but I declined as in. I would not even make the trip to this horrible establishment. I would not waste your time here. I'm all about supporting local businesses however, the way that I was treated I wouldn't even eat one of these if it was given to me free. The woman at the counter that helped me on my initial visit was very sweet, so I guess that's worth one star I took videos of how dry and disgusting these cupcakes were. I hope someone takes the time to read this and won't waste their time or support the vial woman that practices law all while "baking" daily. Just sad read more

I volunteered to go shopping with my wife at a nearby store just to go afterwards to the flying cupcake. These are awesome cupcakes. The sheer variety of crazy combinations means you can always try something new. I got the Bart Simpson. It was chocolate cupcake with pb cream cheese frosting and butterfinger on top. It is excellent. I usually toss frosting as it is too sweet and I don't like it. Not with this cupcake. It was the perfect balance. Usually I'm never dissatisfied with their many options of cupcakes but this time around i didn't care for the espresso/tiramisu cupcake or the pineapple cupcake. Something missed the mark on former and the latter didn't taste good at all. However because the Red Velvet was so good it still made up for it. I was tickled with how they were doing contactless service and thought it was ingenious. I don't want to spill how they do it so that if you go you can see it for yourself. I lived in Indy for two years. I tell everyone Flying Cupcake was my best friend. This location has extremely friendly staff. Everyday cupcake flavors are listed on the Facebook page, you also have the option to call. After I became a regular so of the employees would call me to let me know the Lemon Vegan cupcake was in stock. I LOVE the lemon vegan cupcakes and I'm not vegan. Also, the bakery has a selection of cookies, cookie dough and brownie batter. Try the brownie batter, it will surprise you. It is very good. Oh and the birthday cake cookie dough is pretty addictive. Flying Cupcake offers reward points for every purchase. Sadly, COVID hit before I was able to use my points. I'm super bummed I wasn't able to say goodbye to this bakery prior to my departure. This bakery always brought a smile to my face during a difficult two years. I'm rooting for this bakery to have an amazing rebound after Covid. 3/31/18 I stumbled upon the Flyjng Cupcake Bakery by complete accident, and I'm glad I did! The employee working the counter was especially friendly and helpful, especially to someone like myself who had never been there before. I was planning on getting 4 cupcakes to take back home, and sadly the woman before me took the last lemon, so I had to make a new choice, but I'll be back to try the lemon! I ended up Picking the special Cadbury Egg (for Easter), Fat Elvis, Red Velvet, and salted Caramel. I also couldn't resist getting a Pupcake especially for my little prince of a dog who was waiting patiently for me at home! We shared them over several days, and even two days later the Cadbury Egg cupcake was not dried out! I was impressed. All of the cupcakes tasted good, though we felt that some could have used a little more filling. My dog loved his pupcake so much, and would probably have eaten a dozen if given the opportunity (he once ate 9 high fiber blueberry muffins that I was cooling on the counter after baking -- he had no regrets). Next time I'm nearby I'll probably stop in again to try some other flavors and hopefully be able to get a lemon cupcake! read more

The wedding flavor didn't taste much like almond (huge misstep in my book. You simply CANNOT screw up a wedding flavor). And the strawberry didn't taste much like strawberry. If you head South and taste our strawberry cake you'll understand. The winner for me was the chocolate birthday cake. Now here we go...THIS is what I'm talkin' about! It was fudgy and delicious. I got an almond cupcake with almond buttercream frosting (Here Comes the Bride). It was $4! For the size, its the most I have paid for a cupcake. I like the cake to frosting ratio to be 75/25, so that was definitely perfect. I found the cake itself to be wayyy too crumbly... the buttercream was also a little too sugary. Today's cupcake was much better than the first. When we ordered the huge lot of birthday cupcakes, everyone agreed they were overly sweet and too dry. But, we did buy them 12 hours before the party. Today my wife had hers right after buying it (she had the same one both times) and really enjoyed it. Although I scraped most of the icing off my carrot cake cupcake, the cake itself was quite delicious. Overall, it's a pricey novelty treat (roughly $3 each), but worth it once in a while. Stopped here after seeing the sign and decided to try some cupcakes. Walking in the door I was let down to see a line almost out of the door and was left standing against the door not able to see any cupcakes with no clue what they had. After a 25 minute wait it was my time to pick some FIVE dollar cupcakes. The one that I ate is the one pictured and I have to say. It had it's ups and downs. It was advertised as a delicious cupcake with Carmel bits in it. The cake was nice and moist but had HUGE chunks of Carmel inside of it that you literally couldn't bite into and they are all sunk down to the bottom. The pretzel on top was insanely stale. I'm a big sweets person. And I love cupcakes so I am always up for trying a new place, I happened to be shopping nearby and decided to pick up a couple cupcakes for my husband and I. I got the salted chocolate caramel and the ebony and ivory. I was told they were both some of their best selling cupcakes. Service was quick and friendly, yay! As for the cupcakes, both were good, but not great. I was expecting more for the price I paid for these cupcakes. Icing is smooth but the flavors weren't all that spectacular. Husband agreed that they were good but wasn't that excited about them. It seems this chain has much better reviews at their other locations. I may make an effort to hit up one of those in the future. I think tip jars are inappropriate if you are not receiving a servers wage. Last I knew that was $2.23 per hour plus tips. Using the ploy of who tips better men or women is tacky at best. read more
